We stopped by this place around 3pm on a Sunday after a hike at the Sleeping Giant State Park. We actually initially wanted the korean/japanese next door but they were closed sunday so we came in here instead. First impression was: dane, this place is really empty. Decor was pretty nice and seating and tables were clean but there wasn't any other customer. Anyways we were hungry and decided to just order something to try. The menu had a page of chef specialties and there were almost 10 duck items so I guesed they must be pretty confident in their duck cooking and ordered the hot basil duck. Wow the duck tasted amazing. They deep fried basil and lay them on top of the duck which has crispy skin and very tender meat. The sauce at the bottom is stirred fried with a lot of vegetables and flavored very nicely. This is a dish that can stand up to any NYC Thai restaurant competition (at least ones I have been to) We also got a lychee drink to go with it which came. It had two actual lychee in the drink and tastes refreshing without being overly sweet. We would definitely like to come back if we are in the neighborhood again. read more

Great restaurant. Terrible issue with delivery. I love this restaurant and have always had great food and service when I eat there. Today, however, we ordered takeout through Uber eats which was a Bento box and they sent an incomplete order. We paid $9.95 each for a lunch size portion and the Bento box had two slices of orange where the spring rolls and salad were supposed to sit. When we called, they explained unsympathetically that Uber eats had not changed the website as requested with the wrong price was listed and they had to modify the order to a regular lunch but not a bento box. The refused to send the additional spring rolls. We will definitely not order lunch from this place again read more

A hidden gem! In the former location where Griff's Chicken Shack was in a strip mall in Hamden next to Mikro, Bangkok Boulevard was a great surprise to me! The ambiance inside is entirely changed and looks great! The only complaint I have about the atmosphere was that their A/C was either not turned on to a low enough temperature or wasn't functioning correctly and the material used to cover the seat cushion was very squeaky when sliding on it to sit down in the booth. read more

However the dish was severely lacking flavor while being unpleasantly spicy (to someone who enjoys spicy food) the pineapple fried rice was also bland. Delicious fresh Thai meal choices. Very attentive staff and most willing to explain their dishes. I had the DRUKEN NOODLES with shrimp . The dish consists of flat wide noodle with basil, red peppers, egg, carrots, onions in a chili garlic sauce. My husband had the TIGER TEAR BEEF. A grilled steak marinated in a special house sauce & served with vegetables, sticky rice and a Thai spicy sauce. Birthday lunch with my daughter. She got her favorite pad see ew and I got my favorite panang curry. We also thought we'd better try their pad Thai since that's the way we usually tell whether or not it's worth coming back. Lunch came with a salad which was very fresh and the fled reading was excellent. We each ordered the coconut soup, as well. The soup was very good as were both dishes. I got brown rice with mine and wished for a bit more panang curry sauce. My experience at Bangkok Boulevard was exceptional. Our waitress was very attentive and the wait for the food was not bad at all. The atmosphere was calming with the signature instrumental music that usually plays in the background at most Thai restaurants. The decorations were pretty and what appeared to be family pictures on the wall were a nice addition to the decor. What made the experience really stand out was the food. The beef pho was delicious. I recently ordered shrimp Pad Thai. The noodles were very dry and the dish lacked flavor. The one plus about it was the shrimp. They were deveined and fresh. The portion was really disappointing. Usually, dinner portions at other Thai restaurants are quite larger. In addition to Pad Thai, I ordered spring rolls. They were mediocre just like the service. My meal was ready for pick up, but the staff was discourteous. Overall, the food and experience were disappointing. If you are in the area, you should try Thai Awesome instead. The portion, flavor, and customer service are definitely better! While the menu is pretty expansive, it lacks some of the classic Thai dishes like laab or yum woon sen. I've tried some of the basic dishes but not the more expensive ones from their specialties menu. Most of the dishes are decent but lacking spiciness and depth of flavor. The duck salad was good; the duck was crispy and the veggies were fresh. But the papaya salad and tom yum goong, which should be staples of a Thai restaurant, were not very good at all. Not spicy or very authentic. The ba mee geow likewise wasn't inspiring, the pork was dry, the wontons weren't flavorful, and the noodles were mushy and bland, no springiness. That said, I'm willing to try some of their more expensive dishes in the future, just not any time soon. read more

This place is awesome. I went with my family to this place just because we found it on yelp. My family was really happy with their food but I'm only going to go into detail about my food. I got a thai iced tea (amazing. Perfect balance between tea and milk). Our waitress was really attentive and our food came out fast (10 min after ordering). Since they do take out too, it makes sense. I got the duck special with red curry sauce. Almost everything on the menu has some level of spice but mine had just the right level. Enough to make me keep eating but just enough to make my nose run. The dish was as artistic as delicious (they added a carrot flower and a twisted orange peel.) My only issue was that the special was $20 and the food amount didn't match the price, but even with that, I would give this place a 4.75 stars. I still was happily satisfied. I can see this as a place that college students would use to treat themselves and enjoy an "expensive" meal. Definitely will be coming here for future thai-ventures. read more

I did an online order, received the e-mail confirmation of my order and the pick-up time. I drove there...but they claimed to have "lost" my order. Worse than that, they made no attempt to find it...or to take down a new order. I drove home, placed a (nearly) identical order, and, this time, called to confirm that they had it. They did. Oh...they never found the first order, but they were able to bill it to my credit card, even though it was "never found." They did nothing about that, either. I had to have my credit card company refund my money. No, I am not happy. The food that I received (i.e., my second order), certainly was worth neither the hassle nor--to tell you the truth--its menu price. This is a smaller sized establishment. Maybe 20 tables. The ambience is nice. There is a distinct odor that goes with Thai food and from my experience, this location has poor ventilation. If you are allergic to peanuts, you just might die walking into the place. The food was alright. Nothing that rocked my socks. The prices are a little high for what you get. Terrible service. I would give a 0 if I could. We went as a group of 8, and the menu said gratuity would already be added (18%). I have a peanut allergy, which I told the waitress, and she said not to worry about it because the curry would not have peanut in it. When I got the bento box that I ordered, the salad that came with it had a glob of peanut butter on top. I mentioned this to the waitress, and instead of offering to make it again, she said "just dont eat it". I would've liked to have some salad. Anyway, she started rushing us because it was time for her break or time for her to go home, I'm not sure which. So we got our checks and found out that they actually charged us 20% for gratuity, instead of the %18 as shown on the menu. We informed them of this, to which our server said that it wasn't her fault and it was the system. We told her to change it, and in the end got 18%. But she charged my entire meal knowing that I couldn't eat the salad. I asked her if it was possible to not charge me for the salad, and she said that we should've told her of my allergy beforehand . This place was extremely horrifying. Where should I even begin. My friend's peanut allergy was completely disregarded and she was served some peanut sauce. This endangered her life, and they refused to change the dish telling her to not touch the sauce. Her peanut allergy is severe and she can die without proper care after eating/touching peanuts. Furthermore, a previous costumer had forgotten his computer which we saw the staff drop to the ground. The costumer was not told about the handling of their computer. In addition, the menu stated that an 18% gratuity was included for groups of six or more people, yet when we received the check it stated that the gratuity was 20%. Seeing as how the service was negligent of medical conditions, we wanted to pay less gratuity. We were told we had to pay 20%, however, after complaining the waitress told us she would talk with her "boss" to get the gratuity down to the menu-indicated 20%. The waitress returned with "changed" receipts that included the same price as the first receipts. Essentially we were scammed and our friend's deadly allergy was ignored. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Wow. Exceptional service, wonderful food, and a gorgeous interior. I hadn't been to this location since Griff's Chicken Shack occupied it a few years ago (yummm) and the space has been completely transformed from a chicken shack (literally) to a chic restaurant totally out of place in a strip mall. Warm color palette, dramatic light fixtures, and lovely decor - impressive! On to the food - for appetizers, we ordered the duck salad and Siam pork dumplings, which were both fabulous. The salad had TONS of succulent, crispy duck, plus ginger, tomatoes, scallions, onions and Thai dressing. A bit heavy on the fish sauce but overall a total treat. For entrees, I had the pumpkin curry bento box, a beautifully balanced mix of pumpkin-coconut curry (and a slight hint of spice) loaded with veggies, plus rice, salad (with a freakin amazing peanut dressing) and crispy spring roll. My fiance went for the Green Goddess fish (a whole steamed fish described as "fiercely spicy" although in reality not too intense) with fresh chili, celery and lime juice. When I eat lunch, I'm a little too lazy to pick tiny fish bones out of every bite, but Nick enjoyed it. If this was a tad closer, I'd be a regular - but it's definitely a restaurant worth returning to! read more

I've ordered takeout from Bangkok Boulevard twice so far. The food is average to maybe slightly above average for Thai, and the portions are satisfying, though I think you get less for what you pay here than other Thai restaurants in the area. They have your traditional Thai noodle, rice, and curry dishes, and they offer some lunch and bento box specials. I first ordered the green curry with tofu in a lunch special size, and I paid the extra $1 for brown rice to feel better about myself. The curry was pretty good, with all the sweet/spicy/savory flavors I want when I'm craving Thai, and I got a decent amount of fried tofu. It was a good lunch for around $10. I went back a few weeks later and ordered the drunken noodles with beef, which is only available in one regular entree size. It was a solid order of drunken noodles, but it was a little heavy on the fish sauce, and I thought $14 was a little high for the small circular container that I got. I haven't eaten inside Bangkok Boulevard, but I think it would be a nice place to bring a date or meet up with a group. They've done a nice job of renovating the location with sleek red decor and lots of seating. While it's not my first choice for Thai or takeout lunch in the area, I'm glad to have this option for Thai food in this part of Hamden. read more

My only issue is the gf labeled menu.... i have a serious allergy and I'm not sure how accurate it is. One of the items labeled gf has crab stick in it which is typically not gluten free so I'm just not 100% sure. I stuck to what I know is always gluten free just to be safe. + Bangkok is the perfect Thai restaurant + I've had Bangkok Boulevard several times and each time it's been a flawless experience. The food is always perfect (I got the duck with peanut sauce on rice). The time I actually sat in the restaurant, the staff was prompt and friendly. Our meals came out within about 10-15 minutes. The walls were red with beautiful pictures and serene music playing throughout. Frankly, Bangkok is the kind of restaurant I hate to review. Because writing 5 Star reviews bores me to death. I've since been back a number of times and the result is always the same; consistently good food with fresh tasting ingredients, snappy service, helpful and pleasant staff, and reasonable prices. I've had the Pad Thai and a number of curry dishes. They're all good. It's not extravagant. Just a nice clean restaurant with good food and good staffing.
