Got the Setto curated sushi set and had no complaints! Everything was fresh from the sashimi to the rolls. Honestly wasn't expecting much from this place but was highly recommended by a friend of mine. Savannah our server was great! Bonus points for how good our drinks were.

Delish! Great service outside. Food and drinks were great per usual. Staff was very friendly. Got serenaded by local live music around the corner.

Bamboo Sushi on NW 23rd has easily become one of my favorite Portland spots for sushi happy hour when I'm in town! I've stopped by twice now and each time I had a great experience. The ambiance is beautiful, cozy, and perfect for a solo date or dinner with friends. On my first visit, I sat at the bar with a friend and had fantastic service! Our bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and walked us through his cocktail making which was awesome! During my second visit, I sat in the dining room with two other friends and had an equally great experience. The cocktails were tasty and the food was chef's kiss! GOOD EATS: Green Machine Roll (tempura fried green bean, green onion, avocado, cilantro, sweet chili aioli with salmon) Spicy Albacore and Spicy Salmon Hand Rolls Honey Wasabi Chicken Consistently great service, delicious food, and such a chill atmosphere def a must-try for sushi happy hour in Portland!

Stopped by quick bite since saw this place on Resy and was amazed. First, very hospitable and very friendly staff who gives you recommendations and check on you without being noisy. Also I came during Portland Dining Month so had to try their offer and it was great. Miso soup very flavorful and full, chicken is amazing and not overly dry. Sushi - amazing. Freshly made and delicious. Atmosphere in this place was very chill and relaxing, inviting for conversation. Recommend to visit for sure. Also their bar is good, I didn't have a drink but will be back for it

Stopped by the 23rd location for bamboo- went in around 2 pm on a Sunday and we were able to be seated right away! Our order came out quickly, and the tuna crispy rice, hamachi crudo and other dishes were all amazing!

I had a great experience at bamboo for lunch today. I've had several items on their menu but the Green Machine is a can't miss! I love think the brussel sprouts are also a standout. The service is always quick and friendly. This is a smaller location but the inside was nice and quiet.

Highly recommend this sushi spot if you are in Portland. It's my first time at Bamboo sushi and it has amazing food and delicious cocktails that did not disappoint. Appetizers: - Tempura cauliflower (MUST ORDER) that sweet tangy flavorful tempura battered cauliflower was one of the best appetizer I've ever had. - Chicken Karaage - Just like the normal karaage , not bad - Wasabi Honey Chicken - Initially, I thought it's just chicken covered in honey, but to my surprise (forgot to take a photo) - Shrimp tempura - very good, I like how the tempura batter is very thin but crispy. - Edamame and the garlic fried rice - nothing special, the fried rice was a bit soggy in my opinion. We ordered the Kazoku Board which feeds 6-8 ppl, this board was MASSIVE!!! It consists of a few rolls which Green Machine was a big hit and fresh sushi / sashimi. There were 6 of us and we pretty much finished all the food with a full belly. We opted out of dessert because we wanted to go Salt & Straw ice cream which was right next door. Thank you for a great meal!

I LOVE BAMBOO!! One of my favorite sushi places in Portland never had anything bad! I love the rolls and sashimi and the Tempura cauliflower is a must! Bamboo is good for any occasion, the indoor/outdoor seating is perfect for a summer day.

Consistently wonderful sushi here at Bamboo. We had a variety of sashimi and rolls at the table. Love that the kitchen is primarily gluten free, so no issues ensuring my friend with celiac was safe. Service was great despite being a busy afternoon. Ambiance was casual and quiet. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing space. Highly recommend any of their locations.

Came to Bamboo for a quick lunch on a weekday. It got the job done but was nothing to write home about. The roll was on the pricier side and was nothing special taste-wise. The Wagyu burger, which I had heard good things about, had a hearty portion of meat but did not taste like much else. I asked for my meat to be cooked medium but it came out well done. I did enjoy the taro chips that came with it, though. Overall my experience was nothing special, though perhaps I didn't order the right things.

Service: 8/10 our waiter was very kind. I asked him a lot of questions about the ingredients and food and he graciously provided every answer despite it being busy. He also was fast, didn't forget anything and was all in all a great human. Also, so cool that they a really cool company that sources their food sustainably, love this. Ambiance: 7/10 dim lit, nice date night decor Food: 5/10 the only truly impressive thing I've had here is the green machine roll. It's relatively affordable for the size and unreal flavor. Everything else I've had here just cannot come close. GREEN MACHINE: 10/10 best sushi I've ever had. Do not pass this up. Crunchy tempura with unreal sauce. The sauce is sweet, creamy & fresh tasting. It's made with egg yolk, cilantro, a hint of garlic and sweet chili sauce. It is truly unreal and very impressive. This restaurant could survive on this dish alone. UNICORN: 6.5/10 jalepeno sauce was good. Beautiful presentation. It was a refreshing sushi roll. It was good. GARLIC CHILI CHICKEN: 3/10 don't get this. Chicken was cooked beautifully. Nice char. The Fresno chilies added nice acidity but the flavor just was flat, I couldn't taste the garlic or chili. Just tasted like a underwhelming teriyaki. The bed of green beans had a few nice bites and the cooking method was unique but all in all, this dish was a disappointment. GREEN BEANS: 2/10 this dish was bland. Please do not order this. The pickled onions helped, the beans were cooked perfectly and the crunchy tempura was a nice texture but this dish had 0 flavor. Just tasted like a bland green bean.

The three of us spent well over $500, so plan accordingly. The restaurant itself is stunning. The gorgeous cherry blossom tree in the center creates a beautiful atmosphere and makes for the perfect photo spot. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and I'd definitely recommend making a reservation since it gets busy. The menu has something for everyone, from incredible seafood to premium meats, and everything we tried was delicious. My favorites were the crudo, the fried rice, and the desserts. Do yourself a favor and order both the bingsu Korean shaved ice and the matcha dessert! If you're celebrating something special, Janken is worth the splurge!

Finally had my go at the supposed "Nobu" of Portland. Well, I've never been to Nobu so I can't…read moredraw conclusions there but I can tell you we have something special here at Janken. The interior is certainly instagram worthy with a beautiful interior cherry tree as the centerpiece of the interior. The star of the show really is the food though, right? My wife tried the caviar as she had never tried this before and it was superb. I had the waygu steak and it was as buttery as it should be and cooked to perfection. We tried several smaller dishes and all were divine. I should mention also, the cocktails are crafted with care and not too boozy. Service was fantastic with a no rush approach and a subtle check in frequently to make sure everything is covered off (drinks, etc.).
