One of my favorite options anytime we want to eat out!! I'm originally from Southern California and have been to some truly amazing Asian and Sushi restaurants. Including a Thai restaurant I still wish I could go to. I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant so close to home and it does not disappoint!! It was so good after I tried it for the first time I went out in subzero snowy weather a week later to get my family something different (typical pizza & burger lovers). My Son who was 7 yr old at the time really enjoyed his noodle dish. The option of no spice or varying levels of spice was really helpful because my guys don't like spicy food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for more than "Americanized Chinese" food. It is flavorful and the choices are many to fit nearly any taste. Our three kids (ages 6-11) beg us to eat at this restaurant every time we drive through Caledonia. The service is exceptional, and the food is fast and always fresh (they make their own sauces, in-house, fresh each day). We end up eating here a few times a month, and between the five in our family, we've tried and would absolutely recommend several dishes... My favorites are the curry dishes. The red curry (gang ped...super-flavorful), green curry (with fresh basil...AWESOME), and masaman curry are my go-to's. My husband loves the peanut curry and crab rangoon. Although our 6 and 8 year-olds love a little spice and will split with what the grown-ups are eating (the portions are huge...there's more than enough), our daughter prefers things on the milder side. She loves Bangkok Chef's Pad Thai noodles, Pad Pak, or the Chef's Special Fried Rice (think Chinese fried rice with pineapple). The great thing is that, like a Chinese restaurant, you can choose your own protein and customize the veggies that come in your meal. That's handy for the younger diners at the table, but do yourselves a favor and drive past the 2 Chinese restaurants in town and try something at Bangkok Chef. You'll be glad you did... read more

It's hard to find a good Thai food place in grand Rapids. But since I moved out to Caledonia Michigan, I found Bangkok chef Thai food restaurant. I wasn't sure what to order but I love spring rolls of any kind. I ordered a takeout of two shrimp fried spring rolls into vegetarian Spring rolls with rice paper. Both were delicious however there was just a hint of a bleach smell with the shrimp spring roll so I really couldn't finish that. I believe they are reasonably price and they are in a small strip mall right across from Metro Health. The owner was very friendly and sweet. She was also very knowledgeable about explaining The different types of food if you do not know tie food that well. I will definitely order from them again but probably not the shrimp rolls. read more

I've eaten at several different Thai restaurants- Erb Thai ( both locations), Thai Fusion, and one in Bend, OR but I like Bangkok Chef the best. First of all the young lady that takes my orders is a sweetheart and has yet to make a mistake. Second, their food is delicious! I get my yellow curry with tofu and my husband and daughter love the sesame chicken. Never eaten in there, always take-out but despite its lack of ambience, it is clean and pleasant. read more

Had the Drunken Noodle and really liked it. Their sauce is much lighter and unique and finished the whole plate not feeling overwhelmed. Wife had the pad se-ew (sp?) and we both liked it a lot as well. Will be going back soon! read more

We went to this restaurant for the first time tonight with three of our kids all 5 and under. It was small and we were afraid that the kids would be to much but it was a wonderful experience. Our waitress was very friendly and anticipated our needs. She was so helpful. I was impressed with her and equally impressed with the food. Everything we ordered was amazing, the kids tore up the Pad Thai and the crab rangoons were some of the best we've ever had. My husband got the curried duck (which I wasn't sure about) but the flavors were amazing and it was so tender it fell off the bone. Overall we loved it and will most likely order again. read more

This is the best food I've ever tasted! I am NOT exaggerating when I say that, their crab ragoons are the bomb. I will eat myself to death with those. I usually get the Lad Na with chicken and mild seasoning. The best food I swear. The staff is always smiling and cheerful so I always make sure to leave a nice tip because I don't think I would be able to cope with life without this restaurant. read more

Stopped in at lunch time with a serious craving for some Thai food...was a little hesitant because I already knew that the best Thai in GR was Bangkok Taste downtown but thought, what the heck. Come to find out...same family and same recipes. If you've never been, try the peanut curry! You will not be disappointed. The spicy level is real Thai spice...so mild plus was a tad too spicy for me. Next time I'll go with straight up mild. Service was great, very friendly and quick! Was disappointed after reading all the great reviews. Ordered the Pad tai with a medium spice and the wife order the drunken noodles. The Pad tai was very hot, and the taste was uneventful. To the restaurants' credit they did warn me the medium was very hot. The drunken noodles were also a disappointment, with a taste that did not meet expectations. read more

They try real hard here to please their customers. They have their Thai favorites but will make other oriental dishes on request. They may not be the same as other eastern restaurants but they are always good. For those who cannot take the Thai heat, they can tone anything down. Give them a try! read more

I can only comment on the drunken noodles as that's the only dish I had here. They were ok, but not nearly as good as the ones at Thai Fusion. Service was super fast and staff was really friendly though. I'll probably go back to try other things. I wish they had Bangcock chicken on the menu. read more

We LOVE Thai food, and after giving Bangkok Chef a few tries, it's time to review them. We've been hoping it improves over time......... But no. The service is always great, but the food is nothing even remotely special. Nothing fresh, all bottled sauces, all very quickly delivered. Just blah. They have a couple of items with Thai Basil that are good, but in general nothing is fresh or home made. VERY disappointing Thai food in Caledonia! read more

The first time we went to Bangkok chef I thought the food was pretty good. However, we ordered takeout from them last night and were not impressed. The Pad Thai was extremely salty. I ordered the Peanut Curry Noodle-medium spice (which is what I usually get at thai restaurants and I expect it to be spicy) it was so hot I couldn't eat it, and I like spicy.
