I will say parking was a bit of a pain. I cheated and parked at Chick fil a but I don't think that would've worked if I'd stayed for more than enough time to order and go. Fortunately I was in and out fairly quickly. That said, if I lived in the area, I'd love to hang out for a while. The atmosphere is just perfect. Cool, a tiny bit punk rock, great music, powerful air conditioning, fun stickers and stuff on the tables for local bands, breweries, and celebration of immigrants. Service was super sweet and working diligently. The barista who spoke with me answered my questions happily and made great recommendations. I ordered an iced horchata latte for myself, an iced chocolate Abuelita for my dad, and a chocolate concha to take home to my husband. Our drinks came out quickly and we were on our way. She warmed up the concha without asking, which wound up not being necessary but would've been appreciated had I eaten it immediately. My iced drink was a little over-full and did squeeze out some when I stuck a straw in. Sticky! No big deal, we had wet wipes in the car. The horchata latte was perfection. Sweet, creamy, strong cinnamon and coffee flavors. Exactly how I imagined it would be! My dad said he felt the chocolate Abuelita was a little light on coffee flavor but he rarely drinks iced coffee or "fancy coffee," so YMMV. Should I be judging a coffee shop on their matcha? I don't know. Maybe not. But I was pretty unimpressed. Only way I knew matcha was in there is bc it was green. I'm always willing to try again of course. They were also super busy ... but with the amount of people behind the counter, you'd think they could dole out 2 matcha lattes in less than 20mins. We are Californians who have a treasure trove of coffee shops at home who decided to visit a local small business vs visiting the large brand coffee shops while in BHM. 1: Esthetic - welcoming open space, stickers on tables, nice wall art. There was a lot of students studying there the day we stopped by. 2: Customer Service- 10/10, the owner was friendly and welcoming. 3: Coffee: Mazapan Latte - I give it a 6/10 . In their defense, I think the young lady that made the drink probably over saturated the drink with oatmilk, because that's all I tasted. I should've tasted it before I left, but I didn't & that's my fault. 4: Location - great location on a busy intersection. Good foot traffic and close to UAB. 5: You have to pay to park and it's a busy intersection. We were lucky and found parking right out front. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by again and trying something new. read more

I've only been here once, but really enjoyed it. The vibe is very cool. Love the decor and the staff are very friendly. I asked for a recommendation (barista suggested the horchata latte) and it was fantastic. The only negative I can muster is that as far as I could tell, the lattes only come in one size and it is SMALL for the price. The quality is definitely there though. read more

Fantastic coffee shop right on the circle in 5 Points South! I had the horchata iced latte, which was outstanding. The staff is super nice, the music they were playing was very good. There's tons of seating inside and several tables outside. I believe I heard the owners are gearing up to open a food spot right next door. I'll be a regular if there's a breakfast burrito involved. Bandido coffee is a must try when in the five points area. If you're a fan of Mexican pastries/sweets then you'll love everything here as the milk drinks are based on them and they have pan dulce. They also have breakfast items such as croissants or toasts. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant that had some melted cheesy goodness with a soft and flaky croissant. The latte I ordered was perfectly balanced and a good pick me up on a rainy day. I loved the decor with various twists on famous paintings, stickers, skulls etc. it's not a place I would come to study as the playlist is a little loud albeit a great one. Read and seen several reviews so looked forward to trying Bandido out. Sunday 10 AM not a single pastry left other food items were on the menu. My friend had the Avocado Toast (good, nothing fancy) and a SF latte with Oat milk. I had a warm Chai Tea Latte with Oat milk (non fat milk was not an option). All milk alternative are $1 more per drink. The chai flavor was very light being more milk forward. The total was $24 and some change. A little on the high side in my opinion. Atmosphere is cute and a very clean place. Staff were nice and the service was fairly quick with the steady traffic. Might try again another time. read more

Tucked away in a little nook in 5 Points south, this place is small and punching above it's weight. Super friendly people, nice decor, and a great beverage menu that includes some real gems like their Horchata Latte. Get in there and order one of those right away. The scenery on the inside is very cute! I ordered off the winter menu and got the sugar coffee espresso ice coffee. It was delicious. I also ordered the ham and cheese croissant. It's pretty big which was nice but I didn't enjoy it as much as my coffee. The servers were kind and efficient with getting orders out. I would definitely visit again! A friend suggested meeting up here on a Saturday morning. I was excited since I've had this coffee shop bookmarked. Parking was kinda challenging but it didn't take me too long to locate a spot. This is a cute , hip little coffee shop. I felt a little tight inside since it was crowded. My friends and I ordered and then found seating outside. I love the outdoor seating space.... It's so cute! I got their popular horchata latte and it was delicious! It was only 2 ladies upfront serving on a Sunday, but they held it down and were very nice and attentive. I would say that my mom and I both got hot drinks and they were pretty warm almost on the cooler side so I'd tell them next time to make it a bit hotter. Stumbled upon this coffee shop when I was looking for a new place to try in town and boy am I glad I did! This Latin inspired coffee shop has plenty of Mexican lattes to choose from. I got the mama coco which is coconut with chocolate abuelita (Mexican hot chocolate) which was delicious! I didn't feel the coconut flavor too strongly but I grew up drinking this and it was nostalgic to have it in latte form. They have plenty of food and pastries to pick from.
