This was truly one of the best meals I've ever had in the metro area! Everything we ate was absolutely divine. Out of everything we ate I'd highly recommend the Bread is Life appetizer (the honey jalapeño and maple pumpkin butters were beyond amazing), adding the blue cheese & fried onions to your steak, and having the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. The cocktails were strong and delicious, a dangerously wonderful combination. Our server was in training, but he was absolutely amazing--knowledgeable, friendly, and had firm recommendations. I only have two tiny complaints: 1) the filet mignon wasn't as amazing as expected after how hyped up it was (the blue cheese & fried onions really saved it) and 2) the knives were so dull it was hard to cut the bread and steak. We made reservations for restaurant week and the place was already packed when we arrived. We still had to wait a little for them to clean the table. Food was very good, I had filet mignon, medium well cooked, oysters from Massachusetts and their fantastic bread. Their bread was so good with the dipping honey butter sauce, which I am planning to make my own. Was really skeptical of this place since it's basically in the parking lot of the mall, which screams Olive Garden at best, but this was 100% one of the best places I've been at in the cities. The service was exceptional, food came out fast and hot and the waiter was like the nicest person ever. He even stayed around a while to answer some of my family's random questions about his heritage and what not ‍ also the interior is super cool, unique, and classy. It's a bit pricey and so I cheaper d out and got the Wagouda for $25 and it was absolutely like the 1st or 2nd best burger I've had in my life! Mouth watering just thinking about it. Excellent cocktails as well and you can tell they didn't skimp! My brother got a huge free dessert for his birthday as well. Will definitely be back for a celebration of some sort! read more

I am utterly impressed with my dinner experience this weekend. Not only was the ambience, a mix of sophisticated romance but the service was also impeccable, and I appreciated that our server walked through the menu when they realize that we were all new to this restaurant. We dined in to celebrate friendsmas with my out of state bestie and truly could not have showcased some of Minnesota's finest dining, then right here at Baldamar. We ordered their 10 ounce filet mignon, 18 ounce ribeye, and the hanger steak with chimichurri. If they wanted to give me a bowl of just the chimichurri with some crusty bread I could eat that all day for the rest of my life. It was a combination of zesty and Light with a good balance of fragrant herbs. All the steaks were cooked to perfection and were melt in your mouth. We also did a mix of sides, which are perfect to share as a table. We had the broccolini, the charred corn, as well as the spicy lobster mac & cheese. The best steakhouse outside of downtown, and maybe anywhere in the Twin Cities. It has a wide variety of cuts and other meal options. Like most high-end dining, you have shareable, family-style side dishes. Great options and generous portions. The place has a cool vibe and soft lighting. I've never been here without it being extremely busy, so make a reservation. Don't plan on dropping in. I've been here several times and the service is amazing. From the time you walk in until the time you leave as one happy camper. Met the general manager, Michael, who was genuinely interest in how we liked our dinner, service, etc. Reasons for a tough 4-star were minor. Nothing that should dissuade you from having a great meal here. Parking is limited unless your willing to walk 100'+. General mall traffic is never fun, either. While not the least bit unreasonable, the cost to dine is going to be on the expensive side for most people. Plan on $100 per person before adding a tip. Trust me, it's worth it!! Because it's so busy, along with interior design choices, it's above average for noise when compared to other high-end places I frequent. It doesn't distract from enjoying the meal. Enjoy! read more

3 of us went for restaurant week. The entire restaurant was very busy. The service was excellent. She was very friendly and answered all our questions with a smile. The martinis were very good. The Bread of Life for the table was very good. Now for the filet mignon; the very best steak I have had in the Twin Cities! Dined inside Baldamar since COVID, and things have changed a bit. Hand sanitizer and outside seating, as well as other safety measures, have been implemented to maintain safe dining. I also noticed prices on the menu went up (for example lobster sliders use to be $8 on happy hour menu and now $10), another change I noticed was they served celery with the siracha glazed wings instead of garnishing it with sliced fresh pepper and green onion. We visited for the Thanksgiving buffet. This was our first visit to Baldamar and we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed. The setup of the buffet was chaotic. The space was too small and wasn't organized well. They had a carving station/pasta station in the middle of the line and it was creating a back log of people. We didn't even end up trying the salad, ham, beef or pastas as they were all crowded and inaccessible. Why have live pasta station on a holiday buffet? Pasta's should have just been in a hot dish, it would have freed up some of the space. The stuffing was dry, the mashed potatoes were thick and it all needed seasoning. The rolls were hard as well. The Turkey and gravy were a big let down. The Turkey had a Cajun seasoning on it which is the same seasoning they use on there chicken wings, why? It was shredded, no nice slices and by the time we got to it there was barely any in the dish. The gravy was a white gravy not like a traditional brown gravy you would expect. Finally, the desserts were not fresh or homemade. It was very clear they were all purchased. Overly sweet. We were expecting a lot more for the $60 per person price tag. We spent over $200 for 3 people and it was not money well spent for us. read more

My sister and I went to restaurant for Happy Houry on a Friday and it was fantastic. Great ambiance, excellent service and a wonderful happy hour menu with lots of great options to choose from. We ordered from the happy hour menu and regular menu and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was soooo spectacular, she made great recommendations, was patient, friendly and polite. The restaurant itself is very nice and modern an the hostess were super pleasant as well. It was a great choice being from out of town visiting. And then we had some fried calamari. My favorite was definitely my boyfriend entrée, which was the Tamarind-Braised Short Rib. I decided to get the filet mignon with the blue cheese on the top. The blue cheese was definitely overwhelming, but the steak was cooked perfectly. We ordered a side of Twice Baked Loaded Potato, which was amazing. I enjoyed my meal with a glass of red wine. Described as including three cheeses, one was provided, the short ribs were dry and had no flavor. The saving grace was Andy B, who was engaged and attentive and offered a complimentary ice cream dessert. I will give serious consideration to returning. We were here dining outside (summer) we really enjoyed the experience all things considering. It was nice being outside AND having the opportunity to support our local service industry workers, and restaurants. the road noise was a bit distracting, but oh well. First things first: the cocktails were awesome. The one of note for me what the Gin Old fashioned: the Rhubarb syrup and Root beer bitters were one of the best drinks I had this year. A happy hour must! We had a gift card here after buying a $100 to use on our New Year's Eve meal (each $100 purchased you received an extra $25 for a Christmas deal). This was our second time here and was even better than the first time. We came specifically for the happy hour which rings 12-3 on weekends. We started with the bread if life, which isn't on the happy hour menu but it's absolutely necessary. The better is to die for! We next got the sriracha honey glazed wings, which were spicy and very flavorful. These wings are 100% on my top 3 best wings list - I can't wait to have them again. Caution, they are very spicy. We also had the happy hour burger. The special sauce on this burger is very similar to Big Mac sauce, which I loved. Very flavorful, along with pickled, lettuce and onion. You were able to add other toppings for an additional price. We paid $2 to make our a double. Lastly we got the pork belly spicy Mac and cheese. We had heard from other people at the restaurant that the Mac and cheese was to die for - we thought it was good but not amazing. Baldamar is the best steakhouse in the Twin Cities. The value for price is very good for what you get because you cannot go wrong with any of the appetizers and entrees on the menu. But you come here especially for their steak. We enjoyed every bite of our steak. My friend even ordered the miso sea bass fish, fried calamari and charred Brussel sprouts. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and we did not regret it. Their service is awesome too! The restaurant is very beautiful inside. There are ample parking for the restaurant. Went with a group of 8 and the steak was perfect! They were featuring 8oz wagyu beef so we ordered that as an appetizer. The tuna poke and the bread of life appetizer was good, I wouldn't recommend the brussels sprouts, mushrooms or the mash potatoes for the side dish. Truffle dipped fries is a must if you have room. All the entrees were perfectly cooked and everyone left very satisfied and full. We ended the night with lavender crème brûlée which I thought was a little too sweet and also the 50 shades of chocolate cake which was a bit dry. Service was phenomenal! We went here to celebrate our anniversary and are happy we did! The food and drinks were delicious! We started off with the meatballs (2 HUGE meatballs) and they were delicious! We also tried the black and white Manhattan and the margarita. I enjoyed the margarita. The Manhattan was a little underwhelming but that could just be a personal thing. We all ordered steaks and they came out PERFECTLY done the way we had asked for them. The twice baked potatoes were also pretty good! We ordered dessert and the portion sizes are HUGE, so I would highly recommend sharing if you are planning on getting dessert so that you don't go home with 1/2 of them! At this point, you're thinking - why only 4 stars? It was extremely loud. The ambiance was nice, but there are tables lining the entrance which make it seem crowded and the entire restaurant was just operating at a decibel level that made it difficult to hear the company you were with. For an anniversary dinner that was not ideal. Additionally, I'm not sure the price was quite worth the hype. The food was good, but not $600 for 4 people good. We will likely come back for another special occasion, but the restaurant will not be in our regular shuffle of places to eat out. read more

Enjoyed an awesome dinner, the steaks are USDA Prime and cooked to perfection. We loved the atmosphere, it was not noisy like so many restaurants so you could actually enjoy conversation and the decor was cozy. The big reason I'm providing a review is because of the awesome service. At the price of the menu items you expect great food and surroundings (and it was delivered, and worth it) but the hard thing to execute on is service. Too many upscale restaurants have wait staff that adopt a snooty attitude that is supposed to make you feel bad if you don't order their suggested drinks and appetizers or they just are obviously just parroting the daily script. Our server was Felix and he was in the sweet spot that every restaurant owner wants, sell your menu rather than push an up-sell. Felix's explanation of the menu and his suggestions came across totally as informative and helpful. Felix was enthusiastic about what they had to offer without being obnoxious, again, not easy. We had the Chimichurri Shrimp appetizer, excellent, and I had the NY strip and my wife had the filet, both cooked perfectly and shared the twice baked potato. What a treat this meal was! As soon as I heard that this restaurant is the brain-child of the co-owner of 6Smith, I knew I had to come here. We decided to visit for Valentine's day and we were not disappointed. Reservation was made for 5:45 and we were seated only 5 mins late - not bad for one of the busiest restaurant days of the year! Our server was very diligent in describing the new restaurant and the menu items. The menu is huge and we were debating what to get and we decided to start off with his recommendations - brussel sprouts and street corn. Oh. My. Gosh. The brussel sprouts were out of this world incredible - best ones I have ever tried ! Had a slight sweet soy/garlic flavor that was just irresistible. The corn was amazing and tasted just like Elote albeit a bit more oily with the sauce at the bottom. Couldn't stop eating! Husband got the chimichurri hangar steak and I got the scallops - both were amazing in their own right. The chimichurri steak was slightly tart but delicious. The scallops also had an asian-inspired flavor to them and I loved them! Very thick cuts of scallops and very soft. The gnocchi was some of the best I've ever had. We were stuffed after that dinner but still saved room for dessert and decided to get the apple cobbler. Oh my. It was soooo delicious!
