One of our go-to orders here is and always will be, their Sweet & Sour Pork (with the sauce on the side)! The pork is incredibly crispy and the sauce is light, tangy, and always hits the spot. It pairs perfectly with either a noodle dish or just a bowl of rice. I also love their Spicy Seafood Noodles. Tonight's portion was extra huge, and I still managed to finish it! The broth looks fiery, but it's actually light with lots of seafood flavor and subtle peppery notes. Definitely not as spicy as it looks- at least for me (one that usually prefers mild spicy). I also heard they make all of their noodles in-house, which means they are fresh and made with care. The service has always been friendly and efficient. This restaurant has a new policy. We got here at 5:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon and were told that someone reserved several tables for 20 people. Parking on Sunday evening now costs $5 because you have to pay the overnight rate. We were told the wait would be 40 minutes. Three people came 15 minutes after us, and we were told they also had reservations. After we were seated, they told us that they now accept reservations from groups of five or more. With the higher parking fees and new reservations policy this restaurant might need to come off my recommended list. read more

I don't know how they are able to fry their pork strips so crispy and decadent because when you dunk it in the sweet and sour sauce it comes with it's like an explosion of flavors and textures in your mouth. Just trust me on this! You will enjoy that dish very much. I had called beforehand to make a takeout order, so when I got there I just parked my car in the back and walked towards the front of the store (street side) to enter and ladies working there were super nice! Last review was two years ago? It's high time for a refresh! This family restaurant is so consistently good that they have been feeding four generations of our family. Our uncle first came long ago because of the handmade noodles. Since then, we come back every few weeks. Everything is hand made here, from the kimchi to the mandoo to the takuan. Each item is made with flavor and treated with care. It has the cozy feel of a diner with delicious food comparable to that which we ate in Korea. Years ago, a friend of mine told me to try this place for the jajang mien and I never listen to him...fast-forward to the other weekend. I finally went on a Sunday easy free street parking and went to check it out finally. Oh my goodness, the noodles were amazing a little on the soft side, but still very tasty but the real star of the show is the sweet-and-sour pork! Amazing explosive flavor rush! My husband, especially like the dumplings those were yummy and meaty. I wish I lived closer to town than I would go back every Sunday. A co-worker went to have a haircut and suggested having lunch at On Dong afterward. We've been here before and it's "the place" for Jjajangmyeon and Tangsuyuk. We both ordered Seafood Jjajangmyeon and shared a plate of Tangsuyuk. I wanted my noodles drier and adding the sauce made the dish a little too watery for me. I can't believe it took me so long to get to this place! My friends took me here because they were craving jajangmyeon and this is one of their go-to spots. Everything was so tasty and cooked really well! Their banchan was really good too - I really liked the daikon. Heard about this restaurant from friends overhearing another couple talk about the best Asian comfort foods. We just had to try it and on a Wednesday night this place was super packed. You can tell there were a lot of regulars and people were clearly enjoying their meal. The interior is clean and homey with very nice ladies serving the food. We ordered potstickers, jelly fish, jian jjan mien, soup and stir fried noodles. Everything came out quickly. The potstickers were so good with a nice chewy texture to the skin. The jia jia mien noodle perfectly aldente covered in a thick black sauce heavily mixed throughout the dish. The stirfried noodle is hard to explain..super tasty and clean and not too oily. Dec 2025. Happy to report that On Dong is still the best spot for jajamien and jambong! Taste is same. I'm from LA Ktown and years ago there was a very popular Chinese Korean restaurant named "Mandarin House" on 8th street in Ktown and the flavors of the jajamien, jambong and chicken fried rice at On Dong are nearly identical to Mandarin House! In LA, Mandarin House was the gold standard. Service is 5 stars! Ambience is 4 stars for what it is! You are not coming here for the ambience or service tho. This spot is all about the food. And the food makes up for everything and anything else. "Hole in the wall" but it's not really since it's just old but very clean and well maintained to be true hole in the wall. My boyfriend and I were craving noodles and took to Yelp to find a restaurant. We decided on this place since the food looking amazing in the pictures. This is small restaurant on King Street. The tables were all filled but we only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. The workers were so effective and quick to make sure everyone got their order. I ordered the Jjamppong and it was INCREDIBLE. The broth was so flavorful and the noodles were perfectly bouncy. I'd come back just to have this meal again. My boyfriend ordered the Jajangmyeon and he said it was delicious! Most of the other tables ordered this as well. We decided to get the sweet and sour pork as well. I came here for the jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) because I've had it before and I enjoy it! We got that and the sweet and sour pork. I like their sweet and sour pork because there's not a lot of tendon or other parts when you're eating it. Usually when I eat any pork, there's other parts that get chewy but this one felt like mostly meat for all the parts so that was good. It was nicely fried as well. Atmosphere - Good, classic chinese (it's a Korean Chinese restaurant) looking kind of place. They had tables and chairs but also booth seats. Service - Our server was nice and checked in with us. If you need anything you can just wave them down as well and they'll come. They are hustling so they move fast and get you what you need. Cost - We got jajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork so with tip, it was around $45. You get your usual banchan as well which is kimchi, the raw onion with the paste and I think they had the yellow pickled radish as well if not the yellow then the pickled white (getting my food places confused). Parking - They have a small lot in the back which is paid parking. Since we came after 6pm, we just did the metered street parking (don't pay afterwards, read the signs) so it was easy. Location - Entrance to the restaurant is on King Street, there's no entrance from the back or parking lot area. Haven't been here in a while, but their jajangmyeon is still delicious! It comes with vinegar daikon, onions, and one of the best kimchees I've tasted. My husband ordered their special kung pao chicken and it was exactly how I remember it-spicy and crispy. I tried their spicy seafood soup (janpon?) before, and it's filling and just as good as their jajangmyeon. I usually pick up orders for my mom, and the ladies were somewhat friendly. The prices are reasonable and friendly service. They refill our banchan and waters. There were four of us. We also order their pork and chives and tangsukyuk. Here is an update on the review explaining what I meant. The order was Chinese food for tonight from 3 places. (i.e. I was ordering from 3 different places). There were people that like "fake" Chinese AKA Panda - but they know what they like so this was an easy order. (AKA means also know as - this was PANDA EXPRESS that was "americanized and fake). - the rest of the review that follows - regarding On Dong #1 - it was one of the places I frequented so I am very familiar with the food. #2 - I was overcharged OR the prices went up a lot. #3 - The food was not up to their standard. In fact, it was prepared incorrectly. #4 - I am not saying On Dong is "fake". That first sentence about Panda stands alone. That's why there is a period on the end. BTW, just because something might be "fake" doesn't mean it doesn't taste good. -- the rest as follows The second place was On Dong Chinese restaurant which is more "Korean" than Chinese but has made some good food in the past. We took a look at the menu on their website and ordered 2 orders each Spicy chicken and a Pork dish. I was designated to pick up the food. As I went in, I heard them say $95.. I figured, can't be mine. Then as the register was wrung, I saw $69 (remember this number!!!!). More like it. However, when I went to pay, yep, it was slightly over $95. WOW. This place used to be pretty affordable. Since I didn't do the order, I just paid and asked my wife to call and check. She called them and referenced their prices on their website and was told "oh that's long time ago". Uh...... Man, these places need to fix their websites! For example: Sweet Sour Pork - $16.95 on their website and another chicken dish - $17.95. Wait. $16.95 + $17.95 = $34.9 Two orders of each (34.9 * 2) = $69.8 - remember the $69???? SOMETHING IS SUSPICIOUS THEY OVERCHARGED ME $26!!!!! OK, so now, this affordable place has raised their prices too much OR overcharged me on purpose. In addition, the spicy chicken was not the usual way they make it. It looked very plain and didn't have the great taste that they are known for. We figured out why later. They forgot to put the sauce over the chicken for both orders! In addition, the food was light! You know local people, the food has to have some weight! It was less than we usually got before so I know something is wrong. I usually don't like taking out because it seems like they give less in general. Maybe something changed, but at those prices, there are a lot of more affordable places. And if I pay that much, there are a lot of other places I'd rather go to. We went to the 3rd place which was more "authentic" and I kid you not, 2 orders that cost almost a third of On Dong, was twice as heavy as the 4 orders. Maybe the weight is one of the determining factors of Chinese food? (Just joking). OMG - my wife pointed out, that right on the Yelp page, it says Sweet and Sour pork - $16.95! We usually have the jjajangmyeon here, which is very good. However, I remember my wife ordering a noodle soup for me once, which I really enjoyed. She doesn't refer to the menu, she just orders what she knows they have. I arrived here after work on Friday, hoping to get reacquainted with that mystery noodle soup. My first time ordering off the menu, so I picked the most likely candidate, "NOODLES WITH SEAFOOD & SOUP." I asked the server what the name of the soup was in Korean - "samseon-myeon." It seemed like what I had before, but I think my wife had ordered a separate, special sauce to mix in, which enhanced the flavor. I wasn't able to recreate my original experience, but it was still pretty good. For comparison, I ordered a second dish, "NOODLES WITH SPICY SOUP & SEAFOOD" - "jjamppong" in Korean. This was clearly not what I had before, but I enjoyed it even more than the samseon-myeon. The combination of noodles and seafood in the rich, savory broth needed no enhancement. This is my grandma's favorite black bean noodle (jjajangmyeon) spot on Oahu, and mine! This speaks volumes because my halmoni is very picky about what she likes, but once she finds a decent place she remains loyal for life. [Ambiance] On Dong is a Chinese-Korean fusion restaurant. There is a paid parking lot behind and metered street parking all around. Certain times of the day, and certain days, the street parking is free. My all time favorite Chinese Korean restaurant!! I have been to other Chinese Korean restaurants in town, but nothing beats this place. They offer the best service and the best food, and their parking is fairly easy (located behind the restraint). We went late at night so we did not pay for parking, however, there is a QR code and kiosk located in the parking lot where you can pay -- if you do takeout, there is a 20 minute grace period for parking. It's a casual place, so feel free to dress down :) I love the aunties there.
