Chefs choice sashimi, beer, Salmon/tuna Poke Bowl

I am so thankful we stumbled upon this establishment! On a Tuesday morning, we initially tried to go to another sushi restaurant about ten minutes away, but unfortunately we didn't have a reservation and they wouldn't have had another table available for another two hours. Called Chef Jun to confirm if we needed a reservation here, but they said they had tables available since we were planning on being there in 10-15 minutes. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the girls up front and sat at a nice table outside on the back patio. We ordered the chef's choice sashimi, poke, beer, and green grape soju. I ended up asking for lemonade too to mix with my soju since I rarely drink and do not like the taste of alcohol lol. The food was absolutely delicious, I wouldn't have changed anything about our meal! We left satisfied and were so impressed with the sashimi variety we were served. I had no idea amberjack existed, but it's definitely up there with my usual salmon sashimi favorite! We definitely got our money's worth. Service was incredible, our server Marylyn D (that was on our receipt) was sooo sweet and we really enjoyed her energy. (We love your pikachu tattoo btw!) She made sure to check on us and give us updates on when our food was coming, which we really appreciated. Overall 10/10. Next time we visit from the Bay Area we will definitely be coming back here and recommending to our friends :)

We visited this place recently after many years since our first experience during the pandemic era, the dining area definitely looks really nice and it was comfortable and airy. Food wise, the Bay Ho scallop roll was pretty good but I wasn't too impressed with the textures of the tempura or the execution of the rainbow roll. There were a lot of little scallops that had a nice charred flavor for Bay Ho. The tempura was a but too thick and over fried. The slices of fish in the rainbow roll was falling apart. Otherwise it was an ok experience

Amazing sushi spot in the most random location. Was wanting to go to Nobu but my date took me here and I was shocked how good it was. Presentation was very ig friendly for what he ordered and even tastier.

Always good! We shared the spicy garlic edamame. I had the Toro roll, which was delicious and melt in your mouth with the bluefin tuna. My friend had the fire roll and the Alaskan roll, which I got to try and enjoyed it very much. Great service. Cozy, modern restaurant Clean ambience.

Chef JUN serves high quality sushi and other dishes with a reasonable price. I had several Nigiri sushi, handroll, maki rolls and chirashi and they were all tasty and a good portion. It has good space for dine-in and the interior is neat and moody. It's pretty quiet inside. The staff are friendly and attentive. I think their quality of sushi matches with other top Japanese restaurants in San Diego. Try out this spot if you are craving for sushi and other Japanese dishes.

We love Chef JUN! Such a great experience! We had a stroller with us and the hostess was so nice to make space for us and give us a table in the back room where it was a little quieter. The food is great. We love to come and share a few rolls. The orange and Hawaiian rolls are my favorite. Great date night or meet up with friends spot!

We've been going here for so long and they're so consistently good! Huge shout out to Hannah tonight for making our visit so special! Despite it being a full house, she provided us with amazing service and was just so incredibly kind. We always get the Jun San - it is so much food for such a good price! You're getting cod, uni, toro, oishi and more -- and the quality is always top-tier. Definitely my favorite sushi spot in all of San Diego :)

Quality sushi with an upscale, yet cozy, ambiance! We were so impressed by Chef Jun! If you're shopping for a nice date night spot with amazing presentation and even better tasting eats, this is the place. We opted for the Chef Choice Sashimi and the Solo Kaidan. The sashimi selection was solid with a good variety and generous cuts. No complaints here! The Solo Kaidan, though, was the star. Heads definitely turned when they brought this out- the presentation was top notch! It featured assorted sushi, sashimi all in one plate for one. There's also an option for two (the Sushi Kaidan for two), but we were plenty stuffed with just the solo option. So many fancy combos and new fish to try. You're definitely in for a treat with this dish!

What an absolute powerhouse in the San Diego Sushi scene! We came here for a date night and the service was impeccable, the recommendations were spot on. Their Omakase style menu was incredible and very affordable for what you get.

This was highly recommended by people I follow on social medias. Decided to splurge for my son's birthday. It was tucked in a neighborhood mall where there's a liquor store there. Took us a while driving through a residential area to get here. Inside was warm and cozy with modern designs, and dimly lit. Onto the food, wished they offered more variety of sushi rolls. Most of the rolls consisted of spicy fish. Prices are comparable to other sushi places in SD, the freshness of the fishes could better. Service was good, there were a lot of servers but only one could take your order and check out. We most likely will be checking out other sushi restaurants in SD.

Best sushi in San Diego! Everything is 10/10, if you've ever been there, you know. if you haven't, you must. I love this place, great service, amazing food, everything is fresh. Easy 5-stars.

We came back for more delicious sushi when we visited San Diego last week. I like the fact that I don't have to make a reservation a month in advance like some other places or stand in line outside so I can get a table. Service is always good, too! (thanks, Aiden!)

I've heard nothing but good things about Chef Jun and can confirm this place lives up to the hype! The sushi is affordable for San Diego but that does not compromise its quality. The staff even took the time to explain each fish in my chirashi bowl. Super cute spot tucked away in bay ho, the inside looks nothing like the outside. Went in with high expectations and left pleasantly surprised, definitely coming back!

The menu posted on the windows at the entrance is what got us. Can't beat a great combo deal with ramen! Walking in we were greeted and self-ordered at the kiosk. An employee came out from the back and helped us navigate the menu. We sat down and waited for our food. It came out in a timely manner from the same employee, which we thought may be the owner. He was very friendly and helpful. Great customer service. We tried the Spicy Tontoksu Ramen with rice noodles (gluten-free) with crispy fish and the Braised Beef Ramen with fried gyoza. The food items were good & flavorful, especially considering the price point. Apparently, the ramen noodles are made in-house, which I enjoyed and had a nice bite. Overall, it's a good place and glad we tried it.

It didn't appear that they were fully set up yet when I visited during the soft opening. I say that because there were empty menu boards hanging above the kitchen service window. Two self-service kiosks and copies of the menu sheet were available along the right wall. About ten different items were available on the initial menu. More items appeared on the kiosk tablet than on the sheet. Interestingly, only two types of tonkotsu ramen were offered, one was spicy and one was not. There was more fried fare than anything else. A few things had a special discount like the Barbecue Pork Rice Bowl which I chose. I also selected the Tonkotsu Shrimp Wontons to complete my order. My food came out separately with the rice bowl first. About ten pieces of char siu pork were layered on top of the rice with steamed lettuce on the side. The meat was flavored well, but it was also fattier than I preferred. For the 33% discount, the portion size was appropriate. I don't think paying full price for such a bowl would have been a good value though. Eight wontons were boiled in a tonkotsu broth that I am sure was also used for the ramen bowls. Lettuce and green onions were included with the wontons. The broth had a strong pork flavor while the wontons were decent. I will give this place some time to get its sea legs under them before returning. I expect the menu to expand, especially with more varieties of ramen to live up to its business name. For now, I gave a three star rating for my dining experience at Fujiyame Ramen.

Today I stopped by with a friend for a light lunch and was happy to see that they're still here after all these years. One thing I've always liked about Niban is their lunch specials. On this visit, we ordered the salmon skin roll, Baja roll, and of course their croquette, which is something I almost always get here because it's consistently good. The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I remembered. The staff is generally friendly and attentive. The only minor issue I've noticed on occasion is that a server may accidentally place their thumb in the center of a plate while serving, which isn't the most sanitary practice. Hopefully that's something management can address. It's also nice to see this restaurant still doing well, especially since the shopping center feels much quieter these days with fewer businesses around besides Chipotle and McDonald's. Overall, Niban remains a reliable neighborhood sushi spot with good food, reasonable lunch specials, and friendly service. I'll definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.
