They're always friendly and yes they ask if you'd like to leave a tip, which I always do because they're hand-making a special coffee for you on the side of a mountain! The drink prices are comparable to most coffee shops in the valley. Say hi to Perla, the most beautiful black lab who hangs out here. It's fun to watch her run through the snow at the end of the day too!

I ordered Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Potatoes, and Sourdough Bread Toast. The breakfast was good. An average breakfast but the best part was the view. It was spectacular. In my opinion the prices are quite steep for breakfast. The breakfast plate was twenty two dollars but that's to be expected staying on a ski resort. The customer service was good and could be quite slow at times.

Upon arrival we requested patio seating, where a large party was also seated. The server was a little slow to acknowledge us, however as she was helping the large party we let it go. We did overhear someone from the large group they wanted to order biscuits and gravy and was promptly informed they were out (this was about 10 am - posted business hours were from 8 am to 4 pm). The patio was had great view, the weather was perfect and of course being in the off season hardly many visitors It took the several minutes after taking their order to finally stop by. My husband ordered the black bean with chicken and informed they were out. So he opted for the Caesar salad with chicken and I ordered the eggs Benedict; he chose to stick with water and I ordered a n iced tea. When our order was brought it, it looked great. And was brought out by someone who was not our server. However my eggs were very overcooked; husband's salad had too much dressing. Not once did our server come by to check on either us or the large party until it was time to pay. My husband ended drinking the water brought to us when we're seated and I drank my iced tea slowly to make it last for the duration of our meal. We did observe another couple who was seated on the patio about the time we placed our order, the server was very attentive to them. Additionally there was a single young man also seated about the same time who was ignored by the server for good length of time.

I used the voucher last year at the same place. I got the Asian salad, it was okay. I couldn't believe they didn't tell their servers to honor the thousands of people coming in from the DOMO conference. I blame it on the server, I saw him look at my DOMO nametag on my neck and he didn't ask if I knew that the voucher wasn't good there. Again, not going to a manager to make this right. And with asking about getting cheese not being on my sandwich, no way. Couldn't be bothered. Aka: you got dietary restrictions, good luck, we're not going to help you. I ended up ordering the kid's PB&J because it was the only non-dairy, non-meat optipn on the menu. And then I got it... My bread we as hard as a rock. Clearly had been sitting for a while. Very pre-made. My mom's turkey sandwich was also horrible. She tried to eat the turkey our of the stale bread of her sandwich, but that was way too dry. I hate saying all this because the staff was so friendly, except when the server took 10 minutes to greet the table. Every other interaction and meal we had at Cliff Lodge was great. Maybe that's what made this interaction and meal so incredibly disappointing. Go elsewhere for food.

There is an elevator, in case your legs are weary from too many miles on the mountain. I was a little bit concerned that they might not have anything that would fit into my very restrictive diet. Turns out I was totally wrong to worry. Reservations are recommended. It's not the usual ski resort cafeteria. It's a classy sit-down place. You can even take off your ski boots and change into slippers. Made me feel pampered, like I was at a health spa or something. I was able to get some vegan carrot soup, which meant that it had been thickened with coconut cream instead of gluten-rich roux. Score! I didn't think I had the appetite to eat an entire salad, so I scanned the menu and decided that a plain chicken breast would be my protein for the meal. The rest of our group had sandwiches, salads and pasta. The menu seems to be mainly American/European, with very nice vegetarian and vegan options. I'd welcome a chance to go back there any time. It certainly wasn't a quick lunch, but it gave us all a chance to rest well before we headed back out into the whiteout conditions to conquer some waist-high moguls for the rest of the afternoon.
