    Loco Moco and Saimin!

My Uncles Favorite Spot! Ono Hawaii classics that are getting harder to find. Very sweet locally own and run. Teri Katsu surprise hit (not pictured). Will be back!

Friendly staff and quick service. I tried the kalua pork hash (definitely sub for fried rice, it's packed with flavor) and a pancake. Both hit the spot and I'll definitely be back

Love this local place! Will definitely come back! Wife had the amazing beef stew and I had a wonderful Ox Tail soup!

For our last lunch in Maui we stopped by Bamboo Grille for some plate lunches and saimin. It's located on the second level of the shopping center, so when you drive up, you'll find plenty of parking spots. I was craving roast pork so I knew I had to get that. The main problem I had was that the gravy and pork were room temperature. The meat also didn't have a lot of flavor. This had potential but just didn't satisfy the craving. My girlfriend got the garlic shrimp plate and that was pretty tasty though. My favorite thing we tried was the saimin noodle soup. The broth was simple and the noodles had a really good consistency to it. Even on a hot day this was tasty and I'd get again. Overall, loved the family, old school vibe of the place and the prices are very reasonable. While I wouldn't get the roast pork again, a lot of the food I saw other tables got looked great. If I'm back visiting, I think it would be worth a second try

Just the other reviews said, the restaurant is challenging to find but if you turn on Waena St. from the Lower Main Rd. and take the ramp on the left up to the upper decker, you'll for sure be able to find the restaurant on the corner with plenty of parking. Unfortunately, they were out of ox tail, as noted on their door. We were greeted by a friendly staff and the restaurant looked clean with very nice paintings on the wall so we decided to still give this place a try. We tried their loco moco and their beef dish. Thought both were just ok. I would've wanted the rice to be softer and my patty not to be charred. The beef dish was more on the salty side. Probably would not get that dish again. However, they do have quite a few other dishes that could potentially be better but will have to come check it out another time. We do love how local this spot is. From the time we were dining there, they had a good flow of locals coming to order take out. With only a limited The staff is kind but service does take a minute with minimal staff. All in all, if I lived here, I wouldn't mind trying out other dishes to get away from the tourist traps and get some local food.

My daughter likes this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Her friend who lives in Maui loves this place so she brought her here and liked the food so she wanted us to try. My daughter and her friend FaceTimed and just by looking at the 2-tone blue wall in the background said "YOU'RE AT BAMBOO GRILLE"! LOL! My husband and daughter ordered the Loco Moco with fried rice which they enjoyed. I tried it and it was pretty good. I wasn't hungry so I ordered the Cheeseburger with french fries. The burger was really soft and tasty and loved the fries! The only complaint I have was that the waitress didn't check to see if we were okay. I drank all my water and had to drink my husband's water. My daughter ordered coffee with free refills but the waitress only came to see if she needed more coffee when she was done eating so she refused so a small cup of coffee for $3.95...pricey!

    Club sandwhich

Food sooo good. I would say this is the best house club sandwhich on the island. So neat and clean. Definitely recommend.

"A small place with big aloha flavor" is what they go by as they serve island hospitality to patrons while putting their own spin on American and Japanese favorites. This hidden gem is a cozy, hole-in-the wall spot in Wailuku. You wouldn't guess a restaurant is in this location unless you were really looking. It can be easily missed, but it's worth a stop. Whether you're in search of an all-day breakfast, local kine grinds, or a comforting bowl of oxtail soup, they have a variety of menu items available. On my first initial visit, I had their chicken cutlet as I kept hearing good things about it. Deep fried, panko crusted chicken smothered in their homemade gravy -- it was delicious! I've also had the breaded teriyaki beef, roast pork, and saimin. All good dishes with the breaded teriyaki beef reminding me of the old Cupie's. Tasty, but almost slightly too salty when I got it a few weeks ago. Bamboo Grille is also known for their large, made from scratch banana macadamia nut pancakes that is dripping in their vanilla bean sauce. Definitely recommend this! You can also order it as a single stack because it's big. An extra side of vanilla bean sauce will run you an extra $4.95 which is pretty steep in my opinion, but it's an option ;) All in all, I would recommend this homey little spot. It's small, so be prepared for a wait.

Back on Maui for the day (4/27/24) and this mom & pop, hole in the wall business was recommended by the rental car staff. @ Budget. We gave it a try and this will be on my list of "go to" when on Maui. Bamboo Grille Maui. How can I miss this biz since I visit Maui so many times, my fault for sticking to mostly the same spots during all my visit. This was a great recommendation. We only tried breakfast but need to visit for lunch next time. My coworker just mentioned that BGM is known for the breaded teriyaki, her daughter's favorite. After checking the Yelp photos for breaded teriyaki I can't wait to go back for this! The rental car staff mentioned we have to try the fried rice so I bypass all the Yelp photos and menu and just ordered their large fried rice with over easy eggs. Single order banana mac. pancakes. This large order of fried rice was more than enough for 2 and the single pancakes are huge! Yep, this fried rice was winnahs, very tasty, moist. There is kalua pork/pork in the fried rice. First time trying fried rice with kalua pork, except for pork adobo fried rice. The only minor thing was the eggs we got was not over easy, I like to pop that yolk on to the rice. The banana mac. pancakes with vanilla sauce was such a treat, for after breakfast sweets. I love that vanilla sauce! Lolo ( grandpa) that brought out our food and drinks was super nice and hardworking. Service was slow ( understandable) due to only one cashier, that does it all- hostess & waitress. They were busy that morning, I recognized passengers who were on the same Southwest flight I was on, they dined here too! All in all, the other half and I sure enjoyed our breakfast here. I am happy we took the advice and gave it a try. Will I be back? YES., of course!! Great spot right here. recommend! Oh Bamboo Grille is located in front of a condo and sort of tucked away on the 2nd level.

You cannot go wrong with Bamboo Grille! Food is always ONOliscious & always gotta have my favorite dish there, Steamed Fish OTD Buggah is killahz, service is quick & not too long of a wait except after Church & the service from our local sistahz is always a family friendly vibe! Go check em go!

    Moco Loco with katsu
    Melzie C.

It's a local spot, not a tourist attraction. Let's start there by adding in 1 star. The banana Mac nut pancakes were decent. Huge (dinner plate size) with few banana and even less macadamia nuts. The sauce overtop was a coconut pudding (warm and tasty) The egg white side was really just two egg whites. Kinda a bummer but that's ok. I got what I needed The dry lo mein without shrimp was really good. Super savory and salty. The Loco moco had great katsu and everything else but the gravy is gross. It's not unique to here, but my kid keeps making the same mistake over and over thinking he will somehow like the gravy this time lol. The kalua pork n eggs was delish (empty plates) nd so was the corned beef which was just ok but the fried rice it came with was super yummy like the noodles were.

    Beef stew moco
    Anna L.

Such a solid, inexpensive comfort food spot with huge portions! There were so many loco moco menu items which was perfect for my boyfriend. He got the beef stew moco, which had the most tender and fatty pieces of beef stew. The flavor was also amazing. I got a large fried rice that I thought was a little bland but with a lot of Tabasco and pepper added it was delicious. Probably one of the best fried rice I've ever had! The only complaint I have is that we got our eggs sunny side up, which was a mistake. As you can see by the photos, the eggs were undercooked and a lot of the whites were still raw on top which kinda turned me off. Service was super friendly and felt like home.

Haven't been here in awhile and had brunch here yesterday morning. Everything is still great. Great portions, great prices and excellent customer service. The employees are so sweet. Check them out.

Holy smokes, that Mochicko Chicken [Hawaiian-style fried chicken made by marinating bite-sized chicken pieces in a sweet and savory soy-garlic batter featuring mochiko (sweet rice flour) before deep-frying] is the bomb! Super crispy bits, amazing flavor, served over garlic noodles...man alive, if you are in Maui and don't grab takeout here, you may as well not go to Maui. It is takeout only and my wife didn't want fried food so she ordered something from the Mexican joint across the parking lot. Since she ordered food there, we figured it'd be ok to eat our heavenly chicken dishes there....NOPE; we were asked to leave. BOO. You can really taste the quality. One little detail I appreciate is that they dice the onions small, rather than the big chunks you get at a lot of other places. It makes for a better bite every time. They have a great variety too, with everything from spicy ahi to tako and shoyu options. Are they on the higher priced side? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes. This is a nice "treat yourself" kind of poke, and we will absolutely be back. If you are looking for quality fresh poke on Maui, give Kaohu Store a try.

It's definitely more of a convenient store than a restaurant. Everything is to-go only, there is definitely no seating available. Also, if you thought you wanted to eat in your car, don't plan on it, as there is a very explicit sign that says no eating, parking for 5 minutes only. Despite all these particular eating criteria, I enjoyed trying the various pokes! They have at least 10 different to choose from, that it was difficult choosing just two for my husband and I to try. I believe I got the Hawaiian Style, and also the Shoyu style. I liked the Shoyu one a bit better, for more sauciness and soy sauce added to the ahi. I also really liked how this place includes rice (huge win for eating right away!) and in a separate container! Well thought out!! Also credit cards are accepted. Great poke find quite close to the airport. Would recommend if you're starving coming off your flight, want something fast and easy, that you can enjoy instantly.

We were greeted as we came in and told to check out the menu and join the line when we were ready to order. Tables were on a first come first served basis. The server on floor was a man of many suits is what my granddad said. He juggled hosting, clearing tables, taking orders, food delivery service, phone orders, and serving meals. His service was very efficient and hospitable. Their menu is expansive which made deciding both easy and hard for most of us since their whole menu sounded great. We all ended up with their top sellers, the server knowing it was our first time to Hawaii recommended this famous Hawaiian dish. Something about hearing homemade gravy and burger patties along with runny eggs sounds too good to miss out on, with being name Loco Moco, what's not to try? Their famous smoked pork (what they are known for) glazed with this sweet pineapple sauce with a nice punch of heat was definitely a highlight for everyone at the table. We also got the Korean style beef ribs that's served on a hot skillets. The aroma filled the restaurant and definitely captured everyone's attention, this by far was my favorite thing on our table aside from the coconut cake which we had for dessert (Justin, tell your sister I need the recipe!). For seafood we got the Ahi katsu salad (we had to be somewhat healthy lol) it was nice and crispy on the outside. Sauces complemented the juicy flavorful dish so well. I never had papaya seed dressing before until today and I ended up buying my own at Safeway! Sweet, tangy, refreshing paired well with the fish. Hurricane mochi chicken was juicy on the outside and the crispy skin was coated with Hurricane sauce (Teri aioli sauce) so good my nephew bought a bottle to take home. Overall the food was amazing. Server checked on us several times, offering to go plates if you need them ( we didn't need it, we had a proper "mopsesh" ) Disclaimer: They serve their food on paper plates, trust me the food taste better on these plates.
