Banana Cafe may be on Duval St, but its location at the far south end puts it off the beaten path enough that it could be easy to miss. Don't make that mistake. Banana Cafe has one of the absolute brunch menus on Key West. First, if you're coming for brunch, get here early. Despite the fact that they have an impressive amount of seating for this small island, it's not uncommon to have to wait a bit for a table. This is particularly true if you want to sit on their upstairs deck. If you have time and the wait is not crazy, I highly recommend this. It's a great atmosphere and looks right out over Duval. We've never had anything but excellent service here over the years. The staff and the owner are all very friendly and accommodating. They are always prompt and efficient and our food has always come out in a very timely manner. Now, on to the good part: the food. I staked out a favorite the first time we dined here and haven't strayed too far. Personally, I love the La Seafood Crepe. The key lime hollandaise is to die for and the scallops and shrimp are always cooked to perfection and wrapped in a delicious wheat crepe with mushrooms. I've also tried the seafood omelet, which was right up there. They also have quite the drink menu with a number of different flavors of mimosas you can get by the glass or by the pitcher. Had lunch here after visiting southern point. Restaurant was busy, but not too crazy. We've ordered the shrimp salad and he seafood crepe. As drinks we've got lemonade and grapefruit Radler. Didn't know the Radler before (Austrian brand), but it was great. The shrimp salad had a lot of shrimp that tasted good and a nicely toasted baguette (has to be ordered additionally). The dressing was good, not too much mayonnaise, only complaint would be too many onions. My wife really liked the seafood crepe, which contained a lot of tasty seafood, like shrimp and scallops and a nice combination of flavors. This place had an interesting vibe, it was like it came out of Paris with an Island twist. We sat outside on the patio upstairs. We ordered fresh squeezed orange juice. My husband got the breakfast sandwich on a croissant with bacon, I got the savory complete crepe with sausage and we split the key lime dessert crepe. Prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. I've always had crepes as dessert but not an actual hearty meal and it wasn't disappointing. The key lime dessert crepe was amazing. I'm not a big key lime fan but you have no choice when you're in key (west) lime pie territory so you have to try it one way or another. This is a popular breakfast spot on Key West's Duval Street. The owner is actually a French woman, and my husband who is from Francophone Africa spoke to her briefly. She sort of mills about the restaurant not really doing much, certainly not help ensure that guests are being served in a timely fashion - but I am getting offtrack. Regardless, we both ordered savory crepes, they were very good. My only critique is the service - when we arrived there was no host present, then a waitress noticed us and asked if we anted a table, on the way to the table the host passed the waitress who asked us what we were doing, and the waitress showing us to our table failed to explain that she was helping us, leaving me to explain what was going on to the hostess's confusion. After we sat down it took a long time to get any attention, despite the fact that the owner is walking around staring at all the tables. In the end, I would definitely recommend this place, but expect the service to be authentically French... Worth a try though :) read more

We got to sit on the balcony and watch the people in the street. My husband ordered a local beer and it was awesome. The service was good and the staff was very friendly. My sandwich was good and had the perfect amount of ham/turkey mixture. The potato chips were great. Not sure if they were fresh made or from a bag. If they were store bought I need to know the brand. My husband got the seafood omelet. He loved it I tasted it but it had a fishy taste to it which I don't care for at all. Hands down my fave breakfast joint of all times, let alone key west. Going strong for decades and quality hasn't faltered for a moment even through this crazy pandemic. I regret not taking any photos. Conveniently situated in the quieter end of Duvall. Super prompt service where you never feel rushed but never have to wait long for tables either. Love their rooftop seating vibe. Dog friendly. Servers are all smiles. Bit the best part of it all is the food! We ate here on Sunday July 28,2024, we have been here several times and come back because there are some interesting meal choices. We ordered Blackened Shrimp Benedict and a Banana Foster Waffle and split both entree. The Benedict was served and tasted good but definitely lacked in size. The English muffin and egg were standard size so it really accentuated how small and few the shrimp were. There were 2 medium shrimp on each muffin. There should have been 3-4 shrimp on each and none were blackened with a very small amount of Hollandaise sauce. Next....Banana Foster Waffle so sad. The waffle itself was limp and came with 5 small slices of banana. I get that you are going cheap but guys bananas are about 25 cents, it would have certainly help the presentation of this limp waffle if you had provided more than a 1/4 of a banana. I was disappointed to say the least. Good luck in the future and hope that you can entice the tourists because this local will be going somewhere else. read more

I wandered over from my Airbnb seeking brunch. It has a nice outdoor seating, and small line had formed (and they had mimosas on special). I gambled, and said yes to waiting. The joys of travelling solo - The group of bros had to wait, and I was immediately seated! I kept it simple - steak and eggs (with a croissant) and holy hell, it was possibly the best steak and eggs I've had in a while. Perfectly cooked (medium rare) and over easy eggs - and their drinks were solid. Right in the heart of Duval Street, the tables out on the porch are excellent for people watching. Went for brunch, had two outstanding crepes: the shrimp lemon pesto, and the Norwegian, which was stuffed with an unbelievable amount of salmon, cream cheese and caramelized onions. Banana Cafe is the best!! I can't believe I haven't posted a review yet, but here goes. My boyfriend and I were on a cruise for his 40th birthday. I contacted the Banana Cafe to see about getting a table reserved on a Sunday morning as we were only in Key West for a few short hours and their brunch is ridiculously popular. They were so accommodating and just all around wonderful. They saved a table by a window for us near the back of the restaurant, very private and fun to people-watch as we enjoyed our meal. Everything was beyond our expectations. We shared the Belgian Waffle with Banana (how could you not?) and the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Probably one of the best hollandaise sauces I've ever experienced. They use key lime and it just puts it over the top. I'm not a huge sweets-for-breakfast person but I was fighting for that last bite of the waffle! The coffee, mimosas and bellinis topped off our brunch, all fresh and delicious. I think my favorite was the Strawberry Banana Bellini but they were all stellar. I highly recommend you make time to stop in Banana Cafe if you're in Key West. And it's very close to the Southern Most Point so after you stuff yourself you can go snap a selfie and walk off that nap you'll want to take from being so deliciously full! read more

LOVE THE BANANA CAFE! It's always a stop for us when in Key West! Their food is phenomenal! You need to try the Lobster BLT, Croque Monsieur, and Shrimp Mac-N-Cheese!....not all at the same time of course, because the portions are huge. The owner and staff are always friendly and treat us like family even though we only vacation in Key West twice a year. The food is so awesome I had to buy their cookbook!
