Baja Fresh is my favorite burrito place in town. The food always tastes good and seems fresh. It's not what I would call Mexican food, but good nonetheless. Critique: getting a little pricey. 6 bucks for a burrito and 2 bucks for a soda. Also, this place is a little troublesome if you're on a diet. A Baja chicken burrito has over 800 calories, and that is on the low end. The nachos have 2200 calories (more than the daily allowance). Don't let the healthy hype fool you. A 2000 calorie meal will make you fat whether you are at McDonalds or Baja Fresh. read more

This was my first time trying out this place. the place was very clean and food was good quality. However the reason im only giving 3 stars is because of the customer service. The cashier, whose name is Jose, who helped me had poor customer service skills. Not only towards customers but also to his kitchen staff. Im guessing some kind of mistake in the kitchen happened and he was yealling to the staff in front of everyone. Not only is it demeaning for the employees but it creates an awkard environment for the rest of the customers. As a manager myself, i would never do this to my employees, its just common courtesy. I felt bad for the kitchen staff. Their human and make mistakes no reason to get all worked up. Probably wont be back. read more

We were served brown guacamole and burned dried meat on our taco I took pictures of these , when I asked for a piece of lime for my fish stick taco they told me to use the limes by the soda fountain but they were so brown and even had slime. I asked for a fresh one and the girl said there was nothing wrong with the slimy limes, and she was obviously not happy to help me, we received terrible customer service by both the manager and the other employee as well we will never return to this location because the employees do mot have basic customer service sense read more

Food is good, but the store is not crowded and it is taking 30 mins to make my order. It's not just me, it's everyone here waiting for their food. Never had to wait this long for two burritos and a taco to go. The cooks on the line are laughing, taking their time. No one seems to notice or care to get the orders out. I've been to Baja Fresh all over and never have seen a store run line this. I typically don't write many bad reviews so it really has to be bad to get me to write a bad review. read more

I went to Baja Fresh today and ordered the Americano tacos and when they came out they had a green salsa on them, different from the typical Pico de Gallo.. I'm always apprehensive about eating green salsa in case it has avocado mixed in- which I'm highly allergic to. Therefore, I double checked with the worker "does this salsa have avocado mixed in, I'm highly allergic?" which she responded with "no it doesn't" I then verified "forsure?" Which she responded "yes forsure." A few minutes later after I'm about a third of the way done with the taco the same worker came over to my table and stated after checking with the cook it does indeed have avocado. I then had to ask if they would make me a new one while I ran out to my car trying to hunt down some Benadryl to avoid an allergic reaction to the avocado. No apology by the worker or manager. I am super disappointed and will not be returning to this location. read more

I ordered the Wahoo grilled taco and shrimp grilled taco. The Wahoo was so overcooked I could hardly cut it and it was bland, I should have ordered 2 shrimp tacos as they tasted like shrimp and were much more enjoyable. For only a couple of bucks more than Taco Bell, you can eat at Baja Fresh and eat a better quality meal in my opinion. Love the chips and salsa bar, and the fish tacos are small but hit the spot. read more

Our burritos were labelled incorrectly. Thank goodness I'm not allergic to shrimp. Still, would have preferred the carnitas I ordered. When I called to complain they just wanted to put me on hold. Not very helpful. A few hours later I was very ill and had to spend the entire day recovering. I will never eat at Baja Fresh again. read more

Me and my husband love Baja Fresh! It tastes best when you eat the food at the restaurant, but is still really yummy if we get take out. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. Not a place for authentic Mexican food if that's what ur seeking. I'd say it's a more Americanize version of Mexican. I've had their chicken burritos, nachos, but recently discovered something I really like and it's their Mahi Mahi. Tried the bowl and burrito and it was very good. U can actually taste the Mahi Mahi as compared to other restaurant where u have more batter. Because I think this is the only items I truely like, I give this place 3 stars. read more

They need to teach the cashiers what no dairy means. It's an allergy and my food is ruined. They got my money and I got no food. Upset.

I have only been a few times over the years. I saw the Bakersfield Daily Deal had $10 of food for $5 so I bought 2. I went to get lunch yesterday and my order only came to $9.00 before taxes. I was told it had to be $10.00 before tax. I said it seems like its better for you this way (I wouldn't expect to get $1.00 back!). I was then told pretty rudely that "we don't get anything for this, its a loss for us" At that time my chin was on the floor....So I bought a side of guacamole for $1.39 that they got .61 cents for! I was really shocked. I don't understand why these restaurants do the groupon then complain to us about them! OH....and my $10.61 nachos were a joke. I've tried almost everything on Baja's menu.. From the chicken & fish tacos, to the salads & baja bowls.. And I've rarely been disappointed! This particular location is not as clean as the one downtown & the service is a bit slow..they are also a bit stingy w their chips. I love my chips and mango salsa! This place is like an Americanized healthy version of Mexican food. My food has always been very fresh. I like getting the chicken taco salad. It comes in a crunch "taco" shell bowl filled with black beans, lettuce, sour creme, guacamole, pico de gallo, cheese, and grilled chicken breast. The place is always clean and service is pretty good. Would choose over places like taco bell every time. read more

I've always been a fan of Baja Fresh, but my last several visits have been inconsistent and disappointing. Date night with my lovely wife. Finished our movie Little Boy and was hungry so Baja came to mind. I ordered my favorite Baja Bowl with steak, dynamite! My wife was full from popcorn so she passed. We later ordered the kids a salad, side by side, and chicken n steak quesadilla. The kids loved everything. I love the pico de gallo. Chips everywhere! Assorted salsas and hot sauses! This was the best shrimp /lime salad I've ever had! (And I'm a salad eater) the plate size was actually enough to feed a human being , there was a right amount of everything mixed into it , not stingy with the avocado . Amazing ! read more

I come here often and get a chicken burrito, it's usually good except sometimes whoever makes it is low on burrito wrapping experience I don't know what the skill is called but he leaves the tortilla loose (as opposed to grilled/stiff so it doesn't unravel) and halfway through eating all the ingredients want to spill out. On rare occasion (twice in about two years) I get a burrito that is LOADED with beans and very little of anything else. The pronto guacamole and salsa bar are nice touches that keep us coming back, staff are very friendly. read more

Tonight I placed a phone order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. As I was walking in the door my timer went off at exactly 20 minutes. I paid for my order and told them it was a phone order and gave them my number. The cashier walked away and I was given no food. I went to the salsa bar & got my condiments after which I waited. After 2 other people received their orders I asked if my order had even been started yet. After a little investigation, it was discovered my order was sitting there on the front counter the entire time. All the girl had to go was grab it and give it to me. Once I drove the 5 minutes home, all the food was cold and soggy, and the chicken burrito ended up being steak, not what was ordered. This isn't the first time this has happened at this location. I love Baja Fresh, so I will probably come back. Having said that only complaint is the SALSA. I've been to a lot of Baja Fresh's in CA and OR and I gotta say, the salsa at this location (store 33) was watered down and bland! Come on management! Stop trying to stretch a buck for a corporation! It took them over 30 minutes to throw lettuce on a plate with avocado and chicken. It's the craziest thing I have ever watched. Couldn't get anyone's attention to ask what's going on because the cashier was taking orders and manager was too busy cutting limes in back. This isn't the first time a simple order has been a pain.
