I called for a to go order and when I picked up the order, it was ready so that was good and everyone seemed nice and polite. However, the food was not very good. The beef chow fun was soggy and didn't have much flavor. Also, the beef and snow pea dish came with a lot of extra vegetables that I didn't care for so if anything, they should've advertise it as a mix vegetables with beef dish. Also, I noticed on some of the yelp reviews they raved about the portion sizes but to me, it seemed pretty average since the to go containers were in the black and clear top container. I noticed those containers are not nearly as big as the white Styrofoam ones. I probably won't come back here mainly because I did not like the chow fun. read more

Simple spot, but worth visiting.Service was friendly, food was made fresh and it was served hot. It the food reminded me a lot of what we ate when visiting hubby's grandmother in SF, except way friendlier service. If you've eaten at an authentic Chinese restaurant in the city you know what I'm taking about, lol. Today was my first time trying Hunan and I was pleasantly surprised! I looked up some pictures, the food looked good and the portions looked plenty. I couldn't find a recent menu online so I went in to order. The inside was clean and had nice seating. I ordered the Mongolian chicken combination because I was in the mood for something with a little kick. The hostess was very polite and the food was served in a timely manner. Everything tasted hot and fresh. The meal came with Mongolian chicken, pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, egg flower soup, a cream cheese wonton, and an egg roll all for under $13! The takeout container was filled to the top with food. There was enough that I was able to give some to a few of my coworkers and still took a lot home. I will definitely be eating here more regularly. read more

Finally a restaurant that isn't afraid of using MSG. The food is so much more flavorful because it incorporates MSG in its cooking. I was so shocked when I tasted the MSG again, brings back memories when restaurants used MSG to add more flavor to Chinese cuisine. They have a lot of items on their menu and the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely come here again for my MSG fix. read more

I ordered chicken and mixed vegetables with beef rice fried. As for the rice it was fresh hot and had a good amount of tasty beef. As far as the chicken with vegetables, the chicken is the first part of the name I ordered, it should have been the star but there was way more vegetables than chicken. The vegetables were not cooked all the way. They were too hard not only that the vegetables and chicken were lukewarm. I don't understand it. It was supposed to be made fresh. My wife's plate was the same way with beef. And vegetables. Horace with beef was very, very hot and fresh. But the other with the beef and vegetables. It was lukewarm and the taste was not there like normal. I don't know what's going on. Maybe they have a new cook, but I'll tell you. It was not worth $35. Oh yeah, so she brought us a plate of. Pop stickers as a side plate we ordered. They looked freezer burnt and they were raw on one side. And cooked, on the other side they definitely were not deep fried, nasty on top of that their crab Filled ragun was fishy and nasty and so was the Spring roll. It was pretty gross tookay. I said I never had any problems with this place to me. It was always way more food for your buck. Tasted wonderful and fresh, as can be today's experience. I don't know if I'll be going back. Especially if it's just from a new cook. We both really wanted to ask for our money back. That's how bad it was. I think we took 3 bites total each and got a box though for both of our dinners. So as I read on with other peoples reviews, I agree, and they agree that the Ragoons suck nasty and the Pop stickers are not cooked all the way and taste freezer born nasty. I asked her if they were frozen and she said that they cooked them.And then they put them in the freezer to cook them again.That's nahey owner.If you read this I think we deserve our money back.Just let me know when I can come back and get it. read more

We love Hunan Villa. The food is delicious! I was talking to my grandson today and he said I'm gonna come over to Oakdale so I can eat at Hunan Villa. He said I'm craving it. He lives in the Bay Area anyway it is loved by our family. We've been going there for years. The little kids I used to take in there have kids of their own now. We've watched their children grow up. Also this is a well established restaurant and they make the best Chinese in town. read more

Decided to give this place a try and I'm so glad that I did! I ordered the firecracker shrimp fried rice and an order of crab Rangoon and both we delicious and expertly prepared. I'd say that the only drawback at this time (9/2022) is that they are only doing take out orders with no dine in option available. A waiter at the Chinese restaurant we used to go to regularly, was extremely rude to my daughter and then called her boyfriend a name usually followed by cat or willow, which is completely unacceptable so we've been looking for a new spot and I'd say I found it. They give you quite a bit of food too, definitely more than enough for two meals! I made sure to grab a to go menu so that we can look at all that's available and place our orders. We were looking for a Chinese restaurant on our drive home from Yosemite. Stopped here and discovered the place was "to-go" only. The portion sizes are great, and they give you a lot of food with the lunch combinations, however the dishes were very saucy. I try to eat on the healthier side,and felt that there was just way too much sauce in all of the entrées. So much that I probably won't finish eating mine. On the plus side there were lots of vegetables in the chicken with mixed vegetables, but I would just suggest eliminating at least 3/4 of the sauce. Then it would taste much better and would be better for you! No one needs to eat that much sodium. read more

Great food! I mean really great. Lots of food! Get the combination meals, they are the best value.And a great value for the money! This is my go to nearly every time. It's small and out of place so to speak but we'll worth the effort to find. I've been coming here for years and years and very rarely have they disappointed us. We have gone to China Dynasty in Modesto off and on as well and their food is excellent but their prices are very high and you don't get a lot of food. Hunan Villa has it all! We can't recommend them enough! We will continue to go there for years to come hopefully! When you go try the Singaporean curried beef, it's not on the menu anymore but they still make for us when we ask and if you like curry it's fantastic!!!! Thank you Hunan Villa!!! read more
