I came here because I miss the Che in Vietnam and wanted to try their Che Tao xon. I had three things here and really enjoyed them. Depending on preference the Che may be too thin (coconut milk) for some but I enjoyed it and the che tao xon and sticky rice with mung bean were very delicious. The interior was fairly clean, and they offer a wide variety of Vietnamese, style sweet desserts that many people enjoy. I ordered chè bà ba, chè táo soạn, and chè đậu trắng. Honestly, none of them really suited my taste. The chè bà ba was okay but nothing special. As for the chè đậu trắng and chè táo soạn, the coconut milk flavor was quite unusual for me. The coconut milk had a pandan aroma, which was nice, but it was very thin and lacked the rich, creamy texture you would expect from proper coconut milk. For desserts like chè đậu trắng or chè táo soạn, the coconut milk makes up at least 50% of what defines the dish, and unfortunately, this was very disappointing. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, but overall, the desserts here just weren't a good fit for my personal taste. The parking lot to get here on a Sunday is a mad house since it's shared by so many establishments. Once I finally arrived it wasn't too busy. Two friendly workers inside that helped me immediately. The shop is organized and felt neat and clean. I tried the che 3 mau and che thai. Both were really good and refreshing but the red beans in the che 3 mau were a little hard for my taste. The coconut milk they use for the che 3 mau is also so fatty because when I added the ice the fat congealed. I liked that they give you fresh shaved ice for your desserts. It melts fast to cool the dessert and is also easy to eat and crunch on. They are a cash only so remember to bring cash and get ready to eat some delicious desserts. read more

So what is Vietnamese desserts"? Some is based with mung beans, corn, sweet potato, taro root, and with or without coconut milk. My favorite is Che Thai - it contains longan, coconut jelly, jackfruit, tapioca water chestnuts, pandan jelly, and more jelly, and coconut milk or half and half. It is so refreshing on a hot summer day. And they make the best here! Please try it. The chewy coconut jelly is so good. Definitely taste it! I normally would go to this location as a regular customer but not anymore. There are just certain levels of customer service that crosses the line, and today was it. The man at the register was just rude. Please be aware that this is a cash only location. As such, I paid with cash using $2 bills that were old and a little ware on it. Please keep in mind that these bills where fully whole except for the corners were a little worn. The guy refused to accept the cash, even though they are perfectly legal tender. He then makes a huge scene. Then proceeds to take my purchase away and was kicking me out when I asked why he wouldn't take it, and if he had an issue with the bills, he could exchange it with the bank. Keep in mind this was only $6. He was getting hot and heavy, while I was fully calm the whole time, just asking politely what the issue with taking legal tender in a cash only location is. He was rude and angry, treating me like some beggar, as customers started to gather and wonder what the heck was going on. He then was afraid of the bad rep from all the other customers, and began to shove the food to me, saying he is giving it for free. I am not a beggar. I refused, but I did went and look for my other cash bills and paid for it. I am not coming back here anymore, even though I used to be a regular. This whole time dealing with this rude man, while my toddler daughter was looking on asking what is going on with this rude man was a bit too much. My family loves stopping by here after grabbing food at Canton Restaurant next door. In my honest opinion, their Chè Thái and other desserts are far better than Bake & Chè. The flavors are fresher, the portions are generous, and everything tastes homemade with great balance of sweetness. 5 stars for the BEST che ba mau dessert in OC! This review is only for the che ba mau. I have not tried anything else here other than che ba mau and xoi lap xuong (that was good too but I mainly come here for the che ba mau). I was never a fan of che ba mau until I tried the one here, and ever since then, I've been coming back again and again. One day I was craving it so badly but this place was already closed so I went to Che Hien Khanh instead, and let me tell you, it was not as good as the one here (Hien khanh was way sweeter and the taste wasn't right, I did not enjoy it at all and couldn't even finish). The che ba mau at My Linh is so perfect. The sweetness is just right and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite. It is so good and addicting. This is my favorite place to get Vietnamese desserts for a while now and I was disappointed when they closed because of COVID-19. I stopped by a few days ago hoping they're back in business I was happy to see a lot of customers. I should've left a review for TCML before but now I feel more compelled to let fellow Yelpers how good this place has become. If anyone ever frequents this shop before they should appreciate the quality of their desserts . The prices here are a tad higher than some other places but you pay for quality. Not if there's anything wrong with that but you just can't expect to have the high standards at some buy two get one free place. Anyway I was happily surprised to see TCML expands their menu. What's new are Bò kho, chicken curry and fried rice ( tray order only). Vietnamese beef stew is one of my favorite dish to make at home so I was eager to try it and I was not disappointed. The spices are there but not overwhelming and the seasoning will satisfy most palates. I might not even bother make this again and just get it from here. And I didn't even have the side effects from MSG like the one you get elsewhere. What blew me away is the curry. THE CURRY! I've eaten enough Vietnamese curry in my life and still it's not something I would order. It's just not one of my favorite dish. Until I tried the curry from this place. On dip of the bread ( comes with the order) in the concoction and I'm in love. You know some curries are either too thick, too rich from too much milk or coconut milk or too bland with chunks of under marinated chicken. If you taste this curry broth you would know there's no way you can achieve this level of deliciousness without spending a lot time and involving only quality ingredients. I'm now a curry lover but only from this place. I already love TVML for their desserts but now I'm looking forward to go there for the curry and beef stew. The dilemma the owner of this place has to face is how to not raise the prices of what they offer when using such high quality ingredients (the price of everything has gone up quite a bit during this COVID-19 crisis). I normally HATE che I came here after dinner with my parents for some dessert. We each got an item. Mine was the Che Thai, my mom's was the Che Dau Trang, and my dad a drink. For all three items it was $6. Cheap! My Che Thai was good. It was large and was the perfect amount of sweetness. I don't even think I had half and it was more than enough. I'm glad we stopped in after dinner. The whole place is small but not as small as Hien Khanh. Their che here is better. Hien Khanh is better for their Xoi (sticky rice). Most of their "desserts in a cup" are pre-made and they store it in a little fridge in front of lobby. I walked in ordered three and the man literally pulls the cups out of the fridge. The only thing that is fresh is the ice. He shaves the ice and puts it in a bag. I don't like pre-made desserts, not fresh, and who knows how long it has been sitting in the fridge. Thach Che My Linh did that for me. Thach Che Hien Khanh has always been the benchmark for che in my opinion for a long time. Now I have to reconsider that designation as I happened to try Thach Che My Linh. First off the store is impeccable and clean, this is not the usual for as you would expect. But here the glass is sparkling clean and all the desserts are neatly organized behind the glass for your viewing pleasure. You know a place is good when your mother remarks on how fresh and good the Che was. Asian Mom's are not easy to please and this comes as a high compliment as mine really enjoyed her Che Xoi Nuoc. The Thai Che was really good in addition to the Sam Bo Luong, Their Sam Bo Luong had just the right amount of sweetness, where as a lot of other places over sweeten their versions. The owner also mentioned while ringing me up that all of their smoothies are made with real fruit now powders. Down to the Durian and Avocado. Enticing as I'll have to come back and try. And portions are not equivalent to their price of $4 for half a container and $6 for a regular cup. We should have seen the writing on the wall when there were no customers in there!
