My friends and I wanted to find an after dinner place for something sweet. At the recommendation of another customer in line (a nice looking Asian, young lady), I selected the #1 drink - coconut water, a lot of ice, Pandan, coconut meat that looked like a paper towel, kiwi, lychee, etc. ‍ - disappointing. While I was drinking this concoction I noticed the picture of a hazelnut based beverage on the wall facing me. My thought - I should have ordered that. The only saving grace was the mochi waffle - green middle with a golden brown crust. Lightly sweet, chewy, crisp edges, delicious, and satisfying. Now I would return to this cafe for this pastry. Now, I don't know if it's because there's a constant stream of new and interesting Asian dessert options that keep opening up or because I've just started to take them for granted (or both), but I never really think of stopping into Bambu much these days. Che desserts are great and all, but I'd be lying if I said coming here to grab one would historically be the first thing that comes to mind. However, after being pleasantly surprised by our visit to this location, perhaps that needs to change! Even though our coming here was largely a byproduct of us already being (somewhat) nearby and this place being one of the few options still open for dessert, I was actually excited to come here since it had been over a decade since I last visited a Bambu. Inside, this particular location is decent in size, but a bit dated in how it looks. That said, the menu looked even more interesting than I remember. In addition to their che drink options, they also have several varieties of waffles, milk teas, fruit teas, coffees, smoothies, and French macaron cookies, among other things. While we initially came in with one of their traditional che options in mind, we immediately flipped to their UBE HALO HALO once we saw a post for it. Made up of a Red Bean base with Coconut Meat, Rainbow Jelly, Pandan Jelly, Crystal Boba, Coconut Milk, Red Tapioca, Jackfruit, Egg Pudding, and Topped with Ube Ice Cream, this came with nearly every topping Bambu has to offer! All together, this was a little sweet but still great! The mix of everything complemented each other well, but I especially liked the coconut milk and meat, red bean paste, egg pudding, and jackfruit. Of course, the ube ice cream perfectly rounded everything out. Beyond our dessert, service here wasn't too shabby, though not really spectacular. On the plus side, the guy at the register was friendly, but it also took longer than I would've guessed for our dessert to come out. Can't say if they're actually slow, though, as it looked like that guy might have been the only one working (there was also a family that ordered a bunch of stuff ahead of us). Regardless, it wouldn't deter me from coming back again. Between all of that, their relatively late hours, and the wealth of parking (at night, at least), this Bambu is such a convenient spot for a late night treat! read more

Poor service. On August 29, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., I ordered six Bambu Specials, as I usually do, along with a Brown Sugar Milk drink. The female cashier shook her head and simply said they did not have that drink. When I explained that I had ordered it there before, she responded, "This is a different shift, so no." Her answer was confusing, dismissive, and extremely unprofessional. Instead of politely explaining why the drink was unavailable, she made us feel as though our question was unreasonable. We were loyal customers and were beyond upset by the way this situation was handled. Management should provide better customer-service training & reprimand this poor environment and attitude, so customers are treated with courtesy and respect. The bathroom is filthy and the health department should really come and inspect it anytime, because it is consistently filthy and disgusting With this attitude from the front cashier imagine how filthy it is the back when they are preparing your food and drink. Ever since the Bambu closed in Irvine, I have to trek out to Westminster to get some che. Visited this store to get my fix. Was going to get some bubble waffle with the dessert but staff mentioned that they had ran out of bubble waffle. Ended up getting coconut mochi waffle. A good ol' classic che place in OC. This place used to have lines going out the door even on weekdays. Now, there's so much competition but this place is stil pretty good. Docking points because it's pretty expensive now and could be cleaner. There's seating indoors but most people take their items and go. I recommend getting the number one which has coconut water, longan, pandan jelly, chia seeds, and more. read more

This place used to be popular for their desserts and waffles back in the days. Now it's a new hang out spot for our Chu hai's. The place is still small with decent seating taken by all the Chu hai's. Workers are still nice. We ordered the pandan waffles and few drinks (egg coffee, matcha coffee and avocado smoothie). All decent... the matcha coffee didn't taste much like matcha...the avocado smoothie tasted more powdery than anything so it was an unpleasant after taste for me. The pandan waffle was overcooked in the waffle machine. Came out hard and hurt the root of my mouth as I bit into it. A bit disappointed since it used to be so good. I guess quality just went down. Or maybe a bad batch for us when we came. Not sure but not willing to come back to try again. Most likely won't be back to this location for anything. read more

Honestly, I don't get why this place has such bad reviews! I love Bambu! Whenever I'm in the area I crave coming here. My go-to is the Trio, it's such a classic. It leans a little on the sweet side, but that's part of what makes it so good. The crushed ice gives it the perfect texture and makes the drink so refreshing. The coconut cream is the top seller - delicious and highly recommend! Quick, consistent, and always hits the spot for me. Definitely worth stopping by if you're nearby! read more

We usually go to this location but after today, we will never come back. My husband ordered three che ba mau (three color dessert) like we normally do but tonight it took well over 20 minutes for 3 drinks and that wasn't the worst part. When we came home (we live 10 minutes away) and ate the desserts, they were all disgusting and not fresh at all. The green jelly was hard as a rock like they were kept in the fridge for days. Usually they're soft and chewy but the ones they put in our drinks were old and hard. The mung bean also had a sour, spoiled taste. They gave us old, pre-assembled and pre-sealed that was probably days old. We threw all three drinks away. The cups don't even have the logo on anymore and they sealed them now. Small shop in a shopping center, in front of the 2nd Gen Korean bbq location. The shop has about 3 tables with chairs. The staff was nice and friendly. My order didn't take long. Dear Bambu, The OG spot wonderful desserts and drinks, I love the amazing avocado coffee. Also I asked for Durian coffee and came out phenomenal here. What a drink for real cannot be compared. Service is quick, kind, and they have a great demeanor here at this location to help the people coming in. Ambiance is nice inside, I like all the seats and tables here. Nice decor and comfortable homey feeling inside the store. Makes you want to stay and try more drinks and deserts. Service fast and friendly. We tried the ube halo halo, and passion fruit tea half sweet with basil seeds. The ube halo halo was fantastic. It was love at first sip! Cute little drinks shop located in the plaza! There's ample seating and the ambiance is very casual. Service is super quick; it took less than five minutes for our three drinks to come out. Drinks have gotten pricey here ($6-7+), yet the quality of the ingredients don't shine enough to justify it. The bambu special is very watery; there is at least a half cup of just crushed ice swimming with the seeds and coconut water. The jelly is also very watery and thin. The coconut water is an overpowering flavor, which would be fine if it tasted fresher; it had almost a plasticky, preserved flavor and smell to it. The overall experience is confusing and lackluster. The good: decent parking lot, lots of seating inside and outside. The not so good, which is the reason for the 2 star rating: We've been going here for years and service is always a hit or miss, but our most recent visit was a huge miss. They messed up our order and gave us the wrong item, then made us pay extra for said item despite it being wrong and them telling us that it was ours, when it actually wasn't. It looked like what we ordered and they said it was ours, so how are we supposed to know it wasn't the right one? They told us it was until they realized their mistake and realized they gave us someone else's order. The cashier was too busy chit chatting with other customers, who seemed to be her friends, and because of this, she kept mixing up all the orders. There was no organization whatsoever. What a mess. I get it, it isn't a high end dessert shop, just your local che spot. But we've been going here for years and this visit was a big ouch on the service. The che here is a hit or miss; they ran out of a lot of ingredients during our visit so a lot of our ches was mostly the sweet bean, which in my opinion, wasn't worth it. When done right, however - it can be a sweet and refreshing treat. But wow, this visit was absolutely chaotic and messy. It's great that they're so hospitable and friendly, but it was a bit too much where they lost focus of her job and kept mixing up orders. They ended up giving us an extra che that was part of someone else's orders that seemed to have also gotten mixed up, which seems pretty telling of how unorganized this night was. It was towards the end of the night so I can't entirely fault them, though the many mix ups of everyone's orders and the demanding of payment for a che they told was ours when it actually wasn't (how were we supposed to know just by looking at them?) made for an unpleasant visit. We visit quite frequently but this was by far the most messy visit we've ever seen, and it wasn't even a full house. read more

Always a huge fan of Bambu. I love trying all their different che. My order came out almost right away. There were plenty of jellies in my che, and the liquid itself was so flavorful and tasty. The benefit of my wife and I having a lot of Vietnamese friends is being able to try things like this we would have never known about. The cool thing is it comes with a literal snowball in a bag when you get it takeout. You add it yourself and mix it up for a nice cool drink. We got the "CHÈ TRÁI CÂY", it comes with lychee, longan, red tapioca, jackfruit, palm seed, jello, pandan jelly, coconut & coconut milk. It was fun mixing in the snow but the lid was loose and kept coming off, the coconut milk was also very overpowering and diluted a lot of the fruit flavor. The good: The pandan banh kep (waffle) here is the best bánh kẹp I have ever had! It's freshly made, big, chewy on the inside with Mochi flour and the outside is crispy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I got the che sương sa hạt luu and a che khoai môn as well. I like the crushed fine ice. The bad: There are tons of cigarette butts everywhere outside. There are two types of grass jelly flavors and the one they used here was the more artificial tasting kind (with the brighter green color usually except it was the black kind here but with the green flavor - if that makes sense). Other Bambu locations I've been to use the other grass jelly flavor. The che didn't taste as good as the same menu items I've ordered from NorCal locations.
