Server was super nice! The quality of the fish was top notch. I loved the atmosphere was not loud or crowded at all. I would recommend everything I had expect the Island Hopper simply because I thought that the mango and yuzu were a super powerful combination making me not really taste anything else besides those two flavors. My party agreed, but it was not bad at all. My favorite was the rivers and streams it was super unique and beautifully displayed with elaborate toppings. It was not spicy as well making it easy and comfortable for the entire table. Excellent place!!

We came here on a rainy weekend afternoon. We were quickly sat. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and attentive. The rolls were delicious. Everything comes out as it's ready so it's best to order as a group. The miso soup and hot green tea were perfect for a chilly, rainy day.

I come here all the time, it is so good! It is definitely on the pricier end but as someone who is gluten free and vegetarian finding tasty options when eating out can be challenging. All the tempura is GF!!! So yummy! The service is quick and friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Love this place!

Solid and I would come back. To be transparent, I've only gotten takeout from here a few times and have been here once for a Yelp Elite event, so I've never dined in here before. But, for the few times I placed an order and came to pick it up, the place was PACKED - like to the point of somewhat chaotic lol. The quality of the food items were pretty decent - notable ones that I've tried out are their salmon rolls, green machine rolls, nigiri scallop, and chicken karaage. With the salmon rolls and nigiri scallop, the quality of the seafood is fairly fresh. The green machine roll represents a creative take of trying to be 'healthy' with the tempura green bean and avocado ingredients. As for the karaage, it was a decently sized portion, and comes with a wedge of lemon and some tartar/mayo-like sauce. This particular location in U Village is VERY convenient. If you are waiting for a table, you can always go shop for yoga pants at Lululemon nearby or grab a quick drink at Ba Bar. So what's keeping me from giving this a place 5 stars? The prices are steep. I feel my Resy credit through my Amex Platinum credit card is the saving grace that keeps me coming back. Also, their happy hour hours are Mon-Fri 3pm-5pm, which ends way too early. If HH went until 6pm or 6:30pm, I could make it after work (but no way with 5pm).

Great service and great food. We had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes which wasnt bad at all. I have tried a handful of different sushi/rolls from here and they are all fine. You just have to find what you like. Great vibes, really clean and modern. I would go again if i were in the area was craving sushi

Okay I love the green machine with salmon, the spicy edamame, and the crispy tofu!! One truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here - I love it so much. Everything is reasonably priced for Seattle sushi in my opinion. The service is always quick and friendly with strong recs from the waiters. I appreciated being seated quickly with the food arriving as it was prepared. Vibes were great as always.

Bamboo sushi has a clean, modern and comfortable atmosphere. Service was good and with a reservation even though it was busy we were seated right on time. The food is wonderful. We ordered the Setto for 2-4. It filled us up and had food left. Depending on how hungry you are, I'd recommend 3 for this set. The nigiri and sashimi were highlights, both so fresh and clean. The salmon was buttery and we didn't need soy sauce to enjoy it. I loved the veg role "green machine" the sauce they use was amazing. I'm not a huge tuna fan, but the tuna on the roles we tried was good. I will definitely come back and just order the nigiri, sashimi and green machine!

Everything here, the food and ambience, just feels very clean and refreshing. The sushi is fresh, tastes delicious, and is traditional with a simple and modern spin. Friendly and attentive service, too! We got the Bamboo Dragon roll and the Friday the 13th roll, which was our favorite!! So much flavor in that little bite..and the tempura crunchies give it such a fun texture, it accentuates the flavors! We also got this aguachile dish that was so yummy!!! It had the perfect savory and citrus mix of flavors that was just refreshing. The karaage was also good; crunchy and juicy inside, seasoned well with a yummy dip! We would definitely come here again and try out more of their menu!

Came in on Friday for lunch and was seated right away. From the start, both the host and server were incredibly hospitable and friendly. The ambiance is nice- a chill yet upscale vibe that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Service was absolutely 10/10! Our shrimp tempura hand rolls took a bit longer than expected, but when the host checked in, he explained they had been prepared incorrectly and kindly gave us those rolls on the house. Little gestures like that really go a long way. Here's what we ordered: * 2 shrimp tempura hand rolls * 2 spicy tuna crispy rice * 1 citrus salmon crispy rice * 2 calamari (honestly, some of the best I've had in a long time!! recommend to get your own, you will not want to share lol) * 1 tuna poke * 1 order seared salmon nigiri This was the best sushi we've had in a while and definitely satisfied our craving. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is cuz I'm used to seeing a bit more fish on top of the crispy rice; it felt a little small. But overall, I'm very happy with the experience and will definitely be coming back!

Their newest location in the University Village Shopping Center near Seattle's U District marks an exciting milestone for the brand, expanding beyond its Portland roots and signaling its growing presence on the national dining scene, especially with additional restaurants in the Seattle metropolitan area already planned. The ethos behind this sustainable sushi restaurant, showcasing seafood sourced from eco-friendly fisheries, is a welcome and perhaps to some, a necessary trend. In addition to offering beautifully handcrafted and exceptionally fresh sushi, Bamboo Sushi continues the conversation about reducing environmental impact in the restaurant industry, proving that sustainability and top-tier quality can actually go hand in hand. What brought me here was the fact that I had a local hotel room, and I had a serious craving for sushi, and what better place to satiate that craving than visit their pleasant newest location. Upon entry I asked to sit at their sushi bar, as the time I arrived they were not too filled with customers. Ty, who served as my server was gracious enough to lead me through their most popular items from their menu. The menu at Bamboo Sushi is separated into categories including Starters, Tempura, Crispy Rice, Signature Sashimi, Oysters, Nigiri, Sashimi, Signature Rolls, Chef's Specials, The Classics, Curated Experiences, Not Sushi, Dessert, and their Beverage menu. They also a seasonal special menu that had a number of intriguing items. I always like to sample the Nigiri whenever I order Japanese cuisine, and at Bamboo Sushi, I ordered their two piece Amberjack which was lightly topped with Yuzu and Black Truffle Salt. With an emphasis in Kanpachi, the Nigiri at Bamboo Sushi represented a taste wonderfully harmonious between marbled and a traditionally fishy taste, and was the perfect bite to start my lunchtime meal. Since I was so famished, I ordered two rolls from the Signature Rolls section of their menu, including their Full Circle, which was a combination of spicy albacore, tempura fried green onion, seared tuna, watercress and topped with crispy onions and citrus ginger dressing; and I ordered The Unicorn, which was a combination of spicy crab, shrimp tempura, albacore, avocado, and served on a bed of jalapeño dressing and gochugaru oil and topped with micro cilantro. Of the two Signature Rolls, The Unicorn was the better of the two thanks to the abundance of jalapeño dressing and gochugaru oil which also helped to provide an nice spicy kick and extra flavor. My total bill was $57.38 which for two rolls and two pieces of Nigiri was on the pricier side, but with the quality sushi being offered at Bamboo Sushi, it is well worth the higher price point. I cannot wait to come back and try more of their uniquely crafted rolls from their Friday the 13th to their Garden of Eden, as at Bamboo Sushi they are thinking of both their loyal clientele and the future of the planet by crafting forward-thinking sushi creations, and for this reason, they have a new fan in me!

4 stars for food/value, 5 stars for service I went here for Monday dinner and got seated immediately without needing to make a reservation. While I intended to dine in, something last minute came up and the waitress was willing to accommodate me to make the entire order takeout. I got the Green Machine and Spicy Albacore rolls. Food came out decently fast and packaged nicely, and any requests were fulfilled quickly. The Green Machine I opted to not add anything to savor the true flavors of the roll (though most people would add salmon if they want to enhance the roll). It was really delicious with the tempura fried green bean and the cilantro sweet chili aioli, which were the dominant flavors, but the avocado and green onion flavors were present too. The spicy albacore was decent - has a bit stronger fishy flavor than expected, but still pretty fresh. The rolls were okay priced. Granted, I got the less expensive rolls that delivered, $15 for the vegetarian Green Machine is okay but the other seafood based rolls are $20 before tax and tip for presumably similar portions can be quite steep, since I'd need about 2 rolls to be adequately full. Service is excellent - while waiting for the order, I was served water and the waitress asked if I wanted something else to drink but I was good. When I went to pay, they were able to accommodate using 2 cards as I wanted to use respective cards for the monthly Resy credit, even though I was a solo diner, so I really appreciated that!

A high recommend is the regional sockeye salmon, very red and fresh. All of the nigiri were thickly slicked, well accounted for by the price. What a great find while in town! This place is inside the University Village with all sorts of shops surrounding the restaurant. We walked in and were seated pretty quickly without a reservation. Disappointing. Front of the house did a good job finding us a table on a busy night (we were walk-ins). And prop to the server for asking about food allergies right off the bat. Having said that, the table we were seated at was in almost total darkness. Could barely read the menu. Service and food quality was spotty. Server wasn't quite sure what was 86'd yet, and had to double-check with the kitchen, they still were out just as she said they weren't. And the server bailed before even half our food was served (presumably to take a break) and a different server appeared and seemed a little out of sorts as well. The scallops for my scallop nigiri were gritty and unpleasant. It's hard to even notice the yuzu vinaigrette when you're crunching on sand. The person in our party who ordered the wagyu burger reported it was way overcooked, nowhere near the medium rare requested. $20 is a lot to pay for a burger and not get the temp right. And some people just can't or dislike aioli/mayo, hence the request to omit the aioli. However, no alternative condiments were initally offered. We had to ask. The server shouldn't have to cobble together random sauces from the kitchen. And you shouldn't make a customer feel like a freak for asking for ketchup (no disrespect to the chef, but if ketchup is deemed an insult, then have something figured out ahead of time. This can't be the first time this has happened.) Although it was clear all of us at the table were ordering for ourselves and not to share, the food hit the table at completely separate times. We had to watch one person eat at a time until the last person got their food or let it all get cold. At around $136 after tax and tip for three people. This was not a good experience. As a former line cook and middle manager in F&B I know how hard it is to be in this business, but too many misses, and not really any hits for me to try this place again. This Bamboo has always been a lower quality "bamboo" location (comparing to the Oregon locations). The rolls taste different than the ones in Oregon. I always order the green machine, occasionally a sunset roll. One thing to note is they are stingy with their green machine green aioli sauce, so ask for more. But today confirmed that this location honestly should not be considered a bamboo sushi location. I ordered a green machine and sunset (to go). I opened the green machine and found a hair mushed into the roll (nooooo) this location was bearable and now I don't think I can return:( anyways I wasn't going to let a $16 roll go to waste!! Also the one in Oregon is $14!! Crazy $2 cheaper and better. The sunset was fine but the quality of their fish is not it. Unfortunately, the quality of this location was going down with each time I would come here but today it went all the way down. So sad because I want them to be so good, and they have so much to live up to compared to the Oregon locations. read more

We ordered to go sushi from Bamboo. Surprised at the very low effort given the $50 bill for 3 rolls. Extremely underwhelmed. Bamboo also is known for no substitutions. I tried them before in Portland. People rave about their sushi. Do love that they focus on sustainable seafood. My daughter insisted I need to give them another try and this visit reinforced what I don't like about Bamboo. Very expensive and just meh rolls. Giving 3 stars because they are earth conscious and fish was fresh. They didn't even give us chopsticks nor ginger or wasabi. Rolls were plopped in the cardboard boxes on top of a thin plastic sheet. We are moving my daughter out of her apartment and we had to unpack chopsticks so we could eat. Certainly not worth the cost. read more

My second time eating here. My server, Elisabeth, was on top of everything and had great recommendations and knowledge. Their spicy tuna is a mix of real and imitation but you can upgrade to all real. Fresh wasabi was grated table side. Very nice touch. Awesome sushi place. Service was great, ton of windows offer a great place to people watch and the food was really good!! We just had nigiri and some rolls, but they add a little flair to the nigiri by adding pieces of dried ginger, etc to them which enhanced their flavors and made the meal unique. This place is definitely on the top of my sushi go to list! Give them a whirl I think you will be happy! read more

Wow wow wow WOW wOw WoW WOOOOOOW. WOW! wow. THIS SUSHI Y'ALL. I was not prepared! It is so, so, fresh, so succulent, so so so SO good. I ordered take-away for the first time yesterday but will definitely be back in the future. I was very impressed with the service, presentation, and quality of the sushi. The Nigiri King Salmon, served yakumi, with orange, olive oil, lemon zest, sea salt, was especially delicious. Like butah in my mouth, holy salmon batman! it was so smooth; I didn't know sushi could taste like that. I only wish they offered temaki as well! Free and easy, plentiful parking. Surrounded by lots of cute sweet shops and shopping. 10/10 highly recommend this location. read more

Use to frequent here a lot when I attended/lived near the UW area. You would think it's gentrified sushi, but honestly it's really yummy. The location is at Uville so parking is super convenient. The inside is modern and fancy. It's pleasing to the eye. If you have a wait time, it's nice that you're surrounded by shops so you won't be bored. The best thing on the menu imo is the green machine. Something about that green sauce is addicting. I purely go back for that roll and only that roll alone. Everything else is good. You can't go wrong with their signature roll. I will say their rolls are cleaner tasting compared to cheap sushi places (but sometimes you just crave that nostalgic flavor). I believe their fish is sustainably caught. Their cocktails are good too. It's a great place to have a date night or friends hangout! read more

Get the Green Machine Roll with King Salmon! The Miso Black Cod was also fantastic and very flavorful. Their Hamachi, Kanpachi, Tuna, and King Salmon Nigiri were really wonderful. As someone who only ordered vegetarian dishes, this place was delicious! And a wonderful experience overall. I came in for lunch and was very happy I did. What I ordered: *Cucumber Sunomono Salad - sweet, fresh, on the small side portion wise *Tempura Cauliflower - menu said it's spicy, I didn't find it to be (and I'm sensitive to spicy foods). Good portion size. Had leftovers. *Green Machine Roll - this was SO good! Had a nice crunch and was fresh. The sauce was really a nice touch. I sat at the bar and had wonderful service. Gluten free girlies unite! I absolutely love this place and am already looking forward to coming back. I would say MOST things on the menu are gluten free, and it's super clearly labeled. Even their soy sauce on the tables are gluten free! I feel like 90% or more of the menu was safe to eat, which just made me so happy. The vibes in here are really cool too- it feels like a very high end sushi bar without the price. Warm and inviting natural light with modern art and pieces. Absolutely gorgeous. My fav spot and favourite sushi in Seattle. I love that 98% of the menu is gluten free. Not only it's gluten free it tastes amazing. And the service is amazing as the food. I don't think I ever waited more than 5 min. They are so pleasant and super sweet from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. I usually choose one roll and then ask the waitress to surprise me with another order. None of them have failed me or disappointed me. I will be back for sure soon. My family's absolute favorite sushi restaurant ever! All of their sushi is delicious! We love to order Edamame and their Miso Caesar salad to start. Then we tend to always order a couple Salmon cucumber avocado rolls, a couple special rolls and a couple of our favorites - their Spicy Salmon Crispy rice (absolutely a MUST)! Their tuna poke is great and loved their Chirashi bowl and hand rolls. Almost all of our family members choose to go here for our birthdays. You check out the other patrons from behind your sunglasses on the patio of the sushi restaurant: a casually dressed couple with the man in basketball shorts and the woman in a tennis dress, a table of three that appear to be coworkers catching up after some time apart, and you in a sundress and jean jacket, the perfect outfit for shopping on a mission. Love the concept of sustainable sushi, but wish the prices were more accessible. For lunch, they should at least offer lunch specials! There's a happy hour menu, but it's not very extensive, and they have a drink special everyday. Had to ask the server to explain what each fish in the $37 chirashi bowl was. For a sustainably-focused restaurant, not only should this have been automatic, they should have also detailed where the fish came from and why it's sustainable. We ordered the oysters and the setto curated board. It was so.darn. good. The kings salmon sashimi melted in my mouth like butter. The green machine roll was a surprise hit. My gf also can't have shellfish, dairy, or eggs, and the staff was super knowledgeable about the menu and we weren't worried about it at all. Additionally...the food itself was BOMB?! I frequently dine at bamboo sushi. Bamboo sushi served pretty much exclusively gluten free food. As someone who is gluten free this is a top place to eat out for me. The fish always tastes fresh. I typically have a reservation when I go since the restaurant can be quite busy. I have always had good service. The restaurant is located in U Village and can be confusing to navigate to. Bamboo sushi will always have a place in my heart! They have quite a few locations in the PDX area and expanding up here in Seattle. The sustainable products that they put on their menu, showcase how much they care about the environment and their customers. We always love to do an omakase, great way to sample their nigiri, sashimi and signature rolls. Fish is always fresh, rolls are always dynamite! If not daring enough for the omakase, highly recommend the crispy rice with tuna and the green machine roll add salmon. They really need to bottle that green machine sauce and sell it separately ~ it's next level! read more

Part of the joy of a course menu, if you want slightly warm / room temperature rice against the cool fish, but you get zero of that contrast here.

As avid sushi goers, we were skeptical so we only tried two inari pieces: a mix of salmon/tuna and a separate spicy salmon. Needless to say, don't go here if you know your sushi. It is only worth it if you are really hungry and want something quick. This is cheap sushi and cheap fish. Not quality. For two pieces, I paid $8. Devastating.

They don't take phone calls or reservations online - very old school. Which I think makes it more desirable. We ended up getting a special room with a "chabudai" style table! I was super excited because I've never experienced it before. What I did find pleasant was that although it was a lower table, there was an opening beneath the table that allowed your legs to hang rather than having to sit Indian style. Tyson was an amazing server. Was attentive, accommodated our allergies and was thoughtful with us having a young child. He was so pleasant and polite! We enjoyed the following: Baked miso glazed eggplant - YUM and melts in your mouth. Black Miso Cod Collar - this was pleasantly surprising and so delicious. Eat bite was tender and flavorful. Simple yet so appetizing. Sushi rolls were both fresh and well prepared. The nigiri was also great and fresh- not fishy. We additionally ordered takoyaki - which I normally don't love but this one was very tasty and I enjoyed the texture. Lastly karage chicken which came with a creamy slaw. Overall it was such a pleasant experience and we look forward to coming back!

TLDR: welcoming staff, great food, fresh, come if you've never eaten here before! I've had nothing but great, welcoming experiences every time I've dined in at Bamboo! I highly recommend for a date night :) The hostess with the black and blonde hair (we forget her name!) had the best energy and was very enthusiastic! We jokingly asked her if she could be our server for the night and she laughed and smiled and she said she was unfortunately just the hostess but we were assured we were going to be taken care of by our server. Our server was a young lady and she was very attentive and came at the perfect moments. We ordered the green machine, some tempura, the sunset as well as a selection of some nigiri. the fish was fresh and worth it for the price. TIP: get it yakumi style instead of neat! I'm still dreaming about that green machine!! The sunset was a bit questionable only because of the crab part. Our server informed us that the crab they use in the California rolls is just fresh? Not sure what that means but it still tastes okay. Next time when we come in we're gonna have to sit at the sushi bar. We were told they recently opened it up and we're very excited! The only con I'd say is that the restaurant is a little chilly but it's only because the doors that lead to the outside patio (yes, there's an outdoor portion of this restaurant!) are constantly opening. We'll definitely also have to come back for the patio but we'll be prepared to dress warm since there are no heaters outside. read more

Bamboo Sushi is a super cute spot tucked into an outdoor mall, and it was buzzing when we went -- clearly a local favorite. Despite how busy it was, service was quick, friendly, and super efficient, which made for a great start to the meal. We tried a variety of dishes and there were definitely some standouts. The Green Machine roll (vegetarian) was incredible -- creamy avocado, crisp cucumber, and a melt-in-your-mouth texture that was seriously satisfying. Pro tip: dip it in spicy mayo for the perfect bite. The Dragon roll was the star for me -- made with shrimp tempura, crab, and salmon, it was rich, flavorful, and just all-around delicious. Easily my favorite roll of the night. The garlic fried rice, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. It looked great but didn't have much seasoning, so we ended up adding a lot of soy sauce and chili oil to bring it to life. The veggies were nice, but overall it didn't live up to the rest of the meal. The fried cauliflower totally made up for it -- crispy, tangy, spicy, and packed with flavor. It was a perfect little appetizer and I'd order it again in a heartbeat. The shishito peppers were fun too -- each one was a gamble, with some being super spicy and others mild. They were well-seasoned and made for a great side and a great game. All in all, Bamboo Sushi is a great spot for fresh, creative sushi and bites in a lively, welcoming space. Tuna poke bowl was more like a Tuna joke bowl. 3 pieces of tuna completely tasteless and tiny cheap fish flakes on each item we ordered. Granted carpaccio is a dish we did not expect to be on the big portion size. However, It was the tail end of an albacore, sliced thinly into 5 pieces! WHAT!?!?! You would not be able to feed your beta fish with these portion sizes. We also tried the House on Fire Mackerel. Let me just say, as a mackerel aficionado, it was the tail end split into 3 pieces sitting on top of a bamboo basket with some steam. I was told to get ready for an experience. I like Bamboo sushi for their angle of sustainability and quality ingredients, but I think there are some kinks to work out with their preparation and service. We ordered spicy tuna and salmon, unicorn roll, and the big island roll. All of them were pretty good, but I wouldn't say I can exactly taste a difference in the quality between here and other sushi restaurants, but Bamboo is definitely on the more expensive side so I'm not really convinced of the value compared to other restaurants. One issue we had with the restaurant overall was that they were out of several of the specific fish listed on the menu, but we were only told about that verbally when it was time to order making it harder to get it straight what we wanted. It's totally understandable that a restaurant trying to minimize food waste won't always have the full variety of everything available, but there has to be a better system for telling the customer what is and isn't available at the time. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bamboo, and it was an absolute delight especially after a day of shopping in UVillage! My favorite dishes were the crispy rice with spicy salmon and the Airbender cocktail. The crispy rice was cooked to perfection, and the spicy salmon on top had just the right amount of heat, making it a perfect bite every time. It was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was impressive as well. The Airbender cocktail was refreshing and had a unique blend of flavors that complemented the sushi dishes perfectly. I especially appreciated how the drink was not too sweet, making it a great palate cleanser between bites. So damn good! Everything we tried was amazing! Myself and my friend are both gluten free (she is Celiac) and we were so excited when Bamboo reopened and were about to go for the first time. Basically everything on their menu is gluten free! We had the Green Machine, Sunset, and the Full Circle rolls. We also had shrimp tempura, a crispy rice, and amaebi. Every single item was incredible! It was hard not to order everything on the menu. Our server Nunu, as well as her coworkers Ro and Angie were so friendly and helpful. The burger impressed me more than the sushi we ordered. I received a delightful fried egg with the burger, and I'm considering trying it with an over-easy egg next time, if possible. The accompanying onion rings and dressing were delicious, and I enjoyed dipping each burger bite into the sauce. As for the sushi, while the individual ingredients were excellent, they didn't seem to harmonize well with each other, resulting in a somewhat mediocre experience. I'm giving this place two stars because the food was actually really good but the service was so terrible. The server, Kayla, was very nice and friendly but she rarely checked in on us. I understand it was busy but we had to wave her down a few times. We would see her conversate with the other coworkers which is fine but hearing her personal inappropriate conversations was very offputting.... very uncomfortable hearing the workers flirting with each other. Not only is the food incredible, the restaurant is also a certified B-Corp (which means they've passed extensive sustainability and ethical standards) so coming here is always a no-brainer for me. The nigiri was haphazardly assembled, with some pieces still containing the skin that binds the meat, making it chewier than desired. The roll, too, was poorly constructed and drowned in sauce. No wait when we walked in, we ordered the Friday the 13th and the Full Circle rolls, both were properly spicy and flavorful. Some of the best miso soup we've had in a good while, and the tempura vegetables were a lovely variety of broccoli, sweet potatoes, and zucchini.
