Old post but I happened to be in the area last month and remembered to try and find this place. Parking is a bit tight in this area so be patient and hopefully one will open up. I found a couple of items which were very good. The selection wasn't as large as I imagined it would be but I will be back to try them again. read more

Before visiting banchan house, I struggled to find a good tasting mandu, whether fresh or frozen--call me picky, but none of the frozen mandu at HMart or other Korean stores were to my liking. Whenever I need to restock on frozen mandu, banchan house is my go-to spot. It's not my favorite dumpling flavor per se, but it's good for the time being. I have yet to try the banchan, but it all looks quite good. Happy to have found this place! read more

Now that I changed workplaces, I'm closer to Keeaumoku area and have a plethora of different lunch options. My mom always gets her banchan and meat jun from here. Finally I decided to check this place out for myself. Luckily it's walking distance from work otherwise the parking lot gets kinda nuts and the stalls aren't the biggest. First impression was how clean it was! This place looks very immaculate and it's nice and bright when you walk in. There are so many different options and different sizes of banchan. Their daikon and cucumber kim chee are my favorites. My mom also likes to get the meat patties, which are good but on the pricier side. I have also gotten the gobo, zucchini, and chap chae banchans. I did get their mandoo before too and those were delicious (also expensive!). Overall, I keep coming back here for the cleanliness of the place and the yummy banchan. I can't come all the time otherwise I'd be super broke. They are expensive as I've easily spent like $60 for some meat jun and a few bigger banchans. If they have the fresh mandoo, I highly recommend you getting some. They're great if you pan steam/crisp them up. Their cashiers are friendly and never make you feel like you're getting yelled at (maybe their English is not the best but you can usually figure it out so it's not a big deal). read more

My brother in law picked up some goodies from here today for our mini bbq. I've been wanting to try this place out, and finally got to! The sides were such a yummy add on to our bbq meat. The kimchee was flavorful not too sour or sweet it was balanced out nicely. The radish was refreshing and not overpowering. Seaweed was not oceany like other places. And the garlic still had that perfect garlic taste to it. All in all it was YUM! read more

Kimchee and Cucumber Kimchee are the items that I tried for my first visit to Banchan House on Keeaumoku. My friend and I tried it last night and we loved it. The Cucumber Kimchee was spicier than the Kimchee. Both items tasted fresh. Next time I will pickup more Kimchee and ask if they have spicier Kimchee. I noticed that they have Kalbi and the Korean pancake. I'll try them the next time. The interior is clean and roomy. The cashier was okay. read more

If y'all haven't been to the Keeaumoku area lately, the entire block which included many shops (such as Keeaumoku produce, Sorabol, and Yogurstory) was torn down to make way for yet another condo. My family and I would always go to Keeaumoku produce for the best and freshest mandoo and banchan. When we heard they were closing and were unsure about the future of the business we were so bummed! Fast forward to today, my mom and I were driving home from Don Quijote and we saw the sign "banchan house" and soon after found ourselves in the parking lot. When we walked in, we were surprised to see the owner of the old Keeaumoku produce at the register. Turns out Keeaumoku produce is now Banchan House. We bought a huge bag of mandoo ($45) took it home, steamed them, and enjoyed. The mandoo hadn't changed one bit. It's still so delicious and I have honestly never tried a mandoo better. If you guys are in the area or knew of the former Keeaumoku produce, you should check it out. Lots of parking and other small shops neighboring this business to spend some time at. read more

Banchan, banchan, and more banchan! There are so many choices where do, I begin? Got the fish cake with red bell peppers and onions. 5 out of 5. Seasoned just right and eaten with a little dab of rice just hits the spot. Got the seasoned codfish 5 out of 5, and it was delicious. I got some small Korean nori and paired it with rice and avocado. Winners! They had some eggplant as well, and I was surprised it wasn't mushy or overcooked, 4 out of 5. Was lightly seasoned, not spicy, and I just piled a little on my plate and consumed it with some spicy kimchi that I had gotten from the farmer's market. They make their own Mandoo here, and it did not disappoint. Fried always taste better, in my opinion, but steaming them was tasty as well. I bought chive kimchi and plan to make a chive pancake with it. So, maybe I'll edit this review when I do. I wanted to try the hamburger juhn, but it was sold out. They have so many other choices of banchan to choose from. They also offer cooked dishes as well. Meat juhn, chop chae, kimchi pancake and some other thing's, that I can't remember. Would make a great addition to a future picnic at the beach. They sell Kamiya papayas and fresh eggs as well. The place is clean and bright, and they prep and cook everything in the kitchen located behind the cashier check-out. There is a private parking lot that is shared with other merchants and can be quite full. There is metered parking as well. Cash and credit card accepted. read more

Everything is very homemade fresh and delicious, very clean and organized. They have many Korean banchan (side dishes) , special dishes made on various days...meat and fish jun also a stuffed jalepeno with ground beef and more. home made mandoo very good (cook at home), hard to find "Kamiya" papayas and farm fresh eggs now I don't have to drive to the country. The person at the register may be the owner; he is so kind and helpful when I want to know what everything is. Parking can be a bit tough. Try for metered parking, It's best to go at opening or after 1:30 for better parking. read more

Good Meat Jun and Kim Chee. The Fish Jun I find too salty tho. Also their prices have really gone up. Papayas on Wednesdays are Kamiya from Kaneohe - the best, but you have to go at 930 in the am and stand in line if you want them, and they limit you to 3 only. read more

Of course they are known for their banchan! My faves are the spicy cucumber and of course kimchee but what REALLY blew my mind was the frozen meats. I paid around $16 per lb for Kalbi and $8 per lb spicy pork. Total around $125 for meats. I was a little nervous bc didn't see any reviews on meats. I let it thaw for 24 hrs in the reg fridge and threw it on the grill. It's the BEST I've ever had! Each pc of meat was tender and marinated perfectly. I highly recommend! read more

I was hoping to be able to rate this place a lil higher but unfortunately it really didn't meet my expectations. I usually go to Mr kimchi Lee on king street but I had heard good things about banchan house and that they had more selection that Kimchi Lee. But unfortunately that wasn't the case. The selection (at least when I went) was limited. The flavors of the kimchi was not as intense as I like and they a priced a lil higher than I'd like to pay for kimchi. The seasoned anchovies however were great. I will probably only return for that items only read more

Mandoo!!! They sell it by 50 or 100 pieces seems like a lot but it's so good pan fried or in soups. You cannot find handmade mandoo in most restaurants they all use frozen manufactured stuff which does not taste delicious like the mandoo you get here. They perfectly mix garlic chives, ground meat and long rice in these pocket like perfections. The Kimchi looks spicy but it's not and they don't seem to use fish sauce so it's a bit cleaner tasting. We got there at 11:30 so the hot table was stocked up with japchae and jun so it was good timing. This is a mom and pop store we are so grateful to be able to patronize them and enjoy their food! read more
