Okay, the pluses. First, they deliver which is outstanding because not everyone does. It was about 10-15 minutes away, so it's not like it was right around the corner either. Zero delivery fee thru Grubhub.The sweet and sour pork was okay. It was a little dry, but the sweet and sour sauce helped it. The chunks were a little big especially for kids. Yes, I could have cut them into bite size pieces, but why? It was an excellent portion though. I'm glad I only got a kids size. You can see in the picture how much the kids size gets you. Now, the negatives. The food wasn't that great. The orange chicken was eh. The lo mein was bad. The fried rice was okay I guess. But the worst was the milk tea. Lemon chicken from Bamboo is the absolute best!! Crispy & tender. The fried rice is also amazing! There is chicken fried rice in the picture. I've also tried the combo fried rice, the beef, & pork! Highly disappointing experience. Ordered Pad Thai with tofu and asked for it to be mildly spicy yet this was nowhere near spicy. It was nearly tasteless, too. I had to add several packets of soy sauce just to give it some flavor. One is not supposed to literally shake their head so much in absolute disappointment while trying to enjoy their meal. Their cook needs more training. This Pad Thai is just flat-out disappointing. Bamboo has numerous menu items, which I believe contributes to their inability to properly prepare their dishes. It was a gorgeous day to be outside at night so why not? There is a outside window where u can order from and they are nice enough to let some people take the menu to the car. Honestly, not great. Went with a group of 5 at around 8:30, and things quickly went downhill. Our "5 minute wait" quickly turned into close to 15 despite no one else waiting. We thought nothing of it, and proceeded to order a few different bobo drinks, the Panda Sampler and some entrees. The boba was the first to arrive and we quickly noted that aside from the tea based drinks, everything tasted like straight up milk with the slightest hint of flavor. Most of our food arrived at hour later at 9:30, but we didn't receive the rest until about 9:45, right before they closed. We had some issues, but our server was inattentive, and we were unable to address anything until the bill was being brought. I was accidentally charged an extra drink, which I was told would be removed, and was not. The service was full of attitude, and not worth it for what was received. My group has all worked in food, and would never be at a restaurant so close to closing if the service had not taken so long. Rough shifts happen, but communication is necessary. This has to bee the coolest Chinese restaurant in south town! I ordered the noodles with chicken and a egg drop soup and it was delish! My friends ordered other chicken dishes and also looked tasty. Food was warm, delicious, and portion was great. Our server was very friendly and pointed out some good choices from the menu too. The restaurant is very cozy, themed music is upbeat, and the place is clean. It is so inspiring it feels like I'm somewhere in the middle of a busy city in Asia. Southtown is a place that once you become familiar with a business it suddenly closes. It's like a semi-vicious cycle. No sooner does a place fold that another business inhabits its former shell. Such is the case with The Bamboo, an Asian Fusion restaurant although I'm perplexed by this notion. But no matter. Part of the perplexity comes from the fact that it used to be The Kung Fu Kitchen an Asian Fusion spot as well. But it leaned more towards being a bar. Are you still with me? Please follow along. The place itself is decorated Southtown Chic'. I myself am more partial to a Chinese "Hole in the wall" restaurant. Or to the one with a gaudy interior, Golden Dragon glory and all. Instead it's hip. It's cool. It's DOPE. ( I've been waiting since 1983 to use that term!) DeadMau5 is playing overhead. So I'll just fast forward to my experience, I was pleasantly surprised. The place was empty before an early dinner. I'm assuming it eventually gets a rush. A server, who I might add was excellent seated me. I was handed a menu and I studiously observed it. All their offerings were basic Asian fare: Lemon Chicken. Kung Pao. Spring Rolls etc. Don't expect your rangoons to be sculpted like Chinese Terracotta Soldiers. They're pretty straight forward dishes. I ordered their dumplings for an appetizer which all turned out to be good. For an entrèe I had their orange beef with accompanying fried rice, and cream cheese rangoons. Everything was served steaming hot, generous portions I might add. All items were surprisingly delicious. Of course there's hundreds of places that create the same style of food throughout the city. However for Southtown fare it's a welcome addition. While my experience here was pleasant I did have two critiques : The sauce on the orange beef was a bit too sweet and saucy for my taste. The server did say that they can adjust any orders the way you like. And a bigger one the parking situation leaves little to be desired. They need to allot specific spaces as the Southtown Parking PoPo function on Magnum P.I. mode, at all times. Bamboo is a relatively new spot in the musical chairs that is Southtown. The food is good. The service is excellent. And the price is right. Whether you come here with workers for lunch. Or with company for a laidback dinner it's not a bad way to start a night. Parking can be a bit interesting. But hey if you don't mind parallel parking the Bird Rider next to you won't either. read more

I gave this restaurant 3 stars because the food wasn't terrible. This restaurant is currently take out only. I walked up to the window that had a sign that said, "order here." The waitress did not say anything to me at all, not "hello" or "can I take your order?" or "are you picking up?" I told her I would like to place an order. She did not say anything to me. She just turned around and grabbed a paper and pen and looked at me. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli but when I got home I had beef and broccoli instead. The egg drop soup was missing something, I couldn't put my finger on it. My egg roll was burnt on one side. The service is quick and there are preferred employee discounts when you walk in and they see you with your ID or if you tell them (.77) cents off the check. I walked in and got a complete lunch with egg roll, rangoons, mongolian beef added mushrooms, soup and a drink for less than eight dollars. The art is really southtown, the ambiance allows for comfort and it is a clean place. Show up between 11 - 1130 for the best seating as it gets packed after 12 pm. read more

There aren't very many vegetarian options on the menu, but I enjoyed my meal. It came with a lot of food. The dinner entrees came with rice, veggie rolls, and a soup of your choice. We got the spicy egg drop. It wasn't that spicy, but it a classic egg drop and came with plenty of crunchies. My tofu was nice, though I wish there were a little more veggies in the dish.
