Have bEen coming here for years and just grabbing bubble tea and moving on. Someone suggested actually ordering a sandwich. Let's just say I was so impressed! Besides having great flavor, it was well balanced and the bread was soft on the inside and crisp to bite into. We have been coming here since they first opened. We met the owner, she is a nice woman. I just placed an order over the phone and got this rude Vietnamese guy that gave me one word answer. Instead of thanking his customers at the end, I had to say thank you to him and he hung up abruptly without saying anything. With such a convenient location, I would've come here on the regular if I was still in the area. Bambu is a very modern twist on Vietnamese food and drinks. Their chè is amazing! I've had a few flavors before and they're all really tasty. There's a lot of options for toppings such as pandan jelly, coconut jelly, and multiple types of bean. I like that the ice is not too hard so I can mix up the ice nicely into the drink; it turns into a delicious slushy drink. There's a huge selection of both food and drinks on their menu. You can order bánh mìs, rice bowls, smoothies, bubble teas, chè, spring rolls and probably even more. Everything looks amazing and prices are pretty fair. First of all, Yelp needs to update the business hour for Monday, the store does open on Mondays. I was cheated thought it closed on Monday so was waiting patiently until Tuesday for the delicious food and wonderful drinks. Ordered summer rolls, Banh Mi fries and Grilled Shrimp rice bowl for dinner. Everything tasted great, although I wasn't super hungry, I finished the entire rice bowl before it got cold. Personally, I don't think the meat and seafood are a good combination together, so for the summer rolls, I would appreciate more if it's just shrimp or beef in the roll. For dessert, we also ordered the pandas waffles and Bambu Special. The drink is more on the sweet side for me, should ask for 75% sugar instead. The waffles are pretty good as well. Stony Brook, as well as Long Island in general, has been severely lacking in authentic Asian flavors and options. Being a California native, I was stoked to see Bambu (a CA favorite!) opened within driving distance of me. The place offers a wide range of drink options, from the standard milk tea bobas to their speciality Che drinks. My favorite is the Bambu Special, a coconut-water based drink packed with flavors and toppings. Everything always tastes fresh and refreshing. I've also tried the banh mi and pandan waffle which I've enjoyed a lot as well. The pandan waffle, in particular, comes out piping hot and crispy. Prices are higher than what you would find in the city, but I'm not complaining. Quality food and drinks that remind me of home are worth every penny. Every-time I visit Stony Brook University, I make sure to make a stop (or two) at Bambu! I love Vietnamese Chè and the different varieties that Bambu has to offer. I love this place. Who doesn't love bubble tea and Che!? I am still making my way through the menu but everything I've had has been yummy. They have sandwiches, fried chicken, free WiFi and seating. It is reasonably priced and delicious! I have never encountered anyone rude working the register so I can't comment on it. I admit. I spent a lot of time curiously gazing through the window on my way to eat Korean. I am not the biggest boba fan so my less adventurous side got the better of me and I never explored the new store on the block. However, once again Yelp came along and showed me the way. I went with the pork which featured crisp French bread that was nice and warm with fresh radish and cilantro with tender pork. Very tasty. The option of peppers added a welcome kick. I am excited to try the classic and steak varieties. I also went with a drink. I didn't get bubble tea *ducks*. But I found an amazing drink in the Taro smoothy. Not too sweet. They made it with coconut juice so it was dairy free. Just delicious. I agree with Bill S. - this place can be hard to find. It is located next to Ssam bap where the dolce vita bakery used to be. My bf and I gave this place a try today and were a bit underwhelmed. Bambu is a really cute establishment with a large selection of teas. I ended up trying the passion fruit milk tea and didn't like it. My bf had the honey dew and he enjoyed it. We also shared some fries that were just okay. The fries were very oily and somewhat spicy. Everything I've gotten here has been so good. You can't go wrong with their banh mi but if you're feeling rice over bread, they also have rice bowls which are very good. But if you're feeling neither bread nor rice, then they have vermicelli bowls to choose from as well. I like their steak banh mi and their grilled pork vermicelli bowls the best. They have an extensive list of bubble teas and other BAMBU specialty drinks, which I occasionally get. Nothing too special about their bubble tea. Prices are very affordable and you get huge portions of food for the price. I recommend coming here for a quick lunch/dinner. They do have seats but I get more of a takeout vibe from here. The first thing I want to say about this place is their customer service, which kinda sucks. My friend who has diabetes couldn't have anything with sugar, obviously. So she wanted to order a plain coffee so the guy that works there suggested the Vietnamese coffee. She wanted to add some milk to it because she doesn't like black coffee but he said he couldn't just give a bit of milk or creamer on the side with the black coffee. This place is not for diabetics just FYI. I had the Bambu favourite which was coconut milk with Penang jelly, grass jelly and red tapioca. The Penang and grass jelly tasted good but the red tapioca had a crunch to it which was unappetizing. My other friend ordered the peach Jasmine green tea with popping pearls. Was around the area for a large gathering and ordered close to 20 bubble teas!! The staff who took my order was friendly and my drinks were ready upon arrival. One of the staff even offered to carry the drinks to my car for me, given how many trips I'd have to make for them. I love this place! A few of my Stony Brook friends recommended this spot, and its known as the go-to for boba in the area. I was interested in the Che at first but didn't feel like drinking heavy coconut milk, so I opted for mango fruit tea ($5.50). It comes with real, tiny cubes of mango and a lot of basil seeds! (I get this at every visit, now). One time I asked for extra crystal boba (+$0.50), which had a different texture than regular brown sugar boba- it tasted more like harder lychee jelly with a deformed circular shape. Nonetheless, really interesting, and would get again! I've tried the chicken bang mi ($6.50) which hit the spot. The bread was toasted and they were generous with the portions of pickled carrot and radish. I thought the spicy mayo-like sauce overwhelmed the chicken, and made it taste sort of thick. But considering the location and convenience, I thought it did the job! Ive also heard the banh mi fries are good but I have yet to try them. The wifi is free, and normally on a weekend there are seats available. There's a television that plays music videos from youtube, I've found either mainstream pop or EDM. I have made numerous visits to Bambu and its location in Stonybrook is perfect because of the variety of Thai and Vietnamese dishes that focus on desserts that contain pandan jelly, red tapioca, coconut, longan and black jelly. This location also sell snacks such as banh mi, wings, french fries and bubble waffle (Hong Kong style). They also sell Thai ice tea and Vietnamese coffee. Everything we ate tasted really good which is why we always returning to get our sweet tooth fix. Prices were decent and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Small modern Vietnamese coffee shop. Been going here since they opened four years ago. Quality has been consistent, and it has stayed a favorite all these years. The dish is flavorful and you get to choose 1 of 3 homemade sauces that compliments the rice dish. Their drink menu is definitely what makes this my favorite spot. With over 20 different drinks, you have the option to get drinks with only fruits to boba tea and coffee. Experience: When you dine in, you'll hear pop songs playing from their tv. The place is clean and the workers are enthusiastic. The service is moderately fast. TLDR: one of the top Vietnamese spots to visit in the stony brook area. Bambu is one of my favorite places at Stony Brook because everything they sell is delicious. My boyfriend loves their avocado smoothie, which is super delicious. The food is really good too. I love coming here for the Bahn mi sandwiches and their puffle waffle. It's so good and they have a good variety of options to choose from. This place is also one of my favorite study spaces because it's really open, although it's somewhat small on the inside. Just be warned that if you're coming here to study that they blast music and music videos on the screen, which I like when I study but I'm sure some people would prefer background noise. One of the reasons why I couldn't give Bambu 5 stars isn't because of the food or the atmosphere. It's because of the service. The staff is incredibly nice and sweet, but the issue is that once you order it takes AT LEAST 30 minutes for your order of just a smoothie. And when there's a lot of people coming in it could take even longer. The best thing to do is call ahead and order ahead to pick it up, which is kind of frustrating but it definitely helps than waiting there for hours. read more

I recommend trying their drinks--they have tea and coffee too. One thing that's different about this Bambu location is that they serve food as well. They serve classic Vietnamese food including rolls, sandwiches, rice bowls and vermicelli bowls. I like their vermicelli bowls and I've only tried their vermicelli bowls. I wanted to try their banh mi, Vietnamese sandwiches, but I thought they were on the pricey end. Overall, I am happy that this location is close to where I work! Bambu has been one of my favorite places nearby ever since it opened. There's really no place I've ever been that I can compare it to--after all, I can't say I've had Vietnamese chè anywhere else (to be honest, I hadn't even heard of it before coming here). In the context of the US, I guess it would belong in the same category as other Asian dessert shops/cafes that serve boba and other types of drinks. I'm a huge boba fan personally, and though Bambu should not be confused as a boba tea place, I would recommend it to anyone who likes boba and wants to branch out to some other toppings. The base of their drinks are coconut water/milk, both of which are fine to my taste. They have many premade drinks already curated, but at this point, I've just started to get custom drinks since they let you choose 5(?) ingredients. The sheer variety of (Asian) ingredient/topping options is what makes this place so stellar for me. There are so many different jellies and bubbles... it's honestly a dream. I personally always opt for the pandan jelly, longan (like how does a place have both of these options???), and then usually a smattering of jellies and tapioca-y things. It's a bit on the sweeter side, and it's a LOT more "food" than something like bubble tea, so this is something you should keep in mind when coming here. Finishing one of their drinks feels more like finishing a decadent dessert (not that I'm complaining). They also offer other things, like banh mi, which is pretty cool. I got their fries thing once, which was alright. I'd probably stick to their drinks here, but I can see it being a solid source for Vietnamese food since other places in the area aren't really providing it. read more

I've been here a variety of times, the first few times not being adventurous, just ordering smoothies, which were always fantastic. On my latest visit, I asked the person behind the counter that I was feeling adventurous, and that I wanted to order something outside the norm. To me, anything outside the standard smoothie is "outside the norm." The person behind the counter was super friendly and convinced me to order the #10, which is the Bambu Favorite, which has a list of ingredients where I really didn't know what I was ordering......red tapioca, grass jelly, pandan jelly, and coconut milk. This is a drink that you consume by eating and drinking it.....the jellies in the drink were an odd sensation when they hit my mouth, kinda chewy.......interesting, but then I found myself enjoying them. It was certainly a different experience. Can't wait to try another one next time. Went back on my lunch hour with my partner while working and evening shift. Traditional Bahn mi was great and vegetables were fresh and crisp. The baguette was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside the way it should be. I have had Vietnamese food in Southern California, and this place is as close to SoCal thc ăn (Southern California Vietnamese Foodstuffs) as you can get without buying a plane ticket. I love the Vietnamese coffee has a full robust for and unlike Starbucks doesn't taste burned. If you are a serious coffee drinker than you will know what I am talking about. Hadn't been here in a while and glad I can back. My partner ordered the BbQ pork bahn mi and he had no complaints. The dessert are different than anything you have ever tried and it would do justice for me to try and describe them. Bambu's dessert drinks keep drawing me back. They're messy, filling, and absolutely delicious. Honestly they could even call this a meal drink instead of a dessert drink.
