Best avocado toast i've had in a while. Very well seasoned and the toppings were just right. The bread was also very very good - the perfect vessel to hold up the generous servings. Coffee was also very good and they had other pastry options that tasted just as great (lemon bars were so so good, if you like it crisp and tart like i do). Definitely will be my go-to bfast spot when i'm in the area. They have a nice, big outdoor seating with heaters but parking can be a problem as it is very limited when the restaurant gets packed. read more

Got a iced agave latte it was good but I prefer stronger coffee so will need to add an extra shot or two if I decide to have coffee here again. I also got the ham and gruyere croissant it was amazing! Very flaky, soft and had a great balance of the ham and cheese. I wish I could've given this place 4 stars, since the food was good but we had a 1 star experience, that hopefully not everyone experiences. Most importantly, I want to say there seems to literally be 1 cook, and he was NOT wearing a mask most of the time. You order at the counter and there is seating in the backyard. There was only 1 other party when we were there, and it was a large-ish party of 6 people, but still when I order at the counter, I don't expect to wait FIFTY minutes for my food. I think we got unlucky though since the people after us did not wait as long, but certainly the table of 6 before us were also loudly complaining about their wait. During those 50 minutes we waited, we had NO service- no one asked is if they could get us anything like water, seemed annoyed when I asked them ONCE for a time update. As I was chasing my kids around trying to keep them sane, I saw from the door opening to the kitchen that the cook was not wearing a mask. I asked him how much longer it might be (had been 40 minutes at that point)-- he literally rolled his eyes and ignored my question. I know he could hear me since then I said "you should probably wear a mask in food service" because then he growled, and finally put it on after I didn't leave. Breakfast Sandwich was pretty good, but bread was a bit too firm, and this would've taken me 5 minutes tops to make at home. Stewed Borlotti Beans with braised greens, two fried eggs and salsa verde was absolutely excellent I will say. The beans and braised greens were perfectly cooked and well-flavored. This is an adorable cafe in Sonoma! The interior is well-designed and the outdoor space is a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee and a treat. Perhaps I didn't order their best menu items, because I wasn't super impressed with the food. The pumpkin cinnamon roll was just fine, but nothing special. And the pizza bagel was tasty, but kind of felt like a dorm room concoction. However, the coffee was delicious! I definitely plan on returning and trying something different. We came through here for the passport office in the post office. It's like the only place in the Bay Area you can get a next day appointment. Everything else was like 2 weeks. In order to avoid the expedited fee we chose this location. It was only an hour from the east bay. Cute small town and this place had renice sandwiches and speciality coffee. We also had a brioche donut with jam and one with Nutella. It was a little heavy but to be expected. I also got the bagel with cream cheese, salmon, capers, onions, and egg. So I came in looking for something with eggs. They suggested their egg burrito. I got that and a coffee. They made it fresh. Took a little longer, not a problem. For $18.00 or so, I got a burrito more than a foot long, and easily 2.5 inches in diameter. While I am a big man, this was enough to feed a family of four. It was huge, tasty and hot ( temperature. Like not microwave hot, freshly made hot). I had to eat it all, because I felt it would not be the same later or next day. I will not eat for the rest of the day as this was one fulfilling meal. What a great little bakery and savory goodies shop! I have driven by here so many times! On our way down to the Marin Farmers Market on a Sunday morning. We saw they were open and decided to finally try it and I am so glad we did! We had a wonderful lemon ginger scone, crispy on the outside, big chunks of candied ginger and a real lemon flavor as well. We also had a savory croissant filled with ham and cheese, the croissant was as good as anything I have had in Paris! My husband and I had one of the most amazing dinners we've had in recent memory. First of all, the escarole salad with baby beets, pickled onions & walnuts with a creamy feta dressing was imaginative, very delicious and a generous portion. Hubby had the Paul's farms tomato and melon salon with almonds and a lemon-olive oil dressing. The tomatoes were sweet and fresh tasting (as only summer tomatoes can be!) and the musk melon complimented them perfectly. The pork tenderloin with onion bacon marmalade was tasty as were the kale and potato gratin sides. My husband doesn't care for potatoes but I tasted the potato gratin and it was so good. I had the bouillabaisse which was head and shoulders above any that I've had in Sonoma county and reminiscent of France. Chock full of seafood, in a flavorful seafood broth topped with an amazing garlicky aioli and 2 pieces of perfectly toasted bread. This was seafood heaven!! The portion was so generous that I took half home with me. I had the orange & olive oil bundt cake and hubby had the mocha cream tartlet. Both made us swoon and if we hadn't agreed to switch desserts at the halfway point I have no doubt that we still would've cleaned our respective plates. Service was friendly, professional and responsive. The only area needing improvement is the ambiance because the space screams coffee shop. The food is top notch with an affordable wine list as would be expected in a white table cloth, romantic restaurant. The bare bones, utilitarian coffee shop look doesn't do the excellent food justice. We will definitely be back and strongly recommend going to Baker & Cook before reservations are unattainable. According to the website, Baker & Cook is doing summer dinners Friday and Saturday evenings. Just try to get a reservation. "For Friday & Saturday night summer dinner reservations, please text or call 707-509-9225," says the website. Well, after three calls over the period of five days, all of which went to voicemail, I have neither received a call back, nor a reservation. While the owners, alumni of the moved-loved Harvest Moon Café, are generally highly regarded in Sonoma, this lack of response is totally unprofessional. If you are going to be serving dinner and asking patrons to reserve in advance, at least give your prospective diners the courtesy of a call back, even if no reservations are available. Rookie mistake. Baker & Cook summer dinners are off my list. read more

LOVED this place! We frequent Sonoma often as we do not live too far and on one of my times out of time I decided to stop here for coffee, but then became intrigued by their menu. The roasted pork sandwich had so much flavor, and we could easily share it between two people. Given that, ordering the quiche was a good contrast because it was very light and almost served as a palate cleanser, as did the side salad it came with. Maybe the best kept secret in the North Bay. We love the quality and taste of everything we've tried at Baker and Cook. The baguettes are excellent and maybe the test of a great patisserie is the plain croissant, and they have my favorite in the Bay Area. I stumbled across this little shop on Yelp and decided to give it a try today. I'm always looking for good breakfast spots around Sonoma since I come here for work T-F and I'm terrible about packing myself a lunch. When I entered, I was greeted by 2 young gentleman, who I assume are the usual workers there. I let them know it was my first time there and they were suuuuper friendly and pleasant to order from. I did see other reviews mentioning rudeness but that was not my experience at all whatsoever. Really down to earth guys, kept themselves busy and engaged in small chitchat. Now, as for my order, I got an iced mocha, a Nutella-filled beignet doughnut, and their ham/egg/gruyere croissant sandwich, all for $20 (+ a couple bucks in their tip jar). First, the iced mocha. Suuuuper strong in regards to the strength of their espresso, did a good job of waking me up. I just think there was a bit too much chocolate/mocha to my liking because it drowned out the pungency of the espresso. I love tasting the roasted, bold flavor of my caffeine. In fact, I think I'll have to just try an espresso shot next time I come here. Hehe just another reason to come visit again! Next, the sandwich. For a "pricey" $10, tbh it's honestly worth it! The croissant itself is flaky and fresh, sooo delish. And the scrambled eggs were so fluffy and moist! I cannot sing enough praises for this place! My boyfriend and I were visiting for the weekend, and we went two days in a row! First day was breakfast sandwiches, and after the first bite we knew- this place is legit. Super flavorful and unique flavors- you know they know what they're doing. Second day I got biscuits and gravy with eggs- eggs were cooked perfectly, biscuits were heaven, and the gravy was gorgeous. A morning in Sonoma with friends. After leaving their house I stopped at Baker and Cook for late lunch an I'm so glad I did. I enjoyed French toast with apples and walnuts on their own sourdough. Perfect. Chewy crust and eggy goodness. I added the quiche with salad for dinner later. The quiche was great but the salad dressing put it over the top with the tang and sweetness of the best balsamic house dressing. I would go back to buy a jar of it! read more
