I never tried a Bakers. I read the reviews, and it cautioned me against trying the establishment. I had a friend insist to give them a shot. Fortunately, I did. The food was great, and the French fries were something I would definitely eat again and again. It wasn't just the food that was outstanding, but the service was impeccable! Laura and George assisted my husband and I. To say they were efficient would be an understatement. Both went above and beyond to ensure my experience was positive. I am incredibly disappointed and sick after eating here. I ordered the tacos yesterday evening (Monday, 6/29), and within a few hours, I ended up with severe food poisoning. I haven't been able to keep anything down since. I've eaten at Baker's before, but after getting this sick from their tacos, I will absolutely never be back. Management seriously needs to check their food handling, storage temperatures, and kitchen hygiene practices for that Monday evening shift because this is completely unacceptable. Normally I love Bakers, however the service there is now slow. Also, I really don't like the new aloha meal. This supposed to be a double burger with a with pineapple and teriyaki sauce and it's almost like a mini burger and the sad thing is the teriyaki sauce is sparse. Some bites just taste like a regular burger. Also the size is smaller than normal in my opinion for what you're buying. The pineapple drink doesn't compare to other Dole drinks at other fast food places, it's just okay. This is not anything I'm going to come back for. I agree with Teddy from the other day. My experience has been very similar. Other than that, the other employees are always very nice, polite, and helpful. Unfortunately, I've never had a good experience with the management here. The manager has consistently come across as rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, which really takes away from the overall customer experience. It's disappointing because the rest of the staff work hard and treat customers with respect. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously and works on improving how they interact with people, because the employees deserve to work in a more positive environment and customers deserve to be treated with courtesy. read more

So I ordered two burritos today and added the fresh new salsa and on the menu it currently saids for .79 cents and was charged almost $3 bucks which is half of the whole burrito price which I find ridiculous most places give you sauce or salsa for free with your purchase. For the 5 years that I have worked and commuted to Riverside/IE I have finally tried the infamous Baker's. I can see the love and hate behind it. Let's start off with the negative: the burger patties are severely under seasoned. I tasted all bun and tomato. Salt, pepper or even some seasoned salt would have altered the rating of this review. Second negative and it's more of an on the fence recommendation surrounding the chili. I would have preferred a more balanced, zesty and seasoned chili. This leads into the positives: the chili is very chili forward. It's not spicy but you can taste the chili powder for sure and I appreciate that. Some garlic and onion could make this a contender in the fast food chili game. The fries: fresh and hot out of the fryer. A lovely level of crispiness and salted generously. Went perfect with a side of ranch. Final positive: the presentation and freshness. Needed something fast , usually don't do fast food to often. Been to Bakers down by Cal Baptist a few times and always good. Went to the one in Woodcrest on a Sunday around 4pm. Drive thru and ordered a few beef tacos, ground beef burrito, fries drink. Tacos and burrito were absolutely horrible, the ground beef was dry over cooked and you can tell sitting for a long time, why you train your cooks to serve this? You can see before you put it in the tortillas or taco shell it's dry with char black pieces. Fries were decent and hot, coke was cold. Service was prompt and thorough at least, unless you take points off for the cook that actually made the food. I'm sure he's been trained not to throw it out. I had never visited a Baker's before... i'm not really from around here, and was just in the neighborhood for an event at the nearby MLK Jr. high school. I said out on foot, in search of food for a bunch of kids, and after picking up a box of donuts kitty corner to the intersection, I stumbled over here to see what giant bag of food I could bring back. The menu is sort of an eclectic mix of burgers & fries and fast food Mexican. I ordered a big bag of tacos and burritos, And a few orders of fries... Not nearly as cheap as the Del taco next door, but for whatever reason, the Del taco's dining room was closed, they only had a drive-through, and thanks to lawyers and insurance companies, you can't walk up to a drive-in window anymore in this country. But back to Baker's... The young lady that took my order was cordial enough, standing behind plexiglass. My food came out pretty quickly, and I started the slightly uphill walk back to the high school. Nothing particularly awesome or negative about the food, although a 10 minute walk in unseasonably warm November he did not do the hard shell tacos any favors. This is hardly the restaurants fault, but I'm not exactly sure these were five-star tacos to begin with. For a bunch of adolescents Who do not yet need to worry about the food they're putting into their systems, it was an acceptable lunch, liberally smothered in small packets of hot sauce, and washed down with soft drinks. The french fries were pretty soggy, but again... The ultimate recipients of them were not exactly connoisseurs, and no one complained. Not sure why I've never reviewed Bakers considering it was once my teenage hang out for cheap good food. The hubby and I stopped at a local Bakers and had a quick late lunch dinner date. First off it was like being a teenager all over again. (Not sure if that's a good thing or not). My mama meal with the beef burrito and a smidge of sour cream is the best. The reason why, you actually slide your french fries in the middle. All I can say was delicious. On the menu was also so their pumpkin pie shake. Have you ever had a shake with pieces of pie crust? It was delicious. I may be biased because I love all things pumpkin. This was definitely the highlight of my meal. What's sad is I forgot to take a picture. Next time I promise. The restaurant is open for orders to go and you have to have on a mask. We chose to go through drive thru and eat in our car and people watch...(always fun). If you want rude service this is your place. My husband is a disabled veteran and we frequent many restaurants in the area as we live only a couple miles from location on Van Buren Riverside. This restaurant that has the most rudest manager. Our visit was on 1/3/25 12:30 pm. We made an order and unfortunately the order included an extra taco. The manager (a woman, I believe name was Laura) was very rude when we returned the not touched or not opened taco. Then, when before leaving, I went to the counter get a refill on my ice tea, she rolled her eyes, did not speak, then filled it, and brought it back and dropped on the counter like she was mad. Never a word. Customers waiting in line were looking like, "what is wrong with her". We will never return to this establishment. When I first saw that a Baker's was being built over a year ago I thought, "Finally! Someplace local where we can buy burgers and tacos!" Seriously, do we really need another place selling the same thing as everyplace else out here? But I had a coupon for a free milkshake, so I went. It's a good thing too because their milkshakes run from about $3.40 to over $4 for a a fairly small cup. They were good though, but for more than $4, I'm expecting a half gallon of ice cream, not a 12 oz shake. In fact, you can purchase Thrifty strawberry ice cream at Right Aid for $3.50 per 1.5 quart container and make about 6 or 7 milkshakes that taste every bit as good as a Baker's shake. They also have Mr. Pibb which I like and not many places carry, so there's that, although I guess it's called Pibb xtra now. Since I was there, I also had the combo burrito, pretty good and just over $3, but I can get basically the same burrito at the Carl's Jr. a few blocks closer to me for less. Overall, I find the food here to be okay, the service was great and it was really clean, not surprising as it just opened, but the prices are higher than most all the other places around here that sell more or less the same thing. In my opinion, other than their milkshakes, I find the quality of Baker's food to be on the lower end of fast food. Really not the right place to open in a market already over-saturated with burger and taco joints. I'll only be back as long as they keep supplying me with free milkshakes. Actually, now that I found a good ice cream source for my own milkshakes, I see absolutely no reason to go to Baker's. Finally, to address the Yelper who has written a grand total of 1 review who thinks Baker's is a 5 star establishment, to be clear, I find Baker's to have higher prices for inferior tasting food than typical fast food, which why I rate them at 3 stars. No 3 star review has "raved" about Baker's, so you might want to get your facts straight. Miss them in my neighborhood as I now live in Menifee and we don't have bakers out this way. So the closest one to me is on Van Buren in Riverside. Do stop by there when ever I'm in that area. I don't know what happened. But the last two times we've come and get the pollo asada burrito it gets messed up. It's disgusting. The rice is like rice from the day before or something. I thought they changed the rice twice a day, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. But this was purely disgusting. Update 6.27.20 I came on Saturday. Ordered a bean cheese papas meal. Pollo asada burrito meal. BRC with jalapeño and chicken nachos. Only to get home and find that the Pollo asada burrito was missing. Tried to call the store because it's a 20 minute drive from my work only to talk to a sassy customer service rep who gave me attitude about "not being able to transfer to local stores, it's not a thing". Is anyone else confused about their New iced coffee drinks? It's Luke warm. No ice, The whip cream is a thin deflated layer of cream. And watered down with milk every time. I'm just not sure what I'm even looking at anymore. The old vanilla ice coffee drinks were perfect. Why did you ruin them?
