Been up n down 12th more times than i can count. Baja Mar has a good sized parking lot, excellent signage, across from Pueblo HS, next to Tacos Apson. Ambiance/Cleanliness-Squeaky clean, including the washroom. Colorful decor, well lit. Warm and welcoming. Like the room a lot....thought went into presentation. 5 stars. Service-Liz was my server and she did fine job. High energy smile. 4 stars Food-Not really Baja. 1 battered fish taco, 1 shrimp gobernador. Fish batter was good, fish far too delicate,thin and wet. You have to go here if you love fresh seafood. This is a must. Loveddddd their tostada ahogada which had pretty much everything under the sea lol literally 3 people can eat from this and their toritos for appetizers are a meal themselves stuffed with shrimp or marlin and cheese chefs kiss the staff is friendly and made great recommendations and the restaurant itself looked very clean. read more

Giving you one star, not because the food was bad, but 1) very noisy, accordion players coming in and out, and 2) the waitress was extremely disrespectful! I am Mexican American, and in the 60s we were whipped if we spoke Spanish in school, so my Spanish suffered. Nonetheless, she literally rolled her eyes at me because I did not know a specific word on the menu. I will never, never, go back to this restaurant! Extremely disrespectful! I was so upset I can't even tell you if the food was good or not, but I can't remember! This is the problem with non-Mexican-Americans, I am so tired of being treated different because I am NOT from Mexico, but my parents are! Do better, especially in the service industry! I do not make fun of people who cannot pronounce words because in my world, that means that they made the effort to TRY & learn another language! First off The food is always very good I come here Frequently and always leave pleased. However, the service not so much. If you do not speak Spanish you are virtually ignored after you're seated and essentially have to flag a server down. (Has happened to me 3 times so not a random thing) I will continue to come back because the Ceviche Coctels are amazing. Just a warning for non Spanish speakers. read more

We were a group of 15, when we arrived it was quiet. We arrived at 11am on Friday, May 2nd. Once we ordered it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Not organized at all for groups. I'm always on the lookout for quality Mexican seafood. We ventured to Baja Mar because it was recommended by a local. I called ahead and was able to get wait times and ask for a table (there's a wheelchair user in my group). The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. I ordered a large seafood tower, some seafood tostadas, and carne caramelos for four people. Quantities were large! We didn't finish and had plenty of leftovers. The seafood was great! The service was a little slow and the dining area could have been cleaner. I would still go back because of the value. read more

I went in on a Sunday morning. I called ahead to check on wait time. They assured me there was no wait and were really friendly over the phone. I arrived and no wait at all. Everyone works in a really fast fashion and they're all so friendly. A lot of seating space, great drinks and food. I ordered chilaquiles only vegetarian option I found on menu. 8 *critical* health code violations in one inspection in the first week of August? That's sad. Including shellfish from May still in the rotation in the fridge. What kitchen doesn't practice FIFO (first in, first out), *especially* when it comes to seafood? And improper cooling methods for their octopus? Stanknasty! Looks like they've had steadily declining health inspection scores since 2020. I'd need a lot of proof they've changed their ways before eating here in 2022. I'll sit this one out. read more

This place is great! Had the Garlic shrimp (Mojo de Ajo) and it was delicious. They don't skimp on the garlic butter. We also had a half dozen of oysters that were fully loaded I don't recall the name of the dish but they were very good. fresh and tasty. read more

If it was possible to give no stars I would. The customer service is horrible we waited 10 min with no menu until we finally got a server Who was horrible. we waited over an hour for part of the order to come out then another 30-40 min passed and still the rest of our order was "not ready". part of our party left with out eating because they never got there food After being there for 2 hrs. the waiter never came to check on us never did she refill our drinks. we asked for the check which took another 10 -15 min so I had to get up and ask the manager for boxes when I let him know that our waiter never came back he did not care he was rude as well. overall the worst experience and customer service ever. never going back and will never recommend. read more

I had previously given this place 5 stars because of how great everything has been here. Now, I feel differently. I told the waitress on the phone I'm allergic to avocado on my to go order. When I open the food all the food had avocado. I called to let them know what happened and the lady that answered said she took my order said I didn't say that I was allergic to avocado when I know I did. I know everything come with avocado here and don't want to die. I even told her I always have the avocado put to the side so my coworkers can eat it. It was a whole story i went into on the phone about me not being able to eat avocado. I honestly think she wasn't listening or tuning me out which is fine, mistakes happen but her trying to blame me for her actions almost poisoning me are not. They told me to come back so they could remake the order tland correct the situation and I did because I love this place. Just left there without eating. Seated ourselves and was not attended to at all for 10 minutes while three other parties who came after us were. No menus. No water. Nothing. There's a lot of wait staff, all in black with no name tags. The food arrived after about a ten minute wait. And the wait was worth it. The swordfish was done perfectly, juicy and tender. The swordfish was served with tartar sauce but it wasn't needed. The steak sandwich was just that, with the meat being steak worthy - tender and flavorful. The fries were AMAZING!!! Cooked in tallow, they were soft on the inside with a crusty outer shell. We ate every last one of them ((5 stars on the food). Have I finally found the promised land of fish tacos in Tucson? I think so…read more La Palma may be the closest experience in Tucson to the Baja fish tacos I could find throughout Southern California. Their big white food trailer is topped with a large blue tarp that shades a comfortable seating area. The location is kiddy corner from a gleaming white church at the opposite side of the intersection. In a short time, La Palma has become my go-to for fish tacos because the quality is consistent and they know how to dress the tacos with the right combination of flavors. Additionally, they make a mean horchata that compliments the meal perfectly. I'm probably in the wrong crowds because I have not heard other people mention La Palma while praising quite lesser places. I don't get it. My first option was to try the fish, but when I heard what type of fish they were using, I kindly declined. Opted for the calamari with a side salad with ranch I'm a settle at the calamari was good. It was nice and fresh and hot, but the salad was disgusting. I asked for ranch and they put some type of dressing which turns out to be dressing for coleslaw. I advised my waitress to her response was that's the first time I heard someone not lagging it. Interesting didn't offer to switch it out for a plain salad or to switch it for french fries especially since I paid extra to get a salad.. At our table, we also have the chicken strips which is plentiful. It's enough to feed the entire table in fact, so lots of leftovers of that that was also good because it was fresh and hot. My son went for the combo with the snow, crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. He also said it was delicious, but I don't believe I'll come back. It's unfortunate cause I really did wanna like this place, but without being offered a substitute or the exact same salad minus the dressing that was placed on it that did not taste very good at all. It was sour. For the cost of their food, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere

I walk over to the register, tell the cashier my name and what I'm buying; I pay and I'm outta there. Easy peasy. If you don't have a trusty butcher and don't want to buy from the regular grocery store, Dickman's is well worth it.
