Do I recommend? Not sure? I used to frequent this location back when it first opened and then moved out of the area. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and it was seriously lacking chicken and the quality of the chicken was not good. It had a weird texture, reminded me of the frozen grilled chicken breasts they sell in bags at the grocery store (yuck). And the Caesar dressing they serve is gross. I think they've changed it? The lettuce was fresh. The rest of our group were not too thrilled with their burgers either and commented that their food used to be so much better. I 100% agree! The counter mgr? - (young girl), could not have been more inappropriate and rude. It was during the afternoon, and the restaurant was busy, however her attitude was unacceptable. There was quite the wait, which is typical for this location- granted, customers were annoyed- but a simple apology and a smile would go a long way. The "take it or leave it" vibe is never good for business. Two customers walked out- I would have also if my order had not been already placed and paid for. I ordered a curbside pickup for a Baja Crispy Fish Sandwich and was disappointed to find it didn't include the cole slaw....I mean that's what makes the sandwich. At first, I considered letting it go, but I've been coming here for years and if I'm paying $12 for a sandwich, I expect it to be made correctly...wouldn't you? I drove back and asked for a replacement. The person who appeared to be in charge simply said, "mistakes happen," with no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. They had one job. I saw this pop-up in Tampa Bay before I left so I decided to try one out here in California. I ordered online before lunch so I could pick it up and have time to eat. I just tried the tempura green beans and they are amazing. The signature ranch is really good but the double char burger with cheese add bacon and mustard is amazing. They have kiosk as soon as you walk in the door. If you don't wanna order from the counter in case you're scared of talking to people ambience is what you would expect. It's modern a lot of color and by the time I drove to the store, my order was ready. Two patties is enough to fill anybody up on that burger. I will be back since it's so close to my job. read more

Used to come to this habit at least twice a week regularly for years. i would spend about $40-)50 for two meals. and they can't even give complimentary ranch. Everyone i've spoken with is tired of this robbery. i came in today and on top of that i was treated rude and i will not be eating any more at this restaurant or any habit. who can afford it anymore anyways. the charge for ranch is just a slap in the face at this point to get every last penny they can get out of you. i'm now expecting a totally soulless response that addresses none the problems. read more

Came here Friday and placed an order and when I went to pay I realized I had locked my ATM card, and told the girl I was sorry And needed a minute to fix that. She said don't worry, it's taken care of. She said she got a free meal and would give it to me! What? It was the sweetest gesture for her to do that and it made my whole day! I'm a bit torn about writing this review as I don't like to complain about places (unless they deserve it), but I still have to. I love The Habit, in fact I love my local Habit in Ventura and the location in Santa Barbara (close to the SB Zoo). This location is relatively close to my workplace, but it is the first time I tried it. The location itself was clean and the service was quick, albeit a bit cold. I got the Original Char burger, fries, and a soda and everything tasted good, but I got a stomach ache afterwards. It wasn't so bad, but I was disappointed to even get a stomach ache. My coworker also went and his food was good, so it might have just been an unlucky situation for me, but it was my experience, so I still wanted to share it. read more

On April 30th, we ordered three sandwiches to go along with an order of regular fries, an order of sweet potato fries and the special that was advertised - garlic Parmesan fries. Got home and found the so called Garlic Parmesan fries to be the regular fries with a few sprinkles of Parmesan cheese without the Garlic!! Updating my 8 year old review. Still a great place for burgers and fries. I also recommend trying the onion rings, sweet potato fries, and the tempura green beans, or trying one of their sandwiches. I recently tried the fried chicken bites and they were fantastic. Crispy outside, seasoned perfectly, and a nice piece of chicken breast inside. I didn't even need the barbecue sauce that came on the side. The salads are great choice for something a little lighter. And you can never go wrong with a shake or malt. So yummy. I used the app to order and it was so easy. My order was ready within minutes of walking through the door. I also want to add that during the pandemic, they made a small little drive-thru and pick up spots since they only have an eat-in establishment. They made it work and were able to keep serving great food. The employees are friendly and helpful. Parking is plenty. They keep the restaurant clean. read more

I have no problem paying today's high price for fast food (AND tipping them). But I do realize I pay a lot. When I order fries, I expect them to be sizzling hot. I will not take warm fries. For years, they maintained a balance of quality and affordability, even after being acquired by a larger corporation. Lately, though, the experience has started to shift. While price increases are expected everywhere, The Habit seems to have taken it a step further. A double char is now over $15, and even small things--like a side of BBQ sauce--come with an upcharge. At that price point, I might as well go to Wood Ranch for a burger. I hope they recognize the value in what made The Habit special before they dilute the brand further. read more

I still remember when The Habit was a much smaller Gold Coast (Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties) mini-chain. Now they've spread their wings far and wide. We've stopped at one in Barstow on the way back from Vegas, and another in Porter Ranch's new Vineyards center, among other places. Here in Simi Valley, I prefer the one on the eastern side of town, due to its lovely outdoor area adjacent to the restaurant. From that standpoint, the west end location is more basic if you want to sit outside. This store is around the corner from a very large Target. There are other casual dining options in the plaza, and lots of free parking. Habit's burgers are solid, though I prefer cheeseburgers to plain, and dairy cheese is off the menu for me at this time. The option to enjoy their ahi tuna filet on a bun or in a salad is a great alternative for me. They have other choices, like veggie burger, which I haven't tried yet. I also miss their milk shakes, because they make very good ones! They offer French fries or onion rings, plus tempura green beans as something different for fried vegetables. Seems like they are innovating new featured burgers seasonally. Right now it's a French Onion Char(burger). Yes, they do char grill the burgers, which adds a smoky savory flavor that blows away many other burger joints. Their staff members are almost unfailingly polite, even cheerful.
