We had take out for lunch. Drunken noodles with pork, pad Thai with chicken and beef satay. Up until today, one of our top Thai restaurants was located in north jersey where great food is everywhere. I think Bamboo Leaf is my new favorite. Everything was extremely flavorful and juicy. Truly excellent food. I don't know about the dining experience but if you're looking for delicious Thai- this is a good place. The prices are a little higher however you get large portions. A+! read more

I almost cried after my first bite, it's that good. For our first trip we had a little of everything, and not one thing disappointed. We had the fish cakes and dumplings for a starter. Fish cakes had a great snap, and an amazing taste. The sweet chili sauce with cucumbers took it over the edge. The dumplings were simple and tender. My boyfriend had the caramel short ribs for his dinner. They were amazing, soaked in a sauce that would make a flip flop taste good. But the star of the night was the Thai Basil fried rice with beef. Thursday in June, plenty of tables. We sat near the window, nice spot to people watch. I am fairly new to Thai food so I don't count as an expert but this place is better than any Thai I've had before. The food is very fresh and comes to the table piping hot...gotta love hot food! I had the Pad See Ew with chicken and it was delicious! Good flavor all the way through. Only complaint is that I ordered it without mushrooms and it came with mushrooms. I was just here the other night to celebrate my moms birthday. What a nice and cozy place, I've heard great things but never had the opportunity to go! Another reason we went was because it was BYOB, which is a great plus! We ordered the Som Tum, Seafood Salad, calamari, and the crab dumplings( or shumai, I forget the actual name) to start with! Som Tum was great, basic Thai papaya salad, but the real stars of the appetizers was the calamari and seafood salad. The calamari had nice breading to it! For dinner, I ordered the Pad Kea Mow (Drunken Noodles) with scallops ( the option was not on the menu, but they were happy to make it for me), red curry chicken, soft shell crab curry, and some sort of curry prawns (I forgot this dish as well haha). The food quality was good, all the dishes we're tasty, and the only thing I thought that lacked was the flavor in the soft shell crab curry! But hey, their's no such thing as a perfect restaurant! Overall the service was great, waters we're filled, they gave us an ice bucket for our wine, and they had clean bathrooms! PS I got my drunken noodles "Thai Spicy," if your up heat seeker like me. What? How the hell did I not know there was a Thai restaurant within 10 minutes of me? More IMPORTANTLY... how did I not know there was a GREAT Thai restaurant withing 10 minutes of me?! About two weeks ago I spotted this place, driving in Bradley Beach. We stopped in with less than high expectations since Thai food in this area is usually not even worth ingesting because you'll probably be up all night barfing up greasy noodles. This was not the case, however, with Bamboo Leaf. I stuck with staples that I know and love, beef sate and pad thai, and boyf ordered crispy honey duck as his entree. The beef sate was cooked and seasoned perfectly and I enjoyed every tender bite, paired with their delightful peanut-chile sauce and sweet, refreshing pickled cucumber salad. My pad thai was absolutely delicious and I wish I could have finished the whole plate but the portion was so big! Good thing pad thai tastes great reheated! Boyf's honey duck was absolutely DELICIOUS. Oh glory, glory, GLORIOUS crispy, honey drenched ducky, how I wish I could have stolen you right off his plate and had you all to myself. But I'm not a selfish twat. I will order you next time. And there will be many next times. read more

This is by far the blandest Thai food I have ever had. Their panang has only heat, not flavor, no basil, hardly any coconut flavor. It seemed the base to their sauces was a watered down low quality canned skippy type peanut butter. Me and my group of 6 couldn't ind it in our hearts or stomachs to finish any of the food, and took most of it to go to give away. The food is spicy, but otherwise lacked flavor. The tofu isn't fried first, so its just bowls of overcooked veg. and chunks of plain raw tofu in a boring white "curry" sauce. This food gave my wife major diarrhea. Bon Apetit! The service went like this. We waited 15 minutes for a table. We were seated and after 10 minutes I got up to get menus, since we were being ignored by the waiter. Eventually, I had to go find the waiter to place our order. When it was time to leave, I had to chase him down to get the bill and pay it. We checked this place out because we heard so many nice things about it from so many people. Maybe we just came on an off night? I think New Jersey doesn't doesn't eat enough Thai food to be able to tell me where it is really good though. The other place that came highly recommended to me was "Far East Taste" in Eatontown, which also sucked, but had better service and didn't cost as much. I would say the best around Monmouth County is "Thai Chilies" on rt 35 in Eatontown. read more

Our group of four got Thai take out from Bamboo leaf last night. We got the drunken noodles with vegetables and tofu, Pad Thai, red curry with chicken and the sweet and sour chicken stir fry. The drunken noodles had just the right amount of spice without being over-powerful. They were flavorful and delicious. Mmmm! The red curry was equally balanced between flavor and spice, although a little heavy on the potato. The chicken in the stir fry was sliced thin and tender. The flavors in the Pad Thai complimented each other well and the lime wedge as the perfect finishing touch. The portions were generous and definitely good value for the money. The only downside to an otherwise fabulous dining experience was the packaging. The food was crammed in undersized takeout containers that promptly spilled on our way home. They stuffed four meals in one small plastic bag and most of the sauce ended up on my husband's lap on the way home. So, in short, fabulous food, generous portions, just a terrible packaging job. But what's a little spillage when you a have full belly at the end of the night? It was well worth it! read more

Quick Disclaimer: I am not the biggest fan of Thai or Viet food. If you look through my reviews you will see this as I dont think I have ever Yelped about one until now. This one is worth it. My dad and I decided to walk over as he lives in the area. He had wanted to try Bamboo Leaf for a while and with me being in town he figured it was the perfect chance. The place is small and quaint but certainly looks authentic. We got down to biz after shootin the breeze and ordered. The app was chicken satay which for me is a formality, and it was awesome. Along with a peanut butter sauce they also served a spicy cucumber and tomato vinegar. It went perfect. Main course, went with the drunken flat noodles, and it was pretty damm good. I love the way the Thai mix sweet and spicy in many of their dishes. I will admit it took me a few bites to get used to it but once I did it was awesome. The funniest part was after we order viet coffee. It comes black and my dad had it and hated it! He thought it tasted stronger then motor oil. (his actual words) Our lovely waitress Tia came over and explained we had to mix from the bottom as they used condensed milk which becomes layered. Well... We sipped again and sure enough... It was the best damm coffee I think i ever had! Had a sort of chocolate taste to it and I wish I ordered seconds... Only reason i did not give the Leaf a perfect score, was because I dont know enough about other thai places. I do reserve the right to rescore this! Our waitress Tia was awesome and really nice and helpful. I felt bad for her because they got busy and she was the only waitress. Unfortunately I guess they were a bit understaffed. Wonderful Tom Kah, the fried rice is exceptional, and the dumplings are a great way to start the meal off. Food: thai basil fried rice great. Massaman curry too watery. Service: one waiter for 8+ tables. He was not attentive , understandably because he was so busy. Did not refill water. Never checked to see how we were doing. We literally had to go up to front for additional service. I can understand being busy, but he acted like he was being inconvenienced by us. Didn't bring bucket of ice for wine, while other tables had this. He was shorthanded and stink about it. Dont save money on the service just to offer poor service. Price: unreasonably high 'nyc' prices for a basic meal; this is moms cooking, not gourmet, we should not be paying $25 for a veg entree. Oh man. I don't want to do this. I wish I could provide a rating without a star. It's almost like the universe is telling me not to come here anymore. On Sunday night, I called around 6pm, in hopes of getting some sweet Thai takeout for my boyfriend and me. I spent close to 10 minutes redialing Bamboo Leaf's number, which kept ringing. And ringing. And ringing. And I know they were definitely open. Their hours said so! Come last night, we were still feelin' that itch for Thai. I couldn't wait to dig into a heaping mound of pad Thai. But it never happened. After we got seated, we waited FIFTEEN minutes - and still no server, nobody came by our table. The place wasn't busy at all. Every other table was receiving some sort of service. We flagged down a bus boy and asked him to find a server. He blinked at us and walked away. Upon coming back to wipe down the table behind us, he stared at us emotionlessly. Nothing. Anyone home up there? Feeling fed up, sad and really hungry, we got up and left. I have never done that before. What an insult. I've been coming to Bamboo Leaf for years, have sang its praises and spent good money. Hell, my boyfriend and I get takeout from here on our anniversary! I've received better service at Cubacan. And that's saying something. read more

I'm currently in New Jersey for work and coming from southern California, I eat a lot of asian food! However, I soon found out that Bradley Beach did not have many asian restaurants. The majority of the "asian restaurants" around here are all chinese takeout. The other night I just had a strong craving for asian food, specifically Thai food. After looking up yelp, I found out that Bamboo Leaf was the only Thai restaurants within a 30 mile radius of me so my roommate and I went to try it out. It's a nice little place of main street with room inside. I decided to get the drunken noodles with chicken while my roommate got pad thai with beef. Although there was only one waiter, service was pretty good due to the fact that there was only 3 other tables beside us. The food came out in a good amount of time. I'm usually a pad thai eater but decided to try something different with spice to eat. The drunken noodles were really good with great flavor and good kick of spice to it. I ate it all up and it was a good size portion. The pad thai my roommate got didn't appear as appealing as my dish. The pad thai didn't seem like what I'm use to, but my roommate said she did enjoy it. Overall, this place is great with good dishes. The only downer for me though was the price! My drunken noodle with chicken was $14.99 while the pad thai with chicken was $15.99. If you would had gotten shrimp with any of the two it would have been $19.99. Coming from socal, I'm use to $10 dishes but seeing as this is the only place for miles I can't complain too much! read more

Only disappointment was the sea scallops -- expensive ($25) for 5 stringy ones (I expected them to be melt-in-your-mouth buttery) despite the freshest stir-fried vegetables I've ever had. Bamboo Leaf is down the street from my house, and when I have extra money, I love to come here! I usually get takeout, but I've eaten here a few times! The interior design is really nice, asian themed of course, with browns, greens and golds. Very nice atmosphere! It's BYO, and it's very small. They now have outdoor dining in the summer. It's located on a main street on Bradley Beach. The staff is very friendly and if you want to change your order, or have it served in a different kind of packaging, they'll do that for you. I had ordered one of my faves, Bo Luc Lac, which is filet mignon with watercress in a soy sauce based marinade but it always leaked, so they started giving it to me in a plastic container because I said it always leaked when I got it in the foil container w/ plastic lid. The pad thai is also very good. There are 2 downsides to this place though: *They don't answer the phone alot of times when you try to call in your order, which has made me choose another restaurant when that happens. *They are kind of pricey. Other thai restaurants offer much lower prices, honestly. I do like this place though, and despite the higher prices, I am a happy customer! read more

Fantastic authentic Thai food. The staff is always incredibly friendly and the food really speaks for itself. A great plus that you can BYOB, and the relaxing atmosphere makes for an ideal date-night. The pricing is a bit on the higher side, but definitely worth it for that boost in quality you get over competing Thai places in the area (and the portions are very generous). I really, really, really wanted to like this place. It's cute and local to where I live, and I've heard good reviews from friends and read them here as well. BUT, my experience was different. My wife and I ordered Pad Thai, and Shrimp in Green Curry. The Pad Thai was very good, the noodles were perfect with a bit of chew to them, just the way I like it. The green curry dish was tasty too, but the shrimp in the dish were terrible, they were definitely past their prime which should have been noticed by the chef. Regardless of being fresh or frozen, shrimp should be plump and firm, these had a mealy texture, were mushy, and tasted on the verge of being spoiled. A few were fine, but the majority were bad...I pushed them all to the side and finished the dish which otherwise had great flavor. Ok, so any restaurant can fumble a dish now and then...but this did it for me, I wont be back. read more

Excellent food and excellent service. Finally tried this spot after living just down the street from it for years. Ordered the Thai basil fried rice with chicken (extra spicy) and the Chicken Saté. Food was ready in 15 minutes and was piping hot when I got through the door. The Thai basil fried rice is heavenly. What a great dish. The chicken saté also very good, but the rice was superior. Portion wise, you seem to get a ton of food. I have leftovers for at least two days. Can't wait to return!! read more

Very cool place. As soon as I walked in I felt a good vibe with the architectural style and size of the restaurant. I am a BIG fan of spicy food so this place was great for me. I ordered the drunken noodles with beef (delicious!!). My only issue with the place was the service. The entire restaurant had only one waiter and one hostess with about 10 full tables! As the night went on around 7 pm on a Thursday night, it was a struggle for the waiter to get to us. Overall, they were very nice people. Would be better to have had a bigger staff for that given night. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be going back. read more

As I write this, I realize I haven't written a negative review before though we eat out frequently. Nicely met at the door and received a table quickly without a reservation. My dish came out spicy despite indicating no spice when the server asked if I wanted spicy or not spicy. Ok. Mistakes happen. No one checked on how our meals came out but we finally got the server's attention. New dish was not spicy but smelled horrible and included inedible chicken. Despite the initial problem with my order, no one returned to the table to check if the second try was any better. Also waited 10 minutes for our check to be attended to at the end of the meal. The restaurant was very loud clearly without enough servers. The manager or owner is clearly not sending the right tone here regarding customer service. Also charged for a refill of a fountain soda. First time I ever saw that. Two stars instead of one because my dining partner's meal was decent though not special. read more

This place has changed. It used to be our favorite place to go to, but not anymore. To begin with the portion sizes have become smaller but the prices have remained the same. We only ask for a little bit of spice, but our noodle dish was so spicy it was inedible not one person could eat it. It also appears that the beef they are currently buying is different. The texture is tough and it is hard to chew. This place has gone completely downhill and we will no longer recommend it or come here anymore. read more
