Ube Halo Halo
Mike L.

Now, I don't know if it's because there's a constant stream of new and interesting Asian dessert options that keep opening up or because I've just started to take them for granted (or both), but I never really think of stopping into Bambu much these days. Che desserts are great and all, but I'd be lying if I said coming here to grab one would historically be the first thing that comes to mind. However, after being pleasantly surprised by our visit to this location, perhaps that needs to change! Even though our coming here was largely a byproduct of us already being (somewhat) nearby and this place being one of the few options still open for dessert, I was actually excited to come here since it had been over a decade since I last visited a Bambu. Inside, this particular location is decent in size, but a bit dated in how it looks. That said, the menu looked even more interesting than I remember. In addition to their che drink options, they also have several varieties of waffles, milk teas, fruit teas, coffees, smoothies, and French macaron cookies, among other things. While we initially came in with one of their traditional che options in mind, we immediately flipped to their UBE HALO HALO once we saw a post for it. Made up of a Red Bean base with Coconut Meat, Rainbow Jelly, Pandan Jelly, Crystal Boba, Coconut Milk, Red Tapioca, Jackfruit, Egg Pudding, and Topped with Ube Ice Cream, this came with nearly every topping Bambu has to offer! All together, this was a little sweet but still great! The mix of everything complemented each other well, but I especially liked the coconut milk and meat, red bean paste, egg pudding, and jackfruit. Of course, the ube ice cream perfectly rounded everything out. Beyond our dessert, service here wasn't too shabby, though not really spectacular. On the plus side, the guy at the register was friendly, but it also took longer than I would've guessed for our dessert to come out. Can't say if they're actually slow, though, as it looked like that guy might have been the only one working (there was also a family that ordered a bunch of stuff ahead of us). Regardless, it wouldn't deter me from coming back again. Between all of that, their relatively late hours, and the wealth of parking (at night, at least), this Bambu is such a convenient spot for a late night treat!

Ever since the Bambu closed in Irvine, I have to trek out to Westminster to get some che. Visited this store to get my fix. Was going to get some bubble waffle with the dessert but staff mentioned that they had ran out of bubble waffle. Ended up getting coconut mochi waffle. It was decent, the exterior was a bit harder than what I was expecting. Also ordered the egg coffee. I miss having something like this closer to home.

This place used to be popular for their desserts and waffles back in the days. Now it's a new hang out spot for our Chu hai's. The place is still small with decent seating taken by all the Chu hai's. Workers are still nice. We ordered the pandan waffles and few drinks (egg coffee, matcha coffee and avocado smoothie). All decent... the matcha coffee didn't taste much like matcha...the avocado smoothie tasted more powdery than anything so it was an unpleasant after taste for me. The pandan waffle was overcooked in the waffle machine. Came out hard and hurt the root of my mouth as I bit into it. A bit disappointed since it used to be so good. I guess quality just went down. Or maybe a bad batch for us when we came. Not sure but not willing to come back to try again. Most likely won't be back to this location for anything.

I've been here before for other drinks but this Bambu special was the most delicious think I've had and it was very unexpected because I never finish my drinks but today I did. I'm definitely coming back to try the others and I hope the are just as delicious.

I guess it's about time that I leave a review for this place. Been going here for years and really disappointed that the location in San Diego closed. This is the closest one to me so whenever I'm in the area, I always make sure to stop by. I always get the number 10: BAMBŪ Favorite-red tapioca, grass jelly, pandan jelly, coconut milk and one of their delicious mochi waffle. Check them out if you're in the area!

Yummy. #3 che ba mau is good too! The pandan waffle (green) is super warm and filling.

We usually go to this location but after today, we will never come back. My husband ordered three che ba mau (three color dessert) like we normally do but tonight it took well over 20 minutes for 3 drinks and that wasn't the worst part. When we came home (we live 10 minutes away) and ate the desserts, they were all disgusting and not fresh at all. The green jelly was hard as a rock like they were kept in the fridge for days. Usually they're soft and chewy but the ones they put in our drinks were old and hard. The mung bean also had a sour, spoiled taste. They gave us old, pre-assembled and pre-sealed that was probably days old. We threw all three drinks away. The cups don't even have the logo on anymore and they sealed them now. We will never come back here.

Small shop in a shopping center, in front of the 2nd Gen Korean bbq location. The shop has about 3 tables with chairs. The staff was nice and friendly. My order didn't take long. I got the large for $9.80. It was refreshing and I loved all the bits and pieces of fruit etc. you get to chew on. Would recommend and definitely will come back.

10. Bambu Favorite and Passion Fruit tea

Bambu is a Vietnamese dessert place and I haven't had it for a long time since the ones in LA county were out of business. I ordered the Bambu Favorite that consists of red tapioca, grass jelly, pandan jelly and coconut milk, everything that I like in one cup. It's a perfect and refreshing summer dessert that isn't heavy. The passion fruit tea was also refreshing as well. There is seating inside the place but its a bit dirty so is the restroom.

Place is cute. Tried the avocado smoothie as well as some coconut one. It wasn't bad but not something I would order again. I don't like durian, but decided to try the durian waffle to see if maybe I could get used to it lol I don't think I'll ever like durian. The coconut waffle was delicious though!!!

Che Hat Luu Suong Sao Banh Lot

CASH ONLY! After a hearty meal, I needed something refreshing and sweet like this! I've only really gotten che at Hien Khanh, but this was also delicious! I got the Che Hat Luu Suong Sao Banh Lot which has more of all the jelly, tapioca stuff. Not too sweet, creamy, and generous with the toppings! This place seems to only have these drink kind of desserts, so if you're looking for a che place that has other types, Hien Khanh is probably your best bet.

Dear Bambu, The OG spot wonderful desserts and drinks, I love the amazing avocado coffee. Also I asked for Durian coffee and came out phenomenal here. What a drink for real cannot be compared. Service is quick, kind, and they have a great demeanor here at this location to help the people coming in. Ambiance is nice inside, I like all the seats and tables here. Outside seems to be fine but do not enjoy all the smoking here. I will say any one can and should be allowed to though at all places. Just nice to sit inside for sure.

My first time at a Vietnamese desert and drink place in OC and I definitely found the right place! Really lucked out by doing a google search for Vietnamese desserts in the area. Nice decor and comfortable homey feeling inside the store. Makes you want to stay and try more drinks and deserts. Service fast and friendly. We tried the ube halo halo, and passion fruit tea half sweet with basil seeds. The ube halo halo was fantastic. It was love at first sip! It was a great combination of red bean, tapioca, jelly, coconut milk and lots of other toppings. Everything tasted so fresh I can tell they make everything from scratch. Nothing tastes artificial. The passion fruit tea is possibly the best I've had. Wish I had more time to try more items. This spot is the tops!!

I ordered the Matcha Einspanner and their House Coffee (a Vietnamese coffee), and both drinks were excellent. The matcha was a little on the sweet side, but it was incredibly smooth and delicious. The House Coffee was just as good it was rich, flavorful, and something I'd happily order again. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. The line to order moved quite slowly, but the speed of service after placing your order was quick. Since the menu lists the phoenix oolong MT drink as made with dairy free milk, I asked the cashier if this meant it would be using oat milk, which is what most of the other drinks are made with. The response I received was that it uses "non-dairy milk." I didn't think this was very informative and wish there could've been some better clarification. For the cafe itself, it was VERY HOT inside. Having no AC in this weather for a popular boba shop is quite sad and stingy. The workers were all glistening with sweat. I did visit the restroom, which was even hotter than the rest of the store.

However, I am assuming that the name was just replaced with their brown sugar boba creme brulee milk which I did try before but it was more watered down than I remember. This time I came to get original purple rice yogurt and the new blueberry yogurt mochi milk. The original purple rice yogurt was really good! It has purple rice in it and tea jelly. If you like texture and chewing on something while drinking on a sweet and tart drink, then I would definitely recommend this! As for the blueberry yogurt mochi milk. It was good, but basically just tasted like yoplait blueberry yogurt. There wasn't anything that stood out about this drink. Because it had the name mochi in it, I assumed that there would be more mochi in the drink, but instead it was mostly just blueberry yogurt smoothie. In addition, for the purple rice yogurt, in the description, it mentioned smoothie, but in the blueberry yogurt drink, it did not have any mention of smoothie so I assumed it was just blueberry milk with mochi. However, it is in fact a smoothie. Lastly, I wish they had an option for 70% sugar as opposed to just 100% 50% 25% and 0% sugar level.

I ordered the No. 9 milk tea with no toppings. At $7.10 it's a bit pricey and tastes average…read more Lots of hang out space and parking. Please come and create your own adventure.

Unfortunately, both times the drink looked nothing like the photos on the menu. It was extremely diluted and tasted like plain watery milk. It barely tasted like tea or rich milk-more like it was 75% water and 25% milk, with almost no tea flavor. It wasn't sweet at all. The drink was bland, watery, and lacked the rich brown sugar flavor I was expecting. I gave this place a second chance, but the second drink was just as disappointing. Also, Im not really a picky eater. I've bought canned milk tea from H Mart for $1.50 that tastes much richer and more flavorful than this. Considering the price and how different the drink looked from the advertised photos, I was very disappointed. I can usually finish a 16 oz milk tea from other boba shops because they're sweet, creamy, and flavorful. With this drink, I couldn't even finish half of the 8 oz cup because it was so bland and watered down. I hate wasting food and drinks, but I ended up throwing it away after drinking only half. I'm honestly confused by all the high ratings. I'm not sure if there's a difference between drinks made for Uber Eats orders and those served in-store, but both of my Uber Eats orders were extremely watered down. The first time I picked it up myself, and the second time it was delivered within about 5 minutes of being made since I live only a couple of minutes away. So I don't think freshness or delivery time had anything to do with my experience.
