The Egg & Bacon Cheesy Soufflé has delicious, crispy, thick bacon and the fondue contrasts well with the 3 rather large and bland soufflés, however I would have appreciated more than 1 egg as protein (me being me!) Consider drinks and an appetizer if you order the coveted Soufflé, minimum time promised is 45 minutes. We arrived 5 minutes after the restaurant opened (11:30 am) and the time went up to 1 hour wait. Ensure that the waiter has the right order too! The Japanese Sizzling Wagyu Cheeseburger ($31) is served in a very creative way: Cut in half over fondue. Sadly, it was hard to taste the wagyu meat in this combination. Think if you really want fries (an extra $5), they're are OK. There are about 25 tables, and brunch is so popular, that the staff rarely stopped by to refresh our drinks. However, if you're lucky, you might catch chef Dan Bian helping around, and even see her magically slip into a striking body-con and sit down with guests to enjoy a drink. I came here right at opening around 11:30 am the following day after stopping by their Hawthorne locations in hope of trying their souffle pancakes, but they have moved their souffle operation to only at the 23rd location. When I ordered, I was told it would be about 20 minutes, so I ended up ordering a Ube latte and their won ton while I waited for my ever elusive souffle pancakes. The won ton was good. The broth was nice and clear and the dumplings skins were silky smooth. The innered were well seasoned. The Ube Latte came out in a 12 oz mug, but I want told that a shot of espresso cost extra which I didn't order, but was included on my final check. I think I will not be ordering drinks here again, due to the hidden cost. The souffle pancakes were so soft and fluffy and well presented. Clearly a super cute social media noted place. I came across it on Instagram and it's a place I see people post about often so I knew I had to go. The Ube Waffle was perfect, lightly sweet, great taste of real ube and with the generous helping of Chantilly Crème and fruit *and* syrup, it was a sweet brunch dream! The matcha latte tasted very good, a little frothy but still a good consistency, only thing was the bits of matcha powder at the bottom. But after speaking with the barista and for being only their second day it was still very tasty and they took the feedback with grace. Stylish restaurant for a date night. We came by on a Saturday night for drinks and snacks. I enjoyed some interesting cocktails, both really delicious, both contained elderflower liquor. We both ordered an entree, mine was the fried rice, the other was wonton soup. The food came out fairly fast and was really tasty and balanced. We were asked too many times if we wanted to order food, and then basically ignored after we made it clear that we were just going to get drinks. The owner came by and asked if we had any questions about the food. The menu made it pretty clear that I wasn't ordering a dern thing. Our drinks were empty and no one came to check on us. I put $20 on the table and went to the bathroom. When I returned, no one had stopped by the table. My friend took her wallet out. Server literally walked past us and checked in on another table (they had ordered food). My friend had to flag him down to get his attention. And the owner was present. So, we're assuming this was the base level of service. To be honest, if I'm going to drop money like that on food, I'd prefer if my server's pants weren't sagging. Will I return for desserts? Extremely bad experience. I made a reservation for 12 people over 10 days in advance for my sister's birthday and personally confirmed it with the owner Bri. After multiple unanswered calls all week with no response, I called the night before only to be told they canceled our reservation because they were overbooked. If you haven't had Ox, don't get weirded out. It looks and tastes like pot roast. It was very much like a pulled pork sandwich. My friend to the right got the duck Pho, which she loved. The friend across from me got the sausage fried rice and after tasting everything, that is what I should have gotten because it was the perfect amount of spicy - and I love spicy! The cocktails are super fancy but a bit spendy (probably not for NW Portland though) so I just got a glass of bubbles (for $13, I think). I prefer to spend my money on food than drink. That all said, go in and get one of their gorgeous and delicious desserts - if you aren't hungry for a whole meal. Their desserts are like art work! Super excited to try the new restaurant, I'm a big fan of the bakery. The inside is beautiful and very pink. We went on a Sunday for dinner and it was pretty empty inside. Our server was very friendly, however, I definitely think there are some kinks to work out still. I ordered the bread and the albacore tartare, which I figured would come out first but our first item out was the duck ramen, which was surprising. We then got 4 more dishes out which made it so we couldn't fit our food on the table. I ordered the exotic sashimi platter bc I love uni. When the dish came, there was no uni on it, the waiter went to go ask the kitchen when I pointed it out and apparently they were out, which would have been good to know before I ordered. The final issue I had was that the duck ramen was too salty. When the waiter told the chef, apparently they said they were aware of the moment when they accidentally salted it twice and they said the chef tried it and said it was too salty. So I'm confused why they served it like that. After telling us that, they still didn't take it off our check until I said something. Those comments aside, the remainder of our food was delicious. The A5 was incredible, the food was plated beautifully, the bread was flavorful and soft, and the fish we got was very fresh and delicious. We got some desserts to go, which are always a hit. We asked if this location will be dog friendly and the waiter told us they are still going back and forth on it for inside, but dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area. We will definitely be returning again, may just give it a couple weeks to work out the kinks. Still a big Champagne Poetry fan, we were at the grand opening of the bakery and we are happy to keep supporting the restaurant as well. Great food and fun, cute seating. We were excited to try Champagne Poetry, but unfortunately, the experience fell FAR below expectations--especially considering the high price point. Upon arrival for our 7:30 reservation, we were told the restaurant had been overbooked due to an issue with their booking system and we would need to wait. Once seated, we were informed the bartender was running behind, so in an effort to avoid a long delay, we ordered a bottle of champagne. Unfortunately, the champagne didn't arrive until after we had finished our meal. The food itself was underwhelming, at one point we wondered if it was from Trader Joe's freezer section. My friend ordered the spring rolls, which were so inedible they had to be sent back twice-the waitress asked what was wrong as she removed them, and yet she still charged us for them. Our server also delivered the wrong drink, and instead of removing it discreetly, two staff members stood in the dining room and drank it together, which felt wildly unprofessional. Perhaps the most bizarre moment of the night was when a waitress serving the "Pepe" pasta went from table to table, feeding multiple guests directly into their mouths with the serving tongs--which, beyond being unsanitary, was off-putting to witness and left us questioning the rest of their sanitary practices. To top things off, a mandatory 20% gratuity was added for our party of five (apparently, this is standard for any party of 4 or more). Based on the service and overall experience, we absolutely would not have left that amount voluntarily. Sadly, this was a big letdown and we won't be returning. There are far better options in Portland for the price, quality, and professionalism you'd expect from a place like this. read more
