Baker Hill is a cozy neighborhood diner located not too far from highway (I-90). The menu offers a selection of breakfast and lunch. We cane here on a Saturday breakfast, and it was somewhat busy, but we were able to get seated right away. The food quality is as expected. They always give you more eggs than stated in the menu. For example, I ordered one egg+ sausage, and I actually got two eggs. One of us ordered the hash brown crispier, it came out good. But the other one didn't specify so it's a bit on the al dente side. So, I would suggest to be specific, and same go for the bacon. We also had more than enough to bring home.

The food was good except the tortilla soup, the soup looked like a made up soup, too much onion that's cut a little big, I had to keep picking it out, there is barely rice but a lot of celery, onion and carrots, they have the tortilla on the side which I was okay with but I hope they fix it. I love baker hill and just kinda shocked about the tortilla soup, this review is not not meant to be a bad review but for awareness.

Wow this place is fantastic. The eggs were delicious and pancakes too. Plus the owner of the restaurant stopped by our table and was lovely. Great place for breakfast! Friendly service and nice and clean too.

All I can say is just moving here from out-of-state finding a local restaurants that reminds me of home was just amazing. The food was great. The people are friendly. You get great service all around will definitely be one of my favorite go to places from now on if it's your first time coming here, ask for hope she is amazing and very friendly.

I was really disappointed I ordered on Uber Eats a skirt steak breakfast plate and I got a hamburger patty instead of a skirt steak. Also it just came with regular $1 bag of wheat bread I was expecting the heartier wheat toast restaurants serve. I also ordered chicken salad sandwich with soup. Chicken salad was nothing fancy just mayo and celery on once again $1 white toast. The bread they gave me for the soup was thrown in with my bag with no cling wrap or anything. Overall only ate hash browns, eggs, and soup. Do not recommend for delivery they might serve better via dine in. The hash-browns and eggs were good but I ended just feeding the burger to my dog which she didn't eat either.

Oh my! This place has great food! Take my advice and come with an appetite cuz they are gonna bring you a plateful! If you have a waitress named Tiffany bring your A game cuz she's a riot!! Always glad to see Baker Hill open. For us it's usually a breakfast restaurant. Fast friendly service and the food is fantastic. Try the chorizo omelette. Biscuits and gravy are definitely trip-worthy. Five stars.

Love baker hill. My favorite place to eat breakfast. I absolutely love it. I usually get the 2 eggs with hash browns, bacon and pancakes and/or toast. I go crazy for their coffee. Try to go during the weekdays when there isn't a big line or a weekend rush. read more

First time there and was very pleased! The skillet was so good and the portions are crazy! The place was packed with people from the minute we arrived to the minute we left yet we were still seated right away. Service was fast and our waitress was so friendly and attentive. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and a friendly environment also to anyone looking for a quick and inexpensive meal of great quality! read more

Great food! I've eaten their skillets, the biscuits and gravy and their Avocado Lotto (can't specifically recall the name). All very good! After good meals I really wish they did some sort of homemade, in season pie. Thats the one thing missing, pie! read more

What a great find! I was out in Elgin picking up a gift for my daughter and came upon Baker Hill Pancake House.....the nice lady at the Doll House store in Elgin recommended it. RIGHT ON SISTER! What a refreshing change from the raping and pillaging one experiences on the north shore for breakfast. My son and I ate like kings and the bill was $22 and I clearly over-ordered! A one-yolk egg omelet (special request) was as good and large as I have ever had. Bacon was crispy just like the lovely server said I should order it. I ordered something one does not typically find in Chicago-land: Biscuits and Gravy since I was feeling carefree after a Saturday morning workout. It was homemade, lots of sausage and delicious. Pancakes (which came with the omelet, yikes!) were fluff city....just great. The place was very clean, non-smoking as the other reviewer says and the bathroom was clean. What a great place! I love this place for a great cheap breakfast. Our bill for 2 people and a baby is usually under 15 dollars! They do have lunch/dinner type foods but I believe the closing time is around 2-3pm. Also the entire restaurant is now smoke free on the weekends. read more

Stopped in last weekend - glad we did! My boyfriend had a Fox River Skillet and I had Old Fashioned Pancakes (and stole some of his skillet haha!) The food was really good. Very fast service for being so busy on a Sunday afternoon - and very friendly waitress and host staff. I'd go back! read more

Came here on a Sunday morning, busy time. Was seated right away. Placed our order and got our food within 10 minutes. I ordered the Mediterranean Sunrise Omelet, so good! My fiancé ordered a skillet with pancakes and that was also delicious! Service was fantastic, even though they were busy. Didn't have to wait or ask for a coffee re-fill, he was just there! Not a bad breakfast joint. I've passed here many times and finally decided to stop in since I had a taste for breakfast during lunch. I ordered eggs with hash browns and toast. Pretty standard. The hash browns were a little burnt but the great service makes up for that. Everyone is super friendly. After I was seated, I waited about 4 minutes before a waitress came and she apologized for making me wait. That caught me by surprise since I'm usually waiting longer than that at other restaurants! I'll probably come back again. Good prices for decent food. read more

Another good breakfast spot, seven of us came in on a Saturday morning and they were busy but not packed. Service was great, the coffee refills were non-stop. The blueberry pancakes were good, fruit was in the batter not sprinkled on top. The waffles and hot chocolate came with whipped cream on top which made it a hit for the boys. Definitely a place to return to. read more

Extremely disappointed. My friend and I went there yesterday and the waitress asked if we would like any condiments to which my friend said yes ranch please and the waitress yells " why didn't you tell me before I brought your food over I hope you girls never have to waitress" I found this not only rude but offensive I'm a nurse that not only waits in people but feeds them, bathes them , dresses them , gives them meds and so on.. She doesn't know me how dare you talk to a customer like that?! Not to mention she was constantly touching my fiancé and calling him "honey" I've always enjoyed the food here but I will not be talked to like that and return. read more

this place is an upgrade from airline food. I am surprised by all the good reviews. that's the reason why we stopped here while on the road. my taco salad took me back to the days of my high school cafeteria. my fiance's club sandwich had aldi's quality deli meat. needless to say we weren't impressed. service was good though and portion sizes were good for the money. Moved into the area just recently. My daughter and I headed there on a Sunday AM for breakfast. Line was short got seated in under 5 mins. waitress was great. We got the cinnamon swirl french toast and red velvet french toast. Both were great the red velvet was a bit to sweet for my daughter so we swapped. Atmosphere was chill and very typical. Service was fast and good. Would go back for sure. read more

This place is great for breakfast - it's been pretty busy on Sunday mornings. I've had to wait about 15 minutes for a table at times. The food comes out very fast and very tasty. 2 eggs = 4, so you definitely get your moneys worth. The skillets are really good and the benedicts aren't bad either. read more

Food is good. But today, the waitress made a very rude comment to my fiancé and her friend. One of them asked for ranch dressing, only for the waitress to exclaim 'why wouldn't you tell me earlier when I was by the kitchen?!? I hope you girls never have to wait tables...' Food came out fast and service was spectacular. My coffee cup was never empty and all of our requests were taken with a smile. The food was your regular breakfast fanfare, good, but not something I would go out of my way for. As I walk in the door I'm greeted with the smell of freshly brewed hot coffee, our host who I have seen here on countless occasions asked us if we'd prefer a booth or a table."we have options?" I asked myself, we took a booth, immediately was served some of there delicious coffee (3 creams please), I felt loved. Our server who I might add was kind and friendly asked us if we would like to start soup, I had the tomato macaroni which in the hip hop community "the bomb" I ate that soup like there was no tomorrow, a couple minutes after I was ready to order my main course, now I'm a fan of skillets and I'm not gonna name a few of the places around town that serve some pretty weak one at that, let's say they need to take notes when it comes to portion size, I always end up getting the gyro skillet, maybe it's because I love the lamb. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

I went on a Saturday morning and it was busy but the space isn't cramped and there was no wait. Our server was so nice and helpful. My Mexican skillet was delicious and we shared a strawberry cheesecake pancake. Yum! I had never been here and am not familiar with the area, and Maple & Hash seemed to be a great place where my friends and I could yap comfortably and enjoy a great meal! I didn't take pics because I was too busy yapping but definitely want to give this place 5 stars. I'll happily recommend it to anyone who's looking for a breakfast/brunch spot in the area!

Just the other day I had their stuffed peppers. It comes with two ginormous green peppers stuffed, and a side of mashed potatoes and the bowl of soup; for 14 bucks. You can't go wrong. Now I have lunch for tomorrow too!

Because she was so busy, she didn't have an opportunity to check back with our table before bringing the check. When I politely asked if she could separate the bill, she responded, "It's a good practice to ask for it at the beginning, but I'll do it this one time." I actually agree with her, and I understand where she was coming from. That said, I also think it's a good practice for servers--especially during a busy lunch service--to ask customers whether the check will be together or separate before preparing it. It's also a nice opportunity to check if anyone needs anything else or would like dessert or coffee before presenting the bill. Overall, the food was excellent, and with a little more attention to those small service details, the experience would have been even better.

We had a "favorite" waitress for years and then she moved and so we were sad. BUT we found her again because some friends of ours who also request her found her at Baker Hill on Dundee Avenue. So all you people looking for Tiffany...she is at Baker Hill. We have eaten there before and always enjoyed the food. Now we have good food and the best server. It does not matter how busy she is she just seems to take good care of people and not all servers are that great with the senior crowd. She is the exception. My husband gets such a kick out of her and her laugh. I had the eggs benedict which is my favorite to try anywhere because without a good sauce, forget about it...theirs is very very VERY good. Totally pleased. My husband gets the country fried steak thing with the gravy and they have really nice tasting gravy. So glad we decided to stop in and find our girl Tiffany back. Baker Hill Pancake House offers a delightful breakfast experience. During my two visits, I enjoyed a croissant, egg, and bacon sandwich to go, which featured great customer service and friendly staff. The atmosphere is quaint and welcoming, with generous portion sizes. On my second visit, i ordered French toast, fruit, bacon, and cheesy eggs were all delicious, complemented by good coffee. I've been coming here since the 90's. George the owner knows how to put out a good meal. My favorite is the Haybaler's breakfast. It takes up the whole plate! The skillets are awesome as well. Overall, highly recommended! read more
