Came here a week or 2 ago to get my hair cut after 2 or 3 years. Ria was the one who did my hair, and I was very satisfied with the way that she cut my hair. She asked me what I wanted, and I told her that I wanted a layered cut, but that I didn't want my hair to be overall short. She got on to cutting my hair, and the end result was exactly what I wanted :) Fast forward to today, and I came back to Hair Express to get my eyebrows done. I have never gotten my eyebrows threaded before, so I was a bit nervous about what to expect (I've seen the ones at the malls, and they looked so painful), but Sangeeta is a gentle woman; the whole process was nearly painless, and she is a very sweet woman. She made some small talk with me while she was doing my eyebrows, which helped make the whole thing go by quickly. I was a bit awkward when she would ask me to hold my eyelid a certain way, but she said that it was understandable since this was my first time. Overall, I was also pleased with how my eyebrows turned out ^_^ it was also very inexpensive which is a plus for how it turned out. I will definitely be coming back to Hair Express for not only getting my hair cuts, but also for getting my eyebrows done! read more

Edit: Just straightened my hair since my cut and am realizing the extent of how bad this haircut was. How do you even botch layers this badly? When a customer says "my hair is easier to cut wet" just take them to a sink instead of misting. Curly hair needs to be wet to understand how the layers will fall when dry. Now my layers are botched, uneven, and I'm going to have to get damage control done. --------- Probably good for most people, but I won't be back. Haircut wasn't bad, but I'm not 100% thrilled by it. Just a tip to the stylist who did my hair, please learn curly hair care. Curly hair should never be brushed (except with round brush while blow drying) and should be combed from the ends working up to the roots to get rid of tangles before brushing root down. It's also easier and more tangle free to keep the hair pretty reasonably wet, not just misting every 10 minutes. read more

Review is for Sangitah! She is the best at threading brows. She is so sweet & remembers my name whenever I come in. I come in about every 2 weeks & make sure to call ahead so I don't have to wait. She has her own personal room which is really nice because no one is staring at me while I get my brows threaded! She is really fast, but does an excellent job. I am writing a review for Sangitah! I have actually gotten my eyebrows threaded by her twice. My usual spot was closed the first time I came (I usually get my eyebrows waxed) and today when I went to my usual spot they didn't have anyone who could wax my eyebrows and I'm actually kind of glad that happened because my eyebrows came out great! She did a good job the first time as well! I was afraid of getting my eyebrows threaded because I heard that it hurt, but when she started threading it actually did not hurt at all! I even got my lip threaded (mustache area) and just like the eyebrows, it did not hurt at all. She works fairly quick, but she still does an amazing job! She only takes cash! I got my eyebrows and upper lip threaded for $12, but $15 with tip. Even though the shop says that they take Visa and Cash, she is independent from the shop and probably just rents the room out. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover (or title)! First off, from phone manners to in-person impressions the staff is genuinely nice and helpful. Not only did I receive great service from Tom, but being the nosey filipina that I am, I noticed how the rest of the folks working there treated each and every customer who step foot in the joint. As smiling customers left, while I was waiting for a chair of my own, TWO families came in after me asking for cuts. They were greeted nicely, given time estimations, and were even offered to have the kids' favorite TV show on while they waited. Not one worker seemed annoyed or rushed- especially not Tom, who was shampooing my hair by this point. I have really thick hair, and a LOT of it, so a lot of salons don't do a great job with shampooing and conditioning.. I've come to expect and accept this. NOT so with Tom. He actually took the time and work to really- I mean REALLY- do it right. It felt sooooo good! He made good, natural conversation too. Seriously though, I've never had someone shampoo and connection my hair so good (not even myself lol)! We get to the chair and chat about what I wanted- he made sure he understood specifics before picking up the scissors. As Tom is doing his thing- I "overhear" this other lady stylist talking to the little girl (from one of the families) about the progress of her cut. Asking if the layers are good enough, does she want bangs, "Mom, what do you think too?". That's telling right there- great service. Went to see Sangeeta for threading. She was quick and did a great job. Plus she was very friendly and quite inexpensive. I would give a 5 star, but the place was slightly divey, but hey for the service and price, it didn't really bother me. Tom does a great job. I've been here several times and I plan to keep coming back. He knows how I like my cut and only charges $20 even though I have thick hair. It usually takes about 20 minutes so I'm in and out with great hair. Tips: They do not do shampoo or blow dry but that is why it's so affordable. He'll offer to style/straighten your hair but it's faster and cheaper if you don't do that. All around I love this place. Always pleased with my haircut and the price. read more

I read a review written by my yelp neighbor Tien about his mom's shop. I had to coordinate a wedding for a friend this weekend and decided I needed to look somewhat presentable. I gathered that this would involve more than washing and combing my own hair. I asked Tien about his mom's shop. He was totally clueless about what services they offered. But he did me good and at least gave me some digits to the place. So I called and got Tom. Tom was my stylist. Let me tell you about Tom. He was 30 minutes late for my apt. But he made up for it by styling my hair really well. He did an up-do with pinned curls in the back of my head. The curls ribboned down. He was heavy handed on the hair spray and styling products. So much that my hair was crunchy. But it held in place and thats what I wanted at the end of the day. He did a good job and I was very satisfied with the final product. It cost me $45 for the up-do, tip was additional. The other ladies in the shop, including Tien's mom, were pretty nice and they showed up on time. Whoo, hooo.... I'll probably go back to get my hair done for the next wedding I'm going to in May. Maybe I'll pick something a little less crunch and see what they can do. :) read more

I have not gotten my eyebrows they in a long time! I always admire my nieces brows because of its shape so I asked where she went and it's right next to her school. Came here around Saturday afternoon and no wait! The lady that threads eyebrows is the own one there. She was VERY quick, too quick she never asked me how I wanted my eyebrows. She just told me to sit down and started threading.. in less than 5 minutes she was done... I HAVE NO MORE ARCH AND THEY LOOK LIKE RAINBOWS..... I give 3 stars because it didn't hurt at all, she was quick and sweet, and it was only $7. Maybe my niece is just lucky everytime. read more

I got a haircut from Tom and he is just awesome..he has magic in his han da. Great hair cut, Hair styling and hair color. Would certainly go back and highly recommend Tom. Giving 4 stars because I also got facial from sangita. It was just ok. I get facials for two folds - relaxing and skin cleansing. I got the skin cleansing but the facial was not relaxing. And Huang from the front desk (not sure if i spelled his name correctly) was very friendly too. I went there at 12:30pm and halfway through my appointment he asked me if they can get me anything from the tea place next door since it is past lunch time (although i politely declined) but that is a Very very considerate gesture. I wanted to make my hair straight, so I called and got Tom who was my first stylist in the ca. He was late for my apt for 15 minutes, but it was OK. He asked me to trust him before he started styling my hair. And then, I spent 4 hours that afternoon to get my hair done. Two days later, after I washed my hair, I was really angry to find I had quite a mop of hair and the color of my hair is not black but brown now. I thought that the situation was as bad as it could be, but worse was to follow. The hair broke and I had to do the hair nursing every month to stop my hair loss. So, at last, I spent 200 bucks and 4 hours to make my hair tumbled every which way. read more

I got my hair cut by Gina, recommended by my neighbor. She did a great job. Man, her scissors moved fast but Gina totally did what I asked her for for my undercut/shaved side, layered back, and asymmetrical look overall. I personally had to get used to having an undercut again but I really like my hair now and am glad I tried her out. I'll be going back. read more

Very nice service. I and my son got haircutz for $12 each. For some reason in Fremont, people in hair salons don't speak really good English but these guys are awesome. They are very good listeners as well and very welcoming to the customers. Unfortunately, it's a bit far from my home so I won't be able to visit them often but I will definitely recommend it for only Men and Kids haircuts(for now) because my wife haven't tried them yet :) read more

I've been going here for a few years now and finally decided to write a review for the nice lady that I will only go to to cut my hair, Mai. She is very thorough when she trims and fades my hair, always the way I want it. Not only is she great with men's hair, I started going here after hearing great reviews from my girlfriend who only goes to her for all of her hair needs including haircuts and dyes/highlights. She says that Mai has never damaged her hair and always does an amazing job with her colors and cuts. Many places charge an outrageous amount for these services, but this place is very competitive considering the quality of work Mai provides. I would highly recommend her. The only thing to note is that she does only work Thursdays and Saturdays, but if you can make that work then it is definitely worth it! read more

He was 20 minutes late for my trial, but was there on-time on the day of (though I did show up 10 minutes late, anticipating him to be late again). The wait time wasn't bad as I had an appointment. She was very quick and I asked for a shampoo after my haircut was done. She took care of that and gave one of the better scalp massages. read more
