Winner, Winner Thai Dinner! We had no expectations coming here, but food was SPOT on. Our family of 4 came here on a Friday evening at around 6pm and when we walked in, to our surprise, the waitress asked if we had reservations. The restaurant is very small and low-key, but, apparently popular amongst the locals. Anyhow, we were still seated even though we didn't have reservations and, to be honest, the restaurant never reached full capacity, although there were customers in and out throughout the evening. The menu was pretty standard, but seemingly very authentic with Thai soups, appetizers, salads, noodles, fried rices and special entrees. Everything in the noodles, fried rice and entrees groups were around the same price, so nothing was extremely too steep. Since it was our 1st time trying this restaurant out, we went with the very, very standard fare where you should have NOTHING to lose. We ordered: Sa Tay (BBW Marinated Chicken on Skewers) Pad See Ew with Beef Pad Thai with Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp Thai Iced Tea (You have to!) Andddd to our surprise, we really, really loved the food. The Sa Tay was a great starter/appetizer to wet our beaks The chicken was flavorful and tasty. As for the Pad See Ew with Beef, excellent. The Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp was probably our favorite, especially for our toddler son. The only slight disappointment might have been the Pad Thai. Although I liked it, my wife felt it was a bit too sweet for her palette. Portion sizes for everything was right on too and enough for us to easily share. Also, DON'T FORGET to order a refreshing Thai Iced Tea. Typically, it's hit or miss at restaurants, but most times it's a hit and it was definitely here! We loved that it wasn't premixed when it arrived, which gave it the allure of being fresher. The service was good and the waitress was friendly. Tables are little close to each other, but, luckily we never had a party sit next to us throughout our dinner. I do have to say that ALL of the food that we ordered did come out blazingly fast, which raised our eyebrows a bit, but the food was very delicious so we didn't think of it much. We tend to like to visit new restaurants all of the time, but this is one that we will definitely be back at. read more

I have been visiting my sister in Ridgewood for a long time so it was not unusual that for our takeout day we would order from Ridge Thai, which has always been a fan favorite. Everything I ordered was bland and tasteless. I can't eat spicy food so of course my dishes were spice free. From the chicken satay to the mixed vegetables to the pad see ew, the food was absolutely tasteless. The satay was tasteless and overcooked. Randomly stumbled upon this Thai restaurant. They have a great menu with all traditional Thai meals. Their Pad See Ew was really good, flavorful and great portion. We also had their shrimp and chicken dumplings and a house soup. It is a smaller restaurant but there is a good number of table seating. Service was great and was able to answer all of our questions. Due to the restaurant being on a Main Street in Ridgewood, parking can be tough at times but in addition to street parking, they also have a metered- parking lot literally right across the street. I can only speak to takeout at Ridge Thai and it's been decent. Fried rice wasn't too oily and no complaints about the salads or noodles. Street parking only. Love Thai food and really, who doesn't. Most local places have excellent food and I have yet to have a bad experience. That said, Ridge Thai hits differently. Not sure what it is but the flavors are consistently balanced and complex. It's delicious. Decor is meh, service is polite but that's not why you go. I hate doing this since the food was good (hence two stars), but I'm currently dealing with the repercussions of food poisoning from the Pad Thai. I guess it doesn't matter if it was good if it made you sick. It was my first meal of the day around 1pm. I started to feel unwell around 7 and hadn't had anything else to eat since the Pad Thai. I have an unusually strong stomach and I rarely throw up but that's exactly what I did around 9. Once it was out I felt so much better but I'm still dealing with the other classic symptoms, I'm writing this from the toilet. I wish I could recommend but I don't think I can go back. read more

Came to Ridge Thai for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised! Great atmosphere for small groups and conversation. The food came out really quickly and staff was very kind and friendly. We ordered the Chicken Satay for our appetizer, which came with five skewers and two different sauces. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, and both sauces, especially the peanut sauce, paired well with the satay. Delicious. For our entrees we ordered the Red Curry and Pad See Ew. The curry was exactly what I needed to warm myself up. Not too spicy but very flavorful. It came with a small bowl of rice that I gobbled up pretty quickly. The Beef Pad See Ew was also delicious. The wide noodles had a bit of chew and the beef was well done. To top it all off, the Thai Iced tea very good--not too sweet, which it usually is for me, and helped wash everything down. Found this little gem in Ridgewood. Inside had about 8 tables inside & a few for sidewalk seating. We came inside and sat along the mirrored wall. We were greeted and given menus. She also noticed we brought a bottle of wine and returned with wine glasses & ice. (BYOB) There appeared to be two FOH staff members and they were quite busy with takeout orders. When our waitress returns to take our orders she was friendly and offered suggestions. Overall the food was quite tasty yet not as spicy as I am typically accustomed to Thai food. Everything about this place is great except for their spring rolls. The spring rolls are slim and mainly rolled up wrapping and slight filling. But EVERYTHING else... yummy. This place a classic favorite of mine in Ridgewood! It has some great vegetarian Thai options for me that never fail to disappoint. The price tag, the portion size and taste always hits the mark. I love the red, green and Panang curries. I also enjoy the Pad Thai Noodles! Staff is friendly as well. Biggest pet peeve I have for this place is the the smell. Thai-arreah Alert! Most restaurants in Ridgewood are closed on Mondays and we were hungry for Thai, and did not want to travel. Should have! This could be a homey and warm place to eat on a chilly monday if not for food borne illness. We ordered Gang Pak, Pad Thai (shrimp), Tom Yum Goong and Siam Rolls, all of which looked nice, tasted ok going down, but were not spectacular. Within 15 minutes after finishing our meal -- alarm bells went off! Both of us tasted everything and we were both stricken and remained ill for the balance of the day. This is unforgivable. Let me put my negative review in some context and rant a little about why this meal was such a disappointing experience (aside from the obvious). IMHO, Thai food is often poorly executed in restaurants. The best examples of this cookery rely on screamingly fresh ingredients and quick, high heat preparation. In particular, when done right, northern Thai cuisine is exquisite and sophisticated, and nothing like what has been adapted for the American palate by many restaurants. I make seafood and vegetarian meals a lot at home and use Thai ingredients often. These ingredients are oriental market staples and almost always on hand at our home (e.g. red/yellow/green/massaman curry paste, coconut milk, purple basil, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, garlic, ginger, shrimp, mussels, pho noodles, tofu, etc.). Mostly we stir fry veggies and seafood quickly, infuse with authentic seasonings and add rehydrated pho or serve over rice. When we want a bit more flavor, I break out the fish sauce, desiccated baby shrimp, tamarind paste and galangal. Now and again I get ambitious and make my own Siu Mai, the authentic Thai way -- which is really simple. This version is altogether different from Chinese dim sum or Korean dumplings (although they share ingredients). Sadly, Ridge Thai does not serve Siu Mai, because the staff says it is too expensive to make (??) A bit labor intensive, true, but dumplings of every kind are cheap to make and so dang hot these days, I find it hard to believe a small place like this wouldn't highlight such an item to draw a crowd. Oh well. FWIW, if restaurant food makes us both ill on a first visit, we never give it a second chance. read more

My fav go to for Thai curries since I discovered this place in 2010. Set on a side road in Ridgewood it may take a while to find parking but it's worth driving around for. For a small byo it doesn't fail to deliver big in flavor and quality ingredients. Plus the staff is always willing to help with any questions and very friendly. Love their Red, Green and GangKa-Re curries although the Green is where it's at 90% of the time for me as I love how it's filled with veggies. And they don't skimp in that department. Lots and lots of veggies. Their broths are so delicious I wish I wasn't in a public place and could lick the bowl clean. I most often get the curries with shrimp but have also had the beef and chicken and they're all equally tender. Pick up is a great option if you aren't looking to dine in. Ridge Thai is one of the absolute best restaurants in Ridgewood! Appetizers Thai salad & golden triangles are awesome. ABSOLUTE BEST entrees are hai lum no meat and the coconut milk and peanut sauce with tofu. The staff is super kind and nice and the place is cute! Food was decent, but not enough that I would come again to be treated poorly by the wait staff. The service is as terrible as the rest of the reviews here. I felt rushed. We were seated as if there was no problem, then about 15 minutes into the meal, they tell us that they "need this table" because another group was coming soon and wanted that particular table by the window and they placed the check on the table while we were eating our main meal. I came here with a friend on a Saturday evening and it was a bit of a struggle to find this place because the color of the building is so dull. Once inside, the place was a bit busy but we were seated immediately. We decided to order the Pad Thai with chicken and the Pineapple Fried Rice and share these two dishes because we were both craving each (Shh... I ended up eating the majority of both dishes). The Pad Thai had everything you expect in any Pad Thai: noodles accompanied with eggs, peanut crumbs, scallions, bean sprouts, and carrots with a nice kick in flavor. As for the Pineapple Fried Rice, I was pleased at how generous they were with pineapple chunks and it was also delicious. I personally preferred the Pad Thai to the Fried Rice but that's probably because I'm more of a noodle guy than I am a rice guy. In addition, I was also impressed by the plating of both dishes: simple, but definitely eye-catching and Instagram worthy. Service was average and there was nothing special or anything to complain about. However, my one complaint about this restaurant is that the inside is very dim. I don't know if it's part of their aesthetic but it took a lot of editing to end up with these (somewhat decent) photos.
