Everyone that works there is kind and inviting. The ambiance is really nice and it's cool/pretty. I think they hit the theme really well

Weird. I don't usually leave reviews unless I feel absolutely compelled to and this Nightmare Before Bar experience was the weirdest thing I've ever witnessed. I feel bad for some of the employees because they seemed so uncomfortable having to host this thing. The host dressed as a bunny was a whole mess. Clearly drunk and sloppy it was comical and awkward at the same time. Drinks weren't good we sent one back - $20 for a 6 piece sushi roll is ridiculous. Our server was nice and fine but the host i could not deal with. We left early it was too embarrassing to watch. read more

Truly one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a public place. The "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme night made us wait 20 minutes past our ticketed reservation time, the included with ticket "welcome shot" was A) marketed as a thank you for waiting shot, and B) gross. The sushi was okay but we were never given plates, water, soy sauce, or ginger, the drinks were not good. The host was singing (!!!????) during the very forced games as a part of the evening (an awkward trivia round and a scavenger hunt (in a small and crowded restaurant, makes perfect sense)). It was just so weird and SO EXPENSIVE for whatever the f*ck was trying to happen there. Best part was the giant disco ball. read more

Update: everyone in my party that ate fish is not well and with some food poisoning so even worse of an experience than before. Literally nothing positive to write. Reservation was at 8 pm, by 8:45 pm, they had yet to take our food order. Twice, their bamboo room separator fell on our friend and more times fell as the workers walked past and they never said anything. Once they finally took our order, the food took over an hour. One person's food did not come for another 20 minutes and did not arrive until everyone else was done. One plate of food was forgotten and took another 15 minutes to come out. Ordered a simple drink (vodka cran) that took 20 minutes to come out and then was incorrect. Had to keep asking for water and soy sauce (they gave us a basically empty container). Once the manager came down to talk to us, he was nice at first but quickly grew angry as we let him know what had gone wrong (despite him asking what was wrong). He told one of the women at the table to stop talking when she was expressing concerns (in a non rude way). After we were told they would remove several items from the receipt, they did not and we had to go back and forth with them several times until it was right. Their 20% tip was also calculated based on the total with tax included which is a scam. Sketchy vibes and overall horrible experience. read more

Absolutely terrible! Food no taste, drinks water down , and then we had a party of 10 but charges 20% tip before any discount! So they charge more for tip that wasn't even worth it! Watch out for this restaurant when you go with a party and how they charge for tip. Tip is not calculated from the subtotal you're paying. read more

I had several good experiences at the old Bang Bang, and despite the awful reviews of this new place, I wanted to give it a try. I came here for the nightclub/lounge only, not for dinner. Ordered a gin and tonic from a grumpy bartender downstairs, and I received a tequila soda. Ordered a vodka cran upstairs, and I was charged over $20. The dance floor was nearly empty on a Saturday night between midnight and 2am. Like others have said, the service is lame, and the drinks are ridiculously overpriced. There's no reason to waste your time and money here. I will not be back. (Note: The five-star review by Byron is the same one he wrote on Google, and he has only one review on Yelp. He's clearly affiliated with the business. Without his review, this place has an average of two stars or fewer.) read more

We loved the experience at the old location. New location is in prime spot, but felt different. QR menu is great, but our cell reception to pull up the menu wasn't good at the back of restaurant and didn't have WiFi setup yet to connect too. Finally was able to get the menus up on our phones and tried ordering some of their signature drinks but was out of certain liquors including their whiskey flight. Ordered Calamari as an appetizer and came out cold. Sushi boat was good but nothing special but good size for 4 people. Waitress did her best so nothing against her other then getting the calamari out warm. Drinks for 4 took almost 15 mins to be made and they were not that busy. Wish I could write more positive things but don't think we will be back. It's too bad cause we really did like this place before. read more

Do. Not. Come. Here. We tried it when they moved to this location. Outside of the chefs, there isn't one competent person that works there. We came here one night and the long process of ordering and eventually receiving drinks should have been enough to know that these folks are useless. My gf arranged for us to come here on that Halloween themed night. Far far worse experience. We were shuffled downstairs into some bad themed bar that the staff again were worthless. Long story short - our patience ran out after they took forever to acknowledge that we wanted to order food. I truly hope they go out of business soon. In addition to the most awkward evening, they ran out of almost everything, for being a sushi restaurant the fact that they were out of edamame at the beginning of the night was pretty insane to me. Our table also did not have real plates, soy sauce, and just to top off this magical evening, we pulled wad of HAIR out of the poke wontons. Disgusting. Do not recommend. Was so excited to surprise my fiancé with this bar pop up, that it's Tim Burton was just the cherry on top of a get away to celebrate our anniversary BUT when we show up this was a disappointment it truly feels like a money grab. The games are not set up well, the welcome drinks are horrible quality shoots, and above all the ambience is no where to be found! There is a corner with some nice art but other then that it's a sushi restaurant with black and white sheets on the wall. Did we leave early? Yes Will we have a story to tell later ? Amazing atmosphere and great music! This place has a bit for everyone with several floors and a variety of music from hip hop, rap, EDM, and reggaeton. Aman was awesome and really helped our group feel welcome by giving us a tour. The upstairs area and the downstairs areas even have their own bars!! Definitely worth a visit, their table/VIP prices were also very affordable for the area. San Diego natives and visitor will definitely enjoy this spot. read more

Enjoyed the previous location but now went to the new location for a birthday party and would not go back again. Party of 5 over $500 and would rather take my business elsewhere. Asked for 3 of their specialty cocktails and they did not have the ingredients. No whiskey flight, no whiskey drink, and they also did not have a tequila cocktail. Finally settled on 4 cocktails and it took over 20 minutes to get them. Waitress was very nice but she did not know the menu. No physical menus and no WiFi so it was hard for our party to use only one of our phones that had reception to use their QR code for their online menu. The waitress did offer up her phone but there was no way we were going to let her do that. We actually felt bad for her. It would have been easy to run and get some printed menus and get the alcohol needed to not run down a $40 whiskey flight due to missing ingredients. Another winner for us was the kill bill, if you like crispy onions, tuna and eel sauce, this is definitely the roll for you. since the move from old bang, i have continued to come to both dinner hrs and club hours. both have been outstanding service. jazzy, the floor manager has always been a delight to interact with and a great host. kevin during club and dinner hours is the most down to earth bartender who works with speed and efficiency. if you love music and love to have a good time. i would highly recommend this place for vibes and ambiance. be sure to check out the upstairs lounge area! p.s. during dinner hours try the "cool as a cucumber" drink for a tasty refresher! read more

This has been booked for weeks, simple table of 5 for my friend's bachelorette dinner. It's Saturday night, the "big night" and now we are scrambling last minute to find availability elsewhere, on halloweekend. Why did they cancel you ask? Due to a private event that they booked and are having tonight. 3 hours in advance we were informed. This is extremely unprofessional. We should all get our money back for the Nightmare Before "experience." It was the most poorly run event I've ever been to. We waited outside past our ticket time and the only explanation we got for why we couldn't go in was "people are in there"-- huh? I felt bad for the young security man out front-- he was very polite. But, the manager (whoever the random singing woman was in the bar) was very rude when she had to actually answer to why we weren't allowed in during our ticketed time. Once inside they shuffled us upstairs (no decorations) and said to wait until they bring us down. 30 minutes go by and no one comes, so we just walk down and take a seat. The welcome shot was disgusting. The trivia was just a weird jumbled mess. I hope people read this before they buy a ticket. Do NOT fall for the ad that makes it seem awesome.
