Today we decided to try the Cactus Blossom onion, yum! We both ordered the prime rib medium rare. Mine was perfect but my companions was more toward medium well and a bit dry. Kim got right on it, she removed the meal. Unfortunately or fortunately they didn't have anymore medium rare prime rib so my companion opted for a medium rare rib eye instead. It was so delicious, perfectly cooked, succulent and juicy. I will be trying the ribeye for my next visit. A supervisor also accompanied Kim to the table with the replacement meal to be sure that all was well for us. I have to compliment the level of service provided here. Kim was so gracious throughout our meal. This restaurant maintains a high level of service and food. I changed my 4 star review to a 5 star because of how they handled this return of the meal. They offer a full bar and serve a killer Margarita. The decor is rustic country lots of wood and some early American pictures. Beer signs everywhere and hand drawn portraits of some country western stars. Country music plays loudly in the background. It is casual, noisy, fun filled and family friendly. 5/5 Stars This was my first visit to a California Texas Roadhouse, as all of my previous visits have been in Tennessee and North Carolina. I've eaten at the Tennessee locations several times, and they've always had outstanding ribeyes, so I was excited to see how Cali did it. Because this review is epic (IMO) is wanna give a shoutout to Jacob one of the managers ,Daniel our server, Siera the Bartender and Danette also a Manager. When we walked in, one of the managers, Jacob, greeted and seated us, and he happened to be carrying a basket of those buttered rolls with that honey butter, to our table. My lady was definitely hangry, and I think he sensed it because he ensured we didn't have to wait to start eating. Jacob, thank you--I appreciated that more than you probably realized.. THE GRUB: Our first appetizer was the Rattlesnake Bites. They're fried balls filled with cheese and jalapeños. Flavor-wise, they were very tasty, but the texture just wasn't for me. I'd give them 2 out of 5 stars. The best way I can describe them is a ball of crispy crust filled with very soft, almost soupy cheese. Again, the flavor was great--I just expected a different texture. For our Mains my wife ordered the catfish with a loaded baked potato and a side salad. She loved it. She said the catfish was thick, meaty, and seasoned perfectly. The baked potato was cooked just right and topped with ,sour cream,bacon and cheddar, the salad was fresh, and she even commented on how the ranch dressing tasted homemade. Easy 5 out of 5 stars for the catfish plate. I ordered the full rack of ribs with loaded mashed potatoes, and we also got the loaded macaroni and cheese. Apparently, Texas Roadhouse really loves bacon and cheese... and so do I, so we were a perfect match! Everything was flavorful, comforting, and exactly what I was hoping for. 5/5 stars Our server, Daniel, was fantastic. He offered great suggestions, kept my drink filled without me ever having to ask, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. He played a big part in making our first California visit a great one. I also want to recognize Danette, who I believe was the general manager--or at least she carried herself like the person who keeps everything running. She was warm, funny, and genuinely cared about our experience. When she learned we weren't crazy about the Rattlesnake Bites, she immediately removed them from our bill and even gave us a complimentary appetizer for our next visit. That level of customer service says a lot about how they value their guests, and how she wanted our experience to be just right. Finally, a shout-out to Siera the bartender. She was incredibly sweet, and we really enjoyed chatting with her. Honestly, we almost wished we'd sat at the bar, she had been by her lonesome the hour and ten minutes we were there. As we were leaving, she reminded us that we could take some of those delicious rolls home. Since we had ordered a meal for our youngest--who isn't a fan of ribs or catfish--we were excited for her to try the rolls too. It was such a thoughtful ending to an already wonderful interaction. This was the second time I'd been to Texas Roadhouse since they opened, years ago. The food was actually really good. I had the marinated steak kabobs. Yummy. My husband ordered the ribeye, but his steak was most definitely not a ribeye. It was a NY strip, for sure He enjoyed the steak, bit it was NOT the steak he ordered. If you cannot tell the difference between a NY Strip and Ribeye, you should not be working at a steakhouse. My biggest issue with this restaurant is the noise level. We come every year on this day to celebrate in memoriam for my oldest step son as this was the last restaurant we took him to his birthday and was his favorite. This evening our waitress was amazing! Get on the waitlist and shave some time off we waited about 10 minutes after being on the waitlist for 20 on Friday night got on waitlist at 5:45. Ordered a 23oz. Hand cut bone in ribeye. Ordered medium and it was perfect see pics. Loaded baked potato and fresh vegetables. My wife and I split it and still had leftovers. Everything was great. My family regularly eats at Texas Roadhouse, so I am a bit surprised I haven't already reviewed this place. It is a great restaurant for 2 or a large group and anything in between. We often stop by after church and it seems many others have the same idea. Sometimes we have a wait and others we don't. There is a lot of seating and they get to you as quickly as possible. We have had some seating issues in the past but they are always striving to improve and I noticed some signage during our last visit that shows they are doing all they can to keep people take care of and paying attention to seating details. The food is beyond generous portions and the cost is extremely reasonable. You can easily split meals and have plenty. They are also generous with their dinner rolls, which are amazing, especially with the honey butter. I ordered the beef tips on mashed potatoes with a side of veggies. It tasted amazing. Everyone else also enjoyed their meals and we had plenty to take home for dinner. The staff were extremely pleasant and cheerful. I love the country music playing in the background. It is the perfect volume to be able to enjoy but not too loud so you can hear the conversation at your table. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. It took 20 minutes just to get water and bread. Another employee stopped by to take our drink order but told us she couldn't take our food order because she wasn't our server. After another 20 minutes, our server finally came over, laughed when she realized we still didn't have our beers, and told us they were out because her manager "was supposed to tell us." We ordered our food instead, then waited another 45 minutes before asking to have it boxed up because nothing had come out. Our server actually joked, "Are you in a hurry?" Food finally arrived about 15 minutes later, our beer was still incorrectly on the bill, and she dropped the food off with a quick "Have a great night" and walked away. Meanwhile, she had plenty of time to check on the tables around us, but ours was consistently ignored. We rarely get Sundays off together, and this was a complete waste of one. He round the bill up to the next dollar and the waitress questioned it. She asked if the tip was correct and I said yes, she asked if she did anything wrong and when we replied no, she got a little defensive and said "we pool our tips" trying to guilt trip us into leaving a bigger tip. Very disappointing experience. We were told the wait would be about 30 minutes, but after waiting for an hour and a half, we were still not seated. During that time, several larger parties that arrived after us were called and seated, while our group of fewer than eight people continued to wait without any updates. The most frustrating part was that we only got seated after speaking with the manager and expressing our concerns. Once we complained, they were suddenly able to find us a table right away. This was especially difficult because I was with my elderly father, who had to wait much longer than we were led to expect. If the staff had been honest from the beginning and told us the wait would be closer to 90 minutes, we would have made other plans. One of our most favorite places to go when we are in Bakersfield. I don't think I've ever seen it not busy. But they seat you rather quickly and have never failed to make it seem like we're the only table they have to serve. They don't hover, but your drink will never be empty. The food is as amazing as the service! Even at the busiest times, the place gets loud but not too loud so you can have a conversation with the people your table. I've told the managers, often that they have the best staff I've ever seen in a restaurant. Everyone is nice and happy to be at work. Once we saw a customer who was being very rude to the staff. Not sure if he was just having a bad day or he was a jerk all of the time, but the staff continued to treat him like everyone else. Not sure I would have put up with that jerk. read more

We visited for the first time last month and it was impressive. I'm not big at eating at steakhouses. I rather make it at home because you can buy a couple of steaks for $35-$60 and that will feed all of us that included me, my husband and my grown adult sons, whereas here we would spend $35-$60 per person. What I liked is that we were able to pick out our own steaks when we walked in and then go from there. After we were seated I noticed the place was almost full. This place seems like a popular place to go to. We were then given bread and that bread definitely reminds me of my childhood. Filipinos would agree that the bread tastes just like pandesal which is something I ate a lot growing up. On a side note, you can get that bread at Fil Bake Shop in Delano for super cheap ;-). The place is hard to tell how clean it is since the lights are dim, but I know food is fresh since there's tons of people coming in and out of this place. Staff is okay. We were greeted, but they are not too personable. That could be a good thing if you're like me and don't want to interact and just want to enjoy your food. I would love to come back. I recently saw how they do birthdays and I wish I took my husband here for his birthday to embarrass him. I'm all about putting him on the spot because he's a very quiet person. This place is so cool! I like the decor and the display of all the delicious meats is my favorite! I was so excited to be here arrived with my appetite to I gobbled lots on the soft, tasty bread that taste like churro, a big margarita and the free platter of onion blossom. It was great but by the time my food arrived I had stuffed my face and I couldn't enjoy the meal! Lesson learned ! If your looking for a good steak, don't look any further, this is your spot. Came by on a Saturday around 3pm and they were BUSY. Went to the bar area and luckily found 3 seats at the bar for my party and we sat rat away rather then waiting 45+ for a table. Our bartender was on it and very helpful so that was a plus. I went with a porterhouse steak. The price for this cut is very cheap considering how much meat your getting. Very good price when comparing it to other steakhouses. This dish can easily serve two adults, portion is insane. Everyone in my party loved their meal and we all agreed we would come back. Overall, would have to rate my visit a 8 out of 10. For starters got the cactus bloom onion: for entree had the all American burger and the Mrs and I split the ribeye and rib combo with baked potato, corn and grilled pinions and mushrooms.
