My family visited Helen, GA for this first time. We were hungry and stumbled upon this cute Thai restaurant. Unfortunately on the day we went, it was pouring rain and there was a 45- minute wait. We decided to wait. Also, we love thai food and discovering new restaurants and are SO glad we found this one! Food: We ordered a variety of dishes to share. We ordered crab ragoons, tom kha kai soup, green tea, chicken pad Thai, and eruption sushi. Everything was delicious! Servings are more than big enough. You add your own level of spice from a three sauce caddy brought to the table. Service: Although being extremely busy, we had great service. Parking: Plenty of free, off-street parking available. What a surprise this place was!! From the appetizer, to the main dish and even the jasmine tea with fresh honey... everything was soooo very good. Love the aesthetics of the restaurant. Very well put together and clean. On to the food. We ordered the Crab Rangoon was delicious and crispy. But it missed the taste of a little more savory as most crab Rangoons are. It was a bit sweet for my liking Our next plate was the Volcano roll. Love this roll. Taste of the crab and sauce on top was perfect. The presentation was good but could have been better with the cleaning of the plate. Our main courses I got the Chicken Pad Thai. This I was not to ecstatic about. The taste missed the sweet part from the tamarind paste or sugar. Spicy level was perfect for me but it missed just that. The wrong noodle were used for the Pad Thai. And for someone who eats Pad Thai very often this was mistake by the chef. Lastly I got the Tom Kha Kai. This is a coconut base soup with chicken and mushrooms. This was so creamy and had a lovely savory taste. This made up for my pad Thai. Overall I recommended this place to everyone coming to visit Helen. For the price that I paid I will come here 5x more than any other place in Helen to eat good Thai food. What a surprise...this place is great. We were seated promptly and given menus with suggestions. We stayed with Thai but the sushi and rolls looked great. Homemade Crab Rangoons were very good and not overly sweet. Thai egg rolls were good. Pad Thai with chicken was one of the best I've ever had and it was a huge serving. So the big question is, is this a Thai/German fusion restaurant? Nope, it's simply located in Helen. Checked out Bangkok Haus during a recent visit. It's the hot new(ish?) thing in town with few Yelp reviews. Menu might take you a second to understand, but it's pretty straightforward. For all items listed under entrees, choose between Vegetable, Tofu, Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, or Shrimp and Scallops. Prices for all entrees are standardized based on your choice of protein [or lack thereof]. I ordered the Masaman Curry with beef. At $16.95, it's priced reasonably enough. Entrees come with rice. Masaman Curry tasted amazing. It had all of the flavors that I wanted. Portion size was great for the price. Fun fact, chopsticks aren't usually used in Thailand. There are some really big-brained well-traveled people who may want to show off, but this is not needed at a Thai restaurant. read more

Talk about a pleasant surprise! I stayed in Helen overnight and needed a place for a group of 8 with varying palates. Bangkok Haus was a hit! There was a lady playing the piano and the vibe was like "forever Christmas." Our server and the bartender were fantastic! They allowed us to make modifications/substitutions and they executed them perfectly. The fried calamari was the Star of our dinner. My husband and I went there for late lunch on Christmas Day (yesterday ) and we had a great meal. Mikayla, the hostess, was very nice and accommodating and seated us as soon as a table for two was available. The wait was not that long. Thank you Mikayla for being so kind. Our server, Alex, was awesome. I informed him of my food allergies and peanuts happen to be one of them. I ordered Masaman Curry and he made sure that it didn't have peanuts. After finding out from the chef that Masaman Curry has peanut butter in it, he came back to our table to inform us so we could change our order. That was a very good gesture from him, his concern of my food allergies as a customer. He also was very attentive and kept on checking on us making sure everything was okay. I'm a sushi chef from Atlanta, as is my husband... so naturally we're going to go find sushi two hours away from home when enjoying a mountain staycation. We came up to the blue ridge for the waterfalls and fresh air and found Helen, which is adorable, and Bangkok Haus is just chilling right in the middle of it. It was a must try on that alone. Absolutely no wait on a quiet Tuesday around six o' clock. Very friendly host. Our server was friendly, as was the fellow she passed us off to when her shift ended. The decor is modern and quite charming. We were seated near the sushi bar which was fantastic. These chefs know what they're doing. I've not had as good sushi in the city itself in some places! The portions are generous and fish is fresh. We ordered the duck entree to share after the salmon starter and one roll and I was very full! When I say again, these chefs know their stuff and it's hard to find such great quality fusion cuisine even in the city, I don't joke. Thank you for an amazing birthday dinner.
