I have no idea how this place does not have 5 stars. Baleen was unreal. The ambiance, the drinks, the food, the service - everything was impeccable. The day of my reservation, our party increased from 3 to 8. They were able to accommodate that request, even though it was fairly last minute. When I initially requested a reservation, I requested we sit outside so we could enjoy the typical beautiful Florida weather. The day came, and it rained nonstop. They called to let us know we would be moved inside rather than assuming we would figure it out. I thought that was really a level of service that went above and beyond. They were so accommodating to a group of 8 of us. Sometimes when you have a group so large on a vacation, wrangling everyone can be like trying to heard cats, as was the case with my group. We arrived on time for the reservation, but the group wanted to have drinks outside by the fire pit first since we finally had a span of weather without rain. The outdoor area is beautiful. They have a lot of fire pits to accommodate many parties, and we were able to get one. The ocean is just a few steps away, and you can hear and see the waves while you eat. Had the weather not been so overcast that day, I'm sure we would have had an incredible sunset view! The menus are so cool! They are tablets, which is such a great idea! I'm a very visual eater, and loved that if you click on a food selection, a new page opens with a photo of the food, a description, and wine pairings! We had drinks and appetizers by the fire pit, then asked if we could move our reservation back outside since the weather was clearing up. They again, accommodated the request. However, the weather gods were not on our side, and it started to rain again before our entrees came, and they were able to move us BACK INSIDE! They were quick, efficient, and gracious every step of the way, which we appreciated so much. If what I've said so far doesn't make you want to go here, let's talk about the food. We started with the seafood tower and charcuterie plate. The seafood tower was fresh and delicious. The charcuterie was equally amazing. The entrees were all beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Multiple members of our party got the lobster and truffle risotto. I usually steer clear of truffle because so many restaurant overdo it. This was perfect. As everyone started eating, silence fell over the group as it does when people are really enjoying their food. We are all foodies, so everyone was sharing bites of their meals. I ordered the Branzino, and tried the risotto, salmon, and local gulf catch, which was grouper that day. Wow. Everything was impeccable. The lobster was cooked to perfection and not dry or rubbery in the least. The salmon was so flavorful. I loved my branzino. It was light and flaky and filling. Our drinks and water were always full, and plates were cleared effortlessly sometimes without us noticing. We will certainly be back here. I've found a new favorite restaurant in Naples! read more

Then we ordered the filet mignon which was very tender & red snapper with mushroom risotto which was absolutely delicious as well. Elitist staff. You can get food that is better with the same sunset view in so many other places in Naples, especially if you are just visiting. If you spend some time here in Naples, don't bother. I will not be taking my out of town colleagues or friends here, it does not represent the vibe of Naples-- not with the elitist staff they have right down to the valet. My husband and I re foodies and we almost always dine out every night . I wont be going back here either. Naples represents upscale living with great food, and good people. Called and made reservations to have drinks and watch the sunset. When I made the reservation I told the hostess we would only be having drinks. We were sat and then the server Mario came over and took our drink order. After we received our drinks the waiter Mario came back over to take an order. We told him we would only be having drinks. He was extremely rude and told us that we couldn't just have drinks and that we had to move and just pointed to places we could sit. He just walked away after that. read more

I'd like to preface that we have eaten here two other times and were treated wonderfully by Adriano, notice the 2 stars. Once for our engagement, that my now husband spent $800+ to be on the beach . And then another time for a regular dinner. But this time, I took my parents and we were treated so horribly by the waiter with a (French?) accent, I don't know that I'll be back. The waiter had no recommendations, was chatty with everyone else & acted annoyed with any question we had. My dad is hearing impaired and the atmosphere was so stuffy, I was SO embarrassed that I had recommended this place to parents from Kentucky. Super disappointed and kind of felt like our waiter judged us by our southern accents. The food was good, but we were relieved when it was over and we could just go down to the fire pit area. read more

Spectacular place to dine in Naples. There are not many places where you can enjoy a drink and a meal with your toes in the sand. Incredibly romantic during sunset. The food was great, the drinks not so much but the ambiance made up for all the drawbacks. Beware that it is very expensive, you are paying for an experience. The service was okay, some orders forgotten and not the friendliest of interactions but the staff had likely worked long hours and it did not put a damper on the evening. Our experience started with excellent service and continued till the end The price of the Brunch Buffet was less than on our last visit, so we all made the choice. Beverages were included and the deletions were what you see on many Buffets. All who partook of this he Eggs Benedict gave compliments and the Gentlemen on the Omelet station was recognized from the Ritz and he brought his skills along and made some beautiful dishes I dove into the Lox station and was happy with the choices, including either crime fresh or sour cream with the only minus to the meal: stale mini bagels. Instead of giving the valet a good tip, the restaurant is charging $5 for parking and then you need to tip on top of that. We were given a gift certificate to Baleen's. We had been there once before at the bar but never the restaurant. This experience was terrible. The cerviche was chewy and not fresh. After a single bite we returned the dish to the kitchen. Not much more could be said for the PEI mussels - not fresh, not flavorful. Additionally, while this restaurant has appeal since it sits on the water, there is no redeeming value beyond the presentation of a beautiful sunset. The main course, risotto, was bland, pasty and thick. Hardly worth the $41 entree price. Apart from this, I find in inexcusable to be charged $8 for bread. What restaurant goes this? Note if you do decide to disrespect your 'Washingtons' and dine here, only order the bread only if you enjoy a doughy texture. There are many great choices to dine in Naples. Besides the view, not much to like After a disappointing try a year or so ago, we decided to give Baleen another try and were once again thwarted. This place makes everything so hard. First, we were greeted by the hostess with military efficiency and demeanor. No hello. No how are you this evening. The woman who saw us to our table simply said "follow me". She sat us, handed us menus, and left without a word. And this was not unusual, based on our other visits. The front desk staff in our experience has never been either polite, gracious, or friendly. Next, two waiters fought over who was supposed to cover our table, and in the process got our drink orders wrong. In the past, we loved their lobster bisque, but it was clearly off that night. One of us couldn't eat it - it was ultimately removed from our bill. The table next to ours sent their's back as well, and we overheard their waiter saying the kitchen confirmed something was wrong and they were remaking it. It tasted more like tomato soup with lumps of lobster meat dropped in as an after thought. Very strange at a formerly top tier restaurant like this. The steak was bland and not particularly tender. I've had better purchased at Publix. The only bright spots were our waiter who tried hard, and the view. And call me crazy, but after dropping $200 for dinner for two, don't you think they could comp the $5 valet fee. The whole process seems so hard. read more

I called them 3 days before my Anniversary, to make a reservation. I told the lady on phone that it's my anniversary and asked if they could do anything special. She said: we put flowers on table. They sent me a message to confirm the reservation. I did confirm and I called two hours before to re-confirm! I walked in, the hostess asked me if I have a reservation, I gave my last name. We followed her outside, there wasn't any table reservation. She said: I'm sorry, do you want to stay inside? I told her we had reservations and you don't have a table for us? She said: We have but those are for parties more than two! So we left. Terrible service and experience! I have my own restaurant so I know very well how this kind of business works. Came here for dinner, and it was good! We wanted to sit outside, and the patio seating is lovely. Unlucky for us, it was a little windy so they had the plastic cover over the area. We still got a nice view, but not the perfect outdoor experience we planned for. We ordered a bottle of the red wine (I forgot which one), and it was tasty but we looked up the wine on our phones and realized the upcharge on the bottle was triple the retail price! Kind of expected in most restaurants, but still a little disappointing! For appetizers, we ordered the bread and the beet salad. Both were very tasty, however I don't know if the bread was worth it- it wasn't warm, and it was just okay. For entrees, we split the scallops and the special which was sea bass and clams in a broth with artichokes. Both of these dishes were awesome! I'd definitely order either of those again. We also split a side of Brussels sprouts, and these were probably the low point of the meal. The portion was kind of small for sharing, they weren't crispy like we expected, and they had a weird sweet aftertaste that we both disliked. I could definitely make better Brussels sprouts at home! For dessert we tried the mango bread pudding which was really good, and a couple of the dessert coffee drinks, also delicious. Overall, solid meal, but some of the dishes a little overpriced or just not great. Would come back but be careful about what I order next time! read more

Every trip to Naples, I come to Baleen for breakfast because there's no where more lovely to enjoy the morning. Every year the food is delicious. However EVERY year, the service is terrible & this year was no exception. Baleen, I know you are going to have customers no matter what in the morning due to the view & great food, but please hire morning people - or at least people that want to talk to customers and give them great service. We celebrated our 41st Anniversary at Baleen's! Our server was Patty and we can't praise her enough, she was excellent! We started with a bottle of wine and chose a beet salad to start, which was amazing! We chose the special which was prime rib and it was done perfect! The view was gorgeous and so was the sunset! This restaurant was good. We had lunch and dinner here because it was in our hotel and it was our first night. The staff seemed a bit dismissive and not friendly at all at both meals. The "catch of the day and scallops were excellent. Their drink prices were excessive for the quality of wine they offered. Being from Kentucky/Cincinnati We are knowledgeable of choices for bourbon at a premium price. The room service - the Caesar salad was ok I'm glad we got the dressing on the side. The shrimp cocktail was over cooked and we asked them to take it back. The tuna tar tar was mushy, the lobster roll was better where we can m from in cincinnati. My husband and I went to Baleen for Naples Restaurant Week. This is a week of prix fix menus with special pricing set up to benefit the Naples Humane Society. My husband and I were celebrating our 31st anniversary and his birthday. From beginning to end Baleen made our celebration enjoyable. The food was superb. I started with the Gazpacho, then had the Pork Maritsa, and finished with Coconut Vanilla Panna Cotta. My husband started with a roasted beet salad, then had a crusted Delmonico Steak and finished with a decedent Chocolate Mousse. Each course complimented the next. Sometimes it's the little touches that make a meal special. A long stem red rose on our Gulf side table! The happy anniversary and birthday wishes on our desserts.
