Really good buttercream sugar cookie. I was at the market to get lunch elsewhere, and I happened to see 1 buttercream cookie left at this bakery and went ahead and grabbed it. Very moist but cooked all the way through. The buttercream frosting is really good and has a nice fluffy texture. The cookie overall is the perfect amount of sweetness. They offered wide variety of cookie options to appeal to all coworkers and even had allergy friendly options that they individually wrapped which is a major plus when catering for a large group of people. I personally had their frosted sugar cookie and it was delicious! The frosting was sweet but not too sweet or over powering and had a nice smooth and creamy texture . Bakes By Lo is fantastic. I've had cookies from her back before she had her storefront in Hilliard, and she has always done a phenomenal job with cookies that look and taste great. She's made cookies for so many important events in my life - wedding, baby shower, 1st birthday, sister in law's 16th transplant anniversary and you can tell she takes great pride in her work. Got cookies? Bakes By Lo does!! This is one of my favorite hidden gems! If you are a cookie lover, well you need to try this place! Bakes by Lo is located in the Center Street Market- Hilliard. I literally drive across town just to get a box of goodies for my weekend sweet tooth. The snickerdoodles are by far my favorite cookie from this place and the best I've tried this far. My second favorite is the oatmeal sandwich cookie which is basically two large oatmeal cookies slapped together with some very delicious buttercream frosting! Best in the city!! Let's not forget the frosted sugar cookie! These must be very popular bc the counter stays stocked with these large cookies with a few swirls of butter cream on top! The cookies are always fresh, soft and chewy and very flavorful. The butter cream is absolutely delicious but could be too sweet for some(not me though). The cookies cost around $3-4 bucks but worth it bc they are pretty large. Decorated cutouts are also available and my go to is the strawberry cut out. It's one of my top favs and you can taste the strawberry flavor in each bite. There are small pieces of real strawberry in the cookie. These are seasonal so you can only get these during late spring to late summer. The plain/vanilla cut outs are good but for me I get a slight floury after taste. The decorating skills are on point and there are always cute designs available on the counter based on the season or holiday. I typically buy them as gifts for my kids teachers etc. There are several other treats offered like scones, cupcakes and another varieties of cookies. I keep up with new offerings/designs etc in their social media pages. This is a great place to go if you need some sweets for work or home! You won't be disappointed!!! read more

Laura makes the best cookies in town, hands down. Every cookie has the perfect amount of sweetness - it doesn't taste like you're just eating a brick of sugar like most specialty cookies. There are so many to choose from and I can honestly say I've never had a cookie from Bakes By Lo that I haven't enjoyed. I can't really say I have a favorite, but if she has the peanut butter cookie on the counter I'd highly suggest at least grabbing a few. Aside from the daily counter cookies, my wife and I recently brought some custom sugar cookies (which I still don't understand how she decorates them so well, her designs are insane) to a family party and everyone was blown away. People were asking to take some home and let us know multiple times just how good they were. On top of all of that, Laura is an awesome person. She's been nothing but nice since we met her and I can't recommend supporting Bakes By Lo enough! read more

I held my daughter's baby shower at the Crooked Can. We are required to use their vendors and Bakes By Lo is who I had to used. The cake was to be delivered to the event room at 1245 but when we got there at 1130 to set up it was already sitting out on a table uncovered. The top of it still needed finished and one of the workers was so kind to finish it up for me with the decorations I provided. I was so happy with how the finished product looked. It wasn't until we cut the cake that I noticed it had been baked too long and had a pretty significant dark brown edge around every layer and was very dry. I guess we are just used to having moist cakes. I had also paid extra to have strawberry compote as my filling in between the layers. We found a small amount of compote towards the middle of the cake and the rest of it was buttercream frosting. I have found great reviews for this bakery but most of them are for the cookies and not the cakes so maybe their specialty is cookies. read more

Found this by accident, we were checking off some brewery's on our ale trail, when we discovered Bakes By Lo. What a wonderful display of baked goods suited for every taste. I knew I must try something, but did not want to eat there as it would not agree with the sour I had just ordered. I stepped up to the counter and was greeted. I ordered a cookie and a raspberry lemon scone. Reasonably priced, I took my to go bag and went on my way. Later that evening after the days activities had come to an end, I remembered the Cooke I had forgotten in the car. I retrieved it and it was massive, I'm talking the size of a saucer or tea plate. The cookie was firm yet chewy. Great flavor and texture. I saved the scone for the next morning, and again I was not disappointed. The scone had a light frosting drizzle atop and large chunks of raspberries throughout. A hint of lemon tied the entire piece together. This was delightful with my morning coffee. So delightful in fact that I forgot to snap a picture! Now that I know this bakery is there, I'd return to Hilliard just for the sweets offered by Lo! read more

We stopped in and were greeted nicely. We asked what was thier most popular and the known for item . We ended up with 2 sugar cookies. The first was soft. With a butter cream icing it was great. The other was the know decorated sugar. It's hard dry and not anything special. I noticed a fly on a cookie to which the staff who waited on us said oh well we are not able to control pests so you just deal with flies in it. Wtf!!!! I'm no I don't want a fly cookie. There was no sanitary acts between getting a cookie that needed bagged and touching the credit card them moved right back into icing the fly landed cookie.. umm 9$ plus take for this experience was not worth it.
