I've eaten at other Baja Fresh locations near my home and have always enjoyed fresh, flavorful food, which is why I was looking forward to stopping at this location on my way to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. The menu seemed different from other Baja Fresh restaurants I've visited, and the quality did not match what I'm used to. I ordered a burrito, and the very first bite was disappointing. The meat was in large, chewy chunks and tasted like low-quality cuts. I couldn't even finish it and ended up throwing it away. I went next door to Subway instead. I'm not someone who likes to leave negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel other customers should be aware. I hope management takes steps to improve the food quality and consistency with other locations read more

Reasonable quick bite at a gas & restroom stop between LA and the Bay Area. Baja Fresh is a good option if you don't want burgers and gourmet steak (Harris across the freeway) Choice of meats, and tortillas. Generally tasty. However, I t's hard to give a 5-star with pre-cooked meats that's not very warm. I do like that the server gave us options to add exactly what we want and don't want on the tacos. Do not stop here to eat!!! They closed at 8 PM even though the sign says they're open until 9 PM. They were out of beans and steak, and most of the proteins looked like they had been sitting in containers for a long time. The salsas were not what we remember from Baja Fresh, they tasted completely different. When we asked the employees about it, they brushed it off, and as my husband walked away, they started laughing. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. A step up from a normal gas station rest station fast food experience. Very clean restaurant and bathroom. Friendly staff and food offerings fresh. The guacamole wasn't the best I've had, but better than Taco Bell for sure! I think the GM was present today and maybe that's why all was running so well. I would recommend this place to stop. We stopped here on our way to Palm Springs during Thanksgiving and that combined with COVID-19 meant a lot of things were closed, but it was nice to see a Baja Fresh off the freeway. This express location is much more limited compared to traditional locations. They have more of a Chipotle/Panda Express model where you build your own bowl/salad/tacos. They don't have standard menu items or things like shrimp. It's a good, somewhat healthy choice for the road though. read more

Get a new customer service rep please. The woman who opened the store in June 22, 2024 was really horrible. I hate to be mean but she is not helping your business. She was so concerned about behind the corner stuff that she ignored the customer. I totally get you have to get things ready but this was so apparent she did not care who she was inconvenienced. The line is atrocious and takes forever. Food is not bad though, and can be customized! Highly recommend hitting that condiment bar hard! I had a salad bowl with rice, black beans, grilled veggies, and guacamole. Probably should have skipped the guacamole given that the meal cost me $11! Food was fine, kept me full for my drive, and was healthy enough. Don't forget that mango salsa from the condiment bar. Would I be back? Probably not. Brand new, just opened and still somewhat under construction. Thank goodness for Baja Fresh. I stop at this Fast Food and Gas Station exit all of the time. So glad to have good, healthy quick food that's not deep fried. Same exit as Harris Ranch where I5 meets CA198, West side of freeway. It's attached to the Valero Gas Station but a separate business with its own bathrooms. Chicken taco's with green salsa. Mmmmm.. Unfriendly & was very limited supply of foods . Not fresh and most of rice was hard. Beans were something else. I couldn't eat more than a bite because it was so unappetizing . One of employees was reminded to wash his hands and that freaked me out the most. How could you forget?! Maybe it's better earlier in the day. read more

As far as fast food goes along Highway 5 this is a good choice. The selection is the usual Baja Fresh, which for those that don't know seems to me a bit like a subway with mexican choices as they make your plate. Anyway enjoy the stop and roar off down Highway 5 to whatever far away place you are headed! read more

This place is horrible. Hour before they close and we got the bottom of the barrel for everything. Scraped up the hard Spanish rice off the sides of the empty pan, the brown warm guacamole and end of sour cream tube. Asked for guacamole for my son hoping they would bring out a fresh batch. Nope they scraped the bin CLEAN with a scraper for my son and it was the amount of a tablespoon. Gross I wouldn't let him eat it. And 30 dollars for 2 burritos and a kids quesadilla and a soda is a RIP OFF. never coming back. Surprised they are heath department approved. I would avoid this place. Not worth the money for low quality food. Also forgot to mention they were out of ice due to "maintenance" and the soda was warm and not carbonated. read more

We were starving and the reviews were so good we decided to get food anyway in good faith maybe it tasted better than it looked. A friend and I getting hungry traveling N on the 5 frwy for work. Baja Fresh sounded very good so I suggested we stop there. There is a very strong Oder in the air of cattle due to a massive cattle ranch not far away. The smell is a bit of a surprise at first but you can deal with it. What was the most disappointing was walking into the Baja Fresh about an hour before closing and they were out of carnitas which is what I wanted. Looking at the remaining dried steak that resembled burned beef jerky, and the dried up old looking chunks of what looked like week old dried up chicken, I lost interest. I was told they didn't have carnitas because they were closing in an hour. Upon further visual inspection of the food behind the glass barrier, I couldn't help but notice how dried out the rice looked in the warming tray. Some of it looked like it reverted back to dry rice and would obviously be crunchy. The black beans looked like a dark soup with a dry skin on top. It only took about 90 seconds to exit this place from the time we walked in. We did look at the reviews before walking in this place, but wanted to try it anyway. Man, were we sorely disappointed and wasted the time to even stop at this exit. Don't make the same mistake we did. read more

This is "gas station food". I went in knowing that and they still managed to disappoint. Out of carnitas, out of beans, out of tea, out of ICE... at 5:45pm. What they had was fine but not "good". At least the "Baja salsa" was decent. Not sure what is up with the food places on this side of I-5, but I've eaten at them all, and they are all mediocre to bad. Great place to get fast healthier food. You design either a burrito, bowl or salad. I had a steak salad, put the things I wanted on it. Then used salsa as my dressing. It was really good, and huge! The burrito is nIce and big to. Better for you than the other fast food places. read more

I was looking forward to eating here because I had fond memories of Baja Fresh from eating there in west palm beach FL. This was nothing like I remembered. This experience was terrible and the food made me wish my last memory of BF would have remained from WPBFL Our order: My husband - got a grease burrito with a side of carnitas. He was holding napkins on his forearm to catch the grease from running into the sleeve of his shirt. My son - stale nachos chips covered in runny bean juice. Maybe to un-stale them? He asked me if I wanted queso as he lifts off the mystery lid exposing this yellow substance separated from an oily greasy substance. I said no. Just the taco cheese please. He then with his bare hands picks up a small pinch of cheese and sprinkled it over the mountain of stale chips and bean juice. I asked if he could please have some more cheese. It was suppose to be nachos after all.. He the grabbed a huge clump with his bare hands and "smashed" it down on top. My order - chicken tacos. When finishing my order I asked him for sour cream on the side. He said yes but it will be .75 charge. After I said sure no problem, he proceeded to beat the crap out of the sour cream gun to get the very last squirt out instead of going to get more. He managed to squirt a few bubbles into the cup covering the very bottom. I was so grossed out. Not only was there no sour cream the watery substance was bubbling. As if it were fermenting. He then placed a lid on it and but it on my tray. I was like no way.. He actually thinks I'm going to pay for these fermented bubbles. When I looked at the cashier and said I don't want that it's bubbling he got incredibly irritated, and looked at my like I was some jerk for not wanting it. Here comes the best part.. While I was still standing in line the sour cream guy went and got another pack of sour cream and sat it on the counter right in front of me. Did not ask me if I would like some fresh sour cream for my chicken tacos with no chicken. Just stood there with the pack in his hand and his back to me. Nice. This place is horrible. I went for lunch, not only did the food taste bad but there was an ear bug in my fountain drink. Luckily, I was sipping the drink without a straw so didn't swallow the bug. This just tells me they don't keep the place clean. Overall, I do not recommend you eat here, you have a long wait for bad food. Given the smell in the place, lack of quality and poor customers service tells me the owners seem to have no standard of service especially because they are right by the freeway and don't have much reason for retaining their customers. read more
