It was my first time at this location, so I was excited to try a bunch of their dishes. We started with Thai spring rolls and the Malay chicken skewers, then shared a mix of mains: Chicken Phad Thai, Sichuan green beans, seven‑flavor beef, green curry chicken, northern‑style pork, and Thai passion tofu. We also tried a couple of their signature drinks--the Wild Ginger Daiquiri and the Lychee Mojito. For dessert, we wrapped things up with coconut sago. Everything was packed with flavor, but my personal favorites were the seven‑flavor beef, the green beans, and the Chicken Phad Thai. And if you like fruity cocktails, the Wild Ginger Daiquiri is a winner--the mango purée and lime juice pair perfectly with the Thai dishes. We started with Thai mushroom satay and Thai Spring Rolls. We loved the Thai mushroom satay, Thai Spring Rolls were good. We got Ginger Martini, and Minus mango margarita, loved the mango margarita, the ginger martini was good. We then got Chicken Pad Thai, Green curry chicken, and Kung Pao chicken. I came here for dinner with some friends, who had previously really enjoyed Wild Ginger. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, including the northern pork, the 7 spice beef, the pad thai, the crispy shrimp, and the bok choy. The latter was kind of flavorless and bland even though the description indicated it would have a ginger flavor. I also got the lychee mojito which was tasty but seemed to have no alcohol! I did find the northern pork a bit too oddly spiced, but the other dishes were pretty good. There was nothing really outstanding in the mix of what we ordered. There was a bit of a snafu when we got there, and it took them about 15 minutes to take our order. In the meantime, we weren't even served water. Our waiter, David, seemed a bit ambivalent to our plight at first, but then at a the end of the meal, he brought us free ice cream. We each ordered a small glass of wine, which I thought was enough and glad I didn't get a larger pour. For dinner, we had the assam prawns and sayur lodeh. Both were very good, but the sayur lodeh takes the cake! The prawns had a very distinct smell that I didn't like. Overall good experience and easy place to go for dinner before or after a show. The Pad Thai is very tasty, but value-wise, I think it was a little bit pricy for a serving of pad thai ($27 after tax and tip). Even in DC where food is super pricy, I've never had pad thai over $20. I think I would agree with some of the other yelpers that this is just a little bit over-priced. It just depends on what you value, if you value the ambiance, then it's probably not overpriced. This is one of those restaurants I wish I could give a half star rating. This is truly a 3.5 star restaurant in my opinion. Service is good, food is generally solid and safe, and the venue is nice. I would not personally come here on my own but would not mind at all for business lunch or dinner. I must have tried this restaurant about 10 times now over many years and I have to say that the quality of food remained the same before and after the pandemic. This is very impressive since many restaurants have failed to maintain their food quality. What I mean by the food being safe is that there is literally something for everyone here. Not the most authentic Asian food but that is not my expectation when visiting this venue. The main reason I wouldn't come here on my own is that the dishes are just too expensive. My favorite dishes here are the Duck and Seven Flavored beef. Egg rolls were above average (super crispy!) and the curry was surprisingly packing some heat Dessert (gelato)... you can just skip. I don't know why I even ordered it. Seven Flavored beef here is the most competitive dish imo. Great flavors and the meat they use is high quality. It was pretty busy on a Thursday evening and I was surprised to find out that they close so early! (9pm). Recommended for big groups and business meals. Last night was the second time I stopped by Wild Ginger in the last month or so. And just like the first, it was incredible. We were in a tight spot this time because we had a curtain at 5th Avenue, and even though they were incredibly busy they were still able to make it work, and we made it right on time. One of my favorite things about this place is the "shared plate" dynamic they have. I love ordering a couple dishes and essentially sharing them with the table, so everyone gets to try some. This normally doesn't work, but the way the food is presented it's almost expected to be done this way. Everything I've had so far on the menu has been stellar, from the mongolian noodles and Szechuan beans to the sea bass, scallop, and prawn dishes. And prices are still very reasonable, especially for a chic place in downtown Seattle. Highly recommend anyone with a theater date at 5th Avenue, Benaroya, or the Triple Door give them a shot. We were seated at a comfortable booth along the wall so that our conversations might be more private due to each of us having some hearing difficulties. The service was top notch and we were attended to by not only the waitress, but by those who brought the food and removed finished plates from the table. The staff worked in great coordination, without pressure, to make the experience both comfortable and enjoyable. The food was very tasty, some of the best I have had from Thai restaurants. I am sad that this place fell short of our expectations. The atmosphere of the restaurant was beautiful and very on theme with a Thai restaurant. Our server came out quickly and was friendly. I was dining with a coworker so we ordered a few plates we planned to split. The portions here are large. Starting off to drink we both ordered a ginger ale. There aren't free refills which is always a pet peeve of mine so after one ginger ale we both switched to water. The appetizer we ordered was their lettuce wraps that had halibut in it. The lettuce was great but the main filler was overwhelmed with onion. Not the best experience. I ended up just picking out a piece of fish and lettuce and nothing else. The mains: chicken pad Thai and a prawn dish. The prawn dish neither of us liked. The sauce on top had a strange flavor and it was so thick we couldn't just scrape it off to enjoy the shrimp. The chicken pad Thai was the star. Thankfully this saved the meal for us. We both really enjoyed it and the portion was plenty to satisfy us both since our other orders weren't great. After a while, we were seated and waiter told us kitchen was taking up to 30 minutes to prepare meals but that "if you eat fast, you should make it" to the symphony. I came to Wild Ginger from a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The location is quite perfect between the business district and the tourist area, which made it easy to find. I love the two floor concept and the large bar area. While it wasn't 100% full when I arrived, there was a steady uptick in clientele and there was a wait when I left. My bar seat was perfect as the bartender was very thoughtful bopping back and forth between guests. He told me that the seven flavor beef was one of his favorite menu items, which is perfect because that was in my eye. It definitely did not disappoint and was quite incredible. The beef was prepared well and was a great cut so it wasn't chewy or tough. The sauce had tons of flavor and was blended well so I never felt one flavor overwhelm any of the others. Be sure to get a side of rice with the dish - although it's large the rice adds the consistency that is needed. I also had the spicy Thai margarita - if you're faint on spice, avoid it. I'm not sure why the average reviews for Wild Ginger are relatively low, I was worried when I booked a work dinner for 19 people that it would not be as good as I remembered it being the last time I was here which was many years ago. Service was terrific - thank you Kelly for being the bartender, server, screen setter upper and more! Wild Ginger did not disappoint! Every dish we had was excellent, including the two appetizers. For a private event, it was a really great location, and we were able to have an open bar in a separate balcony area with our two appetizers before heading into our private room which came equipped with a screen and projector and all the cords to connect our laptop. We did not order any sound amplification which was a little bit of a problem since there was a large party in the room next door making a lot of noise, but we were able to work around it. I hadn't been to the downtown Seattle Wild Ginger in forever. It did not disappoint. I went as part of an intimate family wedding celebration, so we had the private banquet room. It was a nice size for the 11 of us. The wait staff was very prompt and kept our water glasses filled. The food came out swiftly and was overall very delicious. Our appetizer course was Spring Rolls and a beef Satay. Both were extremely delicious. The spring rolls were very hot and crisped to perfection. The sweet and sour sauce was nice and light. The beef had a delicious spice. The main meal was pretty ordered and included chinese sausage & shrimp fried rice, thai wide rice noodles, Green Curry chicken curry, and sichuan green beans. The fried rice was so good with the bits of sausage and the fried egg had a nice runny yolk that blended in very well. The wide rice noodles were a hit with everyone. The curry was probably my least favorite as it didn't have the balanced flavor of coconut, and curry that I normally like (just my palate's opinion). The sichuan green beans were almost perfectly fried and had a great flavor. We had the mandi sorbet for dessert and it was a nice and creamy delicious palate cleanser. We brought our own wine so can't speak to their wine list. My only complaint is that the waiter was not cognizant of trying to provide even pours across the 10 of us that were drinking wine. Probably cause he doesn't normally have to do that. The sad observation was that it was a Friday night and the restaurant was fairly empty. Seattle has more than its fair share of transients and so I'm sure it keeps people away. But this restaurant is worth the visit. We had a business dinner here on the recommendation of our client. This restaurant has a fairly large dining room and is very comfortable. The only nitpick I have is that the windows wrap around the corner of the building, but it has a weird location for its entrance that's not easily seen from the corner. That aside, it has a focused menu of Thai-inspired flavors that allowed our group to make a number of selections, served family style on the lazy susan mounted at the center of the table. We ordered the sea bass, kung pao chicken, green curry chicken, pad thai, a soup, and a couple of apps. The food was problematic in that there was an hammering use of the basil leaves that overshadowed nearly every single dish. The kung pao chicken was the only one that let its sweet and spicy elements shine through. The green curry was a particular disappointment with a sauce that had a gritty texture to it. The sea bass was overcooked and also completely swamped by the basil. Our soup (not sure which one) was laden with noodles and not nearly enough broth to truly enjoy the bright flavors. The service was a highlight here, with very expeditious ordering and delivery of our entrees. The kitchen seemed to be "phoning it in" unfortunately.
