Bandido coffee is a must try when in the five points area. If you're a fan of Mexican pastries/sweets then you'll love everything here as the milk drinks are based on them and they have pan dulce. They also have breakfast items such as croissants or toasts. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant that had some melted cheesy goodness with a soft and flaky croissant. The latte I ordered was perfectly balanced and a good pick me up on a rainy day. I loved the decor with various twists on famous paintings, stickers, skulls etc. it's not a place I would come to study as the playlist is a little loud albeit a great one. It's a hangout spot though. The baristas are friendly and helpful with the menu too. This is a local place I will continue to support!

Best to ever do it. RIP king.

Not sure why it took me so long to try this place, but now I have and I feel like I've been missing out! Tucked away in a little nook in 5 Points south, this place is small and punching above it's weight. Super friendly people, nice decor, and a great beverage menu that includes some real gems like their Horchata Latte. Get in there and order one of those right away. A few spots to sit outside and a few inside. Super clean. Quick. Solid espresso. Nice overall vibes. Will definitely return.

The scenery on the inside is very cute! I ordered off the winter menu and got the sugar coffee espresso ice coffee. It was delicious. I also ordered the ham and cheese croissant. It's pretty big which was nice but I didn't enjoy it as much as my coffee. The servers were kind and efficient with getting orders out. I would definitely visit again! They also have free WiFi if you want to sit and do work.

A friend suggested meeting up here on a Saturday morning. I was excited since I've had this coffee shop bookmarked. Parking was kinda challenging but it didn't take me too long to locate a spot. This is a cute , hip little coffee shop. I felt a little tight inside since it was crowded. My friends and I ordered and then found seating outside. I love the outdoor seating space.... It's so cute! The staff were all working hard and they were friendly. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a black coffee. I enjoyed my selection but I just wish the sandwich had been hotter. My friends enjoyed their drinks and food also. I plan to return soon!

Great coffee shop in downtown, with great staff and a great menu. It's hard to find a coffee shop that actually stands out as unique but this is the place!!! Pros: - coffee is amazing - great specials - great food & pastries - nice interior - outdoor seating - horchata latte Cons: - hard to find parking - very expensive ($7 per latte, $8 pastry) Love

Stumbled upon this coffee shop when I was looking for a new place to try in town and boy am I glad I did! This Latin inspired coffee shop has plenty of Mexican lattes to choose from. I got the mama coco which is coconut with chocolate abuelita (Mexican hot chocolate) which was delicious! I didn't feel the coconut flavor too strongly but I grew up drinking this and it was nostalgic to have it in latte form. They have plenty of food and pastries to pick from. Inside there are a few tables to pick from. Will definitely be back!

i went in yesterday for the first time, it was a 10/10 experience! i will definitely be going back, staff was super kind and helpful. The match drink was perfect!

    Vibes

Cool and chill spot. Aesthetic for sure and in a cute area for vibes suggests parking a little further and getting a nice walk to the spot. But def super friendly staff. Also some good a** coffee. Also pastries add a little heaven and culture. I love it! Viva La Mexico!

When I arrived, there was no one in sight, but the ambience was just right. It really gave that a hole in the wall. If you know you know type of café coffee was just simply delicious. They do the coffee just the way you like it. The service is also very welcoming. Everyone was so kind in there. I highly recommend for a quick coffee pick up if you just wanna show a friend sit down and lounge tons of outdoor and indoor seating.

Very good coffee and the service was amazing! The alley way to get to the shop is very aesthetic and I definitely recommend stopping by.

not really a coffee drinker but i absolutely love their coffee! so far i've tried the horchata latte as well as the mark cuban. overall, i enjoy stopping by this little coffee shop whenever i need a space to work from downtown. its small and kinda hidden, so i like that its never too crowded. also, i love that they stick to their hispanic heritage when it comes to the menu items and music. 10/10 would recommend!

There wasn't line when we got there but the crowd usually follows us for some reason so by the time we left there was standing room only and a line out the door. The bakery items were very fresh and tasty. I loved the Swedish gingerbread cookies - light and crisp. The lemon bar was delicious. They also have sandwiches that liked really good. Coffee - I got a vanilla latte extra sweet (no lavender) and my daughter said it was one of the best. I thought it was pretty good. I would go again when back in Birmingham!

The young girl making the coffee was loudly talking about someone who messed up their coffee order this morning and how frustrated she was. The only other employee was occupied with what seemed a large order of bread etc. When she finished what she was doing she looked at the now five customers, claustrophobically waiting, and said I'll be right back and disappeared. Leaving the one guy serving the one customer. It was 11:30 am on a rainy day. Figured I could do without a cream cheese croissant and coffee and left. Had already waited 5 as the only other person in there and did not want to wait another undetermined amount of time. I know one of the bakers. It's a shame the front has been so bad these last two times.

The space itself is beautiful--clean, intentional, and unique--with visual nods to milling and baking traditions. You can see elements of the mill and wheat motifs in the background, which adds a quiet sense of craftsmanship and history without feeling staged. The pastries are exceptional. Their croissants are perfectly flaky and buttery, the sourdough is deeply flavorful, and the morning buns strike that ideal balance of richness and warmth. The baguette is crisp on the outside, tender inside--everything you want it to be. Every item feels carefully made, never rushed. What stands out most is the consistency and care. Breadworks manages to feel elevated yet welcoming--refined without being pretentious. It's clear they take pride in both their craft and their process, and it shows in every bite. A true standout in Birmingham and absolutely worth returning to.

Soon as you walk in, you see packaged desserts in both full cakes and slices. They had several King Cakes, so we immediately decided to split a slice. Decided that first before what we're actually eating. #priorities Last time I ate here, I got the Chicken Quesadilla and it was so good. But a couple of my coworkers got the Marilyn Monroe, a sandwich with "turkey, pepperoni, mozzarella & marinara sauce on cheddar bread". So I went with that this time, same as my coworker. Concept here is that you order at the counter, they give you a number to display on your table, then another server will bring your order. Service was fast. The sandwich looked a bit small at first, but it was stacked with turkey and pepperoni, so the portion size was actually just right. It comes with marinara sauce on the side for dipping, which is good, because it keeps the sandwich from being too messy, but it was a bit odd because it was cold, in combination with the warm sandwich. I kinda wish the sauce had been warmer. It comes with a bag of chips and your choice of another side, which I chose fruit. I don't care for melon, so I picked around that and ate the grapes out. Next time I might get another side. And finally... it was King Cake time. We had picked a cream cheese slice and it was SO good. Had a cinnamon taste mixed in, but to be fair, this was my first King Cake so I actually have no idea what to compare it to. This dessert made me so happy. Two things I need to figure out: why is this sandwich called the Marilyn Monroe and when can we eat here again.
