This is a review for eyelash extensions and mani/pedi. I decided to try eyelash extensions back in Feb. Basically Lisa glues on natural looking eyelashes onto your existing eyelashes. The result was that it looked natural, not fake or overdone. I got a couple of compliments on how natural it looked. It does take about an hour but you're laying down so it's quite relaxing. You do have to make sure not to get oil on them and you have to wash around the extensions and brush them with those eyelash wands. The lashes lasted about a month but it was hard for me to maintain them and either the glue or lashes just irritated the skin around my eyes. The price is reasonable but they just weren't for me. As for the nails, this is what I've been doing for self-care. I've never been one to keep up with my nails. I just never found a nail technician who I liked until Tracy. She is really sweet and has been doing mani/pedis for me. Plus the spa chairs are soooo comfortable. Prices are really reasonable. read more

I really love coming here! I used to get my nails done at Angel nails back when Cody used to work there. Unfortunately when he left I also happen to be pregnant so I stopped getting my nails done and it had been two years since then. I semi recently started wanting to get my nails done again and I was looking around everywhere, I found this place local to me as I live in San Jose but the woman who did my nails... Honestly I did not like them at first. I think they grew on me just because I figured well I am going to have them for two weeks so no use crying about it. However my friend ended up going to Kathy at the Balentine Beauty Salon and She raved about the nails that she got. After she sent me a picture I was like I absolutely have to try that spot out! My first time here I met Kathy and she is just an absolute delight. She is very personable, very friendly, she gets you laughing very easily. She does just such an amazing job on the nails. Each visit I have left feeling so happy about my nails. the time and the effort she puts into them really shows and I am so grateful for that. To top it off she is even cheaper than the previous woman I went to so now I just give her a bigger tip because she's absolutely worth it. Also the longest I have gone before getting a new set of acrylics was 3 1/2 weeks and there was still no raising by the part that's closest to the cuticles, there is no breaking no loss of color, no damage whatsoever. The quality at this salon is absolutely amazing, if you are on the fence or if you're looking for a new spot (and I know how hard that can be because I was looking for over a month for a new spot) try this place out! Tracy did an awesome job! I got a gel Manicure and pedicure. She is very efficient at what she does. She told be she's been at it for 15 years.. and you can definitely tell. Too bad she only specializes in nails, bc I love her attention to detail. This is located in the same complex as FoodMax. There's plenty of parking. The salon is well kept, but a little dated. It took a lot out of me to post this because I've been going here for about two years. TRACY is an awesome human being she does real good on clean up. I was paying 45 for a classic mani pedi or 55 gel medi & pedi. As time went on Tracy charge me 75 for gel mani and regular pedi & my 12 year old son for his first pedi $30. My nails chipped the very next day with a classic mani. She said come in I will fix. She said just do gel but I didn't want to pay more and my my nails were thinning because of her technic also the none gel chips three days later. She painted them again and chipped really bad. My nail paint chipped alot but this is the first time I spoke up. read more

Horrible experience with Japanese hair straightening with LISA!! She told me she have done hundreds of treatments but my hair says otherwise! Completely damage. Had to go to another salon to get most of my hair cut off and spend additional $200 to condition my hair. My hair is process with highlights and anybody that works with Japanese hair straightening would tell client that they can't do it. She just wanted my money. Treatment left my hair dry and brittle. Lisa tried to cover the damage hair by cutting the hair that was damage during the treatment. Left huge misshapen gaps on my hair. She said she was doing me a favor. She couldn't even give me a proper hair cut. I attempted to get my money back but Lisa told me she can't refund me for the products she used and she spent so much time on my hair. This place is a hidden gem and my girl Lisa is absolutely fantastic! I've gotten cuts from other areas around Fremont and no one compares to Lisa. I usually just get a wash and cut for $25 + tip. She's pretty busy (at least when I see her) so it is probably best to call her for an appointment just in case. Even when you do schedule, give yourself at least 10 minutes of cushion time because sometimes she's there by herself (working hard!). Time isn't always punctual, but the quality of the cut for the price is hard to beat! One year my sister had a bridal shower at a fancy salon in SF. So that summer I got my haircut there instead of at Balentine for like $70 or something. Don't get me wrong, it was a great haircut and really nice salon. But it was in SF and it was $70. When I came back to Lisa, she pretty much gave me the same quality of haircut/style for much much cheaper. Plus, Lisa is a very sweet and cool gal. It's always fun talking with her! To the left of Food Max next to the Manna Restaurant sits this clean and spacious hair salon. Lisa (the owner) is sweet and soft spoken yet with the strongest and most magnificent thumbs. She immediately takes me to shampoo and massage my scalp. Warm water, strong fingers and circular motions...I nearly melted. For the men....she doesn't charge for this service. Lucky you. She is considerate of my preferences and gives her opinion as to what would work with my hair type. She asks several times if she should cut more off of my hair instead of hacking away at it and asking questions later like other stylists I've experienced in the past. She even tells me how I can recreate the blow-out at home and gives me tips. I would go here just to get my hair washed and massaged. For 25 dollars (shampoo, massage, cut and blow-out)....this place is a steal. I am so happy I found this salon. I needed a haircut and happened to drive by and see that they weren't very busy on a Thursday, so I walked right in. I went in and they were able to immediately start on me. Tina was the lady who shampooed my hair, and it was the most awesome shampooing and head massage ever. It was just what I needed. Lisa was the one who cut my hair - I asked her to cut 2 inches and give me layers, and she executed perfectly. At some asian salons they go overboard with the layers and give you a fobby look, but she didn't. She was careful to do it the way I wanted it. She finished with blow drying and straightening. They took their time and did a great thorough job, and it was only $25. Both Lisa and Tina were extremely friendly. I loved it so much there, I came back the next day with my husband so he could get a haircut as well. My hubby was happy with his $15 haircut (shampooing included) The salon is a good size, and is very clean. They have a lot of pedicure stations with the massage chairs, so I decided to get a mani-pedi after Lisa told me about their $30 mani / pedi deal! Lisa did my nails, and they turned out great. I never even knew this place was there! I went to a dentist visit and my usual parking spot was taken so I decided to park farther out. I then saw that they had a sale on hair products and decided to check them out after my dental appointment. The place is relatively small but the lady attendant was very friendly and eager for me to make a purchase. lol She made quite a few suggestions on hair products but I decided to stick with what I've used in the past so I bought a bottle of biolage shampoo and got the conditioner half off. I really like this place. I've tried a handful of other locations to get my hair cut; union city, and another place in Fremont. I didn't like either place because they were super packed, crowded, and noisy. Not to mention a little bit dirty. And all had a very "get them in, and get them out" mentality. Not the case at Balentine's Salon. I have had my hair cut with both Linh, and Lisa, and both are fantastic people to work with! Very kind, and very welcoming. Also, they know how to cut hair ... seriously awesome. Their place is really spacious and does not feel cramped like other places. Also, cleanliness is a priority here, and it's very apparent. Very clean, which a big plus. I'd highly recommend supporting this local business. I know I'll be coming here from now on for my cut and trim needs. Calling ahead of time for a reservation would be wise if you're tight on time and all. $15 gets [guys at least], a cut, and a hair wash (and a nice short head massage). read more
