Baja Burrito is one of the best things Clinton has going for it right now. I've lived here all my life and as a local, this town has been very mediocre, expensive, and unfortunately a lot of business owners are jerks. Thankfully, Baja Burrito has been an exception and I will be returning. I got take out from here and it was definitely one of the best burritos I've ever had. (I highly recommend the Hawaiian burrito!) The food is fresh out the oven, portions are big, ratio of ingredients is perfect, there's a nice salsa bar, and the inside is lovely. It's so refreshing to finally have a ~hip~ restaurant in Clinton that's similar to a beach or college town in terms of interior aesthetics and the type of food itself. Oh, and most importantly... Baja Burrito is affordable! You can't beat their prices for the portions and quality they give. With the combination of price, aesthetics, and kind of food served, it finally feels like there's somewhere for the younger crowd to fit in because let's be real: No college kid can afford a tiny pile of $11 salad or a $5 generic ice cream cone. My only complaint is I wish there were a little more chips. They're really tasty, but it does seem like they skimp out here. Other than that, I have no qualms. Opened a few months ago in the old Pizza Como building. Did a nice job renovating but that's where the good news stops. You go up and order cafeteria style. I ordered the chill salmon dish and requested that I receive a center cut and not the tail. This confused the cashier but after talking with the cook it was confirmed. My wife ordered the Maui Wowi Salad with chicken. We were then told to get salsa since we will be getting chips with our food. We were then given a number, asked to pay with a line item for a tip. Why would i tip in a cafeteria especially before I have gotten my food ? So I didn't. So ... the entrees came and we each got 6 chips. ????? Huh. Aren't Chips cheap. Give us a basket right away. The chill salmon came with a nice Center cut salmon but the dish was bland as hell. Seriously. My wife did like her salad. I tasted it too and it had some nice flavors. I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the food at this place. My bf and I tried this restaurant when it first opened and didn't think It was anything special. Tonight we decided to give it another try as we were both craving burritos. We both like our food spicy so we got spicy salsa with our food. The salsa was absolutely disgusting; it tasted like watered down strawberry jelly. Also, the burrito was very bland and the chips tasted more like Asian style chips than anything else. My friend ordered chips and guacamole for $3 and something cents. A worker came to our table with the chips only. Thinking that the guacamole was coming soon, we waited a few minutes. After that, my friend went up to the cash register in order to ask for if the guacamole was coming. The cashier said he only put her down for chips, but chips are only $2 and something cents. My friend tried to explain the price differences, but soon gave up and ordered the guacamole again for $3 and something cents. The cashier responded with saying that he'd give her a big order of guacamole. When a worker returned with the guacamole, it was a puny sized side of guacamole in one of those condiment cups. Perhaps it was because we ordered two non-Mexican burritos but I was not terribly impressed with the food here. Yes, the burritos are large but they seem to be fill with at least 1/3 lettuce and tomato. That's how the Philly burrito was. The meat consisted of a few thin slivers of steak and the fries inside were just more filler. I'd recommend getting a cheesesteak wrap at any diner instead. We also shared the Veg Out burrito and really I couldn't taste the difference between that and the Philly. Again, there was a ton of lettuce and tomato. The selection of salsas is fine though a few were out so I don't know if they had any that were actually hot. This is a fine place for Clinton, and it wasn't bad, but I honestly can't say I'm compelled to ever go back. read more

My old (we're both 72) college roommate and I meet here every couple of months (about midpoint btween our Pa and NJ homes). What a FIND this place is! The owner remembered us after even out first visit (several years ago; have also brought my family over here seveal times, too) We can't think of another meeting place that is so welcoming. This is my favorite place to eat locally in Hunterdon County! I was so happy when this opened in Clinton. The food does NOT disappoint. I absolutely love the "For the Birds" chicken burrito and the "Happy chicken" burrito. Highly recommend ordering one of these two options. The ingredients are super fresh and flavorful, with a great coastal kick to them. Lots of flavor and so yummy. I always ask for their spiciest hot sauce on the side - their homemade hot sauce is amazing and is spicy enough for me (someone who is a spice addict!). Just wonderful. The staff are super friendly and the restaurant is always extremely clean. I love that you can pick any table you want. It is more of a "fast casual" atmosphere. The prices are super reasonable for how fantastic the food is. The only two negatives I can say are the parking lot is a little tricky (hard to get out of) and I wish they were open on Sundays because I do often visit Clinton on the weekends. But I appreciate that they give the staff off on Sundays. This is some of the best food around and I often make the 25-30 minute drive specifically to come here. I love the idea of having a fish taco/burrito place in Clinton, because my husband and I love that type of food. The atmosphere has a fresh surfer vibe and is casual and relaxed. It sounds like the one reviewer who was dissapointed with the ambiance has never been to a typical surfer fish taco place like you'd find in a coastal area. We tried several different tacos (shrimp, salmon, fish, veggie). The fish taco was very dry. It lacked flavor and really needs more sauce with better flavor. I think they need to skip the "ranch" and work on a true baja flavored sauce, and be more generous with it! The side of guac is way too small as well, especially considering the cost. The shrimp and salmon tacos at least were less dried out and had a bit more sauce. I like the salsa bar. Hopefully they can improve on a few things and offer take out soon. I like this place. First time I had take out, food was great and it looked like a good place to eat in. So I decided to come back and eat at the restaurant. They also have outdoor seating for niece weather. I had a burrito bowl, others had tacos, another had a salad. Everyone enjoyed it. Rest rooms new and very clean, to me that's always a sign of a good restaurant and owners who care. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table.
