My garage door collapsed when I opened it around 5:15 pm Friday at the beginning of a long holiday weekend. Called Jake based on a review in my local Nextdoor Westlake Village. Seems that 18 months earlier, I had the springs replaced by a company that either didn't have the right spring on the truck or just didn't know what they were doing. Came home from work yesterday and was mortified to see that our garage door was tilted to the side and looked like it was about to break. My husband will never admit that he was the one who broke our garage door by leaving the trash cans where he wasn't supposed to and closing the garage door without realizing the trash cans were in the way. Through my flawless deductive reasoning skills, I ruled out all other suspects (our two dogs who could not reach the garage door button even if they tried). I found Jake on Yelp and decided to give him a call based on the fantastic reviews and he did not disappoint. He came out the same morning and was able to diagnose the problem within a minute of looking at the garage door - apparently a broken spring was making the door stick. He replaced the spring and lubricated the chain and screw drives, hinges, track, etc. and now it works like it's brand new. It's also much quieter than before. Several people in the group recommended him so I called to see if he could come out on a Sunday night. He asked me about the issue we were experiencing and helped troubleshoot it over the phone. He has done repair work as well as replaced my garage door. Yes, AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! We have not had service like this in years. I called Jake this morning, on a Friday, in 104 degree weather, and told him about our one garage door not opening. He said that he would try to fit us in, and less than 3 hours later he was in our garage fixing our older model garage door opener. Jake just left and charged a very reasonable amount for his time. Here's my experience with him: From the first day we moved into our new house in 2010, we'd been having problems with its rickety old 1970's wooden garage door. It weighed a ton and the chain kept breaking, it was very difficult to open and close manually, and just seemed like a deathtrap waiting to happen! For years we called various small garage door repair places to come out and do quick "band-aid fixes" to it, but the fixes never lasted and we kept saying "We just need to get a brand new garage door." Finally a neighbor recommended Jake to us. He came out on a Saturday, looked over our old wooden garage door, and instantly diagnosed all the things the other repair guys had done wrong. He offered to save us money by letting him take a shot at fixing it, but I was fed up with the rickety old thing and just wanted a new door. So he took our order for a new, modern roll up door with windows. He was back the very next Thursday! It only took him from 10:30 - 2PM to install it, and it looks & works fantastic. I couldn't be happier with the results. Jake is super professional, fast and efficient, did an amazing job, cleaned up the mess afterward, and hauled away the old door for us.
