I haven't been to Baja Fresh (always this location) in a year or more. Not because I had a bad experience, I don't eat out much, eat fast food much but I felt like treating myself today. I ordered a chicken Baja burrito (kind of a creature of habit), and brought in my refillable cup for Barq's root beer. Service was excellent - as usual. Jaime Piceno usually greets me at the register to take my order. Very friendly, informative (phone number for rewards.). My burrito was robust made with fresh boneless skinless chicken breast, fresh guacamole and just the right amount of pico de gallo. The salsa bar was pretty serious with many choices. And stoked my Barq's root beer was well stocked. Restaurant is always clean and ambiance great too. Thanks guys! I really miss the grilled scallions Baja would include when they first opened. Any chance we can get them back? I was pleased to know that refills with my refillable cup is still 99 cents; the price of my burrito didn't change either! Yesterday's visit to this Simi Valley Baja Fresh, once a favorite food stop for us. Particularly the locations in Burbank and Marina Del Rey. But it had been almost 18 years since our last visit, and that at our Santa Clarita Baja Fresh shortly after our move here. We were pretty much underwhelmed. But after ordering to go and trying my fried fish tacos on this occasion, I can honestly say they were the worst fried fish tacos I've eaten anywhere! Terrible beans and rice too. Fried fish with very little flavor or crunch. Soft flower tortillas, that just couldn't keep the fish from sliding out of them after each bite and rapidly falling apart. Nothing like Rubio's fish tacos in taste, freshness and quality. With dry rice that was only made palatable by the salsa my wife had loaded up on at their salsa bar. And I requested black beans; so why the mix of black and pintos on my plate? Definitely not worth the wait. My wife was not pleased with her order of a taco bowl either. Or the one fish taco she ordered fried but apparently received grilled. Never again! read more

I have always loved this location, lots of parking and very clean. It's been years since I've eaten at a Baja Fresh so I have to say I was shocked at how much they charge for their chili lime salad with chicken! The salad was very fresh and tasty but honestly? It's a pretty small shallow square plate filled with a lot of lettuce, some pico de gallo avocado and thick chunks of onions-I had them hold the tortilla strips and green peppers and topped with maybe possibly a 1/2cup of chicken. After catching a movie around the corner at the Regal, we had a light dinner at Baja Fresh, accompanied by our daughter and granddaughter. Kudos to the young man taking orders. He had the right attitude for customer service, and even came outside to clean off one of the tables there when no one else on the crew was taking care of that duty. On the other side of the coin, on a Taco Tuesday, I was charged full price for a so-so shrimp taco. Didn't realize it until we were getting ready to leave, and didn't want to take the time to go back inside. Generally, I'm a fan of their shrimp burritos, but I wasn't very hungry, and opted for the taco instead. The burritos are far superior to the tacos, based on my limited experience. There were only a few shrimp included, and a too-generous amount of sauce which overwhelmed the flavor of the shrimp. I wouldn't order this again. Ambiance-wise, I didn't spend too much time inside. It was a nice evening, so I went out to get a table for the four of us and concentrated on watching the water splashing in the adjacent fountain. What I did notice about the inside of the restaurant space was that it seemed clean and spacious. As others have noted, their salsa bar is back. The service is horrible! My burrito was awful. When I went back to get a replacement burrito, they wanted a receipt before replacement. They said I may have gotten the burrito at another location and the owners at both Baja Fresh in Simi Valley want to make sure they are not excepting food from another location. I ordered on line and the wifi in there was slow so I was not able to show my receipt from my phone. I will never go back there just in case another food item doesn't taste good. This location is always messy looking and I never want eat there or the othet Simi location on Medera.. I will need to find another place that has great Baja salsa. Great food and great service! My nachos came out fast and hot. It wasn't busy at all and the nachos were delicious. I added chicken and that was very good. The nachos were huge and I was able to share them with a friend. There is plenty of parking and I would definitely come back! read more

I like the food at all Baja fresh restaurants but their prices are way too high for what you get. $17 to 20+ dollars for a small burrito is a joke. Sharky's is a much better restaurant that serves organic foods and they have better prices. My one star is for their prices. read more

Well, I did it again, I gave Baja Fresh another shot because I LOVE the Baja Ensalada (when fresh) with the Cilantro Ranch dressing. My boyfriend and I bought the same salad and when asked stated "for here". The salads were made in record time, except in to go containers....ok, no big deal. We sit down and open the container to find the worst quality lettuce l. I can't help but to think this was intentional, only because they wrapped it to go. We both sucked it up and just started eating. I couldn't, I saw a person with a green lettuce and all of our lettuce with yellow and brown. So I ask the manager for a handful of fresh lettuce to toss into our salads. He didn't apologize, just seemed to be annoyed. Unfortunately, I can not rationalize eating here again. Baja Fresh is a good place for lunch during breaks. Has a good variety of fresh menu items but does have its flaws. Below are my pros and cons Pros - The food is actually pretty good. The shrimp has good flavor and same with steak and chicken. - The free salsa they offer is actually really good with the tacos and burritos - The variety of items is large from nachos to tacos to burritos and even more Cons - The pricing is really high for what you get. It is fresh food but it still is a wallet biter. - The employees are kind, but the service seems to always be slow during lunch hours. - Some items, you get a lot for you money and others it seems like you getting jipped as they don't put as much meat. Prices have gone way up, quality is way down and quantity is much smaller now. Their chips taste like they're about two weeks old. They're horrible. For those who say the quality is good you have to wonder what they're measuring it against and how often they eat at restaurants. Not sure the reason for it, but overall Baja Fresh's quality is nowhere near it was in the 90s when they were popular. Where do I start??? Part of their name includes the word "fresh" which would imply that their food and ingredients are "fresh", but all I can say about this location is stay away unless you want to get sick!!! On Tuesday, February 10, 2022, at 7:31 pm I ordered the Chicken ChiliLime Salad and boy was that a disappointment. When I got it home and opened it, I discovered the avocado was brown and black. And it wasn't just one small part, it was all of it. So of course I didn't eat it and went back to the restaurant to get a new one. However, things got worse when arrived there. The employee that helped told me they could remake it but that it was basically going to look the same, because all the avocados looked the same. I questioned him why they would serve a salad with brown/black avocados that appeared rotten. He stated that it wasn't his fault and thats the way they were delivered to the restaurant. Needless to say, i asked for a refund. I told him I was disappointed with their establishment and asked how they knowingly could serve food like that and risk customer health. He again stated that that's the way the avocados come and he couldn't do anything about. Obviously I will never dine there again. Not only did their food not live up to fresh quality standards but their customer service was just as bad. i would have liked the employee to take my feedback and at least appear interested in making sure future meals aren't being served rotten avocado! read more

When Baja Fresh first opened their locations,they had a great product of fresh and healthy way of eating made to order of Mexican food and now,well not much to say.Maybe their just waiting to catch the wave.What happen to their high standards. Baja Fresh used to be part of Wendy's,just to let you all Know. The menu is still the same,however they added some different items to there menu,but the quality has gone away.The portion size of their burrito seemed a bit smaller.They did provide some chips,but they where old. Those that know Baja Fresh won't be surprised by this location. it offers the same menu, with lots of good, fresh, tasty food and decent service. We really enjoy the tortilla soup, tacos, burritos, guacamole, and salsas. I'd rate any location of Baja Fresh in general 5 stars because it is affordable, fresh, tasty, can be ordered to suit your dietary needs and there is something for everyone. I have yet to review a Baja Fresh due to it just being nothing new to most people, but I must review this particular Baja Fresh because of it's location. I don't know what the shopping center is called or even if it has a YELP listing (I looked and couldn't find anything online to identify the shopping center.) Here is what I love about this location: the patio seating!! It is simply fun, comfortable, the people who come here are super nice and down-to-earth, the management decorates the patio with twinkle lights year round so at night it is pretty and it has a really nice fountain. On top of that, they offer concerts in the summer and a beautiful Christmas tree in the winter. It is just a nice place to enjoy bringing your family or even your pet and enjoying simple, fast, chain food. They have Starbucks, Yougrtland, Baja Fresh, Natural Café, Panda Express, East Coast Pizza, Subway, and Daphne's all in a row in front of the large patio. PLUS...there are a few stores to shop in, like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Unleashed, a jewelry store, two banks, and a movie theatre. This place must be our favorite go-to for a meal with the kids and our dog. We come here at least once a week. Highly recommended hang out in Simi Valley. read more

I ordered the chili shrimp salad and my mom got the Baja Chicken burrito and her husband got the Baja Steak burrito. My order was good. The shrimp had a good taste and the dressing they use on the salad is just enough. Not too heavy or too light, which is exactly how I wanted my salad. The only thing I didn't like was that their were two VERY small pieces of avocado on my salad. I almost felt like they weren't suppose to be there. Well, if Nicolas is working, RUN! Seriously! My seafood grilled wahoo taco was supposed to come with avocado salsa but did not. So when I went to the counter to ask for some explaining mine did not come with it, Nicolas asked the cook, in Spanish, to put a little in the large cup he handed him. As that did not work to cover the dry, overcooked wahoo, I went back to politely ask for more, this time in spanish. Nicolas then proceeded to give the cook a smaller container and asked again for a little. So my original half plus the additional half might have equaled 1 oz of sauce.
