I stumbled upon this spot when I was searching for food in the area after a doctor's appointment and the food and drink from here did not disappoint! This place is located inside the Smith Haven Mall so there's plenty of free parking, just make sure you park by the mall entrance where the food court is. Otherwise you'd be walking through the mall just to get to the food court. They had a good selection of food/drinks and I ended up ordering a Peach Fuji Apple Homemade Fruit Tea and the Grilled Shrimp 5 Course Bento Box. The bento box didn't look like it had much food: 8 small grilled shrimp, a few pieces of fried chicken, white rice, salad and a miso soup. However, despite not looking like much, I was pleasantly full and satisfied at the end! The shrimp was very flavorful as was the fried chicken. The sauce that came with the bento box was good though I'm not sure what it was exactly. The drink was really good too, with a few slices of actual fruit and the liquid had a fizzy taste to it. It was very refreshing! Once you place your order, you get a buzzer and once that goes off, you return it for your food/drink. Here's the Scoop! Here today at Smithhaven Mall walking around and felt a little hungry. So I decided to try out this Ramen place. There was a line that moved quickly. As I read over the menu a host was giving out tasters. Yesss, they were delicious fried chicken nuggets. I ordered the shrimp ramen with egg bowl with a side of the nuggets. Oh yessss, very tasty. The ramen had some back heat but not over bearing. The shrimp was seasoned and grilled. This meal hit the spot for a rainy day. I enjoyed it thoroughly and definitely will try this restaurant again. Located in the food court at Smith haven mall in Lake grove, NY you'll come across Yume Ramen. Yume Ramen has been a fan favorite for quite some time now and now, it became my favorite. Today I have in front of you their Kombu chicken ramen with EXTRA eggs. Nothing beats the cold with a nice bowl of ramen. Sweet suckling chicken with their half boiled eggs, uuuuf! The ramen broth is perfect, not to griney from the chicken or eggs but it packs flavor! So delightful and delicious. I was at the mall today with some friends. There was one young girl who was behind the counter today, about 20. She seemed annoyed then I asked questions and pointed to the screen menu. She was not very warm. As far as food, there WAS a gluten free ramen option, which I appreciate to see. It was $18.50 (the gluten free made it $2 extra so beware celiacs). I explicitly stated "only a little spice" twice to the unbothered lady. When it came out, the meal was hot... and VERY SPICY. As someone with acid reflux, about 4-5 hours later, I felt a sharp stomach pain. I connected the dots, since I got way over "only a little spice." Food was out in 5-10 mins. This place is like a gem in the rough, if the 'rough' was considered the mall cafeteria. It has quite a selection to choose from: ramen, bento boxes, appetizers, desserts. There's even a small selection of packaged snacks and drinks to add to your order as well! I ordered a Kombu Chicken Ramen with a side of Orange Ramune and Black Thunder bars. The ramen itself good! Noodles had a nice chew, everything was nicely seasoned. A stellar dish considering its origins inside the mall. No need to explain how Ramune and Black Thunder tastes but its nice to know there's a local place I can pick up my Japanese treats! Overall, I think it's at least worth a visit. I read about the opening and was anxious to try Yume. I have now been back twice. The quality and variety of Japanese dishes is rare for this area. It's your best option in and around the Smithhaven Mall. I will definitely return to try different menu items. fantastic!! was checking this spot out with a friend and the person handing out samples in front of the counter immediately caught our attention and was extremely nice and very personable. he gave us samples of some of their fried chicken (which was delicious), then after talking with us for a bit, he recommended we try the bento boxes, as well as a couple imported beverages from their fridge (which were absolutely excellent). my friend and i got the chicken and the shrimp boxes and shared them; they were absolutely delicious and perfectly portioned (especially for the price of roughly $13 each) so we were left satisfied and full and even had a little bit to spare! they came with a salad, miso soup, white or fried rice, shumai dumplings, and either the chicken or shrimp, all of which was top-notch. everything was made to order and you could definitely taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. the person who was working the register and preparing the food was incredibly kind to us as well; when we went back to get a dango stick for dessert, he gave us an extra one for free, which was very generous and absolutely delicious. food aside, for a small storefront in a mall food court this place was visibly very clean and well-kept, and the general aesthetic and layout of everything gave off a great vibe as well. we will definitely be back the next time we're at the smith haven mall; i highly recommend you support this place and check out their wonderful food! read more
