Stopped in for a late lunch. We ordered the BBQ for two. It came out excellent. The ribs were meaty without being fatty. The chicken was moist and well done as was the Brisket. Moist and meaty without being fatty. The fries and beans topped it off. Our server LIZZY did a fine job taking care of us. Was very professional and friendly. Decided on Bandana's after hitting 2 other nearby barbecue joints, neither of which had a smoker on site so the smell of smoke was a welcome one. Dining area is dated but clean. Has the look of a place that has to survive on good food as you are not visiting for the ambiance. Unfortunately the barbecue itself was very average to slightly below average. Dry, slightly overcooked brisket, pulled pork was also dry and lacked much flavor. Burnt ends were really good, garlic bread is good and loved the green beans which had some sort of Indian spice to them that I loved. 5 different barbecue sauces which is good because the meat won't stand on its own and needs to be thoroughly sauced up. read more

Not bad as far as franchise BBQ places go. It is a solid choice. The food is good and the service is great. The restaurant is nice but can get a little loud at times. Went here recently and ordered a turkey sandwich, I looked on the inside, to of the driest, and smallest pieces of turkey, I order mac n cheese, one bite it was gone, there's probably less than a table spoon of it in the bowl, all of that was 20 dollars, not worth it. I was in Jefferson City today for an appointment and wanted to try some different place for lunch. We stopped here right when then opened at 11am. Greeted warmly taken to a booth on the west side of the restaurant. We ordered drinks, waitress was right there. I ordered the brisket pulled pork plate with beans and baked potato. Food came out fast. Great taste of every bit of the plate, came w two pieces of Texas toast. The variety of sauces, sweet spicy, Chicago sweet spicy, Kansas City bbq sauces were my favorites. They were perfect not to sweet with the right balance of spices. I had to have sweet tea with a bit of lemonade which was very sweet but quenched my thirst. I took a star away because when we were ready to pay we could not find the waitress! We found ourselves to go boxes next to our booth so we helped ourselves. The waitress did offer our drinks to go and brought a small container for the baked beans. Jefferson City definitely offers way better BBQ than this. I've been to this location more than once due to others wanting to try it and it hasn't improved. The service is decent. The menu offers a fair amount of choices but I have not found anything that stands out as delicious or even gives me a reason to go on my own. The prices are reasonable and they are family friendly. Finally some good ribs! Tender, meaty and juicy with the right amount of crispiness burntness on the edges and ends. The sides take a backseat to the main course ribs and that garlic toast - melt in your mouth. I got potato salad and baked beans for sides... meh! That just left more room for the ribs. I love how I could get a couple of different sauces to top off the already amazing smokey flavor of the ribs. I'll be back while in town. read more

Great food. I'm use to going to Gates when I'm here KC but we tried this place. Totally like it. I had the smoked beef. The fried okra with ranch is must try. The Potato salad was pretty good. Went last night (1/05/23) with a group of 6. Our server was excellent ; kept drinks fresh, check came quickly so we did not have to wait, etc. The food came quickly and was fresh and hot where appropriate even with orders ranging from ribs to fish, chicken and an appetizer as a main. They were also able meet my request for a substitution. The manager stopped to see if we had needs as well as another staff member checking on us as they went by. Had a lovely time there. There's a lot of platters to pick from, but I chose the standard chicken platter with potato salad and beans. Bandana's doesn't skimp on their sugar or flavor. The beans were excellent grill style, and the potato salad was flavorful and just right. The garlic bread should honestly be illegal. It's stupidly good and kind of makes me mad that they made something so addicting. I'm more about sides than meat, just to be honest. The chicken was good too, and out of the 3 sauces to pick from I enjoyed the Chicago Sweet Style the most. They also offer KC Style and a standard spicy sauce. I ordered a side of Brunswick stew, and this is where I really felt nostalgic. The flavors were spot on. Over the last couple of weeks, my wife and I visited once then I came back with a buddy. Both times everything was perfect! Great service, clean bathrooms and dining area, amazing sauces and phenomenal ribs! And the bread, oh my goodness! Coleslaw is one of my favorites and Bandana's does it well. The fried okra and green beans are also really good sides. Also, make sure you request the spicy mustard BBQ sauce. You'll be glad you did. I am impressed at the consistency of quality at Bandana's, which thus far surpasses just about every local establishment with the exception of The Grand Cafe or maybe Jimmy Johns and Firehouse Subs. It's nothing special. I feel like it's something I could get just about anywhere. I had the beef and pork plate. It was alright. Not bad. Not Great. The portions are very large, and decently priced. I really liked the different sauces you could choose from. My favorite is the Smoky sauce. I would not try the original Bandanas sauce, it's pretty gross. It's a light brown sauce, and looks a little like poo. I definitely wouldn't recommend that one. The service was ok. Not outstanding. I wouldn't go back and ask for the same server. I am usually very picky when it comes to my bbq, especially pulled pork sandwiches. They can sometimes be too fatty and not flavorful. Well Bandana's sure knows how to cook an excellent pork sandwich. It was so moist, tender and not fatty at all. The different bbq sauces were very tasty as well. I was at first a little truned off by this place b/c it doesn't look the part of a good bbq place...but looks were definitely deceiving (though I could have done away with our waitress who had a slight attitude) The 3 people I were with had the ribs and they ate every single bite. Upon walking in I noticed a bunch of trophies for best wings so I felt obligated to give them try and I was not disappointed Great Wings , lot of meat . Friendly service as well , However me and my wife was not thrilled with the BBQ chicken nachos , they were over drenched with sauce to the point that it wasn't enjoyable , also lacked chicken and cheese . We frequently visit Bandanas at the Lake of the Ozarks, but decided to try this one on our drive back to Iowa. We have been to others before as well but none have been as good as the one at the Lake. Well...this one proved me wrong. It was just as good as the one at the Lake, maybe faster and bigger portions of food too! Service was stellar, food came out fast, hot and fresh, and everyone was very friendly! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good BBQ in Jeff City!!! Not sure what really took place here. This was my second ever trip to a Bandana's and was far from impressed. The food was mediocre at best and was nothing to write home about. It did however come out very quickly and the service was really good! That being said, I felt like I was walking onto the set of Robert Irvine's "Restaurant Impossible." The theming was outdated and covered in dust. There were Christmas lights used around ropes that spelled Bandana's on the wall that I felt like were temporary put up 5 years ago. The first time we had them they were freshly cooked it seemed and the last time it was pre- portioned microwaved crap.
