Da Andrea was a decent dinner spot, but it didn't really stand out to me. We sat outside, which made for a nice atmosphere. I ordered the RAVIOLI DI CROSTACEI and tiramisu. Both were good, but neither was particularly memorable. My friend ordered the carbonara and didn't end up finishing it. Overall, nothing was bad, but nothing made me want to come back either. This is easily a 5 star review. The service and atmosphere are 10/10. We were lucky enough to get a table next to a window and the restaurant was decorated for Christmas. Even if we wouldn't have gotten a window table and it wasn't Christmas, the vibes and interior of this place would have still been great. We went in December night of 2024 so some aspects of the menu have changed however, most of the dishes still appear to be on their menu as of now, June 2026. It appears most changes comes to the type of pasta used in a dish, aspects around a dishes main focus and gelato/dessert flavors. Everything we ordered was an 8 or above out of 10. The beet salad (BARBABIETOLE) is easily 10/10 and a top 3 salad we have ever had. The chocolate cake with gelato (TORTINO DI CIOCCOLATO) was 10/10 and the best dessert we had at Da Andrea. We ordered 3 total, including the ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. Tuna Tartare, gorgonzola pasta and bolognese are 9's. The fritto misto, the other pasta we ordered and the other 2 desserts are 8's. If you're in New York make reservations and go. My Wife found this place and made reservations. I'm a bit confused as to why Da Andrea has such a high rating on Yelp. I chose this place because they had reservation availability and could accommodate our large party. The restaurant was relatively spacious for Manhattan, with dim lighting and a beautiful floral exterior. They also had a great-looking antique bar. For drinks, I ordered the watermelon mocktail, but really was not a fan. I ended up swapping with my partner and drinking his non-alc beer instead. For starters, we shared the Insalata Di Caesar. This was a pretty mediocre Caesar salad, but got the job done. For entrees, most of us ordered pasta dishes but none of them were stellar. My Ravioli Di Crostacei was pretty bland and my partner's Spaghetti Bolognese just tasted like the pasta you could make at home. Really good food all around, we tried the octopus salad app which was incredible (top 3 octopus dishes I've ever had), then I think the other two were specials - diver scallops with risotto, and a truffle ravioli dish, both of which were very very good. Service was also pretty good despite being absolutely packed (it was Valentine's Day). That said, the space was a little cramped but the lighting and ambiance were still very nice. I would definitely recommend trying this as an upscale Italian spot. Great choice for dinner in Chelsea. Found it on yelp and this was great find. The decor of the room was very vintage great setting for a date night. But that was part of the issue. It wasn't a date night for us. It was a work dinner and the room was very dimly lit. However, the food and the service made up for it. We went with the lamb shank and the Cornish game Henn as well as a couple salads. Everything was on point. Cooked perfectly and presented well. Would definitely like to come back and try the pastas and some of the other items on the menu. But everything around me look delicious. This was our first time visiting this location and it did not disappoint! We have been to the Greenwich Village location multiple times, so we were excited to give Chelsea a go. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, very moody and swanky. Be careful as you descend the stairs to use the restroom, they are very angled and steep. Our server was pleasant enough, and brought us more bread when requested. But the real star is the food. Everything we tried was fantastic - seafood ravioli, spaghetti bolognese and the special of the evening, lobster ravioli. The pasta is cooked perfectly and all the sauces are so delicious. Da Andrea is a lovely space with lots of flowers and Italian rustic decor, a nice bar to the right of the entrance and a spacious back room. Unfortunately the service and food did not measure up. A summary of the comedy of errors we endured during our early dinner experience follows: ACT ONE: We arrived around 4:00 on a Sunday with a prior Opentable reservation. The place was only about one-third full. The hostess didn't even acknowledge us, then walked away so we stood awkwardly for awhile. ACT TWO: A brusque male employee finally came over, we told him about our Opentable rez and he promised to mark us as checked in. He showed us to a table, then disappeared as well. ACT THREE: A pleasant female server asked us about drinks, brought over a tasting pour of a white Etna wine I asked about, then disappeared. ACT FOUR: The rude male server from Act Two reappeared and demanded to know why we had such small drinks. Told him about the tasting pours, he seemed very annoyed. I asked for a cocktail instead of the wine. Server insisted that the wine was great and his favorite so I should get it. I politely told him I preferred the "Andrea" signature cocktail which he begrudgingly fetched. It was too sweet and overpriced/weak, so not worth arguing for after all. ACT FIVE: Server didn't bother to offer us specials (as we heard at other tables) so we ordered from the short "official" menu. Burrata app was small and wrinkly, not creamy/fresh. Ugh. I got the Chicken Scallopini entree, big mistake. Dried out thin strips of chicken with a gluey gravy and hard mashed potatoes, inedible. Partner's Zuppa di Pesce (which I shared) was tasty but a small portion of seafood with lots of sauce. Server spilled some of the sauce on the table (see pic). Hey mistakes happen but he looked right at it many times and never cleaned it (or replaced the paper table cover, an easy fix!), so I had to eat looking at the ugly mess. ACT SIX: A different, polite male server finally arrived for dessert service. He recommended the apple tart which was very good. I paid, tipped (this being the USA) and took my leave, never to return. ENCORE: Although I had an Opentable reservation the restaurant told Opentable I hadn't shown up so I had to call them to clarify. Issue still outstanding as of this review date. read more
