The food at the Bandon Bait Shop is delicious as always .On top of that, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. It's a great place to grab a bite and enjoy the view. 10/10

Best fish and chips and chowder we had on our trip to Bandon, Gold Beach and Brookings. Service is great. Staff was friendly and helpful and remembered us when we returned for round two! Breading is light and not greasy. They have fresh lemons which I love with my seafood. Chowder is creamy and perfect flavor. Try this unsuspecting place for your next favorite lunch or dinner. It is a walk up counter to order the food. You can take to go or they have several picnic tables outside that are protected from the wind. Close to the waterfront. Food came out quickly too.

All ashore going ashore! If you're looking for tasty fish & chips, Bandon Bait is a must! Let's start with the man with piercing blue eyes who will take your order. He's super nice, and is happy to recommend items from their menu. The menu has a variety of items from shrimp, to frog legs. All can be fried/come fried. We both ordered the fish n chips. The fish is freshly caught, and is flaky, tasty, and just yum. The fish definitely could've used some seasoning, or a little bit more seasoning. The crust is more of a cornmeal, and I'm still that deep fried kind of girl. It was still very tasty. To the point that while I asked for extra tartar sauce, it really did not need it. I did ask for some malt vinegar which is not the norm for this location, and I was given packets of Heinz mulch vinegar. Not a great product to begin with, and I definitely did not help with the fish experience Once you order at the counter, you go grab your own seat, wherever you can find one, and they will find you and bring you your food. The foods reasonably priced, generous servings, and you'll see why they are always busy. Always. Now you may be asking yourself about the bait part of this location... Since they're literally right by the water, people do come in and purchase bait and other things and go fishing themselves. It just works. Parking is free, but definitely you need to be patient when looking for it. The parking lot serves numerous businesses in the area, once you're parked, you're gonna want to walk through the cute little village, visit the stores, etc. Great food, great service, and a great experience!

We ordered the cod and halibut fish & chips.

Best fish and chips. It's not greasy at all. They don't smother the fish in batter. They use a seasoning that lightly coats the fish. The halibut is delicious with a lemon seasoning. I almost forgot to mention the have delicious cocktail sauce.

The restaurant itself is small, clean, with a good amount of seating. We came in when the machine was broken so they only took cash. Thankfully, there's an ATM in the Bandon cafe down the street so it wasn't much of an issue. I ordered the dungeness crab and shrimp sandwich at market price which was around $21. A little pricey for a sandwich, but worth it. The sandwich was packed to the brim with fresh crab and shrimp. You have the option of coleslaw or fries. I chose the fries which were fresh and flavorful with a nice crunch. The sandwich was extremely filling and can easily be split between 2 people. I'm tempted to come back again one day to try their fish and chips and clam chowder as well.

Not terrible. Everything came piping hot except the coleslaw it was chilled. The batter was a little thicker than I prefer and even cooked to a deep brown (not burnt) there were clumps against the fish that was still uncooked doughy batter. The batter had interesting seasoning that was a bit on the sweet side but overall tasty. Six big nuggets of fish. I forgot to get a picture right away but pulled two out. Lots of fries. Under seasoned but for health reasons of various people that is understandable. Coleslaw was not bad, had dried cranberries which was different. Not bad but not life changing. Overall a good meal.

I opted for the fish tacos and boy they did not disappoint. Lightly fried tortilla and fresh fish with plenty of cabbage and onions and cilantro. While I was eating a few kids came in with their parents and the man who greeted me, bright or a crab and was giving the kids a lesson about crabs. They were so enthralled and I lived hearing their little voices asking questions. What an amazing local experience. Great job!!

One half looked like a low rent tourist shop and the other half was a tiny window and only a few spots to sit. Definitely not what I was expecting. The fish looked like cat food, all chopped up and mixed in with the cabbage and cream that tasted so much like mayo I thought I was served tuna salad for a second. They were then served on the most anemic looking tortillas ever with the blandest pico de gallo ever. No salt, all mayo flavor. Tacos like this are why people say there aren't any good tacos in Oregon. The staff was ok I guess, however when I was a little confused on the menu the kid behind the counter smirked and talked to me like I was 5 instead of just answering my question. When I asked for no feta cheese on my gyro she informed me that it was also in the tzatziki (I really appreciated the heads up) and she also clarified if this was a food allergy or preference (I appreciate her concern in the case that this was an allergy to dairy). She was also quick with bringing me ketchup and hot sauce and anything else I asked for. She really made both meals excellent :) The food was just as good as the service! My Traditional Breakfast really hit the spot! Thanks again to Kat for recommending the bacon. My gyro was a little plain, because I got mine without cheese and tzatziki. BUT the chicken was super flavorful and the veggies were fresh and crispy. I added a splash of lime juice and this was perfect for me. And I must say these are some of the BEST French fries I've ever had!! I'm not sure if they're considered double fried or beer battered (?) but it is definitely worth the $3 upgrade to get them! I only wish they would just put the dang bottle of ketchup on the table instead of bringing it to you in a small metal cup (which they did at both meals). Odd policy IMO; seems like it makes more work for the servers. But that is a very small complaint for an overall very great restaurant!

My waitress was very attentive and seemed to generally care whether I was enjoying my meal. Since I dining alone, and it is a small dining area, I was especially impressed that they gave me the window view seat that I had requested even though the table for four was being used by just one person, me. I even had a view of the fire pit which they had turned on outside, which offered additional ambience. Although the beet salad was amazingly delicious I think basically one beet (1/2 red and 1/2 yellow) for $14 was a little steep. The timing between the appetizer, salad, and main dish was perfect. Be sure to make a reservation. Enjoy!
