Great service and clean equipment. The ladies were really nice to us even though we were running a bit late. Laura and Helen were especially friendly. My cousin's nails were drying on the bubbly side and they redid them on the spot. They were apologetic and didn't give any attitude while they repainted. (Had to use a friend's account to post the rest of my review because of Yelp's character limit) - The manager/owner said the staff asked me multiple times because they need to confirm with me before using the polish when there is wound. ------ The staff never admitted it was a wound or she did anything wrong - The manager/owner said it was because my cuticles are too thin, so it broke when the staff buffed the nail. And people who has thin cuticles/skin like me are not even suitable for gel/soft gel/soak off gel/shellac manicure. They are professionals so they know it. ------ It was because the staff was careless, and she cut too deep. I have had 100+ gel/soft gel/soak off gel/shellac manicures and pedicures, and there was only once my foot was cut, and the professional apologized immediately, sanitized the wound, even applied medication, and then kept going. And if they are professionals who know my skin is too thin for a manicure, why didn't they say so before providing the service? Why buffed my nails and surrounding cuticles that hard? Why didn't pay attention when cutting the "thin and fragile" cuticles? - The manager/owner started to blame that I was late, and she said her staff should have refused to provide service to me when they do not have enough time. ------ As if her staff was doing me a favor, and everything happened because of the 5 minutes late. The ladies were just standing around and then had a conversation about if they would take me. They close at 7 so I don't understand why they couldn't but they said they couldn't work on my nails. Thanks I guess. I know to never come here. And as far as the reply back... It feels more like trying to promote your business then reply to my review. So 3 woman book an appointment for 6 staffed employees? That would have nice to even mention that you had a party when discussing about me for such a long time. My appointment was for 3:15 today. I showed up about 10 mins early since it was my first time. Very clean facility. The lady at the front asked me if I need to use the restroom or wanted water while I waited. I used the bathroom since knowing myself I might have to go in the middle of my lash appointment. When I come back and sit down the front desk lady tells me, the person who I have an appointment with (doesn't give me a name) wants a hair cut after her service she was already getting. Meaning I would have to wait another 30 mins. I saw it's ok and sit and wait. Finally it was my turn. I follow the person in. (Still doesn't tell me her name) we go over what type of style I want. I went for natural full medium. If that made any sense. I lay down get comfy and she starts her magic. I have gotten many sets before visiting this salon so I roughly know how long it should take and that's tropically when I get antsy. Before you know it she was done. She begins to clean up the stuck glue. She used scissors to clear or cut some parts off. (Totally weirded me out and scared me) Finally I get to see my lashes. At first I loved them. They were full and the length was good. And finally I asked, oh I never caught your name, it's Heidi. When I got to my car finally looked at the time it was roughly 3:20-3:30. So she only took 30-40 minutes to put on a full set of lashes. ---When I got home to inspect my lashes, there was so much glue clumps on my lashes. My lashes feel like they are stuck together in clumps instead on individually on my lashes. A few already fell out because I was trying to separate them. And OUCH it hurts. I'm not sure how I feel about them. Knowing she roughly took 30-40 minutes on me saddens me. Especially when I had to wait an extra 30 minutes to be seen. I will update if I see improvements after a few days. Meaning after the glue dissolves from being able to wash my face. I am not sure if I'll go back. read more

Nobody's perfect but I'm giving this place a solid 5 stars because on the rare occasion I haven't been happy with something, the manager was super friendly and always rectified it. Discovered via Groupon and have been a loyal customer for 6 months or so now. On my very first visit, I got a manicurist who spoke very little English and despite being crystal clear about cutting very little off my cuticles because I bleed easily, she made me bleed. I refused to continue with her, but the manager was SUPER friendly, apologetic, spoke English fluently, finished my manicure herself and did an EXCELLENT job! She recommended a particular staff member for future visits, Ann, who is always very gentle and my gels from her last longer than anywhere else I've ever gone! Zero peeling from the bottom. Great price too (I get the package deal). I've learned that to be totally happy with your manicure, ALWAYS be vocal about what you want as they're doing it. They aren't mind readers. Shape of a nail not to your liking? Don't just move on to the polish grumbling to yourself the whole time, TELL her! If she doesn't understand, don't proceed until someone can translate. I took a girlfriend in, and she didn't speak up, thinking it was a "the professional knows best" situation. Afterwards she wouldn't stop complaining. I mentioned it to the manager next time I was in and she THANKED me for saying something and immediately gave me a card to give to my friend to book a new appointment at no expense to her, so they could make it right! My friend was ultimately thrilled with the redo. I recently decided to try getting my roots colored there (only my 2nd time EVER), but despite saying I wanted to keep my natural super ashy dark brown color, their hair girl basically turned me into a redhead. Oof. She was very belligerent and defensive about it...took it personally that I didn't like it, like it insulted her experience. The manager stepped in and treated me with respect, taking the time to listen and silencing the other girl. In the end I accepted a refund instead of a redo. I do hope, however, to return to her once I find and test the exact color I want to maintain long term (what's currently in was mostly to counter the red). I have been here several times before just for pedicure. This time I spent $60 for a shellac manicure and pedicure since there was a wedding I needed to attend. I asked the lady whether this will last for next 2 weeks and she said yes. I was not completely satisfied with the end result of my manicure - I mean the color - but still kept it. Guess what? In less than 3 hours after the manicure today, I noticed that it is peeling in my thumb finger and now it looks pretty badly chipped. I'm greatly disappointed at this. I came here to kill some time between work and an appt I had. Thought it'll be a nice and quick service. They really took their time doing my pedicure and my manicure...a little too long. I was getting restless because they did it at the same time. One thing I didn't really like was how she cut my toes. I told her I like it short but natural. no squaring or anything. She left them long and I had to ask her to recut my toenails. It was still a little too long for my taste, but I went with it. As for the shellac manicure, she made it REALLY thick. It was thick to the point where after a week, the side started to peel off, and my the second week, I had to peel them off because they were starting to look horrible. The area around the cuticles weren't even so they had that jagged edge while they were growing out. I don't think I'll be back here for my nails again. read more

The floor plan was very open with mirrors and great lighting. What an improvement! The new owners really did an amazing job at bringing this salon up in scale. I come to Mi Beauty Salon all the way from Redwood City because I just love the way Andy does my hair. He is a natural with hair and unlike many other stylist I have been to he does my hair the way I want, which is long and he knows how to add volume and layers like no one I have ever been to before. Maybe because he learned from a famous stylist in San Francisco. So I feel lucky to only have to drive to Fremont to get a run way model hair style. I will continue to commute from Redwood City to see Andy he is amazing and wonderful to talk to as well. Really puts me at ease - like every good stylist should. read more

New customer here, I yelped nail salons open on Sunday, and was pretty desperate to get in before the holiday. Based on pics and some reviews I thought I'd give it a try... 1 star for the cleanliness of the salon. And 1 star for the nice greeting from the front desk lady (owner?) My pedi was super quick, the nail polish is decent she massaged for one whole minute. Mani shellac is also just ok, once she was done I had expected a nice hand massage (I thought it was typical to get a massage with a mani) at least every place I've gone to they have. Now that I'm home I see the top coat peeling from my thumb nail. This salon was very over priced for the very, very basic service. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

This is a good spot because of its convenient location near my house. I went to get my hair curled, and unfortunately, was not impressed. The stylist used a lot of hair spray and even after I asked her not to she proceeded to do so. She didn't even properly dry my hair while she was curling it, so it was getting burned. I have really curly hair, so I need to blow dry the roots straight before styling, she didn't do this either. At the end, I found out a simple wash and blow dry was 45 freaking dollars! Wayyyy too expensive for a job not that well done. Definitely won't be coming back here for this service, they need to reduce their prices and not do a shoddy job. read more

They have back massaging chairs, a great sea scrub for your feet, a standard foot massage, and copious amounts of color choices. They are fair priced, efficient, and seemingly happy. I went here when I was out sick and desperately needed to get out of the house, I just hate being cooped up inside, so I thought... a pedicure in a calm setting whist getting massaged? Yes please. I called to make an appointment and they had an opening, I was in there for about an hour with Jerry Springer playing silently and a few haircuts going on here and there. The only thing I wish they had was a UV dryer for your toes, otherwise (with me being such a klutz) I have the tendency to smudge my polish after I depart. Found my new fave nail salon! I'm a big fan of their customer service. They were very attentive to customer's preference and offer helpful tips without pushing their own opinions. They did not rush my decision to pick a color. (I'm very indecisive ^_^). The weather was very hot yester day and surprisingly enough, Mi Beauty Salon offered water. And they offer to fix my nails within a week if the shellac gets damaged. I'm very satisfied with Ann's work. Good communication. They take their time to do our nails and the quality is superb. (We went beyond closing time) It's better to call in advance and make appointment. Price is 30 dollars for shellac excluding tip. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. First of all, the parking is super easy - there is a private lot right next to it. When you walk inside, the venue is clean and spacious. There are stations for hair, manicures, and pedicures with a waxing room in the back. I believe they are still putting the finishing touches on their decorations but for the most part, it is a beautiful space. I did not have an appointment but walked in on a Sunday afternoon and right away, I got my eyebrows and lip waxed and the lady was super sweet and welcoming. She was very quick but did a great job. Wish I can choose 0 star on yelp. Highly doubt the authenticity of the 4.5 star rating. Avoid this place. In short, skill was at best mediocre and attitude was horrible. What happened today should have been very simple - the staff accidentally cut me, she apologized, sanitized the wound, and then kept going. But the opposite happened. ------------------------------------ I have had gel/soft gel/soak off gel/shellac manicure and pedicure for 100+ times, I learnt from a professional and sometimes do manicure for myself. Believe me I know how it works. I decided to try this place because it is highly rated on yelp and there is a deal on Groupon. I scheduled an appointment for a Shellac manicure. Staff can barely speak English. I was late for 5 minutes. I had no problem with just leaving if the staff said they did not have enough time to take care of me. But they didn't. They were super impatient, kept saying "you are late", and started the service (passive aggressiveness). Everything was ok at first, until I asked if we are going to use Shellac products when I saw the staff took out a Gelish Foundation Gel. She said we will use Shellac. I asked why she took out a Gelish Foundation Gel. She said it is Shellac(???), Gelish and Shellac are the same, and people just call it differently. I eventually agreed to use Gelish, as I thought Gelish is a big brand as well, and obviously this conversation will lead to nowhere. To make it clear, I think the staff means she will use Shellac color polish and Gelish foundation. But don't fool customers by saying Shellac and Gelish are the same. Stop saying you use Shellac on Groupon, while you are using other products. This is false advertisement. After the staff trimmed the cuticles and sprayed some alcohol on my nails and fingers, I felt my right middle finger tip hurt. As you can see in the attached photos, it is very obvious that the staff cut too deep (she trimmed the cuticles very quick and didn't pay much attention, and the cuticles were not neat after trimming). I said it hurt immediately, and the staff's reactions really surprised me: - She took a look and said what do you mean, what are you trying to say (???). - I said I think you cut me. - She said it is not bleeding so I didn't cut you (???). And then she asked me multiple times if I want to continue, if I want her to paint, if I want color (exact words), and kept talking that she has next customer, she does not have enough time, it is because of I'm late, there is only 40 minutes left, I should either get color now or leave (again, her exact words). As if she cut me was because that I was late for 5 min, and as if I was begging her to get a manicure. - I said it hurts when you apply the alcohol, even if it is not bleeding, the skin is very very thin and is about to bleed, it is not normal, and she should apologize when she cut somebody. I said multiple times that I do want to finish the manicure, but she should say sorry before we keep going. - This staff just could not admit that she cut me or did anything wrong, and in the whole process her attitude was like "leave with it or you don't get color" (her wording). - 2 of the other staff stopped by to see what happened. I thought they were trying to help resolve the problem, but both of them looked annoyed and walked away after hearing and looked at what happened. - Then I said I do not want her service anymore, and asked for the manager/owner of this nail salon. - The staff became even more impatient, said I need to pay (who would pay to be cut), took a photo of my hand (in a very rude way), and called her boss. - The staff did not tell me she was calling her boss and just walked away. So I started calling the number that I used to schedule this appointment, and the manager said sorry, I don't need to pay and I can leave. At that point, I thought at least the manager/owner came to some sense, and I tried to tell her what happened, as she really need to train her staff. I was pissed and emotional, I am sure she could feel it, but I was polite and only told her the truth. At first the owner reacted as expected - when I described what happened, she apologized and said she will train her staff. I came here for my first time in September, French Shellac Manicure. I forgot her name but she did a good job and the price was basically the same compared to San Jose. The French tip shellac manicure lasted 1month +. And when it grows out you can't tell as much vs. a nail color. I think they newly remodeled and new owners! Renamed as well. It looks very clean and I love their sink area that they have customers use to just wash/rinse hands. Came back today and this time I remember her name, although I asked to be scheduled to Cindy by a friend referral. She was meticulous and took her time with my nails. I have lots of extra skin around my nails so it takes a little longer. I always do the French Shellac Mani, but opted for a different color. For a Fall/Halloween I went with a black and glittery metallic color. Which I love! I think this place is great if you're getting off work or shopping nearby. It's definitely relaxing and I want to try their pedicures next time! I would suggest making an appointment both times I made an appointment, and helped right away. They have LOTS of shellac color choices I was actually overwhelmed. I couldn't decide.. Cindy actually had to help me. Overall I would recommend and come back for a new set in another month!
