I had UPS deliver my Radio Shack stack record player in for a repair job. The needle was hanging loose and I had no idea how it could be fixed. i found Bammel TV during a search. They wanted over $100 just to look at it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They never told me what was needed, just fixed it for $455.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parts cost $21 for a cartridge and needle, which can be installed in less than 30 minutes. Rip off is my opinion. Oh, they didn't apply the fee for just looking at the record player to the final bill, so they got over $555 for a $21 fix that doesn't even have good sound quality like it had before. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am not a happy camper.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Although the warranty was still good when I called to complain, they said to bring it back. No, thanks. Instead of returning the record player, I got on the web and did some searches. Learned a lot about parts . Such a simple fix! I ordered a good needle ($35) and will install it myself. I went across town because of the great reviews this company received online. Those great reviews are not deserved. 1) They are very expensive. 2) They upped the estimate on my repair without my approval. 3) They took my $100 downpayment and said I would pay the rest when my equipment was repaired. 4) Then I was called in to say that they needed to order the part and asked to pay the final repair price BEFORE the repair was completed. 5) [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to come in a third time to pick up my equipment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 6) [[HIGHLIGHT]]I complained to the manager, John, when I came in and he was sorry that I felt that way but did not offer me any consideration and generally displayed apathy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 7) I picked up my equipment and told them that I would not be coming back. I never write reviews. I'm writing this one so no one else has the kind of experience I've had with Bammel TV. They are the WORST! You are literally better off trying to fix your equipment yourself. I got Bammel TV's name from the Roland/Korg website as an authorized repair shop. I advised their representative my Korg keyboard was experiencing an intermittent power problem and that it would sometimes boot up if I applied extra pressure when plugging the power cable into the back of the unit. I told him I thought it might be a cold/bad solder joint on the plug or a board. (I'm an Electrical Engineer so have some experience with such things.) We weren't able to recreate the fault (it wouldn't boot up at all at their shop) and he said he doubted that was the problem. After charging me the non-refundable $195 to troubleshoot an intermittent power problem, they contacted me a few days later and misdiagnosed a simple power plug jack defect as requiring a new power supply. They attempted to overcharge me via phone quote. I declined and said I'd come to pick up the equipment. They advised they needed a week to 'put it back together'. Four days later I got a text advising they've lowered their quote. $100 less than the original (so obviously, they hadn't even attempted to 'pack it up' for me). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since they had my equipment and I'd already driven an hour and ten minutes round trip to drop it off, I agreed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A week later they advised it was ready. They had it set up when I arrived. It was powered on so I took it and paid the balance. I got home and it had the same intermittent power problem I'd brought it in for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called and they said they'd give it a 'courtesy' check.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I drove back to their location again and showed the representative and he realized it might be just what I suggested it might be...a bad solder joint on the power jack. They kept it for a few more days and advised I could pick it up again. I contacted the CEO of the company to discuss whether or not he thought they could refund me for the unnecessary work they'd done. He offered me $85 (of a total of $427) IF I would bring back the original (working) power supply (I had asked for this when they did the replacement) so they could remove the (unnecessarily installed) new one. He went on to say however that, if it was determined that the original OEM power supply DID have a problem in addition to the power jack solder joint issue, he'd have to charge me more to reinstall the new one, again. Having driven there and back twice already, having paid them over $400 to resolder a power jack, and being very uncomfortable with their business practices, I declined the credit offer, and drove there again to pick up my keyboard, which now has an aftermarket power supply in it. Not sure why the other reviews trash this place. I can only guess they want to fix "throw away" electronics and are shocked there is a minimum amount it's going to cost them to fix it. Most of what you buy today is worth less in a year than you paid for it and and at some point it's not with fixing. They fixed my McIntosh receiver quickly and got it back to me in a couple of weeks. That was reasonable to me. One week alone was due to getting parts from the manufacture. There are not really anyone doing this kind of work anymore and having a local place to go to is better than having to ship it away. They were friendly and upfront with coats so I can make a determination whether I wanted to proceed. Overall, I am satisfied. read more

I CANNOT recommend BAMMEL TV Technology Services. They charged me nearly A THOUSAND DOLLARS to provide and put up a very dinky antenna, poorly, on my house by way of the chimney. I was expecting a large, serious antenna. JOHN showed up with a Channelmaster OMNI+50 that probably cost him LESS than $80! SO...LESS THAN A HUNDRED FOR THE ANTENNA, AND MORE THAN $800 for the installation labor. MORE THAN $800!! BY EMAIL, JOHN told me an able bodied person would show up to do the work. Instead, the 60+ yr old owner, JOHN, showed up, used MY LADDER and had ME be assistant, standing there to secure the ladder as he went up and down. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAID FOR THE USE OF MY LADDER AND FOR MY PERSONAL TIME. 'JOHN' got up there and used standard metal strapping, BUT SET IT UP POORLY. It looks like the mounting was done by someone incompetent for the task. Before long the top ANGLED strap on the chimney is going to shift down, causing slack. SLACK is not good for holding a pole and antenna up! Even I know that. Why didn't John? AT NEARLY THE SAME TIME I brought a beloved digital piano to BAMMEL TV. BAMMEL TV claims to be authorized to fix Yamaha electric pianos. Lol!! I talked and talked to them about the piano. They mainly ignored me. I WANTED them to FIND A SOLUTION allowing me to STILL USE the high quality sounds/voices in the Yamaha, even if they could not fix the amplifier in the keyboard. Going 'Frankenstein', as in finding and using non-Yamaha pieces on it, would have been okay, if that's what was required to make it work. They just kept telling me they couldn't find the parts. I ENCOURAGED them to come up with a solution that JUMPED OVER the amplifier problem so I could output to an external amplifier and speakers instead of the Yamaha's built in power amp. They ignored me, so I have this excellent Yamaha keyboard that has all these great sounds and great keyboard mechanism but because they 'couldn't find parts' it's imprisoned by silence. I wish I had read the YELPS about BAMMEL TV. John's father started BAMMEL TV. I bet John's father would be mighty disappointed with his son now. I have contacted BAMMEL TV and invited them to REFUND ME AT LEAST $500. I got a response saying they were willing to take another swing at mounting the TV antenna. That won't do. I brought in a 1980's NAD integrated audio amplifier that was showing the red "Protection circuit" LED on. I paid the fee to have the thing looked at. The claim was that they had to replace "a few capacitors" to fix the unit, but no proof of that was ever offered. I was never given the old/bad capacitors, nor given a specific list of which capacitors, or values, or quantities were bad. So it could have needed two 50 cent capacitors, or it could have needed a dozen $5 capacitors. I have no idea. In the end I paid about $375 for the work which was expensive, and I realised that that at the time. I have no problem paying for someone's time to diagnose an electronics problem and take the time to trace circuits to find bad components. That work can be slow and time consuming. However to get zero documentation about the specifics of what was replaced was very disapointing because this lead to a great distrust of the place. I would NOT go back to Bammel TV. read more

I needed to find someone or a company that worked on vintage stereo equipment. This company was brought to my attention by a relative in Houston so I had them hand deliver it to them. They looked at it and then gave an estimate. Good with the estimate I told them to proceed but had to pay first. That was a HUGE mistake because at that point they have everything with no guarantees. They then made contact that the repair was complete and I had to pay the balance (in total close to $400). My relative delivered the item back to me that week to which I immediately plugged it in and you guessed it nothing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was concerned and furious and immediately contacted them to see about a refund or what could be done(thought I spoke with an owner or high mukety muck).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] His (john) reply was "that i had 90 days to send it back but over 30 were gone and it would take about 3 weeks then". I thought on this and opted to reach out online to see if anyone else knew of a repair service. I found another and this time shipped it to them. They looked at it, said it had not been touched and no evidence of a prior repair. Incidentally they didn't ask for the first penny before the repair and sent a video of it working after the repair and before shipping back to me. read more

Here are the facts. I brought my Roland VGA 7 amplifier (1998) in on November 21, 2019 to have three things fixed: two volume potentiometers replaced, the internal and external I/Os made functional, and to have a rubber cord stop replaced on the back of the unit. The man who took my information was aloof, cold, and could care less; to him, I was just another person bringing in more work for him to do. After paying $75 for the bench fee, was told that in five business days I would receive an estimate. When I called back five business days later, the clerk, a woman, defied me and said that I was told "five TO SEVEN business days" even though I had never spoke to her. This was a lie; I remember what the male tech who wrote up the invoice told me, but I decided "what's the use of arguing?" and let it pass. Two days later, I got a call on my voicemail a half hour before they closed; the estimate wasn't done yet and I would have to wait some more. Again, I didn't lose my temper and let it pass figuring it was a waste of energy. Another week passed, and then they finally called me; they couldn't fix the internal and external I/Os due to the unavailability of the part, and the other two items would set me back $300. Think carefully about that estimate. I originally paid $1300 for this amplifier, so Bammel TV demanded almost 25% of the original cost JUST TO FIX TWO POTENTIOMETERS AND TO HAVE A PIECE OF RUBBER AFFIXED TO THE BACK OF THE AMPLIFIER. I had already committed the $75, so I figured I would bite the bullet and give my authorization for the repairs. BIG MISTAKE!!! When I asked how long it would take, the tech assured me over the phone that now that I had given my authorization, the wait would not be long at all. HA! They called me on Dec. 21st, one month after I had brought in the amp, and gave me some sob story about one of their techs being out sick for a week, and that it would be ready soon. I asked if I would receive a discount due to the unit not being repaired in the specified time period, and there was a pause on the line, and then some excuse given in a tone of voice that suggested they couldn't believe I would be so outrageously insolent as to suggest I receive renumeration for their not keeping their word. More waiting. Then on Dec. 28th, the day I am writing this review, they called me to come pick up the amp. $269 for labor, to replace two small parts and a rubber cord grip. So I guess $100 each for the potentiometers, and $69 for the rubber stop? I'm being facetious, but probably not far off from reality. Arriving at the store, a woman is up front (probably the one who lied to me over the phone), and an elderly gent I've never seen whom I presume is the owner. The amp is rolled in, and I soon notice that the rubber stop has not been placed on the cord. I don't know if the potentiometers were fixed properly, because I couldn't believe that I was being ripped off so badly; that this company was SO insolent as to think that not fixing one of the items I demanded to be fixed, and which WAS itemized on the invoice receipt, was not done. Their attitude was like "Take it or leave it, sucker, you're lucky you got this amp back at all." Now I DID lose my temper! I had driven 23 minutes and wasted MORE money on fuel to find that after all this time, five weeks to be precise, my amp was STILL not ready for pick up. The clerk told me a cock and bull story about "Well, we couldn't find the genuine Roland part, so we just figured you wouldn't want a generic part on your amp -- of course, if that's what you want, we'll do it for no extra charge." I'm serious, that's what he said in so many words. This rubber doo-hicky is like a three dollar part maximum which can be purchased at any electronic supply company, and he was thinking I was going to believe his nonsense? DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! read more

Believe the negative reviews. Do NOT do business with this company. They could not fix my Velodyne subwoofer amp and said that one was in stock in Germany. I upfronted the $1,000.00 and they ordered it, so they said. Months later the amp was nowhere to be found and I had to make numerous calls to finally obtain a refund. The owner explained he was having cash flow problems; another employee said the refund delay was due to her being on vacation. I consider myself lucky to have received the refund. Shame on me for not reading the negative reviews first, but they are on Velodyne's authorized repair center list. Even though the amp was not worth repairing, It was worth the service fee just to make sure. The turnaround time was good and reasonable. I was calling once a week and they originally ordered the wrong part i waited two weeks for that. Then they called me to tell me that that same part would be 70 dollars more from another vender. Ummmm ok after i told them that was ridiculous they told me ohh well we can fix it. I call a week in a half later they said its almost complet, by the way im the had to call them they claim it was because of covid-19 i dont understand how that would affect tv repairs but whatever. Then they call me a couple days later saying it couldn't be repaired and i would only be refunded for 40 bucks for the 90 main board part i purchased which i checked on different places online it was no more than 20 bucks. Warning! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BRAMMEL T.V.! I had lightning strike my home and damaged two TV's, subwoofer, and stereo receiver. I called Brammel TV and spoke with John - CEO and Owner. I explained what happened and asked if they could help. John assured me that they are very successful at repairing equipment after a lightning strike. He explained they bill like airlines, they get paid up front. (My first warning sign) DON'T PAY UPFRONT! John charged my credit card $619. Diagnostic fees! He sent his Tech over to pick up my equipment, The Tech must have been in a hurry, and he ripped the wires from the equipment. (My second warning) One of my TV's was working, but I had no way to test it. His tech hooked up a DVD and the TV did work. John still charged me a full diagnostic fee. After about a week and not hearing back, I called and had to leave a message. After a couple of days John did call me back, he explained how busy they are and have not gotten to my equipment yet. This went on for weeks, they never answer their phone, and usually have to leave multiple messages in order to get a return call. (My third warning) After a couple of weeks, John said my TV might be able to be repaired, but they were going to have to purchase parts that would cost almost as much as the TV after the diagnostic fee. I told him I would replace it rather than him continue to run up fees. A week or so later he called back and said he could not get any factory support on my subwoofer. He said he would be returning my subwoofer. The company that now owns them is listed on the internet. I was able to e-mail them for support. (My fourth warning) After another week John said he had to order a part in order to fix the stereo receiver, so he needed another $70, which I paid. After another week, and me calling several times, always have to leave a message and rarely returning my call within 24 hours. John told me that the first part didn't work, but they could order another part for additional $120 that might fix it. AT that point I ask for and itemized receipt and my equipment returned. After over a month and almost $700 Brammel TV did not repair one piece of equipment and left my stereo wires in shambles! They did refund my $70, Big Deal! Let me repeat, DO NOT USE BRAMMEL TV. Don't deal with Bammel TV, this place is a scam and this's how the the scam work. John the owner will ask you for your name and telephone numbers. He will than ask for your personal informations, don't give it to him. Furthermore, he will than charge you either $150 or $200 upfront, "DO NOT" paid him, especially, with cash which he will ask for. After the due dates, they will NOT going to pick up the phone. So I have to drive up there. When you arrive there to pick up the order, good luck with him opening the door. He didn't open the door for me until another customer came in. Finally , he come out with my electronic and said it's unfixable. I ask for a refund he said, "no the money will keep the shop going with a smile" I knew he was a crook. He added, in order for it to be fix, we will need a part from Roland factory, and will be additional $160 on top. Plus, the part will take at least 4-10 weeks or more to arrive. John told me to take the Roland module home and I went ahead to file a recharge with my bank. Less than 2 days, John found out I file a recharged he contact me back ASAP and said, "the part is here and since you file a recharge, I need you to pay that $ upfront before we proceed. How did the backorder suppose to take 4-10 weeks and it's there already within 2 days? Did it magically appear or transported there. Lol! You scam me once John it's not going to happen again! If you guys do bring your stuff there, DO NOT pay him upfront, especially with cash! It may not happen to everyone because he probably pick only certain person to scam. These 5 stars are BS! The unit was serviced successfully and is still working 11 months later. The repair cost ended up being 1/2 the going price for other MA 6100's for sale on the web. I was told by one of the techs as I was dropping it off they never charge more than a couple hundred for the complete service on McIntosh amps of this size. My other option was to send it to McIntosh for $65 / hour for service and costs for shipping/insurance . After I paid for fixed service costs up front, I was told the service tech they would provide a quote on the repairs after inspection. This fixed service cost would be applied against the repair bill if I elected to do the repairs. About 2 weeks later I got an overall quote for $465 including some extra work for the replacement of several light bulbs in the front panel. I never got a clear answer from Bob the service tech as to what was required to make it work or how he priced the repairs. He did mention something about capacitors. Somehow that answer did not justify as being worth $465 to service the amp. He did not include any extra services such as clean up the chassis of dust - you would expect it would look clean like it was professionally serviced. Performing some extras would have eased the price pain and would have made it easier to write this review. It took 2 weeks longer than promised for a total service time of 2 months. Hey Big John, I'm not a master tech like yourself but I was able to diagnose the little Princeton myself damned if I didn't find the little culprit. Two little rca cables from the amp to the reverb tank. I just happened to have a couple here at the house. Yeah, I would say your 600 hundred quote was a little "aggressive" as well as the 400 quote you reduced it too, and I'm sure you can understand why I wasn't interested in anything else to do with your little operation. First of all, this is an Velodyne AUTHORIZED repair center. I brought in a Velodyne FSR-18, about a 20 year old unit based on them stating that they were an AUTHORIZED and therefore QUALIFIED repair center. YEARS AGO, Velodyne stopped providing service, drawings or even assistance for this unit but BAMMEL said they could fix it. I happily paid the $100+ diagnosis fee and went on my way expecting a positive outcome. About a week or two later, they said that I needed a new amp and that they could not get one or parts for it and it was ready for pickup. Bammel TV failed to take care of their customer. They present themselves as a customer friendly family business, however they are just one of those types of businesses with bottom line to squeeze as much money as they can from their customers. They tell you on the phone the repair work is going to be minimal excluding their expensive diagnostic fee. But, once they have you with your equipment, cost of repair rises. I refused to accept the additional cost of repair, even though they tried three times to negotiate the additional cost of repair, because it was much much higher than what they had told me on the phone to replace the failed part. Which, by the way, I told them exactly what part has failed and there was nothing else to diagnose. I accepted the fact that I will be losing my advance payment of over $100 diagnostic fee made to them without getting my equipment repaired. If I had known, what the final cost would be, I would NOT have taken my equipment to Bammel TV and spent a dime for it. Bottom line, make sure you ask them, Bammel TV, to tell you how much it is going to cost you to repair your equipment before you drag your equipment to them. Do not trust those who say bring it to them and they will tell later. At that point, it is too late and you have lost money and many days out of your time. read more

I took my Vintage Pioneer SX-1010 receiver to Bammel TV for a distortion problem. I am a hobbyist and have successfully repaired many amplifiers, receivers, tape decks, cd players, turntables, and speakers but with the freeze damage I had on my home, I felt like I didn't have time to repair the Pioneer myself. I called Bammel TV and they told me that they charge $149 upfront to diagnose and give an estimate to repair and that if I chose to have them repair it they would apply that to the total bill. I almost decided not to take it to them as I thought $149 was a bit steep. But I had totally rebuilt this unit about a year ago and decided that perhaps it might not hurt to have a "professional tech" take a look at it. I took it to them and was told it would take 7-10 days for them to diagnose and get back with me for an estimate. After a couple of weeks passed and not hearing from them I decided to give them a call for a status report. I don't know who I spoke with (it wasn't John although the response was similar) but in his robotic and condescending tone I was told that they could not find anything wrong with it. When I pressed on about the testing they did, he repeated the same thing...nothing wrong was found. So I went over to pick it up. When I went in John came to the counter and I told him I needed to pick up my receiver. I quizzed him about what tests and procedures they performed and he told me he had his best tech work on it and he could not find anything wrong with it. I then asked if I could speak with the tech and he got mildly agitated and said the tech was Vietnamese and did not speak much english. I said ok but let me try. Mistake. He did not speak much english so I gave up and left with my still unrepaired receiver. A day later I hooked the receiver up and played a CD. About ten seconds after the start of the track the distortion started. I then tried a cassette tape and the distortion was so bad on the left channel it was barely audible. It was clear to me that they didn't perform suitable testing of the unit. I called and spoke to John and voiced my dissatisfaction with their service. Of course in his opinion they did everything they could. He told me I could bring it back in they would look at it again at no charge. Wasn't that nice of him! I did not take it back and would not take anything else to them. Maybe they did good work in the past but not anymore in my opinion. With all the other stuff on my plate I bit the bullet and found time to work on my receiver. I found the problem and repaired it. Based on my experience I would give Bammel TV any stars but 1 seems to be the minimum. Do the research on them through reviews online before you take in your vintage equipment to them I wish I had. Over the past year Bammel TV repaired two large flat screen TVs in my home, a 56 inch LCD and 66 inch plasma TV, the latter with parts that were very hard to get. In both cases they did a great job. Recommended! read more

I wish there was negative rating I could select. Definitely a rip off company. Charged me twice for a repair due to their incompetence diagnosis. So called experts told me my microwave needed a Magnetron replacement. Called after installing and said oh now you need a new inverter board. Ask to see the so called "fried parts". Was told they don't keep used Parts. Rip off. Will Never use them again and will tell everybody I know to do the same. read more

their sign out front says"Since 1976"-that's also the last time any kind of housekeeping was done in the place. Took a month to get my electronics back-and outrageously expensive. Don't get sucked into the "diagnostic fee"-then you're trapped. Wish I had done more investigating before using them. read more
