They tricked me into a monthly plan saying that I would save all this money if I made monthly payments for $52.99 for an entire year (BTW it doesn't cover the costs of certain treatments such as heartworm, etc.) A year later my plan "auto renewed" which I did not authorize. I would NEVER sign up for anything like that to auto renew every year. The scamming got worse from there. After billing my card $52.99 a month for a year they called me on the same day that I had signed up 365 days ago (the 10th of this month) and said my dog was due for his checkup. They scheculed his visit 2 days later. Little did I know that they did this to lock me in the forever plan that bills my card $52.99 a month for a whole nother year. I called Banfield and they told me that my plan had auto renewed on the 10th and that all the work they did on the 12th ammounted to $634.85 (regular comprehensive check up - what a rip off). They explained that if I cancel the plan that I never signed up for I would have to pay the $634.85. Basically they EXTORTED me out of another year of being billed $52.99 a month. Unacceptable, crooked, unethical, and potentially illegal. They don't care about pets. They just want to RIP YOU OFF and trick you into these deceptive plans. Not only did they want to completely re-vaccinate my puppy who had already been vaccinated, they then locked me into a year long contact, which upon canceling the next day, I found out I would still have to PAY MONTHLY NEARLY 100$ for their incompetent, border-line negligent pet services. I scheduled a visit for my dog's infected left eye that is not better with antibiotic eye drop and artificial tear drop. The vet recommended a test to test for her tear production because she said dry eyes can cause ulcer. The treatment for dry eyes is just artificial tear drop and the treatment for ulcer is antibiotic. As a physician myself, I don't see the point of doing the tear production test and want to focus on fixing the infection first and look for underlying source later. I had to talk through a vet tech. I went back to see the vet when I saw my dog's eye was so bad and the receptionist told me to drive back. Then the dog refused to come out to see the vet even if I wait outside and asked me to come back for another appointment. So I had to take my dog home with this very uncomfortable infected eye. As time went on, it felt more like they were trying to sell us every time we went in and would quote us astronomical prices on things even tho we were on the monthly plan. It got old fast. One of my dogs got sick and they quoted me $1800 and said we needed to do all of it because if we didn't my kids would get sick. I was extremely startled because my kids are little but ended up getting a nausea shot and my dog was fine. Later on, I called and asked why they involved my children's health into this and they said the only way my kids could get sick if they were playing in my dogs poop. Do you have an AMAZING vet? Well, I do! A HUGE heartfelt THANK YOU to Dr Purdy, Amy Byers, and the entire Banfield Folsom (Iron Point location) team. The last few days have been incredibly hard. We figured out late Tuesday night that London managed to get into some chocolate covered raisins! Can we say "double trouble"? Not only did the chocolate upset her little tummy, but raisins are actually toxic for dogs. We were at the vet at 7am Wednesday morning and, sure enough, her kidney values were way too high. Normally this would mean she needs an IV to flush fluid through her kidneys and rid them of toxins. Unfortunately, our little girl has heart problems and flushing her system aggressively could kill her. Dr Purdy was so wonderful. She kept London there all day monitoring ‍her IV against her heart complications and making sure her kidneys and heart were safe at the same time - no easy task! Having an animal with chronic illnesses is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. Besides the emotional and financial toll, it is very difficult to find a vet who can see the whole picture. For years I went to different vets and they would find some new issue and just focus‍ on fixing that - I was the only one focused on how their fix would effect all the other issues. Dr Purdy ‍is the first vet who really took the time to get to know London and ALL of her issues. She is able to explain ‍things to me in a way that I can understand - and does assume I have advanced education in ‍ chemistry - which allows me to make the best decisions for London as a whole (I'm telling you, I would need another FB page to tell you everything this dog has been through). Overall Dr Purdy ‍is a saint and she is our angel. Yesterday morning there was a very real chance London wouldn't be coming home and now she is sleeping in my lap . read more

I am not convinced that this Banfield has your pets best interest at heart. When our dog was like 6 years old he developed a cough. We were told for years it was allergies and some dogs just have that. It had gotten worse and they told us the same thing. About 10 days ago a doctor told us that it was actually heart disease. Our dog had lost a bunch of weight, was in pain and distressed. They sold us on meds, a high calorie diet (he had very little appetite) and told us to see a cardiologist. He was a 12 year old dog and he was suffering. They didn't want to put him down. Yesterday he collapsed on the floor of our room and died. He was in pain and distressed. The scene was traumatic. I'm just thankful our kids were asleep. I don't understand why we couldn't put him down peacefully to ease his pain and instead only given the option to treat a dog that was too far gone. This was not the end that I had hoped for and we will be finding a new vet for our other animals as it seems they are more concerned about selling products than listening to pet owners. read more

I had to bring my dog in after she and her brother had a fight. The staff were efficient and friendly and made checking in easy. Dr. Laughren was kind and understanding, it's very hard to have to explain your own dogs got into a fight. she was compassionate and explained everything I needed to do for her continued care. I'll give them 2 stars because they are clean and the employees are nice. But we are so done with Banfield after giving them a try for 3 full years. We left every time feeling skeptical about the charges, but figured it was a "wash" with the "discount" wellness scheme. Here's how things break down. First, you pay more for the wellness plan than you would pay at most vets for the same services provided, and bear in mind that you may or may not use all of the services available under the plan. The discounts on other services not covered bring their prices down to a less predatory level, but still higher than any other vet in our area for the same. The "discount" on meds still makes their costs higher than what you can buy them for online, by about 10%. Every time we have gone in for the annual teeth cleaning, they have told us we need a bunch of extra stuff including extractions, which we have declined. When they removed a cyst from his skin, they wanted to biopsy it for $400 and before they were to do his annual teeth cleaning this year, they wanted us to first have an MRI done, but agreed to let us "just" do an xray, for which the charge was to be $200+ I pointed out that my human dentist takes a full set of xrays from various angles, and charges me less than $75 for that, which also includes the office visit and cleaning. "Oh that's because your insurance pays the rest." Nope. I have no dental insurance but nice try! This last time, they told us he needed to have "at least" 10 teeth removed, and possibly all of them. And "not to worry" because his gums would heal up and he'd be perfectly fine without teeth! Yep, that's what they said with a straight face and a sweet smile. Total estimated cost: $1833 (which they explained was a great bargain because the normal price without a wellness plan would be $2500 or more!). They talked us into doing an aspiration of a mass on his bottom to test it for cancer. He's 11 years old with a life expectancy of 12-13. If it is cancer, what is the treatment plan? Oh, they would try surgery and if that didn't work, something more "aggressive." I kick myself for agreeing to it at all, but Iet them do the test for $150, Still waiting for results. After getting him home, I felt really sick about it all and called another vet who was able to see him the very next day. I told them what Banfield has proposed, and he looked at me like I had two heads. He examined the dog and began muttering things like "What are they talking about?" and "Good grief, they wanted to remove ten teeth? Seriously?" In the end, with no "wellness plan" discount, our new found vet charged us $600 to clean the teeth, remove the two teeth that were actually loose, and remove the mass on his bottom. That includes all costs of anesthesia, Rx for antibiotics, office visits, and follow up care to be provided later at no additional charge. He said after removing the mass, he cut it up and although it is not a true "biopsy", he saw nothing that raised his suspicions or any need for further testing (too late, we already paid for that at Banfield!). Which is perfectly rational given the age of the dog and his overall health and constellation of symptoms. I called Banfield to cancel my wellness program, and politely explained why. They said they "understood" and that all I needed to do was pay an additional $6.00 to cover the difference between the services they had provided to date and the "actual value" of those services (according to their math, but not according to the local market for those services). Talk about adding insult to injury. I'd have thought under the circumstance, they might be willing to waive the measly $6. Yeah, I'm an idiot for waiting so long to change vets. Call it inertia, or sloth, or whatever. Never again. As the saying goes, "Sadder but wiser!" Hopefully I've at least spared some other sucker from getting fleeced and having their pet tormented and assaulted under color of veterinary authority. That's my opinion of Banfield. The second time, we never saw the vet but he was helpful over the phone about our options. I think this vet office would be a good choice but at the the end we decided on something else. If you like your pet to sit in a kennel all day with no food, water or bathroom breaks this is the facility for you. After walking back to the backroom to get my dogs nails trimmed I was horrified to see more than one dog in a kennel with no food, water and laying next to a pile of poop. Also, more than once I have dropped my dog off for a routine appt come back when the staff had called to tell me my dog was ready only to wait almost an hour for a staff member to talk to me and another 20 minutes for them to "run" back and get my dog. Staff is friendly for the most part besides a few bad apples at the front desk, but facility is unorganized and takes on too many appts in one day. Wellness plans are a scam. I have had my dog on their wellness plans for 6 years since she was a puppy. I will be cancelling this month!! They will up sell every little thing and try and guilt you like your a horrible pet owner. Recently, my dogs dental plan is included with the annual dental cleaning every year. Last year and the years prior 2015-2017 she went in had cleaning and extractions and it was all included. I payed for medication at the discounted price and that is it. Today the doctor calls and explains she needs more extractions 5 total and X-ray before and after the extractions to "ensure no tooth fragments remain" so last time she had extractions this was not done. Anyway the tech gets on the phone with an attitude and quotes me over $525 for this. Over $450 without X-ray and decline X-rays and with loud attitude Nicole begins to say "well do you understand the risk??!!" I tell her yes and she repeats herself again. I ask her why I had dental cleanings and extractions were included every time last time? She said with attitude well I don't know what they did! Ok!? I told her Banfield keeps the records and I'm sure she could look. Anyway the back and forth continued and I opted to have them finish her cleaning so I can pick her up and cancel my plan. I will never return to Banfield they have become a money hungry corporate that doesn't care about pets..so many other vets that take care of your pet at reasonable prices. The other issue with them is that I have been trying to get a Mammory tumor removed off my dog since April. First they said she needed blood work-- did that was normal, then they declined to remove it while under dental Anesthesia due to infection-- then they said it must be biopsied and pathology fees etc.. it's one up sale after another. They don't listen to pet owners and talk down to anyone that declines their outrageous run around tests and procedures. It's cheaper and faster to get a tumor removed on a human than a pet with these people and their BS wellness plan.. Lastly Nicole at Folsom iron point location has no customer service. Our last visit was horrible! We were squeezed in as it was an emergency and I was thankful for that. We waited for one hour to have our dog seen. It was a Sunday night almost closing time. The vet seemed more worried about getting home for dinner then taking care of our dog. We were sent home without any assistance other than telling us to let our dog rest. We ended up in the emergency room at another vet that same night. Turns out our dog had a severe injury and needed medications and crate rest for four weeks. We bought the monthly insurance plan last year which is the only reason I continued going here. I do not think it is worth it! The front desk people are not friendly and the last vet just made us feel awful. I am sad about the whole experience and will be thankful when I don't have to make any more payments for services that are not worth it. If you love your pet take him/her some place else. read more

Let me start by saying, the Puppy Wellness Plan is the best deal this side of the Mississippi especially if you are taking your dog to the great doctors at this location. The Wellness Plan is perfect for a dog mom like me who is slightly paranoid and is a fan of rescues with unknown origins and history because office visits are included (unlimited!), so I never have to hesitate when I'm considering bringing Abby in for care. Dr. Purdy is the best! My puppy Abby had been neglected and pushed aside by the vet at another Banfield location (Tustin at The District) and as a result had a rapidly progressing skin infection on top of demodectic mange and an ear infection. We saw Dr. Purdy several times and she always remembered Abby, took her time to ask the right questions, give a thorough exam, and show true concern for Abby's health. She was always willing to answer as many questions as I could think of and gave me realistic expectations about treatment and cost, all while making us feel at home. Dr. Purdy also performed Abby's spay and let me tell you it was art! The incision was so small that Abby did not even try to lick it. I don't think Abby even knew it was there! She recovered quickly and easily and the incision healed in 3 days. I am truly impressed by the professionalism, compassion, and education exemplified not only by Dr. Purdy but also by the rest of the staff. Every tech we interacted with was incredibly knowledgeable and engaged. Abby was a bit of a handful as the continuous skin scrapings we had to do to test for mange were painful, but the staff never took it personally and treated her with the utmost care and compassion regardless of her snarls. I LOVE FOLSOM BANFIELD! I love my pup as if she was my child and these are the ONLY people I trust completely with her care. Thank you so much Folsom Banfield! We recently had to move back to Orange County, and we are going to the Huntington Beach Banfield location tomorrow...I only hope they measure up to the Folsom standard of care. read more

We LOVE our pets in my family (and by family I include all extended members as well). When our little Berkshire rat fell ill on a wet, rainy Sunday we were so terribly worried. Finding a vet that was open on a Sunday AND treated small critters was no easy challenge. Luckily, we were put in contact with Banfield and rushed right over. They were very kind, and treated us and our pet just the same as the clients coming in with cats and dogs (some people seem to have the idea that rats are just vermin and not worthy of the same love and affection as dogs). We had a bit of a wait, but for a walk-in it wasn't bad. The doctor came in, saw our little guy, fixed him up with some meds and we left feeling very much relieved. I had an emergency with my pet rabbit on a Saturday when my regular vet office was closed. I spent hours calling veterinary clinics near and far with the same results, " sorry we don't see rabbits " or "our exotic pet veterinarian isn't in today". As a last resort, I called Banfield. I was skeptical that they could help but the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She let me know that they have a veterinarian who sees exotic pets and he had a cancelation and to come on in. I drove over an hour and was nervous for my baby to see anyone other than her regular vet. I was very impressed with Dr. Cabrera and his staff. He was professional, gentle and very knowledgable about rabbits. He was able to prescribe my bunny some pain medication to make her comfortable. The office visit was $20 less than my regular vet office and the cost of the medication seemed in line with what I have paid in the past. Overall, the visit was pleasant and every staff member we encountered was professional and efficient. I may have to make this my vet office from now on. Thank you. read more

I have been going to this Banfield location for about 2 years. The reason I stay there is because of the vets that are there. However, in the last 4 months or so, there appears to be a high turn-over within the vets at this location. I have stayed, simply because I'm familiar with the staff, outside of the vets and they are typically pretty helpful, until today. While I realize we are in scarry times with COVID-19, if you choose to go to work, you need to do your best to still provide some sort of customer service. This morning I called to get a cone for my dog's, foot infection (note, they treated my dog 3 days ago), and first a recording came on up till 10:00am -stating their hours, which were 2 hours past the open time stated on the recording. I left a message - no call back. I called one more time and I was advised that they can not provide a cone, because they are only treating emergency situations. My dog is bleeding and you have been treating him since Saturday - this is an emergency. I was advised to go to PetSmart. I called another Banfield (Fair Oaks) and they were 100% different - excellent empathy and customer service and invited me in to get a cone fitted right away.
