Second time I been here. First time was years ago and I wasn't impressed back then. All I remember was that the chicken wings I got here were tiny, overcooked and dripping with 30 weight oil. If I need a fluid change on my truck I would have saved it. Today I went to lunch there for takeout, been getting bored with the usual fare around where I work. I Got the House rice, it was $10.00. (One reason I probably haven't frequented this place more often.) Went in placed my order, didn't take more than 5 minutes, not sure if that's good or bad. The greeter who brought it out to me didn't even bother to speak to me, he just aimed the bag at me with this scowl on his face. Then when I said thank you, he never said anything. Take some more courtesy classes there buddy. It was a good sized portion, hot and tasty, but instead of pieces of ham it was chopped up boneless ribs. I don't mind that but every one was the texture consistency of chewed up bubble gum not to mention all fat. Inedible, spit them out. They also put pieces of beef in it which is unusual for that particular dish. That meat was grey and tasted like it was a day old. I picked them out and separated it from the rest. Not too much chicken was in it either. So after all the bad meat was taken out, I was left with a dish of rice and very few vegetables. Was this experience worth $10.00? Nope. Will I ever go back? I had a hankering for wonton soup today and I drive by Bamboo everyday, so I decided to give it a try... 2 Spring Rolls, a Small Wonton soup with and $7.35 later, I'm full, but it was "so so" I've definitely had better wonton soup - I like lots of stuff in it! This soup had broth and 4 wontons a few pieces of scallions and it was "meh" but satisfied my craving.. The spring rolls however were awesome. I finally went for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I'm very impressed by this location. Definitely a place I will continue to visit! I think one of the things that really draws me into it, is the combination of both Chinese and Japanese Cuisine, which is a great idea because while I do like SOME Japanese dishes, I typically prefer Chinese food. So now, when my friends want sushi, they can get it, and I can get some of my favorites from the Chinese menu. The food was very tasty, but as a fair warning, I was only doing appetizers. Not a full meal. It was one of those nights where I didn't want to cook on my own but I wasn't starving for a giant meal. So it was a shared mix of fried rice, boneless spare ribs, egg rolls, and shrimp tempura. Everything was delicious, cooked well, and service was quick and friendly. The place, overall, is very nice in appearance, and would be great for a semi-casual night out with friends/family. Even though I'm not a sushi fan, they do have a nice sushi bar as you walk in. The night that I went I called ahead (Saturday Night) to make reservations (assuming it was like most 'nicer' restaurants) but was told none were needed, to just come in when we were ready. Sure enough, arrive around 7:00/7:30 and no wait... straight to a table. The restaurant was very clean and the waitstaff was attentive. Other than that, however, I can't say much for this restaurant. My white wine was served in a red wine glass, the fish is "delivered 3x/week" but it was clearly not very fresh. We ordered the $19 toro and it looked like spam. 4 slices of rectangular pale pink slimy meat that tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. When we went to order dessert, we were presented with a menu of 8 or so items and told only three were available. We ordered one of each and they were very freezer burnt and they tried to mask it with canned whip cream. Really unimpressed. I wouldn't ever recommend this place. read more

Bamboo Bedford ended up being one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, even after working nearby and going there way too often. I really enjoyed their lunch buffet - the only downside was the fact that I'd overeat - good shiu mai, reasonable hot-and-sour soup, and a very good variety of hot dishes like beef/broccoli and shrimp dishes. They also have reasonable sushi as part of their lunch buffet. It's not super-great sushi, but quite good for buffet sushi, in my humble opinion. For dinner, the story's much the same. Although not a bargain place by any means, the portions are a good size and the quality is quite good. After sampling a few different dishes, I think I settled on their Hunan Spicy Beef as my favorite dish there. They do a good take-out service here. We used to run massive (15+ people) take-out orders through here, and they never missed a beat - they got it right every time! Parking can be a problem during weekday lunches, though. They're a popular restaurant, and share a lot with Flatbread! Food: Good food, for both lunch buffet and dinner! Perhaps not 'super authentic,' but good and tasty, and that's good enough for me. Service: Good service, from host to wait staff - never an issue, and very attentive with water and tea. Value: Medium to good value. I never felt like I hadn't got my money's worth. Went for the lunch buffet with the hubby. We paid about $25 for the 2 of us. The buffet isn't huge but they have a great selection. We had no issue with the service. My glass of water was refilled several times and our dirty plates were promptly cleared. The food was fresh and didn't taste like it had been sitting under a lamp for hours. While I didn't eat the sushi (7 months pregnant) there was an abundance of it, and no one was standing over the buffet watching. I'm not sure who would expect salt and pepper to be on the table in a Asian restaurant. There were a bunch of sauces at the buffet so you weren't lacking flavor. I came here for their lunch buffet on a weekday. It can be summed up in one phrase: "all you can eat Chinese takeout". Oh, and there's some sushi too, probably the ones that had been sitting in the sushi section of the restaurant for too long or the ones that the sushi chef made a mistake with. Meh. Right down the street from where I work so if I am in the mood for asian and chinese it is my go to place. Their fried rice is awesome, and the portion is astronomical, translating to almost a weeks worth of food for me. Sushi is fresh and I have stuck to the basics just for cost. Buffet is great - we were there just under an hour and all of the entrees were refreshed at least twice, and tasted fresh and good. I went here for lunch today with a group of coworkers. We called ahead to reserve a table, as there were 12 in our party. Our table was ready when we got there at about 11:45... a waitress brought drinks and gave us the chance to order off the menu, but we all opted for the buffet. Previous reviewers were not kidding - the flow of the buffet line is AWKWARD. There are poles and things in weird spots, people with plates going the wrong way, nowhere to turn around... yeah. The food was pretty good--I especially enjoyed the crab Rangoon, tempura vegetables, and pork with broccoli. The sushi was nothing special. While I usually love sushi, this was mediocre; kind of flavorless. I'd be willing to try Bamboo again, but don't think I'd go out of my way to do so. read more

Just got back from eating at Bamboo. Reasons why this is a great spot for entertaining clients/colleagues: - The food is consistently really good. This is a Chinese/Japanese fusion place, complete with the whole reversible menu bit. That usually sets off red flags for me, meaning mediocre food on both sides... jack of all trades, master of none. But this place really gets it right. The chinese food is typical "americanized" chinese food, but it's GOOD. The sushi is fresh, and they have some inventive maki and a fun presentation style that keeps things interesting. - The place is HUGE, which is nice because the last thing you want is to stand around waiting for a table chit-chatting with people you've just met. There's a really large parking lot and my heart kinda sunk when it was so busy tonight that we needed to park in the overflow lot, but we were seated quickly the second we walked in. Seat, wine, score! - The service is really good. The perfect balance again... Super attentive without breaking in on conversations, but they don't leave you waiting around for drink refills or the check. The only reason this isn't a five star review is the atmosphere. Like i said, perfect for a work dinner, but i live closer to the city and i'm used to a little more character. This place is located in what looks like an office building, and the aforementioned size (while great for business dinners) would work against it in my book if i was planning a romantic date or night out with friends. read more

Great new Bamboo location with a traditional Japanese sushi menu and a Chinese menu with most favorites. Location is ideal near the business park and Burlington mall without being right in the middle of the traffic. Ample parking with shade in rear. We love how quickly the takeout orders are ready but dining in is nice too. LOVE the atmosphere and design of the restaurant, great for families, business, and dates. All of the traditional dishes we've ordered have been good, well-prepared and tasty. Consistent quality but nothing to write home about. Would recommend and will continue to order here. read more

A very clean and efficient sushi restaurant. Huge! Great for groups. Edamame, seaweed salad: delicious! One of the better seaweed salads I've had in a while. I liked the Godzilla and Rainbow maki. Bamboo is one of those upscale Americanized Chinese restaurants that had their heyday in the mid to late '80s and which have been in decline ever since. Bamboo flourished during the heyday of the hitech/computer industry with its lunch buffet that attracts endless local tech geeks and their bosses and the Sunday buffet where you'll get to enjoy more food than you can possible ingest in the company of families (nearly all Americans) with their children. So what about the food? It's surprisingly fresh although the Wonton Soup lacks any adornments other than a few wontons and a heap of spinach. In a place like this, you gotta try the Polynesian drinks. On my most recent visit, I ordered a Mai-Tai and it was a bit watery, not the best example of how this drink should be made. The Beijing Duck was excellent, clearly prepared earlier and not reheated as you might find elsewhere. The shou-mai was excellent, the Tiger Maki (and other items off of the Japanese portion of the menu) was very good. The Shanghai Noodles was crispy and its constituent vegetables, poultry, meat, & fish very good as well. So what's the problem? Well, in this market a restaurant has to do more than just serve reasonably well prepared food; it needs to establish an identity and impute it on the diner. I can't tell you what distinguishes Bamboo from any other American Chinese restaurant such as China Sky in Winchester. The entire atmosphere needs to be refreshed starting with the menus which bear the mark of having been through a generation of diners and their children. Would I go again. Maybe. If a geek or one of their managers wants to treat me to lunch one day. Bamboo Fine asian cuisine is all about the all-you-can eat lunch buffet. You can stuff yourself on food and green tea for about $14 with tip, and safely settle into a food coma when you make it back into the office. As other reviewers have noted, it is an odd smorgasbord of Asian food, the buffet bar features traditional Chinese dishes like the excellent crab rangoon, orange chicken and bbq pork, alongside a sushi selection. I tend to stick with the foods I like and have always enjoyed them. I decided that being Friday, I should eat out for lunch and a buffet of some kind came to mind. Bamboo was my choice and it's not a bad place. The staff is nice along with the environment. The buffet was better than other similar style places, especially when the food was hot, which only happened with the General Gau's chicken. For the price, not bad but now the gym I have to go to tonight! I've updated my rating and review of Bamboo as I've gone back a few more times for lunch. Each time the quality of the food as gone up when I get it hot and fresh...lesson learned. While I prefer sushi that has more variety than what they serve for the buffet, it's none the less good. The Crab Rangoon is one of my favorites so I have 6-10 pieces per meal. I've also come to like the Pork dish they serve along with General Gau's chicken. So eat up and come here early as the crowd grows quickly for lunch! read more

During the day, I see all these folks with ID name tags and I can tell they are from the business parks nearby. Instead of heading out for the Fireworks last night, we headed to Bamboo for dinner! I enjoyed myself. I always find the food at Bamboo to be decent. Nothing spectacular, but it's tasty. I don't eat Sushi, but I know my friends really enjoy the Sushi here (tip for all you Sushi lovers) The reason I gave it four stars is because of the service. 9 times out of 10 the staff looks and acts miserable. They can make the dining experience very awkward. However, my server last night was fantastic. He greeted us with a huge smile, and that remained on his face the whole time I was there! That one guy is what tipped my scale rating from a 3 to a 4. read more

The Chinese food and Sushi here is all very good. My first test of any Chinese restaurant is their dumplings. The dumplings here were well above average, tasty filling and thin wrapper. I had a chef's special, sauteed udon noodles which were excellent. My wife ordered boneless duck which was also very very good. I would rake this as good as Chang Sho in Cambridge. read more

Gave this place another chance after a couple of bad experiences. For take out, the lady who answers the phone is extremely rude. Not worth my time or money. We decided to go and eat in the restaurant this time, it was Monday night. Place was dead we were the only customers there. My son has an allergy, so I ensured the waitress knew and told the chef, I asked 3 times and she reassured me the chef was aware. After my son had taken a few bites of his food we realized he was eating gluten. I was so upset, the waitress said " sorry the chef forgot". FORGOT? Are you kidding me? I was besides myself but just wanted to be out of there, so I asked for the check, manager never came to apologize. Waitress never said anything else, just sorry and hope that he is ok. So if you have a food allergy do not go here, this place really does not care for the customers. I was trying to help them Out during these difficult times but they clearly do not deserve it. Save your money, do not waste your time. My son is ok because his allergy is not life threatening but he does get very sick. read more

We used to love going here for the pre-covid buffet as well as depending on this place as a sure bet for high quality, tasty food for take out when we had a family gathering. Things have changed and not for the better. We got takeout tonight and it was not great. We ordered 'classic pad thai'. When I took the cover off, it looked like plain rice noodles with a few shrimp (3 to be exact), a couple of slices of chicken and a few strips of vegetables. There was little to no seasoning on the dish, maybe a teaspoon of ground peanuts, almost flavorless. I do not recommend this dish. The egg rolls promise pork and shrimp on the menu, but the shrimp was missing. The egg rolls were almost as tasteless as the pad thai. We also got some 'beef skewers'. There were a little tough but at least tastier then the other two dishes. I am not sure where else we can now go for quality Asian food, but this place has clearly dropped the ball. read more

Visited on Monday and tried the buffet. Lots of items - including some shrimp, sushi and various Chinese staples. The fried rice was nothing to write home about (I always try the fried rice as it's usually a good indication of how the other dishes will be). Things were marked spicy but everything was fairly bland. I wish they had marked the various sushi they had so you could tell what was what. Lots of choices. We totally filled up on two plates. The real winner was the ginger ice cream though. So delicious! Pretty good option for a buffet although I prefer the one at the Mandarin for quality and interesting choices. Price was fantastic though for the amount of food we got so if you're looking for good food on a budget, it's not bad at all. read more

Dinner menu: excellent food. The sushi is top-notch - better than many sushi restaurants I've visited. Lunch buffet: mediocre. Standard Chinese restaurant buffet, though less greasy than most. Wait staff is very quick and always spot-on (though many barely speak English). Ambiance: yikes. My wife and I are seated next to families with screaming kids EVERY... SINGLE... TIME. It's uncanny. I was directed here by the hotel desk clerk and I am very happy she did. I received some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. The spicy beef with vegetables was savory with plenty of veggies. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and the beef was tender and tasty. My boneless pork was very flavorful and not ladened in grease like others seem to do. Even the hot and sour soup had an enjoyable, unique flavor. I wish I lived around here so I could enjoy this food all the time. Thank you for a memorable dinner! read more

Bamboo Fine Asian Cuisine seems to be part of a chain, and I thought I'd try the one that recently opened near me. They serve both Chinese and Japanese (including Sushi). From the Chinese side, I tried the Kung Pao Chicken with Peanuts and the Yuen-Yang Spicy Beef ("in a hot pepper sauce on a bed of string beans"). Neither dish was overly inspiring or flavorful. Both claim to be spicy, but neither made my tongue tingle in the slightest (I didn't make any special request when it came to spiciness when ordering). I also have a little pet peeve about the Kung Pao. As with many restaurants, it also comes with celery. Since it wasn't mentioned on the menu, I'd hoped it was really just chicken and peanuts. From the Japanese side, I only tried the Idaho Maki (sweet potato tempura). It was tasty, although the sweet potato was perhaps ever-so-slightly undercooked. It was good, but not the best Idaho Maki I'd ever had. I can't imagine I'll be going back, unless it's the only place a group of friends wants to meet. I've tried this for the buffet lunch twice now, and it's very good. I'm not a huge fan of buffet, and this place pulls it off. There's also a selection of sushi for buffet. The service is efficient and the overall vibe is generally friendly. Definitely worth a try. read more
