We made reservations months in advance for both the Wheelhouse and Crow's Nest, only to be told upon arrival that it would be at least an hour before we could be served because of a large private party. While I understand that special events happen, I don't understand why customers with confirmed reservations should be expected to wait an additional hour. If the restaurant knew a large party would affect seating, they should have either limited reservations for that time or notified guests in advance so they could make other plans. We specifically reserved well ahead of time to avoid this kind of situation, so it was very disappointing. We left feeling frustrated and that our reservations simply weren't honored. I hope management reviews how reservations are handled when large events are scheduled so future guests don't have the same experience. read more

We really enjoyed ourselves here. 3rd night of our Oregon & Washington roadtrip, we barely ate all day and we were hungry! Their waitstaff was great and they had plenty of good options on the menu. We enjoyed our cocktails, appetizers, and entrees very much. The calamari was well fried and was served with a delicious green dipping sauce. The seafood linguine had plenty of seafood in it, a big deal (once had a huge pasta served with only 4 med shrimp lol), the scallops were perfect and not a single grain of sand! Amazing prep, honestly. Crab cocktail and crab Louie both served with a good portion of crab! The bread was delicious, especially the cranberry bread! I asked if they sold it! Another amazing recommendation from the staff at THE BANDON INN. We came in for a late dinner and and after reading reviews we didn't have any high expectations. But boy were we surprised! We were greeted immediately and sat. The vibe was a casual seaside home feel. Our server,Bethany, was such a delight! She was incredibly friendly and polite. She took our drink order and have us time to go over the specials and menu. My husband opted for the pork chop dinner and had a salad and clam chowder. They bright out some warm bread, which was delightful! (Especially the cranberry bread!) The pork chop was moist and flavorful. Great portions. And the clam chowder was thick and delicious! There's a great menu selection. And they had a big dessert menu, which we ordered and opted to take back to the hotel with us. Everything was great! We were enjoying Old Town Bandon and chose The Wheelhouse for a quick lunch of clam chowder. It was a nice and casual place with good service. It has the ambience of having lunch at a friend's house. They, also, have a room upstairs for dinner that is pretty plain but has a view of the port so we made plans to return for dinner. Dinner was excellent from start to end. The salad was even stand out with a flavorful homemade balsamic honey vinaigrette. The shrimp skewers and scallops were cooked perfectly and delicious. The side of green beans, peppers and onion was a standout favorite. Nicole was our server and was excellent. She was alone for the first part of dinner and kept all tables serviced with a smile while being the bartender, as well. She is definitely a big part of why this was a good experience. I recommend The Wheelhouse. The food and service is fantastic. The only suggestion is that I would add a vegetarian/vegan meal to the menu for diners who do not eat meat. read more

Solid local restaurant with many menu options. Our table in the diving room had beautiful views of the ocean (despite the rain). We didn't get up to the crows nest but heard that was a great place for views. I chose grilled shrimp on a skewer for my meal and rice as my side. The meal came with bread for the table and a starter salad. I loved the honey vinaigrette dressing served with it. The shrimp was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their choices. Service was excellent. We were really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, our experience was a letdown. We first asked if we could place a to-go order, and were told flat-out no, without any explanation. A bit surprising, but we figured maybe they were short-staffed or having a busy moment, so we asked instead if we could dine in, but were completely ignored. No acknowledgment, no response, just... nothing. We're not going to jump to conclusions about why we were treated that way, but the whole situation left us feeling really awkward and disregarded. It's a shame, because we were genuinely excited to try the food. We had reservations for the Crows nest. Great spot for dinner with friends. We shared a bottle of wine. The breadbasket had a wonderful and warm cranberry bread. I ordered clam chowder, a little salty but delicious. And the Wheelhouse salad: greens with bay shrimp and honey dressing. Yumm!! Our waiter took away my salad with food still on the plate ...I literally had my fork in my hand and food in my mouth when he snatched my plate. The cream sauce on the crab tasted like it was only milk and cornstarch, vegetables were boiled to death ...and the vinaigrette was the consistency of gel toothpaste. The service is outstanding. We wanted oyster shooters but did not see them on the menu. Our server was more than happy to make us some. Our waters were never empty and someone is constantly walking around busing dishes so your table stays clean. They serve a citrus water. The rockfish po boy was my favorite meal I had in Bandon. My daughter who doesn't like fish actually asked me if she could have some of my sandwich because she loved it! The bread was fresh and the fish was flavorful and not greasy! It was crispy on the outside but flaky on the inside. The clam chowder was nice on a rainy day but I found it to need a little more in the flavor department. It has a nice ambiance on a cold rainy day. You can look at the water and watch the boats. It is rather cold inside. Bring a jacket so you can enjoy your meal without shivering. read more

Accidentally stumbled in for lunch and I'm happy we did. Originally from Louisiana so I couldn't help but notice the note on the menu stating the chef is from Louisiana as well. I was excited to maybe have found a little flame from home all random on the Oregon coast. While it's not advertised as Cajun I found on the menu The Wheelhouse Cajun Seafood Grill it consisted of prawns, sea Scallops and Andouille Sausage with a kick of Louisiana flavors. Recommend the chef offers a home made vinaigrette, it isn't expensive and would elevate the salad. Also, the mix of greens was good and fresh, but watch the large chunks of iceberg lettuce . The crepes were good, there was a lot of liquid in the dish, but it was absorbed by the crepes as it cooled. Also, nice lumps of crab meat and very cheesy. It seemed unnecessary to have a side starch with the crepes, but it works. The sautéed veggies were crisp and flavorful. The jambalaya rice was dry, but good flavor. Everything was at the correct temperature. Speaking with the hotel concierge afterwards, she said that the restaurant is consistent in its food and very popular. I went an hour before closing alone. My service was so friendly and so fast! I was so pleased. My food was delicious and be aware portions are big! I had pasta for two days after that haha. Scallops were cooked to perfection and the cream sauce they tossed the linguine and scallops in would make you want to take a bath in it. Highly recommend when you're swinging through Bandon. It's also one of the very few places with somewhat normal hours that stays open until 9. Most other places are closed or you get bar food :-/ read more

The food is consistent " every plate " absolutely wonderful. From the little side dish to the main course, you can count on wonderful top-notch food. The service is wonderful. They are so polite and feel free to ask if you can have a little extra this or a little extra that they are more than willing. I love to sit in the back and take it all in. You can still see out the windows to our wonderful boardwalk and boat basin. If you sit in the back, you can also take in the restaurant itself. It's a very well, lit Restaurant easy convenience where you can be seated in chairs or booth whichever you prefer. We don't get halibut very often at home, so I was thrilled to be able to order the citrus grilled halibut. it didn't taste like citrus at all, but rather was very heavily salted, too much so. The mashed potatoes were yummy as was the medley of fresh crunchy veggies that came with it. We started with clam chowder which had an odd, almost gummy texture. Excellent dinner in Bandon. We had a fabulous dinner at The Wheelhouse with a beautiful view of the wharf. Yummy breads to start. One was soft warm cranberry white bread and of course, sourdough. Lovely salad with a honey vinaigrette (I bought a bottle to take home because I liked it so well) I had coconut crusted rock fish and my husband had citrus herb halibut. The coconut gave the rockfish a slight sweet flavor that was awesome with the fresh mango salsa. Enjoyed dessert as a treat for our Anniversary- I had panna cotta with fresh raspberry sauce (they called it a raspberry cream) and he had a huge bread pudding with a rich bourbon sauce.
