New food truck area in the heart of wailuku located off Kanoa street across of Coffee Attic and Bale. The ambiance is a little empty right now being that they were the only truck in the lot. Service was pretty quick being I was the only customer there. I had the carne asada taco the flavor was there but the meat wasn't as tender as I would have liked. The shrimp taco was delicious loved all of the toppings cilantro, cojita cheese they even had a little cactus. I didn't care for the hot sauce because it was super watery ,it would have made tortillas soggy. I will be back to try more!

TIKI DAVE and family loves TIN ROOF MAUI!…read more While our cruise ship was in port, we stopped in after I did some serious research to settle upom Tin Roof and boy were we glad! Holy smokes, that Mochicko Chicken [Hawaiian-style fried chicken made by marinating bite-sized chicken pieces in a sweet and savory soy-garlic batter featuring mochiko (sweet rice flour) before deep-frying] is the bomb! Super crispy bits, amazing flavor, served over garlic noodles...man alive, if you are in Maui and don't grab takeout here, you may as well not go to Maui. It is takeout only and my wife didn't want fried food so she ordered something from the Mexican joint across the parking lot. Since she ordered food there, we figured it'd be ok to eat our heavenly chicken dishes there....NOPE; we were asked to leave. BOO. So we finished, well, the kids finished on the way to nearby Kanaha Beach Park and I finished mine there under the airport and within sight of our ship. It really is a lovely beach. TIKI DAVE from TIKI DAVE'S TERRIFIC TRIPS highly highly recommends TIN ROOF! I will be dropping a video of our experience shortly! Our group ordered a little bit of everything - all with garlic noodles as the side since it seemed to very popular based on the reviews. We went with the mochiko chicken (animal style), spicy ahi poke, and pork belly. Mochicko chicken was good, but some pieces were cold and fatty which wasn't very pleasant. The animal style sauce was really tasty, and didn't overpower the chicken, it complimented the plate well! The noodles weren't very garlicky at all, definitely felt it was lacking flavor. Poke was good, but the pieces of fish were in pretty large chunks. Lastly, the pork belly was just okay. As a local, I think this place is a good introduction for tourists to get a taste of local flavors. But definitely hit up some other local spots even Zippy's for comparison. Maybe I just went on a off day. To end off on a positive note they do offer a few vegetarian and vegan options!

First…read moreimpression was this place must be good, they have a line of hungry diners and each table was taken. We were greeted as we came in and told to check out the menu and join the line when we were ready to order. Tables were on a first come first served basis. The server on floor was a man of many suits is what my granddad said. He juggled hosting, clearing tables, taking orders, food delivery service, phone orders, and serving meals. His service was very efficient and hospitable. Their menu is expansive which made deciding both easy and hard for most of us since their whole menu sounded great. We all ended up with their top sellers, the server knowing it was our first time to Hawaii recommended this famous Hawaiian dish. Something about hearing homemade gravy and burger patties along with runny eggs sounds too good to miss out on, with being name Loco Moco, what's not to try? Their famous smoked pork (what they are known for) glazed with this sweet pineapple sauce with a nice punch of heat was definitely a highlight for everyone at the table. We also got the Korean style beef ribs that's served on a hot skillets. The aroma filled the restaurant and definitely captured everyone's attention, this by far was my favorite thing on our table aside from the coconut cake which we had for dessert (Justin, tell your sister I need the recipe!). For seafood we got the Ahi katsu salad (we had to be somewhat healthy lol) it was nice and crispy on the outside. Sauces complemented the juicy flavorful dish so well. I never had papaya seed dressing before until today and I ended up buying my own at Safeway! Sweet, tangy, refreshing paired well with the fish. Hurricane mochi chicken was juicy on the outside and the crispy skin was coated with Hurricane sauce (Teri aioli sauce) so good my nephew bought a bottle to take home. Overall the food was amazing. Server checked on us several times, offering to go plates if you need them ( we didn't need it, we had a proper "mopsesh" ) Disclaimer: They serve their food on paper plates, trust me the food taste better on these plates. The locals next to us said that's what you call a plate lunch while watching our food hit the table Overall experience was great, the service was impressive, the food was amazing, and the place was neat and clean. Thank you Justin for sharing a piece of your family with mines. We will definitely be returning on our next trip. Congratulations with the restaurant expanding as well! You guys are an inspiration! PS: While you wait for your food, read up on their wall and learn a bit of Hawaiian History. They also have a portrait of Sparky's himself.

Looking for a kid and family friendly Restaurant with Local and Filipino Cuisine? Look no further…read moreand head to Tante's Island Cuisine in the heart of Kahului at the Maui Seaside Hotel. Our Ohana and family friends have been eating here for years. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If you're looking for a place to have a small gathering or celebration, they do catering and had a small party near our table (we were told to be quiet during a prayer for that party which we respectfully did). Our family of 7 ordered a variety of food. My nephew is Vegan and there was a Veggie Stir Fry he ordered, to my Brother in Law who likes it "simple" so he got Beef Teriyaki with Macaroni Salad, and to my mom and niece who love their Filipino food, mom ordered a Tamarind Soup with Shrimp and Vegetables called Sinigang, and my niece ordered a Peanut Sauce dish called Kare Kare. My dad and I stick to our favorites. He got his usual Baby Back Ribs (which I didn't get to picture) and I got my usual Local Favorites Combo that had the most tender and savory Beef Teriyaki and crispy Mahi Mahi with Tartar Sauce on a bed of Cabbage. The Molokai Sweet Potato is a must when you get a side but this time, I did crave some greens so I opted for a side salad with Papaya Dressing. Meal isn't complete without Dessert! And Filipino Ice Dessert I might add...Halo Halo (which literally translates to "mix mix"). Being the true Fil-American that I am, I don't like to "Mix Mix" because I prefer my Ube Ice Cream in tact. I explained this to my Brother in Law from the Mainland who also said this is the first Purple anything he's ever eaten haha! But this is a refreshing dessert to end the meal since it has fresh cantaloupe, avocado, coconut, banana, and jellies, with ice covered in evaporated and condensed milk. If you want to "mix mix" let your inner Filipino out! Our visiting family had a great time catching up and enjoyed our yummy meal together. The Filipino aunty servers are always top notch and serve your food with Aloha! We probably only waited 15 minutes or so for the food as well which is always appreciated especially when hungry.

They've been part of the island's food scene for over 12 years now, and I still remember their off-the-beaten-path spot on Hobron Avenue in Kahului. You would have never guessed there was delicious food being served up there, but those who knew, knew. These days, you can find them in Kahului parked at Da Tambayan Corner on Lono Avenue, or sometimes popping up out at Ho'okipa. Now, full disclosure -- I don't eat raw fish, so I can't personally vouch for their poke bowls, but that's what they're known for and I've had a number of friends and family enjoy it. What I can vouch for, though, is their fried poke -- perfectly seasoned ahi cubes, floured and fried, served over rice and lettuce, and drizzled with a creamy mayo aioli. Get it hurricane style for extra sauce and furikake seasoning -- it's delicious and gives it an extra boost as once in a while it's on the drier side. Another favorite is the poke bake, which is just as satisfying and generously portioned. Started getting this recently and it hits the spot. Highly recommend either dish, especially if you're like me and prefer your fish cooked. And whatever you do, don't skip the furikake fries -- curly fries topped with aioli and furikake. SO good. Beyond the great food, my team has worked with Like Poke for company events, and they're always a hit. Friendly service and consistent quality eats that keep people coming back -- they're a favorite among locals for a reason.
