I LOVE bamboo! My wife brought me here for the first time on a business trip and she's been here a bunch and loves it but I had my doubts. Everything was fresh and delicious. Alannah the server made our experience ten times better. She gave offered fresh wasabi which I've never tried and was great. I have some allergies and she told me everything that I can't eat and also gave me the best rundown of all the nigiri so I knew exactly what I was eating. What a great find while in town! This place is inside the University Village with all sorts of shops surrounding the restaurant. We walked in and were seated pretty quickly without a reservation. Disappointing. Front of the house did a good job finding us a table on a busy night (we were walk-ins). And prop to the server for asking about food allergies right off the bat. Having said that, the table we were seated at was in almost total darkness. Could barely read the menu. Service and food quality was spotty. Server wasn't quite sure what was 86'd yet, and had to double-check with the kitchen, they still were out just as she said they weren't. And the server bailed before even half our food was served (presumably to take a break) and a different server appeared and seemed a little out of sorts as well. The scallops for my scallop nigiri were gritty and unpleasant. It's hard to even notice the yuzu vinaigrette when you're crunching on sand. The person in our party who ordered the wagyu burger reported it was way overcooked, nowhere near the medium rare requested. $20 is a lot to pay for a burger and not get the temp right. And some people just can't or dislike aioli/mayo, hence the request to omit the aioli. However, no alternative condiments were initally offered. We had to ask. The server shouldn't have to cobble together random sauces from the kitchen. And you shouldn't make a customer feel like a freak for asking for ketchup (no disrespect to the chef, but if ketchup is deemed an insult, then have something figured out ahead of time. This can't be the first time this has happened.) Although it was clear all of us at the table were ordering for ourselves and not to share, the food hit the table at completely separate times. We had to watch one person eat at a time until the last person got their food or let it all get cold. At around $136 after tax and tip for three people. This was not a good experience. As a former line cook and middle manager in F&B I know how hard it is to be in this business, but too many misses, and not really any hits for me to try this place again. This Bamboo has always been a lower quality "bamboo" location (comparing to the Oregon locations). The rolls taste different than the ones in Oregon. I always order the green machine, occasionally a sunset roll. One thing to note is they are stingy with their green machine green aioli sauce, so ask for more. But today confirmed that this location honestly should not be considered a bamboo sushi location. I ordered a green machine and sunset (to go). I opened the green machine and found a hair mushed into the roll (nooooo) this location was bearable and now I don't think I can return:( anyways I wasn't going to let a $16 roll go to waste!! Also the one in Oregon is $14!! Crazy $2 cheaper and better. The sunset was fine but the quality of their fish is not it. Unfortunately, the quality of this location was going down with each time I would come here but today it went all the way down. So sad because I want them to be so good, and they have so much to live up to compared to the Oregon locations. read more

We ordered to go sushi from Bamboo. Surprised at the very low effort given the $50 bill for 3 rolls. Extremely underwhelmed. Bamboo also is known for no substitutions. I tried them before in Portland. People rave about their sushi. Do love that they focus on sustainable seafood. My daughter insisted I need to give them another try and this visit reinforced what I don't like about Bamboo. Very expensive and just meh rolls. Giving 3 stars because they are earth conscious and fish was fresh. They didn't even give us chopsticks nor ginger or wasabi. Rolls were plopped in the cardboard boxes on top of a thin plastic sheet. We are moving my daughter out of her apartment and we had to unpack chopsticks so we could eat. Certainly not worth the cost. read more

We just had nigiri and some rolls, but they add a little flair to the nigiri by adding pieces of dried ginger, etc to them which enhanced their flavors and made the meal unique. Use to frequent here a lot when I attended/lived near the UW area. You would think it's gentrified sushi, but honestly it's really yummy. The location is at Uville so parking is super convenient. The inside is modern and fancy. It's pleasing to the eye. If you have a wait time, it's nice that you're surrounded by shops so you won't be bored. The best thing on the menu imo is the green machine. Something about that green sauce is addicting. I purely go back for that roll and only that roll alone. Everything else is good. You can't go wrong with their signature roll. I will say their rolls are cleaner tasting compared to cheap sushi places (but sometimes you just crave that nostalgic flavor). As someone who only ordered vegetarian dishes, this place was delicious! And a wonderful experience overall. I came in for lunch and was very happy I did. What I ordered: *Cucumber Sunomono Salad - sweet, fresh, on the small side portion wise *Tempura Cauliflower - menu said it's spicy, I didn't find it to be (and I'm sensitive to spicy foods). Good portion size. Had leftovers. *Green Machine Roll - this was SO good! Had a nice crunch and was fresh. The sauce was really a nice touch. I sat at the bar and had wonderful service. Gluten free girlies unite! I absolutely love this place and am already looking forward to coming back. I would say MOST things on the menu are gluten free, and it's super clearly labeled. Even their soy sauce on the tables are gluten free! I feel like 90% or more of the menu was safe to eat, which just made me so happy. The vibes in here are really cool too- it feels like a very high end sushi bar without the price. Warm and inviting natural light with modern art and pieces. Absolutely gorgeous. My friend and I shared the Cesar salad and it was amazing! Totally unique as far as Cesar's go and so we'll done. We loved the wonton crouton! I also got the sunset roll which was divine. My fav spot and favourite sushi in Seattle. I love that 98% of the menu is gluten free. Not only it's gluten free it tastes amazing. And the service is amazing as the food. I don't think I ever waited more than 5 min. They are so pleasant and super sweet from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. I usually choose one roll and then ask the waitress to surprise me with another order. None of them have failed me or disappointed me. I will be back for sure soon. I had the california roll and chirashi bowl. I enjoyed the seasoning on the crab in the california roll, and the chirashi bowl was pleasant to look at and eat. The restaurant feels like a splurge, but on par with most sushi restaurants in Seattle; the CA roll, chirashi bowl, and glass of wine with tip cost about $70. My family's absolute favorite sushi restaurant ever! All of their sushi is delicious! We love to order Edamame and their Miso Caesar salad to start. Then we tend to always order a couple Salmon cucumber avocado rolls, a couple special rolls and a couple of our favorites - their Spicy Salmon Crispy rice (absolutely a MUST)! Their tuna poke is great and loved their Chirashi bowl and hand rolls. Almost all of our family members choose to go here for our birthdays. For a sustainably-focused restaurant, not only should this have been automatic, they should have also detailed where the fish came from and why it's sustainable. We had dinner reservations at another restaurant but wanted to get a drink and a roll here before we went. Within minutes of sitting down we cancelled our reservation so we could have dinner here. We ordered the oysters and the setto curated board. It was so.darn. good. The kings salmon sashimi melted in my mouth like butter. The green machine roll was a surprise hit. I was skeptical about a vegetarian roll but next to the kings salmon, it was our favorite. Our server was super helpful and so nice.
