First time here and this place is DELICIOUS! I stopped by bc I was craving Mac n cheese boy oh boy, this DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It hit the spot and satisfied my craving! I basically just order a full side and spinach and feta pie. As a pescatarian my options were limited so the only other thing available was a curry veggie pie and fries( I think). Either way, this will be my go 2 when I'm craving Mac n cheese. So moist and creamy, I highly recommended! My friend got the chicken pedi pero and loved it. Traveling alone for business can be a lonely affair. As much as I like eating on the company dime, I always found eating alone in a restaurant awkward. I'm tying up a table that could be used for a larger party, it's weird interacting with the server that probably wished they were serving at least a two-top. The whole thing's just uncomfortable for me. Enter the Food Hall. A collection of local restaurants all in one location. You pick your food stall, find a place to sit comfortably by yourself in the communal seating area and enjoy your food. Upon arriving in Atlanta, I made it my mission to eat at a food hall. And Atlanta's got some good ones. I chose Chattahoochee Food Works . Its food vendors were curated by Andrew Zimmern and partner Robert Montwaid. I tried a South African food vendor called Baked Kitchen. I've never had South African food before, so I was excited. This is Sosaties: Cubed Lamb and apricot skewers served on top of yellow rice with mac and cheese, pickled red onions, a tomato garlic chutney, crispy onions, chives, and drizzled with a jalapeño apricot BBQ sauce. I absolutely destroyed this plate. The lamb was tender and was perfect with a bit of apricot. The BBQ sauce was a perfect blend of heat and sweet and had me coming back for more. A delicious, unique South African food stall in The Works food hall. I've never had South African food before, so I was excited to try something new. I ordered the Sosaties plate, which included two grilled lamb skewers on a bed of seasoned rice, Mac and cheese, and some pickled vegetables. Everything was seasoned to perfection! I love trying all the South African fare the city has to offer, and I would say this is now one of my favorite spots. The meat was extraordinarily tender and everything I ordered was packed and just looked so dang good. Here's what I got: + Peri Dawg - For both dogs, I would say that the price is a little steep for what you get. They're so good that it's no dealbreaker, but if you're really hungry, I'd just spend a tad more to get the extremely filling plates. This was really good - I added crunchy onions. + OG Bobby Johnson - I liked this one better between the two! The cucumbers were delicious and crisp and tasted great with whatever white sauce that was with it. + Sosaties - this dish was outstanding. The lamb with the apricot was a match made in heaven. So was the apricot jalapeno BBQ sauce. I really loved the mac n cheese. Everything in that dish blended so well together. I would reorder this dish ten million times if I could! + Chicken Peri Peri Fries - the blistered cherry tomatoes were such a nice touch and added lightness to the fries. It took little longer then I expected. Waited 25mins. I understand it was weekend. The Chicken Peri Peri skewers($14.95) are comes with 2, cooked and seasoned wonderfully and sits on a bed of yellow rice with some pickled pink veggie(I don't know what kind) on the side. I didn't use both of the salad dressings provided since I didn't think it needed it. My husband got the burri plate and he said it was okay. This past weekend we visited The Works Upper Eastside. For those of you unfamiliar, it's essentially an upscale food court: it's a conglomerate of various restaurants and vendors. There's so many amazing options to choose from but Baked Kitchen definitely pulled us in. My group of friends and I were unfamiliar with South African cuisine, but we were approached by one of the owners who introduced himself and walked us through the menu and he completely sold us. They specialize in South African street food. We all selected the SOSATIES which is a two tender lamb kabobs served over a bed of rice with a side of Mac and cheese and this special South African hot sauce that is actually more of a chutney that is packed full of flavors. The lamb cubes on the kabob was so tender and flavorful (nothing gamey about them) and they were sandwiched between grilled onions and each end of the skewer had a chargrilled apricot. The Mac and cheese was creamy and decadent, there was a nice assortment of pickled red onions on the side. As stated above, I would describe the hot sauce as more of a chutney as it's full of flavor and not so much heat. All the flavors married so well. From the food to the customer service and the willingness of the owner to take the time to walk us through the menu and explain things to us, I would 100% recommend. It's always nice to be culturally well rounded in what you eat and I now have street food from a new country to add to my repertoire of good items I love. read more

The dishes are loaded with various foods including Mac and cheese, rice, pickled veggies, and various sauces. For the peri peri skewers it had the peri peri sauce and definitely had a kick to it. Overall the chicken and lamb dishes were fine. I probably would not select the lamb dish just overpriced and bland. My new fav stall at Chattahoche Foods Works. Most of the other stalls don't do a damn thing to lure you in seeming as thou there is heavy competition. I like how one of the workers an older South African gentleman was personable and educated me on the options as I was passing by. I love that there's some value to the dish about $18 with tax. But you should expect to spend at least $20 at any food hall on just one meal. I am a value person and the portions must makes sense. So I was pleased with the amount of food I was served, could be a bigger plate but almost everyone is snack size. It came with a base of rice and Mac and cheese. Topped with two chicken skewers, with some cherrie tomatoes and green onion. With a dash of sauce that reminded me of thousand island. It was very delicious I had to come back again the next day because I didn't get a picture ! It would be 5 stars if, on the second round and In General the chicken can have a little more herbs or seasoning to it. Nonetheless it was still juicy and tender. So when I was reading about the newest food hall and saw there was a South African vendor and told her, she was super excited. We met up on a Saturday morning to check it out. We decided to try the sosaties and since we weren't super hungry, we just ordered the one dish to split together, and my roommate also purchased a little packet of biltong to try. My roommate cringed when the guy at the register butchered the pronunciation. We paid and then waited... and waited.... And waited. There were a good 4-5 people who ordered after us who got their food first, which was pretty annoying. Finally, our food was ready and we took it outside to dig in. It smelled great, but I'm sorry but we absolutely hated it. The lamb was pure gristle and so tough it was impossible to chew. We were both gagging and spitting out the meat. It appeared to be covered in barbecue sauce (??) and was served over rice and Mac and cheese. My roommate remarked that she had no idea what was South African about barbecue sauce and Mac and cheese. Ultimately, we ate less than half of the dish. Which is pretty sad, because we only ordered one thing. We threw the rest away. The biltong she purchased was completely flavorless. Like, as in it was like chewing on a piece of nothingness. No meat flavor, no salt, no pepper, nothing. She ended up feeding the rest to her SO's dog. I got the peri dog, and all I can say is DELICIOUS. What a heavenly treat if you want to really indulge. I don't know the first thing about South African cuisine, but upon reading the ingredients, I was sold. If you've never had one, this looks kinda like a hot dog, but instead of the hot dog, there are chicken meatballs smothered in sauces and toppings. The combination of flavors is rich and refreshing and flavorful. Loved it. The fries it came with are also nice and crispy with good flavor. It took quite a long time to get my food, but it was clear they were making the food to order, and I was also there on a weekend, so it's to be expected. The service was friendly! The only reason I knocked off a star is because I'd expect to pay these prices for a sit-down restaurant, not so much a food hall.
